What is the bactericidal mechanism of action of fluoride? My understanding is that it is bacteriostatic, by inhibiting a vital step involving mRNA in the Krebs cycle needed for cellular replication of the bacterium.
Dental office used to reek of it. I can remember it today. The 1950's carpet, 1960 paneling. My Elmer fud looking dentist with his red plaid hunting jackets. Very much like Walter Matthau rip. He was very good and tough.
At 17:40 you said you’ve used the Varnish but you are not clarifying which type you used? The Fluoride Varnish OR SILVER DIAMINE FLUORIDE . SDF is just a tiny dab . Its needs because there’s less reactivity from someone squirming around
I do recommend MIPASTE which is a derivative of milk protein and absorbable but it's expensive for some patients. It truly works though. I have an elderly patient that has terrible propensity to decay and so far with her daily application of MIPASTE she has not had anymore decay.
Honestly good experience for kids is how you treat them with respect and understanding. What spoils their visits is the parents sometimes filling their head with their own preconceptions of a bad dental visit. A good experience is parents and dentist and hygienist cooperating to make the visit a great one. All my little patients love visiting and I have never heard them being reluctant . I value their feedback. That is rudimentary. There are bad dentist and good dentist. How much of this is really non biased I wonder specially when it involves a steady growing income when you are retired!!!!!
I know what he means about fluoride shamed - that happened to me when I brought my daughter to the dentist for regular cleaning. Disappointing but as the parent, shouldn't we be listened to and respected? And yes, my daughter hated the fluoride paste...she said: it's gross.
If it's non toxic i think it should be OTC. My two cents. So few offices offer fluoride free treatments. I'm having a hard time finding one near by. closest is 30 min on a good day. traffic
Go to a Dental Hygiene school. They do cleanings WITH varnish. Of course it will take a couple visits but the savings are incredible. We charge btw 5 to 7 dollars for a cleaning and through the months of February to April we do FREE sealants and cleaning for children. Everyone should take advantage of these schools. Top notch service and Instructors! 🎉🦷👄😁
tea and sardines contain Fluoride. Would you recommend cutting those out of diet. Do you realize how ridiculous that would be? there are cultures that drink tea almost 3xday for relaxation and nothing has happened to them. How do you explain that? I just need to be able to understand your recommendations
I want to tell you that what you are describing is valid however there is natural FL ions that we consume every day. Fl in controlled dose can make your enamel very resistant to decay. The new Fluorides are combined with xylitol. If you have a better way of remineralizing teeth in a dental office let me know. By the way you go on and on about crappy horrible taste! did you know there are varnishes with xylitol that are very pleasant . Im always open to what you recommend. I have patients s a hygienist that are very prone to decay with parents that are not willing to stop their diet of carbs and sugar and processed food. To not recommend Fl chewing tablet at least is such a disservice to these kids. It's all in controlled frequency.
You said Fluoride Varnish but the product called Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) is different . The silver offers the continuous activation to prevent further decay and stop pain so zero drilling or any touching of decay would be needed. A dentist isn’t even needed. A school teacher can dab it on a poor kid. The whatever it touches turns black so that could be dangerous if just anyone dabs it on and ruin the teeth. But it only soaks into decay and not healthy enamel. Does FYGG stop the pain the way Silver Diamine Fluoride does? The product makes the soft decay hard . So no drilling and no filling is required . You didn’t clarify that use. Does FYGG work that way for people who are highly sensitive or disabled ? The Silver Diamine Fluoride is dabbed on and does NOT require 30 minutes or sitting still afterwards . It’s got 75 years of clinical use in Japan . They are the healthiest population overall on the planet . I trust the Japanese . Can you do another video on the comparisons of application of SDF cs FyGG regarding application? Europe uses it? Europe has stricter rules for their population regarding toxic ingredients in their public health directives . Our country has the worse directives for keeping our population healthy . We are highjacked to remain constantly confused . We need more details and clarification on the specifics not mentioned . You said the SDF is safe but you didn’t talk further to say it’s a different product than fluoride varnish .
Please get on with it lol Peeps dont have the time to lisyen to all the waffle!!!! So youre using flouride?? Bizarre - Cant actually grasp what this videos trying to say - And - why why why use Glycerine in your toothpaste!!! Higgins work was likely correct - Surely one could use a replacement. ?? Considering many of us dont want to use that or sorbitol in the toothpastes. Bit billy. Only available if you have a dental licence 😂😮
Wonderful to find dentists who aren’t following the rest … and are willing to offer healthy change…thank you thank you thank you
Coconut crème sold out. Dang. Anyway could you please address the safety of plastic retainers like Invisalign. Thx
EPA reducing fluoride is a good start too. Be well

Hi,
I need help. I can't find a dentist like yourself. My dentist gave me a prescription for fluoride.
Go to his website and see the lists of dentists he recommends 🫶🏼
I think he said he has a list of like-minded dentists for everyone
@@sweetbeep How do I find the list?

Your fluoride-free varnish costs $130 per tube on Amazon. Totally ridiculous.
