As a dental hygienist who has practiced for over 30 years I agree with Dr Stock. We need more dentists like him. The majority of dentists are fluoride pushers. I unfortunately have been in several arguments with dentists about the fluoride topic. Patients would ask me what my opinion was when the dentist left the room. I have been told not to tell patients that fluoride was bad. Dental offices make $$$ off of giving FL treatments and products. Dentists do not teach patients about nutrition. As hygienist, we have a very limited time to do many tasks. I would try to talk to my patients about limiting carbohydrates. I found people do not really understand what products are carbohydrates. Because dentistry has become more o a dentist's being money hungry instead of providing a service for the people I have left the field. I would love to continue to work in dentistry if I could find a good "holistic" type of dentist like Dr. Stock. Dr. Berry, thank you for this video. I think people need to know the truth because they do not get the truth when they go to the dental office in most cases.

It's amazing, how little understanding most non athletes have about macro nutrients.
I recently visited a friend and after explaining, that I eat a low carb diet (I won't even mention the word Keto, because I know that just gets too complicated) I proposed to make an omelette with mushrooms and some salad for dinner. So far so good. When he went shopping for groceries, he wrote me a message asking, if I would mind him adding some bacon to only his portion, since I 'surely wouldn't want to eat that, being on a low carb *diet* ' 😅
I swear, people hear the word diet and they immediately think 'calories' and also 'low fat'. It's that deeply ingrained.
And my brother (bless his soul) just keeps offering me potatoes and rice and such at family dinners.
Everyone else has caught on after two years, but he just doesn't look at food like that. He's vaguely aware of certain foods being more or less healthy maybe, but that's about it. He just isn't interested in the topic.

You’re awesome! Thank you for sharing your wisdom! I have been subjected to corporate dental practice since I was little and at 44 am losing my teeth due to periodontal disease I believe I caught from the dental office…I was always told it’s from not brushing so I continued to brush more and more and weaker my enamel…my teeth went from normal strength to weak and crumbling within weeks…but what I noticed is how the jaw bone felt…it felt weaker and when I finally got into see a dentist they couldn’t numb me at all and it felt like my jaw bone was going to break when the dentist tried to put pressure on the tooth…I remember in college being told that if the body is lacking vital nutrients..it will starve the extremities of nutrients to keep the vital organs alive…the nails and teeth will become weak and fall out..hair too..I worked for a foot doctor who had mostly elderly diabetic patients and seeing what diabetes can cause was horrifying! So I started to approach the issue from a nutrient perspective…boron and vitamin k2-mk7 it turns out are so necessary yet the most unheard of vitamins we need that affect our teeth directly…I’ve stopped periodontal from taking all of my teeth but it’s not just nutrients…I ran across a study where they had put a corpse in a sealed environment with no oxygen etc..to see if it would stay preserved..it didn’t …turns out we make our own bacteria that is what handles the disposal of our corpse at death..we also create the bacteria that consumes our waste…back 20 years ago…they were pushing this recycling sewage into tap water for water conservation….they recycle our waste back into what we drink..,dumping solids into the rivers and chemically treating the water for purification….when I first started having teeth crumble it was sudden onset with very little symptoms or decay showing…so this starts from within…I had very little gingivitis as well…my bones in my hands and feet have become weak suddenly too my hips..etc…so whatever this is is from within …unless we learn to purify the blood like we used to do with clove and herbs etc…our teeth don’t have a chance with this bacteria eating our bodies from the inside out…now I can’t even get in to see a dentist because my insurance is so slow to pay out….obummer care ruined insurance and our ability to afford it on our own…I was never given a chance to know what was going on or what causes cavities and always had horrible dental problems and a bad accident when I was 8 that damaged my teeth pretty bad…and was punished by the dentists I went to for how bad my teeth were…they never considered I was assaulted and the damage wasn’t from me being careless..I came from a family with limited resources and no insurance so we paid cash..the dentist was charging us 3x more then the standard charges! But we had mo other options because we were uninsured and no one takes uninsured ….they wanted $11,000 to fix one tooth with a veneer back in the 90s! I had all the work done at the state university dental school finally when I was 30 for $1900 total ….in 2007…so yes…this problem has been caused and perpetuated by the dental industry…and is criminal…I love seeing comments like yours though…more and more professionals making us aware of this problem we have…thank you

The most confusing thing about cavities is their diagnosis. Since my long time dentist retired, I've gone to different dentists and was originally told I had 8 cavities. Procrastinated for 6 months and the next dentist said 6. Decided to get another opinion about 3 months later and was told 3. Things like this tend to make one somewhat suspicious about the whole industry.

That's because it's subjective and depends on who's doing your exam. Years ago, in my 20's, I had a dentist do the same thing to me. He was shocked that I didn't have any fillings and proceeded to tell me that I had a cavity in every tooth. I ended up going back to my childhood dentist who performed an exam and then wanted to report that other dentist to the ADA.

I didn't visit a dentist for about 20 years due to financial problems til I was about age 60. First visit after that produced no cavities and the dentist was stunned. As a kid, I had multiple fillings because the kind local dentist filled every little spot ID'ed during my very regular visits. Today at age 67, I don't have decay but have costly repairs refilling or crowning where those old fillings are giving way.

I thought I was reading the wrong chart at his 4 month hygiene visit there was such a shocking difference. Ive never seen a mouth healthier when just 4 months earlier it was a bloody mess. Great talk Kevin! Here's a question I've been wanting an answer for ages... obviously speculation is fine
But lets say we raised the next generation with an almost perfect diet. Plenty vitamins and minerals and protein and so on. We know their teeth will be far better than the people alive today. So my question is how much better would their teeth/health be compared to stoneage humans?
Less erosion from chomping on wood and roots but I imagine our ancestors had periods where they didn't get enough protein for a day or 2 or 3.
So, in the perfect world, how much better can our oral health be even compared to our healthy ancestors?

I stopped going to a dentist 7 years ago when it became obvious to me he was pushing for things I didn’t want or ask for that were all cosmetic procedures and 6 month cleanings. I took dental care into my own hands, my teeth are whiter today, my gums are pink, no tartar buildup behind them either. How? Easy.. I don’t consume sugar, no carbs. I brush once a day with a salt/baking soda solution. I floss daily. Twice a week I brush my teeth with activated carbon powder that removes all stains. I have never felt better… the old adage I grew up hearing was true… brushing and flossing daily will keep the dentist away. I use a wooden toothpick to remove calculus build up and it works just fine.
It seems to me that our dental insurance system has become a slush fund for dentist that use it to suck the coverage costs out of it through unnecessary procedures. Greed has killed their profession.

Diet is number 1! I'm tired of pushing fluoride. I flat out tell parents not to do the tablets. I concede on topical fluoride, but I really shouldn't. I feel pushed by the office. I didn't do it. I found myself without a job for 10 years and couldn't see a dentist, and meanwhile found the keto diet and got off all grains, sugars and seed oils for 6 years, and found a red light mouth guard and nanohydroxyapatite toothpaste from Japan. Got a job, finally, and good dental insurance, went back for a 10-year cleaning, and the diagnosis? My teeth were fine. No periodontal disease. I’m hearing very disturbing things about dentists telling patients they have cavities or disease that’s only a lie to scam money from them. Personally, one of my relatives had a dentist tell her she had six cavities. She got a second opinion and was told she had none. I’m so glad she didn’t go through with all that unnecessary work and expense.

I sure wish I had known this 30 years ago. I only have about half my teeth left and one really loose. Starting out, I had one loose tooth and bleeding gums, went to dentist and got a deep cleaning, then a bunch of teeth got loose and started coming out. Saw a video about using baking soda and hydrogen peroxide as toothpaste and that started to firm up the remaining teeth. I started keto about a year ago, lost 60 pounds and was feeling better. Started moving toward carnivore and was doing good, then suddenly lost it and went back to carbs and Coke. Now, feel like crud all the time, but, buckling down again over last few days and think I can continue. Every time my loose tooth starts hurting or gums start bleeding, I brush with baking soda and hydrogen peroxide for a couple of days and it fixes it. I am reluctant to brush every day because I heard from this channel, I believe, that you shouldn't kill the good bacteria in your mouth, as it is good for health and digestion(?) maybe. I am doing well on latest attempt at mostly carnivore, but, having trouble doing intermittent fasting longer than 16/8 and sometimes OMAD. But, I am back. Edit: I don't go to dentists unless in great pain. The last one I went to mentioned above, while doing the deep cleaning was using a very sharp 'pick' and digging at the roots of my teeth what seemed excessively hard. That is when most of my teeth got loose. Right or wrong, I contribute it to him trying to make me have more problems, imo. I am not going to pay someone to damage me.

My last dentist also used that hard long thin gummi file between a few teeth, it was so hard on my gum it started bleeding like hell, he told me i had gingivitis and told me I had to continue do this between ALL my teeth for the next 30days and then come back, and told me "once you do this your gum will feel like it got worse at first and then it will start getting better".
I am very sceptic with doctors so i tried a few days and only on half my teeth so i could compare left and right side but refused to keep doing it because I feel like I am pushing bad stuff up under the gum flesh, and now a few month later all my gum has gone worse, now food even started going up under my gum close to my front teeth 🤦‍♂️

Maybe you're not eating enough meat and fat.. Takes time to adjust and sounds like you're a bit hard on yourself.. Fasting isn't necessary really. Your brain will adjust to your body telling you when to eat..8 yrs into this, we've just let our bodies tell us when to eat.. Hubby is lunch and dinner. I have 2 or 3 meals a day.. If I don't eat I get hunger pains and if I push it to far I feel crappy.. Hard physical work on the farm will use up my meat/fat meal fast.. We are healthy, fit and super happy.. Hubby had lepto bad and that's why we come to keto then carnivore. Never going back.. Please eat meat/fat till you're not hungry and don't worry about fasting..some people gain a bit of weight at the start then once the body has healed it starts just falling off.. Good luck and hi from New Zealand.. You've got this.. You can do it.. Whoop whoop.. ( :

I cleared up my gingivitis in 3 months, and whitened my teeth using my toothpaste concoction. My dentist couldn't believe it but didn't want to acknowledge that I was able to do it on my own. I found someone else after that attitude.
I winged it on the amounts: *virgin coconut oil
*baking soda - dissolved so not abrasive
    *hydrogen peroxide
*Peppermint extract - food grade, NOT essential oil
I heated in microwave, stirred, and as it began firming I used an immersion blender to keep it from separating every few minutes. Once all firmed but a fluffy consistency I put it in a glass jar with a lid by my sink. Now when it's Hot out ie summer, it'll melt. I use a baby spoon to mix it and dip my brush in it. I live alone so if you're multi family I'd recommend making a big batch and each has their own jar. Btw, my receding gums started growing back too! I brush twice daily. And no cavities. And use soft bristle! Gums are healthier because hard or medium can hurt your gums.

No matter how well I brushed and flossed, I seemed to always have cavities. All of my molars were completely full with fillings before I even went to college. My dentist not once ever told me to cut out soda, sugar, etc.. It might not have done any good as a teenager or when I was in college....it's hard to get out of bad habits you grew up with. I was always skinny so I never thought much about it since back then I equated weight with health, but at some point, if someone had said something at some point, it would have sunk in long before now watching youtube videos.

Thanks for this interview! I had my wisdom teeth out when I was 24, because a dental surgeon told me they were impacted and growing sideways so they had to come out. Then a few years later I learned that they generally DO look sideways till they're ready to erupt, then they turn themselves (kind of like a baby in a womb) and come out just fine. If I'd known this, I would have saved my money and the stress and gone to work for those 3 days instead of getting dental surgery.
During my third pregnancy, I went to the dentist because I had a filling fall out. Dentist cleaned it all out, said "because you're pregnant, we can't do an X-ray, so I'll just clean it out the best I can and hope for the best, and put in this temporary filling, come back after the baby's born and have a root canal." I never went back for the root canal, and that "temporary" filling lasted 5 years. When it fell out and the tooth broke, I had it removed. I was pregnant again, but told the dentist I'd researched the risk and was satisfied that it was low enough, so he put 2 blankets on me when he took the X-ray. I've never been back to get an implant, or partial denture, I just have a gap there (it was a molar so not really that obvious). The gap doesn't bother me enough to do anything about it and it sounds like that's probably the best way to handle it anyway!
My oldest son (I have 4 kids) is the only one who's ever seen a dentist. Here in Australia, there's a public dental system which lower income people take their kids to. I took him, and they said he had one tooth that needed to come out (it was pretty bad). It seemed like as soon as his molars grew in when he was 2, they started to decay. I'm not sure why - I mean his diet wasn't great, but we didn't feed the other kids much differently when they were the same age and their teeth are fine. I put it down to him having my dad's bad teeth.
So they said because he was so fidgety in the chair, they recommended having him get the tooth pulled under a general anesthetic, and referred us to the major children's hospital here in Adelaide. About 6 months later we got the letter, so we went to see the dentist there, who said the same thing. She also said "we'll just pull all his other bad teeth while he's under, because if we leave them there and he has a problem with one later, we're liable." Um, WHAT?! You're just going to pull out half his baby teeth? And she said he couldn't keep them because of hospital policy. So we never went back, and he kept that bad tooth until it fell out naturally. I did take him to a private dentist later who also said it needed to come out, but the kid just couldn't sit still long enough for a local anesthetic to be of much use. I still wonder if I should have had it removed, because now he doesn't like to chew food because he hasn't had the practice, because his tooth hurt for so long.
No issues with the younger kids' teeth, except the youngest has knocked out 3 by roughhousing! At least he loves steak!

Well it seems I am a controversial dentist too. I remember one very clear case that made me open my eyes. A very responsive patient started to develop periodontitis with a rapid decline . I knew he was very careful with his oral health . I really tried to help him but it was only when he came to me looking better , feeling better and his oral issues were dramatically improved that the situation improved. He had been diagnosed as diabetic type 2. He meticulously followed a better diet _ not carnivore . But still better.
I never used antibiotics for tooth inflammation/ infection. Surgical treatment unless patient is running a severe fever in case of sepsis risk. You doctors just pop pills . Dentist has to treat root cause - so to speak.
My two caries free boys don't use toothpaste. Their occlusion is perfect. Non of my 5 kids have fillings or cavities. I can actually smell on their breath they have no issues. I am sure Dr Kevin recognise that particular foetor ex ore kids have when their dental status is optimal.

Took me 1 second to look up this phrase "Foetor ex ore", also known as halitosis or bad breath, is an offensive odor that resembles rotten eggs, meat, fish, or feces.2 It is caused by poor oral hygiene, reflected by the amount of calculus and plaque present and visits to the dentist. Foetor ex ore can be a useful indicator of the severity of the disease in subjects with periodontitis.

Finally in my 30s I found a dentist and dental hygeinists that praised my carnivore diet and were willing to talk about all of the positives of cutting out the carbs, sugars, and processed foods. Sad I'll be leaving the country in a few weeks but hopefully I can find a more holistic dentist in Korea too! Thank you both and please keep it up on bringing the truth about our diets!!!

It is so wonderful to see medical professionals and dental professionals to move toward a real answer to our health problems. I feel that I must share this interesting situation with you that happened by accident and I never told my dentist and maybe you will know what happened. I lived with my upper anterior restorations(not ceramic) for over 30 years that had a very weird gum reaction. I had the gums come down and no recession but they were always puffy. No redness or swelling or soreness. I went to a periodontist who said he thought my hygiene was okay and not a cause. I went to another dentist who said that he suspected the metal was not pure and I was allergic to it. One day I decided to try a new way of rinsing when I brushed and flossed. I mixed a capsule of reishi mushroom powder in the water and rinsed for five minutes. I was amazed at how the puffiness went away and has not returned. I had no idea what I was doing and no training in dentistry that would have made me think that this would work. I would be interested to know what you think happened here.

Lots of vegetables, some fruits, meat, cheese, grain restriction, and limited sweets. Absolutely NO fluoride! Fluoride free dental products. Never fluoride treatments at the dentist. I distilled our water when we were on city water. They did brush twice a day and floss nightly. Their dentists have always been amazed at how clean their teeth are. My dentist told me that I have gingivitis. I have never seen any blood in my mouth during or after brushing or at any other time. However, I brushed my teeth vigorously with hard toothbrushes for years until I was in my thirties and I suspect that is why my gums are slightly recessive. I viewed photographs online of people with gingivitis. I see no evidence that I have areas of darker red inflammation. Recessive gums seem to be my only symptom, although my teeth are sensitive when my dentist cleans my teeth. My teeth are not sensitive at any other time.

26:18 so this is a great video and I’m glad you posted it
I had to pause because there’s something I want to add that I always thought was just common sense, but I don’t think anybody does anymore especially with children and the baby bottle
And that is drink water after you eat to rinse your mouth, but also to stay hydrated because so many conditions are caused by dry mouth
When I was little, I’d drink plenty of juice I loved orange juice
And I didn’t tolerate milk very well so my mother fed me a lot of yogurt and Swiss cheese, which I did tolerate well also other fermented food like sauerkraut
In addition after I ate, especially when I was very small (and I have memories of this) my mother would rinse out the bottle and fill it with water, and I would drink water
Not fluoridated, water or anything fancy just water it would rinse my mouth
And I grew up liking the taste of water, and wanting it with my meals
I spent my entire adulthood being made fun of by people for ordering two beverages, a standard beverage, and then a water
People kept telling me it was unnecessary to drink it was expensive. Why would I spend money on it?
I’d reply: don’t know I just always wanted it. I felt better when I had it. It cleanses my palette
    I never had a cavity
    Not once
    Or gum disease
It had nothing to do with sugar I eat a Mediterranean diet
    Not until I was 50
So I blame three things because all of a sudden I had cavities:
First, I had to wear something that starts with an M to go anywhere where I lived
Instant cavities in the front of my mouth
Second, I went through menopause at the same time as lockdown
I really do blame my hormonal shift for affecting my insulin and my microbiome
Finally, I blame getting sick. I was sick for a long time I had to go on several rounds of antibiotics. Everyone knows this throws off your Microbiome and micro biome in my mouth was included. So unfortunately my dentist was closed.
And also, this information was really not around early enough or soon enough so I could take precautions at home and prevent gum disease and cavities
I will say after I got sick to improve other symptoms like arthritis I went Paleo and my gums healed, but I also started brushing with a Different substance that would treat strep better without completely stripping my oral microbiome
My mouth is much much better. I can’t believe it. It’s really so much better.
So yes, I don’t think it’s the milk that’s to blame completely but you’re right don’t leave the baby bottle in the babies mouth while it’s sleeping with milk or juice or whatever it is that they are drinking
OK that’s it. I dictated this so it’s very long and probably has a lot of typos but I’m very much enjoying your video.

I would love to find out more about the success they’ve been seeing with the stem cell implants being done in states like North Dakota ….I’ve heard stories of what I consider miracles where a man had a full recovery and no signs of scaring or problems with his heart after receiving a stem cell treatment plan in North Dakota after he suffered a few massive heart attacks and was given only months to live …the guy who told me this story said he was totally mind blown! When this guy walked into his office and said he was this guys good friend he thought had passed away by then..he looked 20 years younger and was 100% healthy and no longer on disability and working like he was a 30 year old man again…there has been many stories regarding dental implants but with our own teeth being grown from our own stem cells in a lab and then implanted and growing a new tooth in our own mouth….but it’s hard to find info online anymore that’s not the bs narrative

I wish effective and affordable dental stem cell treatments were available now. I had to have a badly infected root canal tooth removed a couple years ago, and it was an important molar for chewing. I don't chew on that side anymore and have experienced bone loss as well as muscle loss on that side of the face. I've also been experiencing jaw spasms occasionally which cause my lower jaw to thrust forward, my lower teeth catch my front upper teeth. That hurts and scares me that my teeth are going to break. Tooth removal can be a trigger for that issue. I found the name for that condition but can't remember it.

Layperson comments about infant dentition, cavities, breast milk, at about 23 mins in. Kevin Stock makes the point that breastfeeding infants will not be feeding constantly, more usually about 3-hourly, but that they have no teeth before they are a few months old. This is surely worth attention because breastfeeding on demand is the correct way to regulate nutrient intake for babies, *not* an imposed régime of three-hourly feeds. The nutrient constituents of breast milk varies according to how long and how frequently an infant feeds, so allowing the baby to lead the way in regulating this is essential. Many infants, especially during a growth spurt feed very frequently, perhaps hourly or even more frequently, and it's important to allow them to do so, because this will in turn regulate the amount of milk the mother produces. Also frequent short feeds give the baby more dilute milk that longer feeds that bring down the hind-milk, which may make a difference (?). During these early months the baby has no teeth to rot, so the dental aspect of frequent feeding is immaterial. Once the teeth begin to appear, the intervals between feeding will have naturally begun to space out - again, baby-led. I say this in case anyone took away the idea that they should be imposing particular spacing of "feeds" on babies under six months old; this is not necessary.
