telling my dog "no" and lowering my voice at him always worked. he was trained as a puppy that it meant kennel time too. so when he got older he responded to that and corrected his behavior and it made everything so much easier with him. we didn't even need a fence to keep him in the backyard.
This I really helps cause I was doing some of these things to my dog and that explains why he is kinda sad and slow and acting weird these days... so I'm telling my parents EVERYTHING that we were doing wrong in this video so we make sure our dog is safe from bad things coming his way. Thank u!
This video is full of lies or exagerations. Esp about cleaning teeth THAT often. Even humans dont need to clean twice a day. You need a proper professional cleaning from stones and etc one a month. Usual home cleaning is nothing but pleasant paste smell and removal of some food leftovers
1. My dog doesn’t wear a collar, only harnesses when we leave the house she could very easily escape her harness if she needs too but she’s blind, diabetic and has never gotten out of her harness. 2. Who in their right mind would leave a dog alone in a parked car? 3. I brush her teeth brush 1-2 a week with her doggy brush and peanut butter flavoured paste. 4. She is on a strict diet due to her diabetes 5. There aren’t any dog parks near where I live 6. She doesn’t get punished ever because a) she’s been through enough in her life and b) there’s no point, shes already trained 7. I try to walk her but she’s so old and she’d prefer to be carried 8. We have tried many different car seat thingys, but the best one she likes is just a normal harness attachment 9. Again I wouldn’t yell at her, she’s been through too much 10. I always write on my calendar when she needs her flea, tick, heart worm medication 11. My room is only clean so she doesn’t get hurt 12. I am very aware of all her health issues, she has diabetes, a hurt murmur, Cushings disease, she is blind and she is loosing her hearing. My dogs name is mia, I rescued her with her brother Monty (rest in peace lil guy) when they where ten, they where actually my 11th birthday prezzie. Mia turns 14 this May and I must say I am the luckiest girl in the planet to have gotten to know the two best dogs in the world. :D
I used to think I was a little rude to my dogs but after watching this I realised I wasn't, I love my dogs so much and I would never want to hurt their feelings!
Truth! Dogs can understand other words. "Do you need to go out", is one thing my dog understands. Also, dogs can learn their names. They understand that that 'word' is referring to them. Once knew an owner whose dog knew where they couldn't go simply by having their name called once they went a certain distance (on a beach, a public place). The dog soon learned the area in which she was allowed to be in. No zapper or electronics needed. Granted the owners worked daily with this dog, but the point remains.

@@JanCarol11 It's ok on a Sunday drive on dirt roads doing 15 MPH. My dogs know when it's Sunday lol 😁 Yes, you're correct. Your post is very good advice.
My puppy is in heaven.. In memory of Max E. He died June 9th of a rattlesnake while hiking..😢 Edit: The thing that makes me the saddest about my puppy Max, is that when he got bit.. he suffered so bad. He was panting and crying. My mom and dad were giving him water and treats to help him feel more comfortable in the situation. We called vets, emergency vets, and etc. None of them could help, we tried to move him on a tarp, and that's when the venom got to the rest of his body, and killed him. He is now buried in dirt and sand, and a heart rock we found on the trail. I'm glad he's happy now.
This video is insanely important. I had a dog as a child, and he became very aggressive and would attack people. My family assumed there was just something wrong with our dog mentally, and eventually we had to put him down. Now I realize that we were simply just bad misinformed owners, disciplining a dog the same way my parents disciplined me. With shouting and physicality. Which in the end, never truly works.

My Shultz Tzu dog has loved socks since a puppy. I will periodically give him an old sock but I tie a big knot in it before he gets it and I constantly check that the knot is tight. This is his favorite fetch toy; if it starts to get ragged I will replace it. I find, per your video, that I adhere to all of your recommendations. I have had dogs all my life and I try to be very careful with their health and happiness, I am 70 yo. I cherish my Milo❣️
I really need to watch this so that i could tell this back to my sisters. It was soooo scary to watch when they carry they're dogs. Is like the dogs are nearly dying.
Just to correct one point. You say my dog does not understand no. Often when walking he might begin to squat on someone's lawn to defecate. If I see him, and say.."DJ, no" he will always happily curb himself and finish the job. If a dog can understand I love you, a dog can understand no. And if you think that the command is delivered loud or harsh, you're wrong again. My Lab loves nothing more than to please me and make me happy, it's mutual, and when I see him about to engage in some dangerous or destructive behavior I simply say, no and he is excited to correct the behavior and get my appreciation, in fact, I think he just likes to know that I am paying attention. He doesn't just do it for attention either, many of his habits have ceased completely (like pulling me down the stairs on our way to a walk) just by repeating the word no a few times. One other point, when we're play wrestling and I playfully push him away saying, no he bounces back spinning, jumping, rolling and play mauling me. If it gets too rough and I want him to stop and I say , no (just a bit more stern) he clearly understands, stops and happily waits for me to restart the play. Just saying, a dog definitely understands, "no".
That's exactly what i disagree with in this video. Some misbehavior need to be instantly stopped by strictly saying 'no!', dogs will quickly realized what you don't want them to do as long as they received negative sign during those misbehavior . They are smart. Besides, some 'DON'T DO' behaviors can only be corrected by punishing rather than awarding. I mean, How do you correct a biting dog by awarding? Award them for stop biting? They may think you are awarding them for bite you and stop, lol. I don't know if a professional dog trainer can do this, at least this requirement is unrealistic for me.
If my puppy is playing too rough i go "OWww" and he stops and then he kisses ot then looks at me if im going to play again and he remembers to be gentle and i go good boy
I think what means more to the dog is the tone. If you say ‘no’ in a tone as if you are rewarding him, it is probably the same is saying ‘yes’ the same way.
My dogs teeth were already destroyed when we adopted him so after about two years of trying to fix it we got his teeth pulled and now he is very happy! PS I like = 1 adoption for a pup.
We just got a 7 month old dog. This is very new to me. I always had cats. This video is already showing and helping me get an idea of what to do. Thank you for all that 😁
I have two dogs, who are very disobedient, but when one is in trouble, the other acts like a perfect angel. *welp goes to show how me and my siblings act.*
Whenever one of my dogs is misbehaving, my dad will always yell at them, chase them around, and they'll just look so sad. I will literally have tears in my eyes.
Most important point is missing: Not educating the dog Some dog owners think their dog doesn't need to be educated but uneducated dogs can not only be annoying but also dangerous for themselves, the owners and other people around.
exactly these people commenting about their dog begging and eating stuff off their plates like they're proud to have an untrained dog.. like if they do that you know they have no respect for humans and would do much worse
I could really understand number 8 because my teacher’s dog got attacked as a puppy at a dog park. One thing that is harmful to dogs is taking it for way to much exercise. It can leave your pup exhausted and it can leave to dehydration and even passing out. I know this because this happened to my friends puppy. Keep your dog safe and healthy.
The only one of those mistakes I've made is not brushing my dogs teeth. We didn't start when he was a puppy (oops) and now he WILL NOT let me, he bites when I try.
I just started, and I’m worried. Some of her teeth are green near her gums. She already has a surgery scheduled and I can’t afford to have professional teeth cleaning right now
I also have 3 dogs. Their names are Oreo, Luna, and Jynx. Oreo is an 8 year old Springer Spaniel runt, Luna is a 4 year old White German Shepherd, and Jynx is a 9 month old Husky Mix

I wish I had a dog but I can’t cause my parents say it’s because we live in a apartment but my friend has a golden retriever named Leo and he’s adorable
My dog had surgery on her head. She got a cone. Oddly enough, she thought the cone was a punishment, so she refused to eat. We took her out to dinner with us and got her a plain burger. She felt much better, but stopped to lick off the grass because she was thirsty.
That will b rewarding them ! So that will work if yr there 2 pick them up. Rewarding them will cause them 2 keep being aggressive cuz they feel they r being rewarded. If yr dog is aggressive keep it away from situations that cause that reaction.
My mom is the opposite she brings my puppy everywhere. My puppy is a Pitbull mix with Rot wieler mix with st bernard. and has yellowish brownish eyes. He is adorable
what i dont seem to understand is why people think physical discipline is bad. FIRST things first, physical ABUSE and physical DISCIPLINE is VERY different. In my opinion, and how i've seen dogs who have excellent discipline + are affectionate and are still completely loved by their owners is that they have gone through some form of behaviourial training which involves a very light form of hitting during discipling training. ei. in the mouth to stop biting or on the nose to stop undesirable behaviour. This is ONLY if it is necessary and treats don't work in a particular scenario. LOGICALLY, in the animal world, dogs within the same pack have plenty of physical fights and playful fights to show each other their territory, limits and status. You can always love your dog but be strict so they know who's boss. If you don't show that actions have consequences, they will walk all over you. I've seen this with many many dogs. When their owners are newbies and don't know how to work with a dog, they end up breeding horrifyingly hyper-active, dominant and uncoorperative dogs. My two cents is that, physical DISCIPLINE is okay, ABUSE like slamming into a wall or hitting with hard objects is never okay!
I try to never hit, but when she does something dangerous and getting on to her wouldn't work giving a her slight whooping solved the problem immediately.
Curiositi What you say makes perfect sense but thing today are so different. Like what you just said about disciplining a dog with a tap on the nose or leg have been reported on RUclips as animal abuse and taking down, go figure. But I have seen tons of videos on owners feeding them people food( ice cream, pizza, cake..etc) and people think it cute but I call it animal abuse. I am so sick of everything labeled as animal abuse it's sickening. It looks like people have lost all common sense and despise any kind of discomfort. However it is the discomfort period when you grow character and discipline.
slime girl - they may not understand language but they pick up on the tone of your voice. Yelling isn’t the best way but being firm & change of tone. Having said that my youngest Dalmatian has a large vocabulary that he understands & we have to be careful using them as it winds him up! (most are food related ie. hungry, carrots, tea time, breakfast etc) 😊
Curiositi s I disagree that without physical discipline, your dog will “walk all over you. I’ve had an Akita (notoriously stubborn breed) and currently have a Boston Terrier, and both were/are well behaved with never any physical discipline. If voice and training are effective tools, when DONE CORRECTLY, why would you ever want to cause an animal discomfort? Bo is now so well trained that if he doesn’t respond to his sit command, all I have to do is stare at him and clear my throat, and he sits. Educating your animal is always preferable, to me, than causing them any kind of discomfort, no matter how small.
I had a dog named Angel. I watched her grow and learn from a puppy to an adult to a mother. I couldn't stand to be away from her. We loved each other and she was my protecter and my best friend. But one day, we had to move. And leave her behind. And im never gonna see her again. I still think about her all the time and never will let her out of my mind and memories. 😥😥😞
This is EXACTLY my story! I also had a dog named angel, another named miracle, and my parents got divorced and we couldn’t be with them as much and had to send them away...
If you have a dog with a flat snout (flat face), you should always use a harness on them if you want to take them on a walk with a leash. Most dogs with flat faces have breathing problems but if they don’t already have breathing problems, they can easily develop problems more than long faced dogs.
Can I please ask you a question the singer that that is usually when a dog goes up early March he eats some human food even if the vet tells me that he is ready that my puppy is that my dog is ready to eat humans food I can never ever feed him some of my human food
That's actually incorrect and can lead to massive behavioural problems. They are pack animals and you are their boss...they will walk all over you if you treat them as equals or back off. That does not mean you can't be friendly, but treating them "like humans" is one of the reasons there are so many frustrated dog owners out there
Chrinik: You are absolutely right! Not only spoilt dogs become bad, also human children, they become criminals. Abusing and disciplining are two entirely different things. I love my dogs but never treat them like a human child.
@@Chrinik I don't know much about dog psychology, but I do know that they're part of the family as pets, yes, and we should, as responsible human beings respect the fact that one day, your dog will just leave. It happened to me. The dog was an elderly girl that I love very much. That's exactly what you're talking about, and I appreciate your insight.
Chrinik some have you ever heard about the dog training revolution that was a myth in the 90s grandpa! unleess u accidenty adopted a wolf u cant dominate a dog dogs have almost no wolf dna whatsoever the average dog has 1% or less wolf dna so yeah
Chrinik It saddens me you and the 10 other people who gave you a thumbs up still believe in the dominance theory towards dogs. Dogs are NOT pack animals, and the dominance theory has been disproven time and time again by wolf and dog behaviorists. It's science, not a mere opinion. Please do some research before subjecting your dog to that kind of unhealthy treatment. So many people are misinformed about how to properly treat dogs; it's really very disheartening.
Some things I disagree with after working with dogs for a decade... Your dogs collar should be loose enough to come off in emergencies. Your dog should be TRAINED not to run away. Feed your dogs raw bones. That's how dogs have cleaned their teeth for 15,000 years. Even my oldest dogs have the teeth of a 2 year old. Dogs should eat scraps for treats. Again, a 15,000 year old practice. They won't get salmonella from raw chicken trimmings. Their digestive track was made for raw meats. Do it somewhere where humans won't be contaminated. Dog food is still the best for the main diet. Read up on what happens to dogs who eat too much protein. The video is right, no physical training. If you harm them they might assume that's what the bigger animals do. If you can hurt them, they can hurt a toddler. After all, that's the way they were trained. Also with no physical training, dogs should not be handled for training. Hands off is best. If your dogs running for a busy road or about to eat a dangerous food, you won't have time to physically stop them.
bethany finch. By physical as in heavy handed, you can't know how dogs well interpret violence. They may be fine for years then end up on the news. Compare how many kids get bit in the hands and faces compared to adults. By physical without violence, that's great if a dog is within reach. In the real world it doesn't usually end up that way. Dogs should be trained to obey voice.
A good practice I've learned to back this up or as a good "strategy" (I am NOT a professional dog trainer, though I know a lot about biology, and as a branch off of that I've learned a bit about animal behavior, along with having had dogs for most of my life) is if they get snippy, or DO at any point full out try to bite (which is incredibly rare unless with new dogs that my family adopted) I always push them back a foot or two without too much force each time they try to make a snip or bite, which eventually teaches them that trying to bite or snip at me will result in them wasting their own energy, and if they do go for a full out attack (has only happened twice in my life) I just kept pushing them back a bit until they were tired, then put them in the kennel for the night (both instances happened at night time, if it were day I'd likely leave them in there for 2-3 hours), yes, its time consuming, but if they are in SEVERE need of learning not to bite or snip, just show them that by trying, they wont do anything to you, and will drain themselves of energy, and then use positive reinforcement to show your role as alpha until they understand it will be much easier and better of a life on them and you if they just obey the rules you set
Mild physical training is actually okay, and should be coupled with vocal training as a fall back in case you're not in reach. Just hitting or just yelling gets no one anywhere. Typically children are attacked because a dog is not trained at all, or because the child antagonized the dog by not respecting the dogs personal space. If you pull on a dogs ears, yank at their whiskers, try and ride it, and generally be rude, you're almost asking for it. No matter how well a dog is trained it is still an individual and demands respect, strangers are less likely to be tolerated.
Come off in emergencies? Like what? Why would you want it to come off? I don't agree on that. Yes, it should be trained but it still needs to be a bit tight just in case.
nofy bn it needs to come off because what if the dog went inside a bush and it got stuck the collar should come off easy and then dog is free that's why and for other stuff to
Dogs absolutely CAN eat raw meat and eggs. Many people ONLY feed their dogs a raw diet, and it's proven to be very healthy. I'll also give my dog some cooked vegetables like green beans, but mostly he eats raw meat. He'll eat raw meat loaf which includes raw ground beef and crushed up raw eggs, including the shell crushed into and extremely fine powder so there's zero sharpness, which adds calcium. He'll also eat raw beef cubes and raw chicken. Sometimes I'll throw him a whole top round steak, a couple pork chops, a ham hock or two (mostly as a snack), or half a rack of ribs. He'll eat the meat off the ribs and then chew the bones. NEVER give a dog cooked bones or brittle or small bones like in chicken and fish (my dog eats raw fish too, but I spend a lot of time making sure there are NO bones in it), but they can have raw beef or pork bones. All of this is MUCH better than kibbles that contain unnecessary and unhealthy fillers and chemicals. Most kibbles only contain the garbage parts of meat that are left over after meat is packaged for humans. It's unhealthy and doesn't contain the vitamins and minerals dogs need, and then remaining vitamins and minerals are burned off when the kibble is baked. A raw diet may be too expensive for some people, but dogs absolutely CAN eat raw meat and be extremely healthy. Dogs may be domesticated now, but their physiology is still extremely similar to wolves. They're designed to eat raw meat. Even when they were first domesticated people gave them meat, not kibble. At no point were they bred to only eat kibble, so it's nonsense to think that's all they can safely have.
escotg GAMING lol i have 2 dogs and 4 puppies, one dog isnt trained yet because its a guard dog and the other is a play dog, the puppies are still too small (they got born two days ago)😂
Yzzai Guillermo just saying but guard dogs are still supposed to be trained. Example sometimes you need to teach your dog to not be afraid of firecrackers gunshots and such. If you so called “guard dog” is afraid of firearms and such not saying that he or she is you would be in some trouble..... I don’t think robbers muggers or whatever would try and do whatever to you without a firearm.
I had a collar where I could fit 2 fingers under. We walked along a busy road and my dog shyed at someone who was raking leaves (she was a rescue dog and had previously been beaten) and she pulled to get away from the rake. The collar slipped over her head and she ran onto a busy road and was hit by a car and died. The biggest mistake I ever did was having her collar where I could fit 2 fingers under it. Your dogs collar is never too loose. You'd be surprised how many people walk with their dogs collar too loose. Fatal mistake
Yes, and also it depends on how much fur the dog has. My dog has very thick fur around the neck. It needs to be tighter. Thank God he's nearly 11yrs old and does not run away anymore. He even looks back to see where I am. So sorry about your dog.

telling my dog "no" and lowering my voice at him always worked. he was trained as a puppy that it meant kennel time too. so when he got older he responded to that and corrected his behavior and it made everything so much easier with him. we didn't even need a fence to keep him in the backyard.

4. She is on a strict diet due to her diabetes
5. There aren’t any dog parks near where I live
6. She doesn’t get punished ever because a) she’s been through enough in her life and b) there’s no point, shes already trained
7. I try to walk her but she’s so old and she’d prefer to be carried
8. We have tried many different car seat thingys, but the best one she likes is just a normal harness attachment
9. Again I wouldn’t yell at her, she’s been through too much
10. I always write on my calendar when she needs her flea, tick, heart worm medication
11. My room is only clean so she doesn’t get hurt
12. I am very aware of all her health issues, she has diabetes, a hurt murmur, Cushings disease, she is blind and she is loosing her hearing.

Tyvonna Jones same I say “no Bella plz don’t do dattt”

My puppy is in heaven..
In memory of Max E. He died June 9th of a rattlesnake while hiking..😢
Edit: The thing that makes me the saddest about my puppy Max, is that when he got bit.. he suffered so bad.
I hope you know that he is happy now and he is watching down on you ❤️

This video is insanely important. I had a dog as a child, and he became very aggressive and would attack people. My family assumed there was just something wrong with our dog mentally, and eventually we had to put him down. Now I realize that we were simply just bad misinformed owners, disciplining a dog the same way my parents disciplined me. With shouting and physicality. Which in the end, never truly works.
They didn't put you down though..

My shi tzu loves socks as well. I tie two soft ones together and he will spend hours untying the knot
Just be prepared to pay about $1000 or more on an exploratory surgery to get it out of their guts. I'm a vet assistant. Seen dozens of times.🙄
"like pulling me down the stairs" You just made my night XDXD
They do not fact check. Are you a subscriber to this channel? If so, please unsub?
My dog died some days ago. Her name was Stacey and she was a Labrador retriever. She was only 2 months old. I miss her...

Not educating the dog
Some dog owners think their dog doesn't need to be educated but uneducated dogs can not only be annoying but also dangerous for themselves, the owners and other people around.

what i dont seem to understand is why people think physical discipline is bad.
But still why yell at the dog, sometimes they dont even know better, or understand why
slime girl - they may not understand language but they pick up on the tone of your voice.

laze -E Who did you leave her behind to?
This is EXACTLY my story! I also had a dog named angel, another named miracle, and my parents got divorced and we couldn’t be with them as much and had to send them away...
laze -E I almost cried reading this cause I was thinking about my cat gosh I’m so pathetic 😭
laze -E why did you leave her? Go get her back now
You're so cruel! Left her behind but YOU actually sad? Hmmmmmm OK.
If you have a dog with a flat snout (flat face), you should always use a harness on them if you want to take them on a walk with a leash. Most dogs with flat faces have breathing problems but if they don’t already have breathing problems, they can easily develop problems more than long faced dogs.
its called brachycephalic, and you are right, they tend to suffocate a lot, and they can't cool down by panting as easily as other dogs.
Hey Hey u r right . I have a pug and harness is the best for him not collar
If you have a dog with a flat snout, then you are pathetic and cruel.
I walk my Boston with a harness but he's fine on the collar (he never pulls).
Can I please ask you a question the singer that that is usually when a dog goes up early March he eats some human food even if the vet tells me that he is ready that my puppy is that my dog is ready to eat humans food I can never ever feed him some of my human food

Davie Ingham shih tzu*. Rip😢
Davie Ingham shitzu* also why will it make you happy to get likes
sorry for your loss
Trying to get likes out of your dogs death
I Know I Spelled Shitzu Wrong.
Dont treat them like a dog, that's your bestfriend, your child, your amigo! Treat them like it
That's actually incorrect and can lead to massive behavioural problems.
Chrinik
It saddens me you and the 10 other people who gave you a thumbs up still believe in the dominance theory towards dogs.
Yes, it should be trained but it still needs to be a bit tight just in case.
nofy bn it needs to come off because what if the dog went inside a bush and it got stuck the collar should come off easy and then dog is free that's why and for other stuff to
I love how he ended it when he was talking

And if you have
Sad
My dog has eaten raw meat and vegetables her entire life and in November she will be celebrating her 18th birthday.
Exactly
Gen Cas my dogs used to be on a all raw meat diet, but they ate so much so we had to stop it
Gen Cas finally someone who knows what they are talking about
I love your videos. I learn many things about it and amazing riddles 😁

11:18 literally every well trained dog understands “no”. If your dog doesn’t understand what no means then you are a horrible person
i totally agree with you, i scouled my dog and she always listens to me and always trusts me
He said if you yell or even scream
escotg GAMING lol i have 2 dogs and 4 puppies, one dog isnt trained yet because its a guard dog and the other is a play dog, the puppies are still too small (they got born two days ago)😂
My dad teaches in German so no is nein and I don’t think they know what English no means soooo......
Um are my dad an I still horrible people? 😐
Dog: *jumps on me*
Me: *see’s this episode*
Dog: -_-
Same lol
the dog promoted my channel
Ok i gess
This is your dog speaking,
GIVE ME MORE TREATS WOMAN
Dogs can eat milk and raw eggs and meat, they are perfectly fine with these... That list is a bit overzealous
I was thinking the same thing
Especially meat.....last time I checked, they’re obligate carnivores.....
You can't eat water or milk it's something you drink like water. And you are right Arnab Deka
@@genevievealexander3327 ohh thanks miss
I like dogos more than people
There are not as many humans than dogs. We need humans to reproduct, making more people to take care of dogs. However, it's your opinion. ;」

Your just trying to get likes
@It’s Ryan Diaz I think everyone knows that-_&
L cant say something but my hamster died
I had a collar where I could fit 2 fingers under. We walked along a busy road and my dog shyed at someone who was raking leaves (she was a rescue dog and had previously been beaten) and she pulled to get away from the rake. The collar slipped over her head and she ran onto a busy road and was hit by a car and died. The biggest mistake I ever did was having her collar where I could fit 2 fingers under it. Your dogs collar is never too loose. You'd be surprised how many people walk with their dogs collar too loose. Fatal mistake
Chalron Bjork :(
Chalron Bjork I'm very sorry my dog got hit but she survived , I'm very sorry
:(
OMG :((
Yes, and also it depends on how much fur the dog has. My dog has very thick fur around the neck. It needs to be tighter. Thank God he's nearly 11yrs old and does not run away anymore. He even looks back to see where I am. So sorry about your dog.
Im making my dog have his best life amazing
You didn't mention why dogs like to sleep where you sleep.
