    I have been getting a stupid amount of cavities every year despite upping my oral hygiene routine significantly. My dentist always told me to "floss more" yet my cavities never went away. Here are some cavity fighting mechanisms I wish I'd been told earlier:
    Disclaimer: I am not a dentist, just a fellow high caries risk citizen trying to spread awareness about cavity prevention that I wasn't told until I got way too many holes in my teeth.
    -drink lots of water: this ensures your saliva production is good (saliva repairs cavities) and bonus if your area has fluorided tap water that's great for your teeth. Lots of filtered water doesn't have fluoride. Drinking water constantly also washes away bad bacteria and sugars that accumulate on your teeth. Dry mouth lets decay go WILD, this is probably the most important thing do (second is manage your diet, next point)
    -reduce the number of time you eat carbs in a day. This includes bread, fruit, rice, pasta, sauces, potatoes, sugar in coffee/tea,pop literally anything with sugar or carbs. The frequency of sugar exposure matters more than the quantity of sugar you eat in a day. The more frequently you eat sugar, the more cavities you get. I strictly eat 3 times a day (I eat as much as I can in one sitting) but the general recommendation is to have no more than 3 meals and 2 snacks in a day, and let your teeth rest for 2-3 hours between food so your saliva has time to repair areas that have been demineralized. Eat your dessert and sugary drinks with your meal as well.
    -MIPaste: you can get this on Amazon or through your dentist, it delivers calcium and other essential nutrients to your teeth to help remineralize them and repair white spot lesions (areas with little enamel).
    -ensure you are getting enough vitamin D , k2, calcium and magnesium. I've started taking supplements for these vitamins.
    -consume xylitol! It's a sugar substitute that kills cavity causing bacteria. You can chew xylitol gum,chew xylitol mints or add pure xylitol to your fluorinated water/coffee/tea. Be warned xylitol is toxic to dogs and may make you gassy if you consume too much so don't go overboard with it.
    -wait at least 30 min after eating before brushing for your enamel to reharden otherwise you will be brushing away your soft enamel and that's irreparable.
    Finally, supposedly diet plays just as large a role in cavity prevention as hygiene. If you keep getting cavities, cut down on the frequency of meals (more important) and/or work on eliminating or reducing simple carbs from your diet. And don't drink pop! That shit is really bad for your enamel.
    Hope this helps someone! The above is what I learned after years of bad dentist advice. I'm happy to see I am not the only one being afflicted by poor dental health, I empathize strongly with its suckiness 🥲

      I agree with all this! I had two surface cavities at the dentist right before corona hit and needed a crown as well, so I had to wait. I making a dentist appointment, I HATE going, but I noticed I had another small surface cavity and I thought WTH! I brush and floss. Ive been vegan for almost a decade and after researching vegans and oral health I couldn’t believe my diet was ruining my teeth! So I read everything I could and watched a ton of videos, the next day I basically went from vegan to keto, I don’t wanna be on keto and I’m starving to death and it was hard enough to eat meat and dairy again, but two weeks in two of my surface cavities are gone! I’m eating cheese like crazy, fish, raw kale, raw spinach, carrots, peppers, lots of raw veggies,, chicken, even a pork chop! No carbs in two weeks but my mouth looks great! My teeth are white as ever and my gums look wonderful. I agree about the water! I threw away my crystal lite and water water and rinse with water and swish with water and so much water! Lol. I rinse after I eat. I’m gonna take what you said and eat three times a day because I’m starving. Will also look into the mi paste. Taking Cold liver oil. Also using the xylitol mints, I’m using a low RDA toothpaste, I will switch to a non fluoride. I’m brushing VERY lightly. I floss more than I brush. I brush with water sometimes in the shower! Tongue scraping and coconut oil pulling also, Now I’m gonna have a heart attack from keto but my teeth look better 😂 ❤

      @@RubyRooSimonPoo WOW! That's so encouraging! Since the last time the dentist said they wanted to remove two teeth from my mouth, I have taken a reverse from them. I modified my diet a little and the bleeding has been, so far, stopped. I refuse to accept their diagnosis to remove my teeth - it seems that some of them enjoy making money off tooth removal. My teeth are filling up again and no more decay..... It seemed to me that they actually injured my teeth from the previous time I visited them because it was from that time things started going bad in my mouth. .... Yes, the teeth can regrow!

    I have been brushing my teeth AND using mouthwash 3-4x a day, flossing 1x a day or every other day for a span of 10 years. Within the last 5, I’ve somehow got 10 CAVITIES!! 😡
    I’m glad there are other explanations as to why cavities form, because I was dumbfounded when I was told I had that many cavities when I’ve taken such great care of my teeth. (and yes I didn’t go to the dentist for 5 years but other than that, very good self care)

    I’m going to the dentist next week and I’m scared of being judged, I have bad genetics when it comes to my teeth, I brushed twice or atleast once a day but I did have mental health issues for a while that caused my hygiene to be really bad. I’m pretty sure I have 5+ cavities in my mouth right now, I feel so disappointed because I want to do better but it just seems like everytime I go it’s another cavity, and I haven’t been to the dentist in a year because of corona so I feel like these cavities just progressed over time. I had braces and my teeth are so nice but the fillings just look terrible so I’m hoping maybe I can get composite fillings. I just hate going to dentist and them seeing my mouth because it just makes me seem like a failure, my entire life I’ve never had good teeth. But certain circumstances stopped me from having that as well, I’ve been doing better with my diet and lost over 70 pounds, low sugar. But I’m afraid they’ll look at me and see someone who doesn’t take care of themselves, and I can admit that’s how I was in the past but I’m different and that’s gonna change

    • @jchinckley
      @jchinckley 3 года назад +8

      I'm glad you decided that things are gonna change. The next step is to rein in your mind... keep it under your personal strict control and don't allow for negative outcome thinking beyond perceiving, accepting, and dealing with it. Meaning don't dwell on the bad things that can happen. Instead, spend your mental energy on thinking about the good things that can happen. You can even get your imagination in on it and imagine yourself if things were different and far better than they are now. Including your genetics. You may not be aware but the science of epigenetics has indicated you can change your genes/DNA with what you think if you do it too much.
      You may think this is a bunch of hokum but here's why it's not: when you change your thinking you do things differently. When your actions change the things around you will naturally change. If you keep up the change you cannot help but generate change in your life. It's inevitable. ...Or you can continue to think the same old things and continue to get what you've got in the past. Your choice.

    It has caused me so many problems. Completely screwed up my facial development and now my teeth. Yay.

    • @jchinckley
      @jchinckley 3 года назад +1

      You can fix that now, you know. I have sort of the opposite problem (not including mouth-breathing since I do that when I sleep but not while awake unless I'm exercising) in that I "grind" my teeth out of habit. That habit caused me to break my upper dentures (literally snapping them in half) 3-5 times before I went back in and had them make a new upper (I still have my lower teeth) with steel mesh in it. But my face is well developed and I have a "normal" looking jawline. There are devices that can help you develop your face by "chewing" them but from what I remember reading putting as much pressure as you can with your tongue against the forward part and palate of your mouth will help you fix the problems that come with poor facial development. (The "CEO of Jawline" who has gone too far imo, recommends one of those devices.)
      It's worth investigating. Also, I suggest practicing nose breathing as much as you can stand at least once a day. There are a pile of benefits attributed to doing so.

    That is my observation too, that some people eat sugar with sugar and hardly any cavity as their tooth structure, pH, genetic codes regarding their teeth is able to maintain healthy teeth, and there are people who brush, floss, eat high plant based diet with occasional or no sugary products and have cavities. I think those with weaker teeth can also learn to create healthy environment for their teeth by vitamin supplements, using the right natural remineralizing toothpastes, regular flossing, good diet etc

    • @OatmealTheCrazy

    Very good advise. I have black decay on DB lower molar and the 2nd molar is black/gray distally also. Trying to go to Guy's hospital but hard right now.
    I have pain that comes and goes, and I'm keeping afloat with lots of garlic and olive oil. Olive oil really helps. I keep it on that part for 10 min. Doing oil pulling now too + drinking bicarbonate of soda in water. I keep eating chocolate. Is organic but still.
    I also started to take oregano capsules and cod liver oil.
    Is there a possibility to reverse big dentine decay from reaching the pulp? And if I go to the dentist and I don't want root canal, can he cover the pulp with ledermix? and Fuji afterwards? I got a temporary filling that is still ok after 4 years. Temp fillings are ok for few years, or when the tooth needs settling.
    I had some decay in my other pre - molar and the dentist I worked with put something with fluoride on my pulp. That really caused me a lot of pain and I still needed root canal later on. I think he tried to strengthen my tooth like that.
    I haven't worked as a dental nurse in 12 years so I forgot a bit. Is there any good medicine to cover and settle pulp so I avoid root canal?
    Because I don't want to tell the dentist what to use as such.
    Root canal treatments are contributing to cancer immensely. There is a book on this matter that I still need to read.

      This isn’t a toothpaste, however some research has shown (can’t remember where I found it) that if you brush your teeth straight after eating your teeth haven’t had a chance to remineralise yet so you brush some of the enamel away. It may be worth looking into this.

    Surprising The number one reason people get cavities is that their body is deficient in calcium and desperate to the point where it starts to rob the calcium from the teeth. Fact. When I was 45 I all of a sudden had 10 cavities. I started to drink raw fresh baby coconut water , not the kind from the bottles at the health food store, those are pasteurized. With a little bit of raw fat like avocado or raw butter. Raw butter is better. In the 15 years since doing this, I have not had a single cavity. By the way, raw fresh baby coconut water is rich in calcium and the raw butter helps your body assimilate it. there is no need for the body to rob calcium from your teeth via bacteria which causes cavities. First scientist to prove this with research is going to be famous.

    Great video! I would love if you would also address some other possible reasons for cavities. I heard that eating fermented foods can cause cavities because they are so acidic. Is that true? Is there a way to still eat fermented foods but avoid the cavities?
    I also heard the natural toothpastes that contain glycerin can cause cavities because the glycerin blocks the tooth from remineralizing. Is that true? Should we not use toothpastes with glycerin?
    Would love to know what the research says.

    • @_BK.
      @_BK. 5 лет назад +5

      schniamhy You can soak the fermented foods (e.i. cabbage) in some water for a few minutes so that the acidity goes away, but still getting the nutrients that are in the fermented vegetable. As for glycerin - that's a good question. There's a lot of debut and true studies that glycerin acts like a protective sealant that keeps moisture in (thats why it's used in beauty products like face creams to help skin moisturised. As for teeth, there's isn't much evidence to prove that glycerin actually coats the teeth and prevents them from remineralising because as your saliva is basically water, the glycerin does dissolve. Major reasons for cavities are: Bad diet; too much sugar, white carbs, grains (which soak up the nutrients that are essential for teeth health), acidic foods, etc. Bad oral hygiene; not brushing effectively in order to remove the bacteria that is present - with the proper toothpaste (of course not fluoride toothpaste as that de-mineralises the tooth and basically eats the enamel away causing sensitivity, more cavities and even toxic poisoning. Milk; this has been a hot topic over decades and decades suggesting either it's beneficial for our teeth or not. More studies have show that it's one of the reasons why people get extremely bad teeth because in milk there's something which weakens the teeth and in the long run actually making them weaker and even prone to all sorts of diseases. Genetics; this could also play a major part in your teeths health. And there are some other factors but these are a few. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate and ask!
      Many thanks,
      Brigita

And whatever happened to Reminova? i wonder if they went under trying to use just flouride in the mineral solution instead of something your teeth are actually made of haha XD! Very cool area dentistry is heading, idk if you've been following the sick 1000s of year old cults.. but all this stem cell activation with collagen sponge makes me wonder if when people eat human babies (soft bones still) if its not a natural preventative for cavities... i know, sick but makes me curious im sure people for milennia would do ANYTHING to get rid of dental pain - luckily today we can use ethical alternatives XD! I’m on medications that cause severe dry mouth not only that it gets so bad it clogs my salivary glands (so if you ever get swelling in your lower jaw around your ear and can hardly turn your head with lots of pain guess what your gland is blocked), not only that I can only breathe out of one nostril due to an injury I sustained in childhood plus I found out I had gerd on top of it which again cause acid to go up into my mouth and rot my teeth. I also just found out this year I’m allergic to mouthwash like I can not get a break 😂 but the dentists will still ask every appointment if I brush and floss regularly and they will even say each cleaning wow you have hardy any plaque 😑

    I used to get cavities every year. I have periodontal disease too. I get cleaning every 3 months and my hygienist measure my pockets every time and dictate which tooth has bleeding.
    Before my 3rd oral bone graft surgery, I started eating natto. My husband was diagnosed with atherosclerosis and read that Vitamin K2 moves calcium away from soft tissues and deposits them to the bones. Natto happens to have the highest K2 content in food. Plus, it has nattokinase, which is antithrombotic. This happened at the beginning of covid and I heard news about blood clots, so, it gave me another reason to eat natto.
    2 weeks after my surgery, I had to do some cleaning. It was way sooner than usual because my periodontist was retiring. She was old and my guess she was afraid to get covid. On the day of the cleaning, I knew already that my surgery seemed to heal faster than my 2 previous ones. My hygienist measured my pockets and I could tell the pockets were shorter and significantly less bleeding.
    Then covid hit hard, so, I did not get cleaning for a year. The periodontist office did not close because it got bought by another doctor. The hygienist I have been seeing is still there. Despite of not getting cleaning for a year, my gums were doing fine. I got my 4th surgery and did more cleaning.
    At this point, I haven’t seen my regular dentist for 2 years. So, I have no idea if I have any cavities. Take note, I used to get cavities every year. Early this year, I finally went to my regular dentist and they said no cavities!
    So, eat natto if you want better dental health. All the brushing in the world did not stop my cavities from happening.. introducing natto in my diet did.

    My doctor said I have 15 cavities it just doesn't make sense ?! I truly have a gut feeling its all a lie how can I tell ?? I may have 5 or 6 at most where I felt the sensitivity pain that made me go for a checkup. I hope to get your answer soon. I feel that my teeth loses its enamel from topthpaste. It's too strong on my teeth.

    Like weston Price noted. Diet has much more to do good teeth than dental hygiene. Many primitive societies didn't brush at all yet had perfect teeth.

    This makes me so sad to learn now. I have friends who drink nothing but energy drinks and have no cavities and I have been sleeping with my mouth open forever and breath alot through my mouth generally and my teeth are so bad. Plus I recently thought I was living healthy and drank nothing but water with lemon for months and now I have seriously erroded teeth. So I guess I'll lose my teeth eventually and there is nothing I can do about it...

      I had my first outbreaks and I was tested back in 2017 for both HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both my husband and I tested positive for HSV-1 but negative for HSV-2. Last year I found out my husband was cheating, so I decided to do a retest on all STDs including HSV-1 and HSV-2, only difference is that this time I went to a different clinic. Anyway I tested positive for HSV-1 which I knew I had but surprisingly HSV-2 as well, I was so upset and got divorced with my husband. 3 months ago a friend of mine recommended me to an African herbalist Herbal Dr Titus manni , I explained everything that I have been passing through all these years to him and he encouraged me that I will be cured completely!. I ordered for his herbal exploit/protocol and used it accordingly to his direction and within 17 days of using the herbal medicine I was cured completely from my HSV-1 and HSV-2. I'm so relieved to say that I've not had even one outbreak and I was tested negative by my doctor. I'm feeling so great! from within and I truly endorse this product, it really works.
