I love how the Ood give that guard a taste of his own medicine at the end, and don't just simply kill him with their spheres.
And given we saw that same overseer whipping an Ood who fell out of formation from exhaustion, he had it coming.
All politicans and capitalists of our day should receive the same treatment.
@@afielsch Does that also include local politicians? ones with families?
@@afielsch honestly I hate niggas who be sayin the dumbest shit like this
@@JimmyBoy9878 yep thats what the commie wants. So much for love thy neighbor
The ood. They are creatures of peace. Because they always have to hold their brain in their hands. They couldnt live any other way without peace.
Trusting anything out of being weak makes you peaceful?
@@robinhyperlord9053 it's hard to be antagonistic when you trust everything not to kill you
@@theirishviking9278 Or when you're so easy to kill.
Well the odd and the dodo have same non hostiel envioment
Considering their physiology they really didn’t have much choice but to trust and be peaceful they were essentially the perfect species for any galactic power to exploit
The way the Ood looks at Donna with such utter compassion....
We need something this dark every once in a while
Gary4 DLC New series try so hard to be dark... and fail miserably. The RTD era was way darker without even trying.
Definitely agree with you. I think that's because they might be trying not to "offend" anybody or cause too much controversy. People are too easily offended nowadays -.-'
Gary4 DLC I think is just because Moffat ran out of ideas after series 7, losing the focus.
That might be... I hope its not the case though
Not per say...we need to see our way.."out of the darkness."
David Tennant channeling his inner Barty Crouch Jr
Ethan Dalton if only he did the tongue thing
Planet of the Ood. I remember this story as the one where that guy falls into the big brain and the Owner of the corporation turns into an Ood. Sounds silly, but the way its done makes it feel real and distrubing, something I think is a core element of Doctor Who. Doing things that sound funny when briefly summarised but isn't shown as silly.
Kinda like the masked child... who made everyone "infected" and as such gas masks grew out of their mouths... that was a big NOPE when I watched that episode
@@builderras1676 mega nope come to think of it most things are a mega nope
I haven't seen Doctor Who since 2015. But I'm surprised at how it takes itself so seriously. Kinda like anime I guess( not a huge anime fan.) The premise sounds absurd but the show is genuine and never lamp shades itself.
I was sitting in class and I was showing my friend Doctor Who clips, and when she saw the ood, she fell backwards off her chair and everybody turned around and looked at her. It was a good day today.
... what happened?
@@robinhyperlord9053 Rumor has it she’s still laying on her back after falling outta her chair 😂
0:41 Careful 10 your Barty Crouch Jr. is showing.
lol
Otter Dere hahahaha 😂😂 fairs
"HELLO FATHER😋"
I'll show you mine if you show me yours
Which is funny, considering James Potter also appears in this episode.
Hugely underrated story. Fires of Pompeii/Planet of the Ood is one the best double bills the show has ever had.
0:36 This kinda reminds me of when he played Barty Crouch Jr. Those facial expressions. I love this man's acting!
I love the way how Donna responds to him. Very rarely you get to see a companion respond with such passion
The primary purpose of the companion is to ask "Doctor, what is it?!" so he can lay down the exposition for the audience.
One of the best episodes in the RTD era in my opinion.
The Doctor I didn't like this episode tbh
The Doctor and one of the most underrated, like hardly anyone talks about this one
are you a real doctor ⊙_⊙
tio cle mente I think I have a degree in medicine but I graduated at the wrong century. 😁
Amen..
Really enjoyed this episode & seeing much more about the Ood :) Donna's scenes in this clip are brilliant, trust her to have the most common sense out of everyone in the room!
TARDISArchives I agree
TARDISArchives I'm sorry I'm reading this comment in your Welsh accent, can't help it! :(
Laura Reid don't be sorry that's brilliant! :')
TARDISArchives can't help it, I just love your voice :D
tardis archives they don't make epiosdes like this hopefully chirs does better
you can SEE both the Doctor's hearts breaking at 0:20. We've seen the fury of 10 many times, but it's very rare you see him so furious and heartbroken he doesn't even raise his voice... "He never raised his voice. That was the worst thing."
They were just in a bad m00D that's all
You must fix my mind. For it has been broken by the pun that is held in this jail of yours.
Dude, really?
And when a g00D 00D gets in a bad m00D, they make y00(D) f00D, like seef00D, or firew00D
@@tatertatertatertatertater looool
@@Jodacro-it4zz yes really
Amazing episode. The Ood did the right thing. No species deserves to rule over another.
Moooow
Live stalks anyone, Gardening is also a great profession
That's what happens when humans get greedy. It's just like what happened between the Navi and the humans in Avatar.
Well said.
No living thing
I want the 10th doctor and Donna back!! 😭😭
akikank _123 ;-;
yeah !
To wish for something that was will only make you want more...
They returned to audio last year.
Laurie Jones Audio? Where?
akikank _123 they are back in big finish
I never realised that Doctor Who had so much murder when I first watched this... 😂
Chris Fernandez Good heavens yes. In Chris Eccleston's season, "The Empty Child"/"The Doctor Dances" are exceptional in that no one actually dies (well, not from the alien stuff, it was in the middle of WWII). Nine even points it out, declaring with glee, "Just this once, everybody lives!"
to be honest, this is the very first Doctor Who episode i watched and this is the one that brought me into this amazing tv show.
0:37 "Lock me in a cage? You're too late- HAAAAAAAAAARGH!"
Never Mess with Mother Nature - this applies to all planets!
A great episode!
I cried so hard in this episode (;*△*;)
2:18 "You had your chance to help us."
This was a fantastic episode, Donna really shined as a character
Humans: *enslave each other throughout history*
Humans in the 21st century: Right let's not do that again. Slavery is wrong.
Humans in the 41st century: *does it again anyway*
Slavery will likely happen again in the future
@@SmileyDude909 It'll be the sentient robots next :/
*"Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it."*
@@SmileyDude909 actual slavery is still happening now, don't fool yourself.
The doctor also asks where donna’s sweater comes from, implying that humanity still does slavery in the form of sweatshops
I thought it was a bit strange that they bought back the red-eye thing in the Ood. In their first appearance the red eyes were caused by demonic possession, and even a human had his eyes turn red in the same story when possessed by the entity. So it really made no sense to me that they brought it back with a totally different explanation.
Yeah I thought it was weird, because Toby had the red eyes as well, they could of just done it without the red-eye and it would of been fine.
I think it’s an anger thing
It was explained as being Psychic domination. Which happened in both episodes. And Satan was probably using the anger buried in the Oods mind to help with domination.
All the Ood have a psychic connection, right? Maybe while Satan was busy trying to escape, the Ood were watching, learning, and telling the others how exactly Satan turned them into weapons. Hell, maybe Satan even helped them. A mass Ood uprising across the galaxy would sow a lot of chaos , chaos that he could easily exploit once he got away from the black hole.
bring back season 1-4 on Netflix.
Correction: BRING IT ALL BACK
CodeKillerz I swear it's on there. But it says season ends 31 March. NOOOOO
Add Classic Who too. It's hard to binge watch with limited stream releases
It's on Amazon prime for streaming atm. I own all the boxed sets but i still watch the streams lol.
That's true, though I don't want to pay for a second streaming service in addition to Netflix
Can I ask why they have an electrocution feature in the spheres?
thealiencommunicator It probably hasn't. But it transmits electricity, so it can be used as such.
They reroute and focus the electricity that powers the translator into a lethal force.
I think it's a side effect. With them talking, the electricity must light up the sphere so it works. Maybe they're muttering as they kill. Idk
@@X3H3X I think their "psychic powers" are actually electrical signals being broadcast between eachother--like living radio antennas. This would explain how magnetic interference from the "cage" is able to stop the motherbrain from communicating with the rest of the Ood. The sphere would then work just like a wireless telephone: it catches the electrical signals being sent from the Ood's mind and converts them to sound waves.
The red-eyed Ood are explained to be jacked into the motherbrain directly, and are acting as soldier ants to break the circle surrounding it and free everyone, so they are channeling the bioelectric force of their _entire species_ through them at that moment.
The Ood are obviously immune to their own power, and they've never shown any signs of aggression to humans, so the designers probably thought it was unnecessary to put a safety limit on the sphere. Without a limiter the Ood can just "will" as much power into the sphere as they wish, to the point where it's instantly lethal to a human while remaining harmless to them.
I believe it’s Satan mixed with self defense creating this weapon
This scene alone is like a minisode of DW.
1:51 Damn, you can see on that lady's face she is realizing what's happening before anyone else does. Genre savvy.
What a terrible way to go. electrocuted by a spaghetti monster. Still, could be worse.
They deserved it anyways
Could be Daleks
Mate, either the Ood or the Daleks, take your pick
I mean there are two ways that sentence could be interpreted and I’d rather go this way than the very not PG13 way
What about the people who got pounced by them? We never saw what the Ood did to them. Probably because it was so horrific.
this episode always brings tears to my eyes
1:57
They're serving alcohol to the guests? (Hence the guy is a bit drunk). I thought the woman, Solana, mentioned earlier that no alcohol allowed on the base to the CEO after mistaking his hair tonic for alcohol.
My guess is that the staff are not allowed alcohol but the buyers can have it
I wish the music that starts at 2:36 was officially released. It also played earlier on when the Doctor is being chased by the giant claw. It's so cool :(
What a shame they didn't put the "Doctor.Donna.Friends" part
This episode is one of my personal favorites. I got so emotional the first time I heard the Ood sing
I feel old but I'am gonna say this they don't make them as good as they use to :P
dinoworld112 Please, this is still relatively recent for Doctor Who. The golden days of Hinchcliffe and Holmes were long before this.
Things change.
They really don't. Sorry to say but the 'Hybrid' arc was probably the worst. Literary anything that's a cross-between species could be 'the Hybrid'. Look, a Mule - HYBRID. Look, Diesel/Electric Car - HYBRID. It's not even solved as a Hybrid can't be two people. Google the definition, it even says its not.
BUT hopefully series 10 can be a return to good form or atleast series 8 form, series 8 was good.
Oh for sure, The oods they sell these days are so low quality. I remember when I was a young man purchasing my first Ood. He was so much faster at getting everything done.
dinoworld112 this is recent, it's 2008 don't feel old! Honestly I think Doctor Who was way better before, in the 60s, 70s and 80s.
2:41 basically walks right into the Ood
Aaah yes, Planet of the Ood, an episode where the Doctor did sod all except get captured with Donna, and everything would have happened exactly the same way whether he was there or not LOL 😂
Patrick Hannon actually there was no way for the Ood to stop the destruction of the higher brain before it was too late
@@Howyaduing you could make an argument for either claim! Interesting!
Wow, it's Number 10 himself. He's the new voice of Scrooge McDuck.
Is it just me or the ood just too cute
0:53 This is why Donna is amazing
I love the oods! They are my second favorite doctor who aliens! The daleks always number 1 of course.
I just loved how the doctor and donna had that sibling relationship XD
i just noticed the ood are like a good version of mindflayers
Remember when Doctor Who was good? feel old yet?
Season 26 was Amazing. I still like NuWho, but it lacks some of the charm the Classics had in my opinion, especially in recent series (namely 7 and 9).
Ges Inc. that's just not true
ADarthTokuDalek I never questioned the quality of the "extended universe". My first reply wasn't directed towards you.
ADarthTokuDalek that's true.
But did the classic series force in a really op character who not many people liked at the time into Canon and make them responsible for the entire show. No.
Barty Crouch Jr. really just watched Captain Darling turn into and Ood
2:45 double attack! Brutal! 😂😂
Loved this 🙂 Donna and 10th are so good 😅😅
Doctor Who is honestly my favourite tv series ever!!
Alisha Vlogs SAME
The Ood are the best. Hope they make a worthy return!
NOOOOO I WAS HOPING THIS VIDEO WOULD LAST TIL THE 'DOCTORDONNADOCTORDONNA' PART BUT ALAS
This episode was very......ood
Your a very ood fellow you know that right
bring the Ood back
0:43 umm doctor... your Bartley Crouch Jr. is showing...
This was Oodly satisfying.
This is so sad because The Ood did nothing wrong but were imprisoned, tortured and lobotomised because humans are lazy.
Donna was right. The Universe isn’t all sunshine and rainbows but sometimes when it comes down to it, it’s up to you to change that
Even the gentlest of people have their snapping points.
And when that happens, not even the fires of Hell can save you.
2:36 They are so popular now they're appearing across the universe(s)! (behind the ood btw)
That screech of Barty Jr.😁😁😁
The only thing I’m grateful for in the newer seasons is that the ood never came back and be ruined by incompetent writers.
I love during the whole gunfire sequence there is one Ood that just sprints across the screen
2:30 Is that Ood for "let me give you a piece of my mind"?
I miss Donna!
You could say it is a revoloodtion.
I just realized the doctor played Bartimus Crouch Jr
ive seen this episode so many times and it judt dawned on me its the year 24something something and they still use 21st century guns
k f it’s set in the year 4126 but u still make a good point why would they have traditional bullets that far into the future
Ladies & Gentlemen, change of plans---RUN =))
"I'm a doctor."
"doctor who?"
Pretty sure that deadly translation orbs are a major design flaw.
Lord Inquisitor Sec
The orbs where not intended to be deadly.
Percy: It’s a revolution...
Oh I thought it was a nugget of the purest green!
My absolute favourite episode
The Ood scared me so much for a good few years after an Ood episode.
0:43 Doctor your Barty's showing
I used to watch this and watching it again still scares me.
Donnan meeting the Twelve Doctor please :D
Damn it, I thought this was a trailer that would signify the return of the Ood, not a clip from an old episode.
It's weird- the Ood are basically a copy of the Voc Robots and the Sensorites ( from Classic Who) and yet I think they're great.
Sometimes we're the real monsters.
Man barty crouch definitely changed after goblet of fire guess the dementors got to him worse than serious
Possibly the most friendly alien that won't kill the doctor. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Doctor Donna :'(
This episode was so sad. Poor Ood.
I love the Ood so much! This was one of the best episodes!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
0:42 Calm down there, Barty
legend
2:42 wow she just walked right into that one
Luke McHenry quite shocking isn’t it.
Donna “ I’ve spent all that time looking for you doctor
“ I want to go home “
NEVER SAY I WANNA GO HOME TO THE DOCTOR
I’m glad this is official because if it wasn’t I would be annoyed for them lying
A very good WHO episode.
this was one of the more disturbing and dark episodes of doctor who
3:17 Ood: hello!
"There born with there brains in their hands.. That makes theme peaceful.."
Huh??
She said "people".
Gamelover254 no she didn't
omg i remember this
Last time somthing like this happend they were under the control of SATAN
The ending of the episode was the best
The oods are like a both good and evil cult
Barty Crouch Jr?
😂
The Ood are so cute 😭😭
CANT WAIT FOR SEASON 10!!!
Well, this video is pretty *ood*
I'll see myself out
