15:10 - 19:15 Great insight on how to break the "bicep curls lock up" against your armbar. Summary: 1. Pull his other elbow towards you, cross your ankles (lock your feet) and keep your knees open to secure position. 2. Move your chest closer to your elbow, get a strong bolt cutter grip (palm to palm). 3. Pull left/push right until you break the grip. 4. Move your knees together, adjust angle, lay back and finish.

This is one of the most comprehensive arm bar lessons I've ever seen! really nice! especially with the free-flowing communication between Firas and Karel. Anyone who is attentively listening to what they are saying in regards to establishing different strengths and weaknesses between positions - deep implications of jiujitsu are being expressed here!
Hi Mestre Firas! i am a 1 year White Belt, I have been watching your videos, and I have noticed that you respond to comments from people, so I decided to write something. your videos have helped me enormously. very detailed and a very clear narrative of what is showing, I can even understand everything, although English is not my first language. could do a video on how to control the nerves before a competition, or how to better elaborate a fight plan for a jiujitsu competition, and how to make a kind of amateur training camp, in relation to what to train each week, as to be more efficient with our training and not to improvise each session, to be myself my personal trainer in a more objective way and to plan better. thank you very very much from Chile
I watched this video 6 years ago when i was a white belt. Now im about to be brown and still use all this stuff. I prefer the mounted ambar he shows.. Im 155 so dropping back for armbar is a risk on a bigger opponent. All his stuff is so smooth and technical
@@objectivistathlete I'm still at it. Got my blue belt in February brother. It's so random to see a reply 2 years later but I hope you're going strong as well.
Thank you. I was looking for long time the details of the mount top armbar finish. I prefer to slide my shin across the face instead of step over as you did it if the attacked arm is not under the armpit Lot of valuable information here, I love your channel
This stuff is solid gold. Big fan of how you explore the various situations that come up as the position flows. As a fairly big lad of 300+ pounds with long arms (and randomly a good ability to squirm out of grips for my size), I can't remember the last time anyone finished me with the regular sat down style armbar. The older guys would catch me all the time however, with very sneaky armbars like these while retaining top. They had no interest in even giving me a change to squirm out and take top postion. The leverage of a decent armbar like this seems to work even better against big dudes like me due to the leverage working against a longer limb, because like Firas said, there is so much control forcing the big guy to the mat, the small guy 'feels' heavier. An important concept I've been working on for ages now. I'm just a crappy white belt but if I can secure anything like an S-mount or knee on belly, it's normally just a matter of time until they need to take a risk and explode out into something far worse.
Great vid! The “armpit” grip is very tight but requires a lot of training. Natural inclination is to flare the elbow out and grab the arm b/c it feels like you’re letting them go.
10:31 ive thought that for years. I have seen so many fights that turn because someone gave up top possion for submission attempt. I never give up the top when I get it.
Damn Pravec transitions so smoothly and fluidly. I can’t wait till my bjj is this high level. I need to find his school and go visit and train with him.
Omoplata is offered by the opponent a lot when he gets into trouble in your guard for that precise reason - it’s easier to escape than arm lock or triangle. That’s why it’s important to develop follow ups on your opponent escapes.
Was working an armbar from the mount with that armpit grip yesterday. You do have to be very careful if you fall back because it's hard to measure the force with which you are cranking.
Great video, I have watched the side control video many times Would love to see his rolling sessions, I am older and find it hard to train 3-4 days a week. I'm thinking he has great advice for 50yr olds training? How often and the approach he takes to rolling. Drilling is not an issue for me but 2-3 rolls takes me a week to recover with drugs and lots of ice Awesome video you guys are great God Bless
I think the key is to have weekly training regimen alternating hard days with “active” rest training days - drilling, flow rolling or training in water. Do not hesitate to contact me with other questions.
Awesome videos! I'm wondering what video editing software you use? I would really like to start recording the sessions of my team and providing breakdowns for them after competitions or open mats. I'm not sure how to draw on the video footage. What do you use or recommend?
That mounted armbar goes way back to catch wrestling. Before catch turned into entertainment. You can actually see Billy Robbinson and others use it in the sport. But yea, I learned it from catch wrestler. It is an unexpecting technique in Jiu-Jitsu because guys don't train to it very often -- great technique and cool video.

I'm sure these videos with Karel are gonna be reference material for years to come.
Thank you!
Hello from the future. I can confirm you were right about that
Great work. Always love the specific details on what to do.
Great content. Amazing how Firas, a master of the art continues to learn even to this day.
15:10 - 19:15 Great insight on how to break the "bicep curls lock up" against your armbar. Summary:

I have come back to this video on a regular basis over the last few months. What a great instructional.

Firas and Karel together are a recipe for a great video. Always enjoy when you guys are filming together.
Thank you! It’s akeays fun to share techniques with Firas.
Thank you Coach Firas for this welath of free information!
Thank you for letting us witness this great exchange of technique and knowledge. Lots of adjustments I can't wait to play with. Merci beaucoup!
executed this technique to open the armbar over and over during rolls..worked perfectly each time..thank you for sharing with us..
Thank you!
I am a huge fan of armbars and i knew most of the moves in the video but there were so many great details mentioned. Superb work!!
Love this! Absolute technical jems being dropped.
This has been so awesome to watch. With all this covid lockdown going on, I've been missing bjj so much. So inspired.
Going to have to spend a couple of hours with this video. A lot of great details. Thank you!!
Silver Fox, golden knowledge! thanks to both of you.
Thank you!
the best jiujitsu channel i love you guys

I literally dropped a comment in one of your videos to bring silver pravec back. thank you coach zahabi...this video is awesome
Great video. Bought Karel's book after your last video with him.
keep that CONCEPTS approach! best vid I've seen in a while
Man BJJ is so so complex. I just had my first training session today.
Enjoy the journey! Consistency is key.
I hope you're still at it!
@@objectivistathlete I'm still at it. Got my blue belt in February brother. It's so random to see a reply 2 years later but I hope you're going strong as well.
Congrats. It takes a lot of patience.
how old were you when you started? just curious
Gotta love the silver fox. He's a bad ass. Thanks man for the video.
Great video coach firaz,i met you in rio for ufc 212,thanks for your hospitality, from argentina oss!!
7:15 made me laugh. YESSS thats what we want! poor karel feeling a bit of weight but still so positive
Great attention to detail definitely going to practice fulcrum on the thigh and changing grips thank you coach
Please show the inverted triangle hitch hiker escape counter!
This video is money, beautiful arm bar details.
I believe we cover some of that in part 2 of 2
Super educational video! Karl was here at Renzo Gracie Holland showing a lot of guillotine concepts. He is a legend.
Captain Jean-Luke Picard teaching armbars! So rad!
More Karel! He's fantastic - one of the most talented instructors around
Thank you!
This is litterally a free instructional. Sick. Both of you are fucking great.

This is a gem 💎
I've met a couple guys from the silver fox bjj club, really nice folks.

Poetry man. Pure poetry. OS.

Very true. Somewhat counterintuitive.
Thanks for sharing these gems!

Thanks for this. This will surely improve my game!

Thanks, gracias por el vídeo TOP 💪🙌
Awesome, thank you!! Now lets go study it on the mat!
Great video. Saving this for later.
Bolt Cutter = Silverado. Nice details! Thanks.
This is perfect for me. Thank you.
Great details, thanks Firas and Karel!
Btw, I have the Fluid BJJ videos from Digitsu and they're highly recommendable!
Awesome. Please next time talk about the omoplata. I catch it verry often but have a problém to Finish.

Yes, true. It has a lot of leverage.
i really like Karel, so humble
LOVE YOU GUYS!!!
I love Silver Fox's teaching style. Faras too
Thank you!
Awesome video!
Tons of info, great content! GG.
Hi, love this blog and both Professors Zahabi and Karel. I'm 67, where can I get a 'Silver Fox' rashguard and gi.?
Coach Firas can you make analysis on lee vs ferguson please?
So smooth!
2:02 is this possible from knee on belly instead of from the mount?
LOVE THE SILVER FOX!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't like this video enough.
Can you do a modified Americana from the bolt cutter position?

nice stuff guys - could you start into this with far side control knee on belly
Not sure I understand your question, don’t hesitate to elaborate.
Фирас забавно рассказывает )) 'он меня душил, когда я был ещё синим поясом по бжж' 😁 Полезное видео!
look at the way he traps that far side arm when he transitions from side control to mount!!!!
This is what I'm talking about man. Heavy shit
Silver Fox... you tha‘ man!
This is Gold
Renzo is such a legend
Is it true that you can always change your position to get out locks
Congrats to Silverfox on Erin Blanchfield's win at EBI. Looking forward to seeing how well she does in MMA.
Thank you! She’s training hard and has a very supportive family behind her.
Thank you! She trains hard & has a supportive family behind her.
This aged extremely well!
How do I stop getting caught in key locks from half/side mount and get out of it?
It would be good to put a link for the book and Tim tam
timtam.tech
www.FluidBJJ.com has link for both book & videos
I like that when he goes for mount he already has that underhook, not go to mount first then fight for underhook
This old guy is a beast .Hope no one messes with him in street fight.
Master Firas can shoot a shotgun without holding it, true martial artist.
Someone let Karel know that the link to the Digitzu "Buy video series" link on fluidbjj website is just another link to amazon rather than to dijitsu
Thank you! Just made a post.

😳 mind💥👏🤘
I’m tall and lanky so armbars come easy for me. I like hooking their arm elbow to elbow and finishing in weird positions
Goooolllllddddd!!!
Awesome thank you. (Wtf camera guy. You have one job)
