Is armbar one of your favorite submissions in jiu jitsu?
Yes Bernardo !
you mean jutaijutsu
Thank you I armbarred my friend and now his arm is throughly broken! Much appreciated!
Lol
Double lol
Triple lol
Quadruple lol
Not lol
The way bernardo is so eager and excited to learn, you wouldn't even think this guy's a world champ. One of the best, for sure.
Why not?? World champs become the best by being with the best
Well, being eager to learn is what got the human species on top of the food chain in the first place. (;
His teaching method is flawless. A step by step method, that he repeats twice instead of asking “are there any questions” as you would in a group class.
10:28 - "oh God it hurts so bad."
10:30 - "we can go even further.." Bernardo: Oh god there's more?

john danahers real wizardry is making you realise you've spent 7 years training jiu jits and still don't know how to apply a basic arm bar from mount
Over 10 for me :/...I personally use a variation on some of the hand positions he shows here, but I'm excited to try this
I hear ya!
A brown belt where I used to train showed me the arm bar from mount and he showed it wrong. He told me to lean forward before bringing the leg over my opponents head, the way John shows it here is much better, I was losing my balance the way I was told before.
Seriously....
He gets the physics behind it. He speaks so clear and scientific. This what you should focus on in grappling as a beginner how to get the most leverage in yoyr moves. No matter if its standing up in the clinch doing heavy wrestling or if its on the mat. It's all about efficiency and mindgames.
I’m a simple man. I see John Danaher. I click,
Noone At all Same here. He explainse so calm and complete i have no more questions.
@@comedyandjre You mean when you are in S mount? The key is to put all the weight on him and his far arm controlled too by pulling into you. At the same time your leg (from knee to foot) has to be perpendicular to his body in order to prevent his rolling and always with foot activated (the fingers' foot pushing into him). It's hard to explain only with words but I hope this helps.
Jay Dizon Note that he keeps pulling on his opponents head in order to keep him from bridging.
Noone At all fucking hate that copy paste simple shit
Noone At all I'm also a simple man I see your comment and click thumbs down
When i see these Danaher videos i get sad that i can't train with him, but then again im happy that we are living in a time that i can see Danaher videos in youtube, imagine how you would miss all these golden nuggets if youtube never came around!

These guys work really well together. Their personalities are so different, but somehow it works.
I love how Bernardo suffers for the video - you see the hand come out to tap, and then he just suffers while John talks about the finish! I love this guy!
This is the best explanation on youtube with every little Detail. Thanks to John for giving us his secrets and thanks to Bernardo for inviting him all the Time and give it us for free!
Bum 2-0 on ufc 4
I’ve never seen anyone explain Jiu Jitsu so thoroughly and seamlessly!
Here’s what separates Danaher from the rest:
Rather than teach a few generalities about a large number of moves (which is what most of our BJJ instructors do,) he teaches a massive number of specifics about a small set of moves
Good job buddy you have functioning hearing
I'm pretty sure I just got a stripe watching this
😆
I started watching danaher videos and two week later got my first stripe, lok

What an absolute treat. I'm a piano key-white belt and this instruction was superb as it relates to position and motion specifically. Thank you!
The knowledge that this man possesses is one thing, the ability to communicate this extensive knowledge in manner that is unmistakable understandable is unmatched.
Just amazing detail. John Danaher is the best BJJ teacher that I have ever seen. Bernardo Faria is an amazing BJJ practitioner with a great attitude. I hope these two do lots of video series and seminars.
Bernardo seems to really enjoy this. He’s smiling a lot every time John sets the arm bar.
It took awhile for me to click on this video. I was like “ A 16 minute video on an armbar?!” I’m glad I finally watched it and I’ll be watching it over and over... love all the small details!!!
This is the most fascinating thing I've ever seen.
This guy is a BJJ genius! I am always amazed when I watch his videos. He should definitely write a BJJ book.
It's a huge honour to watch these two.
Man I wish I could follow course directly by this man. His technicity, understanding of the techniques and how he explains... This is the shit.
I'm not a fighter but this is still really interesting from a technical perspective. Zero dislikes and I can see why. Subscribed

Love the first guys enthusiasm literally had me giggling to myself xD
George Barclay Bernardo Faria is the golden retriever of bjj.
Wow. He has taken an art and made it a science. Skills!
What an incredible explanation on the mechanics of each motion within the technique itself. This tutorial isn’t how to execute an armbar it’s how to execute THE perfect armbar.
So many brilliant little details here. The ratchet detail (walking opponent’s arm up), ear to head before the armbar, and the hitchhiker prevention are all amazingly helpful tips
How great is this breakdown? I think few masters can explain their skills so well to the layman. And Bernardo is a beast whose enthusiasm is like that of a white belt who finally subs a high level blue belt. It's a thing of beauty.
John is the master of processing knowledge and teaching, and you Bernardo, my friend, are ju jitsu's coolest guy. I would love to study in your class and just hang around with nice people😊
So much depth here! No wonder i never get the armbar in rolling

Everything he says is so detailed, precised and accurate and incisive. That's a professor for you folks !
Bernardo respects john so much, he got his haircut before this video.....these two guys are an awesome representation of the jiu jitsu community
Total technician. Danaher is the man.
Kudos to the training partner for hanging around so long. Good sport!
I think after all of these videos Bernardo should be an honorary member of DDS!

Truly tremendous. Really don't understand how people say they get bored listening to John Danaher. So many details.
This guy is on another level. Really. Just watching a few videos puts you light years ahead in any random dumb fight you may encounter :o
I started jiu jitsu 2 months ago and this worked on a blue belt thank you
As soon as I heard his voice I scrolled down to see the comments. They did not disappoint
This is the best explanation
White belt here. I'm gonna go rewatch the "escape the mount" vid & come back to this when I earn my blue belt. This dude is so technical!

Thank you Bernardo... you and Sir John opened so many new things to me in this sport
what an articulate gifted teacher!
One of the best quality videos with great content I've come across on yt. Thanks
I’m suddenly really motivated to get my ccw knowing humans have this type of knowledge
Yo can we just give a big shout out to all the people that volunteer to be dummies in these type of videos! Your sacrifice is GREATLY appreciated!!!
Thank you Bernardo and John... This is the science I was looking for.
This channel is quickly becoming one of my favorite grappling channels!
Awesome! The precision armbar. Learned a lot here, thanks Bernardo for the demo with John.
This is the best explanation of an arm bar from mount that I have ever heard. Danaher is the goat 🐐 bjj coach.
I train with lots of Brazilians and they hate danaher and Gordon. They always ask how did you do “such and such a technique” and I’m like nah you wouldn’t wanna know that’s all from danahers instructionals. Love or hate the guy the instruction is A+
As a brown belt I can normally teach arm bar from mount in about a minute. 3 minutes into this Danaher is still sitting in normal mount. The level of detail is insane.
Hit this for the first time two days ago. Been training for less than two months and I felt super proud to get a proper studied submission
This is incredible. My hips are too tight to do the top leg swing, I end up standing up. This makes so much more sense. Thank you!
Fell asleep to listen John Danaher
His voice is very soothing while he's detailing steps to break another man's arm.
He is Gun brake a urme
Love every small details that he explains. So important to know those little tricks.
Your delivery is so clear! Thank you!! Great video!
fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” - Bruce Lee
That's what John Danaher is talking about at the end...
(I understand most people know but I'm dropping this for the few that don't)
PS: Thanks Coach, I learnt something new.. again!
Attention to detail is one of the most important things a master does. My knowledge in grappling is very basic but I feel as if I'm watching a real master. I can only imagine the time it must've taken to discover all of this and how much trial and error. It was paid for in time (which is the most valuable thing we can spend), passion, and probably some pain. I just got this for free and without a rite of passage. I cannot help but to feel very grateful and will treat this knowledge with the utmost respect. The ones who take it for granted have never bled for their passion.
Wow 5:48 explains exactly how these professionals manipulate the smallest advantages of the body’s kinetics to their advantage. It’s truly a beautiful dance, BJJ.
*Bernardo taps*
John: we can go even further than this
Before i went to my BJJ training today, i watched this video. On my training practice i beated a guy in a 2 minute round who was bigger than me (and also stronger :D) with this technique. I felt fantastic
this is absolutley genious and amazing, ive been struggling with locking the arm bar for months !!! thank you so much new sub !!
Go ABs! Muito Brigado guys 💪
amazing technique, amazing teaching, that's is great teacher !!!
We love this stuff the best details I’ve ever seen, awesome john thanks guys!!
Pure poetry to watch
Omg the level of detail it’s just amazing! I love you John! FYI he has a PhD.
What an amazingly comprehensive breakdown !
Came to check up on his hair from when he was ultimate fighter. Not disappointed. Looking good. Real good Mr danahers.
Lightbulb moment....thanks John and Bernardo
John's ability to breakdown even the tiniest aspects from setup to completion covering every possible scenario is second to absolutely none. He is in mine and many many others opinion the best BJJ instructor alive today. Freakin BJJ rocket scientist!!!! Just watchout and try not to let his monotone voice render you unconscious!!!! LMAO As deadly as any choke in his vast arsenal!!!
For no-gi BJJ (submission wrestling) yes. BJJ with gi (the 'real' BJJ) is quite different, two different sports

Never seen Danaher smiling so much in one video. Faria is a special kind of black belt
What the fuckkkkk was this!!! I also learnt details of how to escape if caught in a crappy armbar. lol Danaher Sir you're amazing, how very well taught.
Bernardo's channel is a precious resource, thank you
Wow wow wow.. so many little details which make such a difference
Mr. Danaher is a master 🙏
I clicked this video thinking I already knew what he was going to say but then I learned I've been doing everything wrong my entire time training.
On 5:12 I would go for arm triangle, safer and easier.
Anyway it was a great tip to reach there, thanks again John and Bernardo
That is exactly what I was thinking. The main reason I keep rewatching this video is because the arm ratchet thing looks like the perfect way to setup an arm triangle, which I am much better at than arm bars :) I just hope that it doesn't make it easy for your opponent to roll you though, since you won't be able to post with the arm that is under their head. I think as long as they don't trap your foot on that side you could post your leg out though.
Thaaaaank you for the tactic on breaking the grips before applying the bar. I’m going to test for blue in december, and these details are going to help me turn my white belt arm bar into better one!
I think Danaher is the BEST at explaining how techniques work. Amazing detailed video. Cant wait to work these new details into training.
Thank You Bernardo and John! Wonderful details! I am a skinny and not very strong. i am always scared to apply arm-bars when rolling NoGi because i often lose the position. Your efforts are very much appreciated.
There's no space between them when Danaher demonstrates these moves. It's amazing, atoms are getting forced out of those spaces!
