Love this video! I put this in the background while I help my ten year old work on his basic submissions. It’s been an incredible journey to do together. For me I’ve returned to bjj after being away ten years and my son is now six months in and it’s been a great bonding experience and your videos have helped me teach him things I have forgotten over the years! Easily my favorite bjj page
I’m about 30 lessons in and your videos are so helpful.. thank you for putting them together and sharing! I just wish I could pause mid-roll and pull out my phone to watch sometimes!!! It feels a bit like the phrase “everyone has a plan until they get hit in the face”.. in BJJ beginner mode “everyone has a plan until your face is squished in an armpit”!! :)
I’m six years in and come back to this often. All the subs you ever need! Great video. I also think that each one of these has huge variations. Great content.
Your content is really helpful to me!!! I love that you give the different options as you go instead of making us search for the submission for each situation in different videos. Thanks Jedi!!!!
This video was awesome, thank you! I'm a white belt and have a couple submissions I go to, but my main focus has been defense, escapes and guard retention. I'm making good progress with it but I feel I don't see enough submissions attempts for myself, understandably so as I get smashed all day. I want to at the very least to start seeing the opportunity's while rolling.
Im a white belt and i left my gym and then covid hit so its been over a year and i wanted to get back in and my confidence was low i felt like i forgot everything i learned other than defense but after watching this and remembering most of them gave me quite a bit of confidence back im definitely gonna start practicing these so when i can get back into it i can do more than survive 😂😂
I like how you threw in the straight ankle, when I started bjj I came in at weird time at the gym and one of my first subs I learned was an ankle lock from a bottom entry and really expanded my game from the jump and gave me something most other white belts didn’t have in my area, 2.5 years later and it’s still a huge part of my game

Hi there! This video helped me a lot and showed me all of the variations of submissions that you can do or the ones that you might want to look out for. This tutorial was very straight foward and it was very clear what you had to do. I do have one tip for if you read this: If you want to make a video for beginners, you should make a version where the submission or any bjj attack or defense would be in slow speed so that it looks a bit more clear what you have to hold or what you have to move in order to pull the move off so that no one gets any confusion.(Because it happened to me 💀) I hope you read this, good luck, and keep up the good work!

as a wrestler that never learned submissions and how to deal with people exposing their back, this is really helpful. I have been thinking about getting into BJJ now that I am getting back in shape. I would say from my wrestling experience the rear naked choke and the arm triangle seem like the most applicable for me as a beginner at submissions, but with grappling experience the ones using limbs seem like they really require much practice and repetition and understanding the feel. aka lots of actual hands on experience for them to actually work as intended i would always find myself sparring with people at gyms when asked to go and i would always end up on top from the feet within a minute and then just hold guard on them cuz i didnt know what to do to finish lol

As a BJJ newbie I've had good success with the Paper Cutter choke and the Americana. Some one in the comments mentioned that the BJJ community is so nice, which broadly I agree with. I think it has to do with the humbling that happens. BJJ is a legit fighting discipline where someone way smaller & weaker can dominate a larger/stronger albeit lower skilled fighter - that, I have found, can pacify agro dudes. However, like anywhere in life, there will always be jerks who have something to prove and are looking to hurt people. A good academy will weed those types of people out, and will foster a culture of care and respect.

the triangle is a perfect beginner to intermediate transitioning skill to learn. The darce as I have used it soo many times is one of my favorite arsenals idk y but my body comfortably moves into the position as I have a healthy s shaped spine so tight positioning comes natural.

Thanks to this video I have regained the memory on how to do these because I have forgotten from lock down
just got my black belt about a year ago and saw this vid i agree these are the essentials and fun to learn
I also just finished my first bjj training today. It’s like you can manipulate with the oponent, but then don’t know what to do next to finish. Thanks!
Really good video. Very intresting for any newcomers. I train combat Jujitsu, along with combat Sambo and various other styles. To get a real MMA feel, but for the street. We do everything in this video. The only one we do slightly diferant is the cross choke at the end. But if it works for you, then great. Well done on the video.
Great work man ! I personaly love the ezzechiel choke ! Keep it up
I love how you break it down ! Thank you
Awesome video. I can’t wait till I’m able to start training BJJ. I’m just waiting on the OK from my Drs. to clear me for training.
Sounds good brotha!
the triangle is a perfect beginner to intermediate transitioning skill to learn. The darce as I have used it soo many times is one of my favorite arsenals idk y but my body comfortably moves into the position as I have a healthy s shaped spine so tight positioning comes natural.
This video has restored my interest in Jiujitsu again
Whoa! What was that crazy move at the beginning? 0:05
I would watch this video 100 times in a row. Just incredible.
It’s my hair isn’t it lol
