    "Bernardo Faria is a 5x World Champion. Bernardo started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Juiz de Fora - MG, Brazil at the age of 14 in 2001. After receiving the Black Belt from his first instructor Ricardo Marques in 2008, He moved to Sao Paulo to join BJJ legend Fabio Gurgel and his Alliance team.     I’ve always struggled with Danaher’s videos, probably due to a short attention span. This however, was my favourite by far and I learned a tonne. Instantly improved my mount.

      All of his videos are a struggle to get through but their packed with so much info/details I force myself to watch a small bit of it everytime. Gordon's is much more concise but Danaher's has more general concepts.

    Honest advice to anyone who can’t hear John Danaher: at the start of any of his videos, just turn on closed captioning. Don’t bother complaining about the mics, just turn on CC and you won’t miss much. It’s pretty accurate. Oss

    I like how Danaher clearly explains the original aim of Jiu-Jitsu: self defense and fighting. In that case you want position then submission.
    Take strikes out, then position is not always before submission.

      Instead of position, he specifically states its control before submission for sub grappling. His 6 submission systems all teach the 6 major control points that lead to the 6 most succesful submissions.

      @@4m4z1n-grace8 look at Danaher's enter the system. Heel Hook, RNC, guillotine & arm triangle variations, kimura, triangle, armbar. These 6 have strong control positions before going for the sub. Much easier to sub when you can control the opponent's movement.

    0:48 John Danaher's philosophy for submission grappling in short! "In bottom position you attack the lower body first (everything else second). And top position - you focus on passing first and upper body submissions first and lower body second."

    I have to say this technique is legit I was rolling today, my partner actually tapped with just this maneuver I didn’t even have to follow up with any other submission. I was going to set up an arm triangle but once I started putting pressure got the tap without it.

      Same! I'm a white belt no stripe, watched this video 30 mins before practice and then tapped out a training partner with this during sparring! Also used it to set up an armbar with another training partner. John and Bernardo really dropped a knowledge bomb with this video.

    I love the systemic approach. Starting with an Americana attack makes sense for me, then go for the shoulder pressure, hand crawling...this is basic but very important BJJ concept

    Literally yesterday had this problem was training no gi and I always got the mount position but no luck submitting them and I was thinking what is the tactics and this video is a live saver. Waiting for next week to finish somebody doing this.

    How are these instructionals 1K but you can not get ANY advice on audio quality? Please I love the videos, but please just fix the audio. It has been an issue that has not been addressed since day 1. Hell, the first leg lock dvd had to be re-released due to audio issues and even the second release was terrible.

    Just a question: at 10:20 your left arm wraps over the top of their head and around his neck, would it be viable at that point for the person to try to bridge and roll upa you to that side? If so any tips on weight distribution etc to stop that? Cheers
