    People clown John Danaher in the comments but I learned more from his RUclips videos and instructional than I did from my first instructor (who I was training with for 3 years). My first instructor held back knowledge. A lot of politics. John gives away intricacies and details for free and people still complain. Head scratcher.

      BJJ is for self defense and MMA. You should just learn BJJ. It's not like there's a special set of moves. Just if you have guard on the other guy, lock him down and try not to get hit while you work your game.

    • @redditate4587
      @redditate4587 4 года назад

      @@marcuspiscaer4120 no shit dumbass. You're gonna get hit from positions you can get hit from. It's literally the same thing, but with striking mixed in. I don't think there's a video version of that. You want to learn how to neutralize a person's arms as they're striking you while in your guard? Learn how to break their posture, trap an arm, and throw your legs over for an armbar. You want a list of moves you shouldn't use while getting hit in the face?

    With respect, there is always someone that knows more than another. My knowledge source is medical; including being ring side provider. May I fine tune what was said in the first 3 minutes? Good point:: it is better to use the term strangulation (vs. "choke)." But important to note what causes unconsciousness; its not as simple as only pressure directly slowing blood flow to the brain (therefor causing LOC changes or black out) -as much as the goal is to stimulate decreasing heart rate. How? This is done by applying direct pressure to baroreceptors. Passing out has more to do with autonomic nervous system slowing heart rate as a protective mechanism. The brain likes to protect itself. It tells the nervous system to change the rate of blood flow by speeding up or slowing down pulse rate. There are very few places in the body where pressure is sensed: aortic arch & carotid arteries are two of the few places. Baroreceptors sense pressure. If pressure is applied to the carotid's baroreceptors, the brain thinks overall systemic pressure is too high; therefore to protect itself from possible or perceived risk of stroke, it sends signal to the heart to slow down. This is what causes passing out. It takes a few seconds for this to happen. Pressure to both carotids' baroreceptors is necessary; thereby "tricking" the body to decrease cardiac output. Although direct pressure decreases blood flow to vessels, this feedback mechanism also plays a role. Its similar to how/why a kick to the liver makes someone "gray out" or take a knee. Its a autonomic nervous system response -hydrostatic shock. Fluid shift enough & baroreceptor stimulation automatically/autonomically create SLEEPY TIME.
