because it began with herbert diess, the vw ceo before. he was a totaly tesla fanboy and want to go the same way: cheap interieur quality to save the cost with a good infotainment infrastructur. unfortunitaly, vw has not the same spirit and genius to make that happend like tesla...
Tiguan Allspace competes with Kodiaq in Europe, Tiguan competes with Karoq. Is there a new Tiguan Allspace yet or will they continue with the older model?
I know this would never happen, but if VW just brought this to the U.S. market rather than a Tiguan it would be a serious hit. Plenty of space, decent quality, lots of tech, and a number of thoughtful features. I'd buy one if I could!
VW is bringing a new Tiguan Allspace similar to Kodiaq soon. It will be called Tayron in other markets but in the USA that version will be the new Tiguan. But the interior will be same as newly launched Tiguan with no physical dials.
@@tacodias No, VW was "luxury" brand out of VW, Seat, Skoda. Now VW is cheap interior and rolling back features that were present in previous generations. Golf 8 compared to Golf 7 and 6 looks awful and VW should be ashamed of charging 30% more for it
All the exterior and the interior look great! Everything looks well-made and useful. As Czech I am proud that Škoda came with such a great car! I'm really looking forward to see the new Superb!
You don’t want too many, you’re there to drive not be in a disco! Mercedes go too far I think, this would be a nice amount. Those OLED displays in the dials and two screens would make some nice light inside too. I really like it also!

Just have to love Skoda. We moved from land rover to skoda for my wifes car and couldnt believe the build quality difference (skoda being better) so struck where we that we decided to stick with skoda when time came to replace, opting for the Enyaq and what a car, so much better than VW!! When my turn comes, i certainly will be interested in this, looks like another fab car!
I really like the thought that went in to it making sure the driver has great features that helps focus to be on the road, when others like BMW/MINI are being Tesla with stupid touch screens only making their cars less safe and more prone to crash. A very useable family car!!
What a nice car. VW should put the person in charge of interior design in charge of the design for all their brands, as only Skoda seems to be able to create usable interiors that don't drive you crazy.
You can actually edit how much functions the middle dial will have by simply holding and choosing on the display from selection. Super move from Skoda!
Interior looks very nice. Exterior is OK; perhaps a bit generic but It might grow on me when I see it in the metal. Seems that Skoda make nicer cars than VW these days.
Do you believe that the revised instruments and controls layout will become standard across both the Superb and Octavia ranges? Clearly the previous software issues that you have identified, in particular with the Octavia VRS , have to be addressed such that the new control set up actually adds value in terms of driver benefit. An excellent first review and thank you.
Skoda will be overrule vw in the future if they go forward like that ... even better like the tiguan ... waiting for the karoq ... at least no glossy black in the cockpit with more shiny than elegance
Not too familiar with Skoda (as it doesn't exist in the US), but the team knocked it out of the park. Absolutely well done! The people over at the VW name brand need to take some notes!
Thinking about upgrading our Kodaiq we've had since 2017. Love the massive boot for camping trips. Love that I could use the new plug in hybrid to get free travel for work using home solar panels and battery storage. Hate it that this version doesn't have 4WD.... so I'll be getting the new Santa Fe.
The exterior looks reasonably better than the disgraced Tiguan but the biggest difference is the interior. It looks beautiful and sophisticated unlike the Tiguan’s which looks like it has been taken from some delivery van.
Skoda Kodiaq is definitely one of the premium cars in the market and the features are all amazing. Just that the climate unit at the rear seat could be enabled with physical dials instead of touch screen controls. There's every possibility that rear seat passenger's foot may hit the rear climate touch screen console. Also, the driver will have limited visibility on how the touch screen, behind is handled.
Thank god for Thomas in 4k and full length. I was looking forward to the official show but it was such a time waste without any real showing of the car tbh. Well Thomas to the rescue.
Reports state that India will exclusively receive the seven-seat layout, with features such as ambient lighting, climate control, wireless charging, and ample storage space.
Thomas, could you in future also (in the boot) measure the distance under the load cover? This way it's easier to calculate for every car what the useful volume is under the cover.
skoda pays so much attention to details and QOL things. It's probably most valuable brand for amount of money you pay across all their models, who offers such practicality.. definitely not anyone else from VW group

Do you know total height or ground clearance of the new Kodiaq? Starts to look like an oversized caravan. Interior design is amazing, way better than the old one, but I am not sure about exterior. I don't like this "urbanisation" to say, I like it to be a bit more adventurous.
Let me sadly inform you that Seat the brand is closing its production of cars and will only be making things like ebikes or something else that the corporation decides. Note that another Spanish brand, Cupra, has basically superseded Seat so this is not a complete elimination of Spanish brands from the car industry.

They should but they still feel the pain from the last experience. Note that Škoda became the most successful mass market car of the Soviet bloc to be sold to the West, mainly the UK, en masse, but that model also managed to inspire all the British car jokes! ruclips.net/video/nC0lHFtbc9g/видео.html Without too many jokes, the failure of a Škoda excursion to the US market over 50 years ago was an even more uninspiring failure. They were trying to sell the "ancient" Felicias or something when communism's impact on the technological and marketing inferiority was the deepest. The first capitalist model Felicia (recycled name) was just a somewhat rounded Favorit and they gradually made the cars more similar to the VW models. Nice car...again. I wasn't aware that the beautiful previous model was already to be replaced, still love it. Brown paint with terracotta interior is a no go. Distasteful and not matching at all. I'd choose a different paint color. And yes.....boys and girls of all car manufacturering design departments: THIS is how you make modern climate control toggles with haptic feedback combined with integrated function toggles. Nice! Diesel will be the technically best choice of engine.

That has always been the case. Change my mind.
It's been that way for a long time. I own a mk2 Superb and it feels more premium than a Passat of that era
Personally I liked the design of the Passat B8 and B8.5 more.
Idk i drove both a 2017 golf and a 2017 octavia and i went with the octavia. It’s been amazing so far

But it’s not a 10litre truck. USA people want a huge engine and inefficient cars. They usually send over a less efficient version.

I disagree, the ergonomics of current-model Kodiaq is awful in many places. Armrest area is the worst - they should have just taken Audi's design.
I have Kodiaq RS 2023 - and I think it is a good progress. I look forward for the first look and drive
