Great video. Really enjoyed your use of nat sound. It’s what I seek in that wild place. I suppose we all do. I’ve been on two winter trips there and I recall eating, chopping wood and walking taking up most of my time.

Thank you. Yeah I think I prefer just the natural sounds in the environment rather than adding the background music. I bring my kindle so I also spend a lot of time reading while I’m out on these trips.

I’m glad you enjoyed it. Yes the trip out was very exhausting, I was pretty much spent by the time I made to my truck. I always enjoy meeting new folks while I’m out there so be sure to come on over and say hello.

Great video! Very enjoyable. You didn't mention how long you were out there. 20 minutes doesn't quite do it justice my man. It was really cool bumping into you out there. Great banter. I hope I see you again!!

Hey Matt, thanks. Yeah when you stay put in the same spot you kinda run out of new and interesting things to film. I really wanted to include more fishing but the weather really didn’t allow it. It was great meeting and chatting with you, hopefully we’ll run into each other again out there.

    Thanks for the great video.
I stayed in that campsite in late October one time in a severe sleet storm where we almost sunk our canoe in the bay around the corner and have been out there many times in the winter. It is well sheltered compared to many other places on the lake. I love it dearly because I thought I was going to drown right before we made the turn. When we pulled in an old man gave us a half dozen eggs which were truly amazing after eating dehydrated food for a week.
This video brings back a lot of great memories. Your wood collecting skills are impressive! I hit Seagulll late this winter and the weather was amazing it is always nice to not need snowshoes. Keep on rocking your videos inspire me.

Thank you very much, I’m glad you enjoyed it. That is a nice campsite in a great location. I also stayed there on my winter camping trip last year. Sounds like you have some great memories.

I am looking forward to my next winter trip into the BWCA in a few weeks. I was looking for videos to get my teenage kids excited about it and was shocked to find this video with the identical route we plan to do. I've been to these lakes and up to the trout lake you visited, but haven't fished it. What lures or bait did you use to land the brookies? They are a new species for me to target. Love your video quality and the lack of commenting to the camera. It makes you feel like you're there.

    • @nemadjihermit

@@greymagnus Thanks for the comment and I’m glad you can appreciate my style of video. I’m an introvert and don’t like talking much so it seems to suit me. These brookies have a voracious appetite in the winter and are fairly easy to catch on the right day. Just put on a jig or small spoon and add a dead minnow and you should be able to get your limit in no time. Good luck, it’s a beautiful area.

@@nemadjihermit An introvert recognizes and appreciates an introvert. Thanks for the tip on minnows. I've fished for everything else in the BW, but not yet brookies, so I appreciate the advice. When I was there this past spring, the prime campsite on that lake was taken and we didn't want to stay at the other site on the lake, so we hauled all our stuff back down the portage and stayed at the lake below. It was a major bummer.

@@greymagnus The last campsite on Clearwater is ideal, but I also like the first campsite on West Pike if you want to go through the portage.

@@nemadjihermit I know the one on West Pike. I stayed at that one canoe camping in the spring of '23. We day tripped through Clearwater to Mountain and saw the site on Clearwater. It's been in my mind ever since. Looking forward to getting back there in a couple weeks.

That’s awesome! And thank you very much for the great comment. I’m not far from Wisconsin here in northeastern Minnesota south of Duluth. The tent is a Eureka solo backpacker, unfortunately they don’t make this particular model anymore.
