- Are you trying to jailbreak? Maybe un-jailbreak? Or perhaps you are trying to reset your iPhone PIN without wiping the phone? Chances are you'll have to enter DFU (Device Firmware Upgrade) or Recovery Mode. There are tons of tutorials on the net, but not very many of them actually work. This video will help you greatly to get your device in and out of DFU mode. Yes, it is possible!

Just want to say a massive thanks for explaining the difference between recovery mode and DFU mode. My fiancee's iPhone 4 failed whilst updating to iOS 6.1.3 which I think was either due to a corrupt update or lack of free space.
I tried numerous things on forums etc who just stated open iTunes and click on restore - which always came up with an error about unable to contact Apple update server.
I managed to get into DFU mode with your help and do a SHIFT+Restore using an .ipsw file. Big Thanks

omg i watched over 30 vids on how to get out of recovery mode it and your first 2 methods didnt work cuz it kept me in recovery mode but the 3rd method in the description did the job for me, i loveee youuuuuuu :D

See the problem with my phone is that i never connected this new phone to my computer because i had to update my itunes. I never did until now because i had to. So in order to turn my phone back on, do i have to restore? I would if i don't lose my pics.

my phone is having the sign to connect it to itunes, i tried all of what you said in the video, but still the sign to connect to i tunes is still displayed, all the time, i tunes does not recognize the iphone, but i hear a tone that it's connected to the pc when i connect it to cable, any idea how to restore it?

How do you accidentally enter DFU mode?
It's been 7 years and I don't remember the process of either recovery mode or DFU but I would assume I probably entered the wrong mode trying to jailbreak my iPod Touch 4th Gen
@@LunarMusician lmao 7 years later, to enter DFU mode on the touch 4th gen you hold the power + home button for 10 sec and then home button for 8 sec so kinda hard to accidentally enter DFU mode
@@moneymoney122 Once again, this is speculation as to what I probably did to get myself in that mess. Unless I'm mistaken, one of the processes in jailbreaking that generation of iPods was to enter recovery mode. Memory says the process was similar. If not, I probably just did something stupid to get myself in that mess but it fits the time frame

you might have fixed it by now, but ill try to help. Download redsn0w, hit extras when it starts, and there should be an option to fix recovery loop or something like that.

Do you have any advice to get out of a reboot loop?
My Iphone 5 running IOS 8 keeps rebooting until I see the apple logo, then it turns back off... again and again...

here please I need your help!! I have my iPhone 5S in recovery mode (or DFU) no idea. I was trying to update it and the progess bar FROZE and stayed there for ever so I hard reset the phone and I left it in Recovery mode. The thing is that I tried both your methods but when I release the Power botter - once the apple appear - the phone dosent reboot, the screens get black after 3 seconds. And that's it. O press the power botton again and I can see the apple but the screen turns back again to black after 3 seconds.and if I plug it to the computer does the same thing and now the iTunes doesn't even recognize it! PLEASE HELP!!!

When I hold down the home and power button on the ipod
The apple logo shows when I release the power button and keep holding don the home button. It goes back to the image of USB with the arrow.

Natalie Lydia It's bricked, you're going to have to get it repaired, the OS is corrupted, only way to fix that is to manually reconfigure the iPod. There are some services that MIGHT help you, so go ahead and google, how to fix a bricked iPod/iPhone/iPad.
My ipod touch 4g is stuck in recovery mode and itunes won't let me recover (3014 error). Can't get out of this, have tried everything I can find online without success :(
Figured it out. Had to go into task manager to close parts of my security software that didn't shut down, even when the program is exited. It's updating now.

Plug ur iDevice into iTunes and then hold down the home and power buttons until it doesnt display the device and then boot it up as usual(hold power button). worked for me!

I was following the directions that started at about 4:30 and all was going according to the video but when the apple logo popped up to start rebooting, it only stayed up for a couple of seconds and then went back to the connect to itunes screen. itunes is also not detecting my phone
My phone (iphone 4) was interrupted mid-update and that is stopping from turning on my phone. I've tried to get my photos off my phone but I'm struggling to because my lock screen button is broken and when it's plugged into my computer it just remains on the connect to itunes screen. It's either that or it goes into the loop of turning off and on. Can you help me out?

Never restart an iPhone while it is retrieving an update. That is my lesson...
Here's my problem: My phone was originally having a hard time functioning due to having too much storage. It started to freeze and then went into the "boot loop". I got it to start back up again after awhile of fiddling with the buttons, but then it froze again. Now every time I try to restart it (using the volume up button technique), it automatically goes into recovery mode. How can I get my phone back up and working without having to restore it to factory settings?
Also another thing to mention is that my phone doesn't have a proper backup.
my ipod went down a few months ago and the screen went blue and ever since that when i try plugging it in to charger the apple sign come up then after about 5 minutes it starts to load then the screen changes colour to white or some other pattern. whats the issue there?

Great vid, but i have a question about DFU mode. I'm using iphone4 hactivate tool and when i put the iphone in DFU mode.. the hactivate programs tells me that it's unsupported and can't continue with the activation. Any help is apreciated.

Im trying to fix my ipad and my only difference is Im not able to get it to log on to anything other than the itunes and apple logo.
Therefore, Im not certain whether its in DFU or recovery mode. All this started when I tried to do an update last year some time, and it just locked up. I just laid the ipad aside and purchased a mini. Now, I'd like to get this one working again if it's possible.

I wasn't and didn't jail break my iPhone. It sent me a notification about an update and I clicked update. After I clicked it went to connect to iTunes. So I plugged up my phone and iTunes hasn't read my phone. It doesn't give me the option to go to the page where you sync your phone and stuff. After doing what you did for the dfu mode it still went back to the connect to iTunes screen.
Since iOS 8, my iPad2 seems to go into the reboot loop at least once a week. The reboot fixes that I can find don't work. The only thing that seems to work is putting it into recovery mode & bringing it back out or sometimes actually restoring. Any ideas on how to prevent this or what is causing it? BTW, my iPad isn't jailbroken & I really don't have a desire to fool with jailbreaking it, but I might consider it, if it would help.

Hello! Im having problem with my iPhone 5s.. did a reset to factory, but it wont complete the activation process... The iOS when it recovered was ios7 or something, and after recovering, it updated itself to the latest which is 8.1, but during activation when at 60% error pops up at itunes stating an error(1).
