When buying iPods, beware of listings where the seller goes out of the way to mention the DAC because it's become an easy way for them to unreasonably mark up prices. I finally got an iPod after watching a Dankpods video. I did the same internal mods that you did, but didn't replace the shell. That thing was a tank, and if it weren't for a bad cable ruining the 32 pin connector, it would still be my daily music device. Since then, I've modded Minis, 4th and 6th gen classics.

This was such a cool device. I remember I had in 2007 the iPod Classic 5th generation and I listened for hours my favorite songs. Now we have Apple Music and Spotify but in that time we had to sync with iTunes and do some workarounds to play our favorite music. Thanks for this nostalgic video.
I rock a iPod 5.5 I modded as well. What I do recommend for anyone wanting to try this is to try to find the 80GB versions of this model because it does have more RAM than the 30GB, it is also the "thicker" version that Denki ended up making which the shell replacement.
@@richeyrich2203 Yes they do but, but there is some major differences, conditions, and "drawbacks". The first is that 6th and 7th gen doesn't use the Wolfson DAC which regarded as the "Best Sounding". And second is that there is some weird "updates" and conditions with them, they use a different OS and UI that is "updated" to have some of the iPod touch and iPhones like showing a clock when the screen is dimming, you get Cover flow which is meh and laggy on the iPod and overall is a little more cumbersome. Also the 6th Gen had a weird storage limit of 128GB even when you Flash upgrade, when the 7th doesn't. They are also harder to open and easier to damage then the 5.5 gens due to the aluminum covers but possible. So my recommendation is if you only want a music player and want the best quality get a 5.5 Gen 80gb upgrade to 256 with flash and you're good. But you want an ultimate iPod with a ton up to a TB of storage for both your music and movie libraries, and also willing to deal with the metal case to mod, then get a 160GB slim 7th Gen.
How important do you think the ram is? I was able to get a cheap iPod classic 5g with 30 gb it was only like 30 dollars, it pretty beat up and broken but ngl I love the way it looks is so dope as is I want to just add the mods but I wonder if it’s worth modding with a lower ram
I love my iPod Classics! I have a 1st, 3rd, 4th monochrome, 4th color, 5.5th, and 7th gen. I put a large battery and 512GB flash storage in the 5.5th gen using an iFlash Quad.
I ditched spotify and went back to using an iPod, I couldn't be happier! Although I went with a 6th gen; because it supports my audible library. I currently have about 3500 songs, 40 audio books, a bunch of radio drama, and I haven't even filled half of my 128gb SD card. I modified a 4000 mAh smartphone battery to work with the iPod and it gets about 250 hours of playback between charges.
I also had/have a 5.5, the main issue with using one of these in 2023 is that there is kind of a limit on how many songs you can have on it. Even if you beef up the storage you cant do anything about the RAM, when you have too many songs the low RAM causes it to crash and skip all the time. If you dont have many songs or dont need them all on the iPod all the time then they do still sound great.
The 30GB version of the 5.5 still can take 20000 songs. I don’t know about you but to me that is still „many songs“. Sure there is a limit but it’s quite high and while worth considering it’s quite a high limit. 20k songs is not anything most people just own.
@@Denkionly thing missing is the 1grit Also I noticed that the ipod shells you used in the video is almost the same as the bee pod that he made 3 years ago. The only difference is the clickwheel color
I’m thinking about getting another iPod as I want a dedicated device for my music and podcasts. I like having my phone, but it gets to be overwhelming. I miss the early 2000s where each device was separated.
Actually the old Rockbox version 3.15 you used in combination with the iFlash could be the root cause of the freezing issues and crashes you encountered. I´d always recommend to use the daily builds. There has been so much going on since 2019, also improving the compatibility with iFlash. It´s still not perfect, as rockbox simply expects a native IDE hard drive, since this is what the driver was written for. However, there is one kind of flash storage that will work flawlessly and that is a compact flash card. It´s a native IDE device and while it doesn´t offer extreme sequential speeds like modern SSD´s, it´s still a heck of a lot faster and more responsive than any HDD and is also able to outperform many modern SD cards. So if you ever want to revisit your iPod, from time to time a photographer tosses out a bunch of old compact flash cards for cheap. You may grab a 128gb one for example.
I'll have to look at updating mine, then. The workaround is to manage files while booted into the stock firmware, and switch to Rockbox when finished. This doesn't solve the occasional freezes and crashes though. But they're infrequent enough for me that they usually aren't more than a minor nuisance.
I've been waiting for this video. Also I just bought an iPod Classic 5th gen today. They are pretty expensive in Germany but in Japan you can actually get them for quite cheap.
Heck yeah! I pulled my old 7th gen Space Grey 160gb out and charged it up… then went on ali express for a 256gb SATA ssd refurb kit. Aside from flash, I’ll be keeping it stock - here’s to giving this thing another decade of life!
@@sweetytobleron656 I’ve read several anecdotes about it being difficult to use disks in excess of 256gb or so due to constraints on the music database - but with drives under 1TB all being basically the same price, it’s worth experimenting!

I still use my iPod! Nothing like owning your music library and have complete control over your listening habits. Spotify, even with a subscription, is super invasive in regards of whet the app WANTS you to listen.
I have TWO iPod Classics collecting dust in my closet. One of them has a problem with the track wheel, but the other one works perfectly. I've never really thought about refurbing them, but maybe I should.
The 5th gens are super easy to open, but you do have to be careful. I was able to restore two 5th gen iPods. Plenty of RUclips tutorials will show you how.
If I recall, Apple discontinued these iPods because they couldn't source the hard drives. I think they were letting it die to push streaming. Great video!!
Yes, but also Apple wanted people to buy iPhones. Killing off the iPod forced people to either get an iPhone or look for something else. If you're heavily invested in iTunes music, you basically had no choice but to get an iPhone. As another benefit to Apple, they could get people to subscribe to Apple Music (I think it was Beats at the time).
@@matthewjbauer1990 I mean, smartphones were always destined to be the "do-everything" device. It wasn't so much forcing as much as it was the direction of the industry. Apple was just a catalyst. Also, there was no streaming service before Apple Music. Beats were (and still are) a headphone manufacturer well before Apple bought them. They had iTunes as a media store and streaming services like Rdio and Spotify paved the way until Apple joined the fray.
@@Denki If you mean that Apple was the 1st "real" music store, I agree with that. They started in 2003 and Amazon didn't start selling MP3s till 2008. If you are talking full on streaming audio, Apple didn't start till Beats Music in 2014.
I had the 4th gen nano. It was the only apple device I have ever bought brand new. In this day and age; I wouldn't bother with a dedicated music player. I have Spotify and a unlimited data plan on my phone. I can listen to all my favorite tunes while on the go. The iPod saved the music industry by allowing you to take your whole CD collection around with you in your pocket. Next iteration of that was the streaming services like Pandora and Spotify.
Great video... just found my old Ipod classic from my deployment. Bought a 3rd party cable and it still works. Listening to the music and watching the videos of my deployment brought back memories.
I got my iPod 6th gen after coming across Dank Pods, and I've grown quite a collection. I daily drive a 7th gen iPod touch, and my favorite iPod classic is a 6th/7th gen that I have put a rainbow front case on and a matching middle button. Thanks for activating this hobby Wade.
I have a monochrome 4th gen that i fixed and cleaned up thanks to Dankpods when he first started to do Ipod stuff on his channel. Your absolutely right Ken it does feel good just to put on music on an Ipod and just disconnect for a while. I also fixed up a 4th gen color screen version and a couple of minis that i gave to some family members.
I was never able to afford an iPod. I was content with my USB flash-drive style player from Phillips or JVC, can't remember. I only ever had cheap headphones, so I didn't know "good sound." It's neat to see what people are doing with iPods today.
he is wearing a koss porta pro. a design unchanged since the 1980s and more or less stays around the $40 price range. you should give it a try for affordable good sound. idk how cheap your budget is but that is an approachable pricepoint
This device was my whole childhood. from watching videos on my gba, my bro who works at an airport found me a classic in 160gb & gave it to me for xmas. So much music & movies I had on that device. Eventually made the switch to an ipod touch. The jailbreaking days of the touch was so crazy but nowadays, kids won't know the joy of installing rockbox on the classic T_T edit: I commented before the end of the video & thank you for showing rockbox! hahaha
I had this model too, and I loved it so much. My girlfriend at the time was using it and it was stolen in a string of car breakins in her apartment complex. I was devestated.
i have an ipod classic and it can fit more songs than i will ever have in it. fun for when you're on the go, has no other distractions on it except the music, the battery lasts very long, i'd recommend anyone to have it. in 2009 i had an ipod touch with more features but i like this one more
Watching any Denki video and seeing all the Love Live/Hololive/Miku with the tech is quite the experience lol Listening to μ's on an iPod Classic sure must be nostalgic~
When Denki Channel first started, I wasn't a big fan, but I came back to see what's new, and I love the content! I've been binge watching the channel at work all week. Keep up the good work Ken!
You def should. I just bought one iPod classic 160 gb and it's a real deal. Now i really just sit with this thing sometimes to listen to some more music. It really helps to concentrate on music.
In 2014, I picked-up my first iPod an old classic video 5th generation, and have been using it daily ever since. Prior to my retirement, I kept a charger stand plugged in a wall outlet both on my desk at home and, on my desk at work (smile...smile).
I have added SD to a few of my iPods, which I bought just to do that. Lol I got burnt by a few people misselling their iPods as 5 or 5.5 when they were really 6. So I'm going to do one of those as well, but I've not had any luck loafing Rock Box. To have anything larger than 128gb you need Rock Box for the 6th gen as it has a limitation. Yes I got the idea from Dankpods but I still enjoyed watching your video. 😅
I have an iPod Video 30GB from 2005. I loved it back then! I think that the iPod was fundamental in my youth since I was really listening to tons of music at that time. It still sort of works. The battery is a bit swollen, the headphone jack doesn't work, and it is pretty beat up. But I also have, from that same era, a Bose iPod dock speaker set. It charges my iPod and plays music. So my I just have to dock my iPod and I can just play music on it. So I still use my iPod to play music in my room every now and then. You can still sync your iPod with Apple Music in a Mac. Finding the cable is a bit more difficult, though
I refurbished my iPod classic 7th gen I actually used in highschool just like this. Its now purple and black, has 1tb of storage, and a huge battery. Next thing i want to try is adding the bluetooth mod to it. I use it every day again, and its super nostalgic. I installed Rockbox, but hardly ever use that, since you can still boot into the original OS. Its just a little to Janky for me to want to daily drive. Its a relatively easy process, and its awesome to be able to customize the look of your iPod to look the way it should have when we got them back in the day.
So, in case you're interested, the Ugreen Nintendo Switch bluetooth adapter that plugs into the headphone jack fits and works perfectly with the 5.5 gens, if you want Bluetooth support. It doesn't look as sleek, but a Bluetooth iPod Video is worth it imo
I can't recommend it. The performance is poor and I've found it to cut out and stutter in a _pocket_ so unless you want your iPod in line-of-sight at all times, I'd find a different solution.
I still have my 512 GB one from college and I pick it up every now and again, and when me and my partner didn’t live together I let him have it and he would listen to it when he missed me, such a great device
In categories or folders with music videos. I just purchased another one for my new corvette. You see why stream when you already have your favorite music saved at the click of a alpine 11 inch touch screen with focal blasting. It's bought paid for and my old iPad is still working 15 years later❤
I still love and use my iPod shuffle! It's small, holds adequate music for a run or workout, and it's easy to charge. I may have a problem with loading new music, given the new Apple Music Apps, but it hasn't caused a problem ... for nearly 20 years!!!
I actually own two iPod classics. I take one in the car sometimes because I hate hearing all the bings that interfere with music playback on a smartphone. However, I never thought of changing out the drive for a sd card. Things are about to happen.
So all that you really used from the used iPod was the metal frame and the electronics. It's nice that all those parts are available so you can repair/upgrade an iPod classic.
I just bought a 256 gb ipod 5.5 on ebay fully refurbished. So far I am very happy with my purchase. It has very long battery life. The only problem I have is that sometimes iTunes won't detect my ipod but my pc recognizes its plugged in. Maybe its a software issue with the windows version of iTunes, but so far I am very happy. 😂
@@kevinrivera9336 I still use iTunes on my windows 11. Though sometimes it doesn't detect it. My work around is if it doesn't detect my 5.5 gen classic then I plug in my nano 3rd gen which it always seems to detect then after that it detects my 5.5. 😀
I have put Rockbox on 5 gen 5.5 and have been running them for over 1- years with zero freeze-ups or any anomolies whatsoever. I play all FLAC and still use the original 80gb hard drives.
I just did this exact upgrade and did the type c mod with audio. Works great. My next project is converting a Bose soundock to type c to have a fully modern dock/charge/speaker setup.
I've been eyeing ipods to replace the one I broke the battery connector on. Now I'm more determined to refurbish mine. It's so near and dear to my heart.
I thought about to buy an iPod Classic and ended up buying a iPhone SE from 2016 with 128GB, because it got all the connections I needed like wifi. Most of the time all connections are off to get not a single notification. Works great! I paid 88€ 😮
I had an iPod classic for 11 years as my daily companion 💫💕 … 90 gb of music, I had a playlist that could last me for dayssss without a repeat song!! I loved it soo much but eventually one of the ear stopped working.. shoving a bit of a foil in the audio jack did do the job but then it wasn’t the same for me.. and now we just stream..
This video pushed me to pick up a 5th Gen Video, mod it and load up my favorite tunes. Forgot how involving the process could be to curate what and when I listen to music. Thanks Ken!
That's some solid pandering to millennial nostalgia, and I'm there for it. I have more or less the same iPod sitting next to me on a shelf (5.0 30gb version, though). I bought it in 2006 shortly after starting college and used it more or less daily through 2011, when I bought an iPhone. It even still works, running for 3-4 hours on its original battery. Going from burned CD-Rs and trying to cram as much as I could onto a MiniDisc, to having just... all of my music on one device that easily fit in my pocket was a complete game-changer. Now... do I actually use the thing these days? Nah. It's a fun time capsule to chill with here and there, just like my Walkman and MiniDisc player, but the combo of Apple Music on an iPhone connected to AirPods Pro 2 is just too good to pass up. If the iPod ever actually breaks (I'm guessing the HDD eventually), I'll see if I can give it a refurb with a new battery and the same SD card mod, but try to keep it more or less stock otherwise.
100% I'm not fooling myself to the point that this is going to be my main music machine when I always have my phone and BT headphones on me. The convenience is too good. However, for the few times a week I simply want to sit down and focus on music or relive some nostalgia, an iPod is perfect for that! I've been keeping it on my bedside to wind-down before I hit the hay.
@@Denki it’s definitely its own vibe, having a dedicated device just for music. I’d probably be more willing to give it a shot again if 3/4 of my music library weren’t streaming content. I have a decent collection from ripped CDs and iTunes purchases up until Apple Music launched, but everything after that would need to be purchased somehow first to get it onto an iPod. I once added that up… and we’re talking new car amounts of money 😓
I did the same with my iPod I have the 4th gen photo and added a bigger drive I still use mine today and also repaired it the plastic and the aluminum back love it
It’s strange that I seem so much non-dankpods-iPod-content recently. I like it! Back in the day, I always wanted an iPod, but I was poor, so I only had one of those terrible USB-Stick-MP3-players that used an AAA battery and had this tiny two-way-joystick. Then after a hand-me-down nano, around 10 years ago I finally got what I wanted back in the day, an (used) iPod (video), and also started nodding around (this is also why I found DankPods quite early). I amassed quite a few since then, mostly 5th-7th gentbh I don’t hear a difference between the 5 and the 5.5, but still, those are nifty devices! I did not do too many mods in the past (battery, iFlash, occasionally a new case), but I might attempt a Bluetooth-mod in the future. Congratulations to your „new“ iPod!
Back in the day i used to work at an Apple Partner where we repair and do warranty jobs on this models. We harvest a lot of components and not reparable units... Thanks for the memory!
Yes you should still buy one because the cirrus logic sound chip was AMAZING. The playback sound quality is amazing. They’ve skipped out on the sound chips in all iPhones
Totally would use that.... I never had an iPod back then as they were crazy expensive and the right mp3 player would be smaller and mach cheaper. So I bought a tiny SanDisk mp3 player, which is sized like a thicker iPod shuffle BUT WITH A DISPLAY!!! it's fun to listen to music without a smartphone!
I’m hella grateful for my dad giving me his iPod I only ever had a mp3 player with the ubs on the side my brother gave me but lost it after a move my dad over almost 10 thousand on his iPod I’m letting it play on a speaker it came with listen to whatever he had on it
I still rock my 5th gen iPod classic when I'm walking out and about or when I'm driving - it's a part of me. A girl I was seeing again after years of not speaking, scoffed when she saw I still was rocking my iPod. She said it was outdated technology ... adorable comment. If you don't know any better, I can see why one would say that, but if you actually take a peek around, there are all kinds of adapters for the iPod to pair with newer technology.
I still daily drive my Ipod classic (5.5 gen too) because of the fact it was set up by my uncle who shares my music taste. So pretty much every old school american rock band is on it. I could never have that sort of library on spotify. So I use the Ipod on my daily commute to college
I love my full transparent faceplate and wheel, but the all yellow and black is so clean. It is more so my car's music player now since I got the fiio m11s, but for like a hundred bucks or so and a bit of know how, it's hard to argue that a refurbed ipod isn't a solid pick.
In the 2000s I graduated college, went through grad school, and was a young professional. So the first MP3 player I got was a Creative Labs that was pretty good. The interface wasn't quite as well as the original iPads when it came to the touch dial. My roommate actually found a fully functional iPad (classic) on the side of a road. But as far as quality line out with headphones, they were all good. Also I would say with this comment about what DAC chips are present with a player: sometimes there might be something with EQ or DSP...but especially brand of DAC chip means nothing. I've had high end components with DAC chips deemed bright sounding, and their analog output pretty muddy sounding.
I just bought a charger for my old iPod this Black Friday before seeing this video today. I was feeling nostalgic as well 😂 I just had the patience to at least change the battery but nevertheless it feels good listening to old songs you can’t find on s Spotify
Picked up two of them a couple of years ago. I put a new battery in each one. The hard disc is finally starting to show it's age so that'll be the next thing I address. You're spoiled for choice in these things and my recommendations are the 4th gen/mini. These are the first ones that worked with windows pcs and the Gameboy style screen is visible in daylight. You also want to download the actual exe file from Apple directly since the iTunes app in the Microsoft store doesn't contain the support files for the ipod and is just a music player interface.
yep still run ipod classics for daily music. I have 2 stock classic 7 160G (1 still new) for short trips and a 5.5 that I have rockboxed to 365G with a 3000 battery that gives me about a weeks worth of listening at 6-8 hours a day. Left the outside stock and a bit rough looking so less likely to be stolen. Was done for traveling light matched with KZ earphones for easy use and Meze classic 99 for use at home. The best apple product ever made.
Watched this while waiting on my music to sync to my modded iPod mini Definitely gonna use it more now that I have it fixed up, though I really need to get a better pair of headphones for it (Would do KSC75s since they're super compact but I need to have something that's closed-back)
@@maodebo3301 I know I’m a bit late but I had the same question and did some digging. Now I could be wrong but the ones that I found that look pretty similar and I’m pretty sure are the ones he’s using are the Koss Porta Pro! They’re not too expensive Amazon has them for $40 right now!
This is nostalgic. When i was in high school i took apart one of these in order to install a transparent faceplate (which i waited like over a year for because the company i bought it from was super flaky)
This is a really good video my dude. Been curious about getting an Ipod in this day and age since I was feeling kinda nostalgic for the days when I owned music versus streaming.
I have two 5.5 gen 80gb iPods. One white that I personally use, and a black one with a collapsed center button but it still has all of the original owner's stuff: 6895 tracks!
I did the exact same thing with my 5.5, minus the faceplate and click wheel swap. To the T. I use it all the time; I like to have my music library in a dedicated device, made just for music.
I don't like iPods, never did. I did own an iPod touch back in the day because I wasn't allowed a tablet or smart phone, so I convinced my parents that an iPod touch was an mp3 player primarily, not an iPhone without cellular. If I needed an Mp3/Mp4 player today, I'd get a Walkman, maybe I'd look for a 40th anniversary cassette player Walkman mp4 player.
I rocked a 256MB iPod Touch right up until I got a car that supported Android Auto. I even bought a new iPod at that point to use CarPlay, but since I couldn't have CarPlay and Android Auto active at the same time, it just made more sense to use my phone for music. Still have many GB of high quality MP3 on there, mostly at 320kbps.
After I took THE L on my PSX, figured we'd fix something a bit easier 😏

How do you put music on it?

I also had/have a 5.5, the main issue with using one of these in 2023 is that there is kind of a limit on how many songs you can have on it. Even if you beef up the storage you cant do anything about the RAM, when you have too many songs the low RAM causes it to crash and skip all the time. If you dont have many songs or dont need them all on the iPod all the time then they do still sound great.
The 80GB (and bigger) have 64MB of RAM. Then you'll see some iPods with 1TB storage.
The 30GB version of the 5.5 still can take 20000 songs. I don’t know about you but to me that is still „many songs“. Sure there is a limit but it’s quite high and while worth considering it’s quite a high limit. 20k songs is not anything most people just own.
I WISH apple would release a standalone music player updated for today’s streaming services Spotify, Apple Music, Soundcloud etc
You can always get like an iPhone 6/7 and use it only for music, they are quite cheap now
there is the 7th gen touch
This guy makes yellow and black look extra fantastic on him, damn. Also never thought modding an iPod Classic was possible, thank you!

I’m thinking about getting another iPod as I want a dedicated device for my music and podcasts. I like having my phone, but it gets to be overwhelming. I miss the early 2000s where each device was separated.
Use 7 gen 160 Ipod and upgrade it with m2 . I use 1Tb though it supoorts even 2Tb. Inise wav fles , true hi-end
I had my M2 1Tb :))
@@sweetytobleron656 I’ve read several anecdotes about it being difficult to use disks in excess of 256gb or so due to constraints on the music database - but with drives under 1TB all being basically the same price, it’s worth experimenting!
regained my love for mp3 players around two years ago with my old ipod classic 5.5 i found in a drawer. did battery and iflash mods and loved it. led me to try the walkman lineup of mp3 players, to more easily listen to flacs. now i swap between my ipod and a walkman nw-a35 for daily drivers
I still use my iPod! Nothing like owning your music library and have complete control over your listening habits. Spotify, even with a subscription, is super invasive in regards of whet the app WANTS you to listen.
This is why it's important to NEVER give up physical media for streaming
It's CF card size harddisk with CF (compact flash) interface, it's should be easy to use compact flash because it still produced.
@@Denki If you mean that Apple was the 1st "real" music store, I agree with that. They started in 2003 and Amazon didn't start selling MP3s till 2008. If you are talking full on streaming audio, Apple didn't start till Beats Music in 2014.
Nee upgrade sets yse m2 up to 2 Tb ! Great transport / player especially if You use wav
How do you add music
I still have a 2GB neon green JVC MP3 player. I don't use it for anything, but I still have it.
he is wearing a koss porta pro. a design unchanged since the 1980s and more or less stays around the $40 price range. you should give it a try for affordable good sound. idk how cheap your budget is but that is an approachable pricepoint
This device was my whole childhood. from watching videos on my gba, my bro who works at an airport found me a classic in 160gb & gave it to me for xmas. So much music & movies I had on that device. Eventually made the switch to an ipod touch. The jailbreaking days of the touch was so crazy but nowadays, kids won't know the joy of installing rockbox on the classic T_T
edit: I commented before the end of the video & thank you for showing rockbox! hahaha
I had this model too, and I loved it so much. My girlfriend at the time was using it and it was stolen in a string of car breakins in her apartment complex. I was devestated.
i have an ipod classic and it can fit more songs than i will ever have in it. fun for when you're on the go, has no other distractions on it except the music, the battery lasts very long, i'd recommend anyone to have it. in 2009 i had an ipod touch with more features but i like this one more
Watching any Denki video and seeing all the Love Live/Hololive/Miku with the tech is quite the experience lol

Just seeing Snow Halation had me going..
Lol
I got burnt by a few people misselling their iPods as 5 or 5.5 when they were really 6.
So I'm going to do one of those as well, but I've not had any luck loafing Rock Box.
To have anything larger than 128gb you need Rock Box for the 6th gen as it has a limitation.
Yes I got the idea from Dankpods but I still enjoyed watching your video. 😅

Just bought an iPod 7th gen, immaculate condition and only has had 28 hours of playback, gonna keep it original for a bit 😊
I don't recommend BT at all, no matter what. If you've got a headphone jack, get a good set of headphones.
Here in 2024 -> Convinced me that my next DIY Project should be an Ipod Classic Mod Kit. Thanks for the Inspiration!

Pick m2 , not iflash.
Love my iPod Classic. Use it everyday and is my favourite music listening device

100%
I'm not fooling myself to the point that this is going to be my main music machine when I always have my phone and BT headphones on me.
I once added that up… and we’re talking new car amounts of money 😓

Seeing “Last Night Good Night” on an iPod’s screen took me RIGHT BACK to when I had one

Yes you should still buy one because the cirrus logic sound chip was AMAZING. The playback sound quality is amazing. They’ve skipped out on the sound chips in all iPhones
Such a great device. I still have my 80GB iPod Classic to this day. Solid piece of tech
I would llke to get a Ipod that I could mod with a new battery , flash storage, and Bluetooth. Still looking for a used one that is affordable.

I have a modded 5.5 gen with custom case, wheel and iflash kit. SUPER easy tbh.
Apple, please bring back the Classic with updated plug in power ports, updated chipset & longer battery life. Thank YOU !
Omg where did you find this! I had a nano and loved it. This iPod and the zume had us in a chokehold 😭
Denki is my new fav tech channel 🍻
Watched this while waiting on my music to sync to my modded iPod mini
Definitely gonna use it more now that I have it fixed up, though I really need to get a better pair of headphones for it (Would do KSC75s since they're super compact but I need to have something that's closed-back)

This is a really good video my dude. Been curious about getting an Ipod in this day and age since I was feeling kinda nostalgic for the days when I owned music versus streaming.
I recently found my iPod shuffle (2nd gen) and fell in love with it again
I have two 5.5 gen 80gb iPods. One white that I personally use, and a black one with a collapsed center button but it still has all of the original owner's stuff: 6895 tracks!
I did the exact same thing with my 5.5, minus the faceplate and click wheel swap. To the T. I use it all the time; I like to have my music library in a dedicated device, made just for music.
This was such a vibe to watch. Thanks for the iPod memories
Subbed & Liked! Enjoyed the video! Good work & God bless in ‘24!
I gave mine to my parents in law to use at their holiday home. Now I want it back 😂
Now imagine this with USB-C and WiFi connection for running Spotify. It would be perfect!
