    Do you know Dave, after watching this superb video, I've just realised why I've made such a mess of making things over the years. I'm now 72, and when I was a young child, I would go out on a Saturday afternoon and buy an Airfix Kit to make when I got home. I couldn't wait to make it and play with it over the weekend, hence the impatience to have it ready to play with. This has influenced me all my life, and looking at the way you take your time checking everything fits, before you apply Glue, explains why everything you build, works from the word go. So at this late time in my life, it's a lesson that I'm delighted to have learnt and will apply to the best of my ability when I next build something on my layout. Patience is a must, and I have several friends who build miniature Steam Traction Engines that have taken 15 years or more to build, so as the old saying goes Dave, 'You're never too old to learn'...Thanks as always....Bob

      Robert Masterman Thanks Bob. While I’m keen to get things completed at in place on the layout I know that if I rush it I’ll not be happy with it. It’s going to be in situ in the layout for a good while so it has to be right first time.
      Why finish a project today, when you can continue it tomorrow and make a better job of it... that’s my mentality when approaching these big projects.
      As always Bob, it’s a pleasure to hear from you.
      Dave

    That's a good looking kit, and well designed too.
    It's also nice to see a depot building that isn't the usual Bachmann resin one, or the Hornby/Peco depot buildings used 'again'.
    This kit looks a lot like the one formerly found at Buxton.
    I think my only criticism of this kit is that only one side has glazing on it. Not only is that exceptionally rare, but it means of someone decided to scrap a layout and rebuild, they could only re-use this depot building pointing in one direction.
    However, it may be that the company will allow you to costomise your model by cutting you a second glazed side.

      @DeanPark  5 лет назад +1

      UK Diesel and Electric Railway Modelling I’m sure knowing Steve of laser lines he could sort something out and adapt the kit to suit (for a cost!) as it would take longer to produce a shed with extra parts and cut outs.

    Hi dave
    Fantastic card kit and very simple to put together.
    I heard you say at the end about fixing the outer walls to the kit by using pva glue.
    With my card kits I use hobby crafts extra tacky glue it's a stronger version of pva might be something you can look into.
    Peter from birmingham

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  5 лет назад

      southway1943 I am going to use this form of pva to fix the roof as due to its length and thin construction using normal pva will take too long to ‘bite’.

    Thanks for the tutorial Dave on the techniques on how to glue. Believe me when I say it was a revelation and eye opener because I was always afraid the glue would lose its effectiveness when added to an external surface like your paper. So with cocktail stick and paper, I will try using this next time I make a kit. Also, there are too many adverts on your Video channel. I can only agree with another person's observation "... more adverts than STV." Out of jnterest what is the length, width and height of your shed because I am about to do a scratch buìld of one which is 250 ft by 60 ft scaled down to OO it will be 1000mm by 240m. Thanks, Mike (from Perth)

    Morning Dave excellent video as per usual
    Good tip with the cocktail stick and glue saves it going every where and re painting would you say the rocket glue is the best? I have a few plastic kits to do during the winter months cheers

      David Maguire I use Roket rapid for glueing anything and for plastic kits I like deluxe plastic magic.

    I’ve heard the old timers say that only painting one side of a board will make it warp further down the line. Does the brick sheet count as paint? This looks like a really good kit. If my Hornby shed bash doesn’t work out, I’ll keep this one in mind.

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  5 лет назад +1

      Tom Lee Hi, it’s unlikely to warp as the trusses and internal framed will keep it rigid. All exposed surfaces are sealed with layers of paint.mdf will warp is unsealed.
      The base, once in place with also keep the structure rigid.

    Once again I'm highly impressed by your ability to create such fine models from kits, but at £139.99 for this kit my own lack of ability precludes the investment. I shall continue to watch development of this and all the other elements on Dean Park Station.

    I just got my first laser cut kit. Not a huge building just a Peco highland signal box. Your gluing method will be tried out on it. I have always used glue direct from the bottle or tube. As others say Toooo many adds in this upload including 2 I could not skip Grrrr

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  5 лет назад

      cedarcam hi thanks. Try it.. it’s easier to control the flow of glue.
      Yes, sorry about the bloody adverts. I’ll have to check the settings and if I can I’ll turn the ads mid way through off. No idea where these little ones have come from

    • @cedarcam
      @cedarcam 5 лет назад

      It sure looks a better way than I have used all the years Ah well as they say Never too old to learn something new. As for the adds they seem to of increased on many uploads in the last few weeks. Gets really annoying seeing the same one over and over LOL
