  • Progress on the Model Railway depot this month. I lay the tarmac and paint it. I also furnish the depot office using excellent desks from www.scalemodelscenery.co.uk/l... (alliliate). Lots of day and night running shots from Dean Park Model Railway....enjoy!

The blinds, doors, desks and chairs... all dean park inspired (I nagged Justin long enough until he made them for me lol). There’s been HO office furniture for years, but it’s great They are starting to get in on the act with OO gauge stuff.

    Dave, 'Driven By Detail' might be what you say...but...I think you go beyond that. You was the main one that got me into building a layout (as you can see from my layout) but, yet again, Ive watched this video and even though most (of my few subscribers) have mentioned, that Ive done an amazing job with converting the hornby Station buildings, I still want to take them further and thanks to you (yet again), I really have been given some ideas of what to do to them. Dave, you'll never know how much inspiration you've gave me. All the best, Lee

    • @DeanPark

      Lee Whall Lee, West you’ve said is really humbling. To hear someone say that they’ve got into modelling a layout on the back of my work is just amazing. Thank you.
      This building has pushed me to the edge of my abilities. It’s turned out even better than I’d hoped. I hope the rest of the depot can do it justice.

    Hi Dave fantastic update, October is a good month for the lights to be switched on, long dark nights of winter ahead. It sounds a complicated lighting system, I wish you all the best with it ...........John.

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  4 года назад

      Hi John, Its not so much complicated. Its just 13 separately wires LED's, but its just the sheer amount of wire needing fed out the bottom of the office, through holes in to the limited space below that is complicated. Hopefully it'll work without issue, if it doesn't its a bit of a chore to get into the office to amend it. Cheers. Dave

    Excellent detailing inside and outside the office. The tarmac looks very realistic. Now I think my platforms need a bit of work on them LOL. Inside the office will look great at night with all the detail visible. A lot of effort but it will be well worth it. Also below I replied to a comment on the signalling which has been noticed. It may be something that can be changed by a simple reconnection of the circuit to the green output of the signal unit so both light together

    Another great video. Good work on the depot building and concrete surround.
    Is that an OFF signal that went off then on again in the station, if so its pointing the wrong way, it's supposed to signal the driver that all station duties are finished and get ready to proceed, when it changes, then they can leave station. So should be pointing the other way in that position, or have one at each end of platforms. Don Coffey covers various station signals in his videos, not just the standard signals.
    Your layout gets better with each update, well done on the local recognition, keep up the good work

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  4 года назад +1

      Philip Lettley Thanks. The line with the OFF signal is dual direction. It’s to give info to the train crew as the signal At other end is unsighted from this area.

    • @cedarcam
      @cedarcam 4 года назад +2

      That is an OFF indicator you saw yes. There is a bit of a problem by the look of it. Hope my explanation helps both you and Dave. Firstly the indicator is facing the right way. It applies to the signal at the far end of the station going in the other direction. For the class 20 hauled train we see it should not be illuminated at all. There is another indicator I think you have in mind and I will explain that one as well. Normally the OFF indicator is out. When the train is ready to depart the platform dispatcher or guard has to make sure the train has a proceed signal before giving a green handsignal light or using the trains buzzer to tell the driver they can depart. If the signal cannot be seen from the platform an OFF indicator is provided to show station staff and guards the signal is showing proceed. The Off indicator will only illuminate if the signal should be showing a proceed aspect (is OFF)and it has a light in it. The indicator was introduced after an accident where the guard gave the right away and that put in the drivers mind he could go. He passed the signal at danger and collided with another train. So now there is in effect a double check that the signal is OFF. The other indicator is an RA. Right Away. This one does face the driver and again is normally out. When station duties are complete a button on the platform is pressed to confirm that. When the signal changes to a proceed aspect and is proven to be alight the RA indicator illuminates showing the driver the train can depart. These are used in places where a driver cannot see the green handsignal. At some stations a loud sounding bell was used as well as or instead of the RA indicator.

    Hello David, truly magnificent scratch build. Wonderfully detailed. You really are a tough taskmaster with your employees. Not one sitting down. They’re all milling about, worried about your arrival. 😂. Thanks for the night shots. See ya next time.
