    Please note that photo lenses do not have fixed infinity focus position (you can actuality focus further then infinity, what you probably did with your lens). This is intentional, as back focus isn't adjustable on photo lenses in any way (while it is adjustable on pro video lenses and shimming is used for cinema lenses). What you actually did by adjusting Metabones is shifting od back focus. Please note that back focus is variable with temprture of the equipment, so adjusting Metabones is not permanent fix...

    Also, little trick, you can make any lens a macro lens by doing the oposite with that :D

    • @ZachMayfield
      @ZachMayfield  6 лет назад +3

      Whaaaaat. Dude that's genius. You should totally make a video on that.

    • @DanielPeacocke

      The only annoying this is that I cant get to to perfect infinity. It always hits infinity a little sooner, then it goes out of focus in the last little bit. Ugh.

      @@DanielPeacocke Thats a quirk of all lenses. I have been told by people who don't use speedboosters to focus to infinity and then dial it back a touch. So it seems everyone has that issue.

    • @DanielPeacocke
      @DanielPeacocke 4 года назад +1

      @@skatepark02 Yeah, I've recently learned its to deal with lenses being used on different cameras so sometimes infinity isnt the same from camera to camera. The extra little bit on the lens accounts for that

    Hello, i may have done this wrong with my metabones ultra but in order to get the focus marker on my sigma 18-35 @18mm to infinity i had to turn the element in/clockwise 90 degrees? Should i not be using focus marker as a reference on an adapted lens?? Thanks in advance and sorry if its a stupid question!

    Super helpful for not just GH5 shooters and a topic that isn't often discussed. Nice video dude. Wondering if there are any disadvantages to changing the 'back focus' of the metabones. At a certain point would it start to affect the macro abilities on the opposite side of the focal distance? hmmm...

    • @ZachMayfield
      @ZachMayfield  5 лет назад

      Really appreciate you checking it out man. Yeah I'm not totally sure of the disadvantages. Over time and I can really feel the wear and tear on the ole speedbooster. It's once again struggling with infinity focus just with the Tokina 11-16. My friend has the .64 metabones and it doesn't struggle at all. Might finally be time to try that out.

    Hey Zach, I may have a similar problem like you had except my 18-35 is perfectly sharp all the way but Tokina 11-16 (new housing) can't focus to infinity at all. I have it with MB Speedbooster 0.71 ULTRA and BMPCC4K/GH4. Do you think if I change it according your instructions on SB so Tokina is sharp in infinity I will not have a problems with other lenses like Sigma 18-35?
    Thanks and have a good one!

      I don't know if you ever found a solution, but I was in the same situation and decided to try loosening the allen keys that hold the mount on in addition to the other screw and that finally allowed me to move the glass. Hope that helps!

    • @ewave79
      @ewave79 4 года назад

      Hey guys, i just bought a Nikon to mft metabones and tried the fix but as with you the Glass wouldnt turn. No Chance even when I took of the mount. It seems kinda loose but it does not move a single Millimeter as if there is still a screw blocking it. Sure there is no more screw.
      Question: did anyone fix this issue on a Nikon speedbooster ultra?
