This is the third video I've seen by you, and you're quickly becoming my favorite channel...in the world, on any topic. The production value and accuracy and visuals are just absolutely insanely well-done. Thank you so much for what you do.
This video contains INCREDIBLE amount of ACCURATE information and amazing way to express it with visuals !!!!!!! Cannot truly say enough to be fair on the AMAZING EFFORT !!!! Congradulations !!!!!!!! One question , please : Can i use the Sigma 18-35/F1.8 with the XL0.64 Speedbooster , if i decide to use ONLY the 24mm-35mm Focal Length ??!!
Thank you ! I really care about the 9 minutes you spent watching the video, as much as you cared to watch it. Interesting, I'll test that when I have an XL in my hands and let you know. It should actually be OK because I've already used a (Full Frame) 5D Mark II with the 18-35 set at 35mm, vignetting was only very strong at 18. Let me check that once I have an XL to try !
@@zebrazone I really appreciate your response and your interest. Your behaviour is exceptional. You stand out among RUclipsRS , like a sunshine into the darkness. BRAVO,BRAVO,BRAVO !!!!!
When I use the sigma 18-35 on my GH5 with the Xl 0.64 Speedbooster it works the hole focal length as long as I'm filming. But with photos it starts to crop at around 23 when I'm in 4:3 mode. Don't know if its the same with the Blackmagic Pocket 4K? But they should have about the same size on the sensor. And with that camera you won't be taking any photos I'm guessing. @@HollywoodweddingfilmsGREECE
@@hatakekakashi938 Thank you for your input. Unfortunately Pocket 4K has a sensor 10% bigger/wider than GH5. Pocket 4K = 18.96mm GH5 = 17.30mm As a result , it creates significantly more vignetting in the XL speedbooster. But i am not sure which focal lengths are affected by this , on the Sigma 18-35.
@@HollywoodweddingfilmsGREECE I rented BMPCC 4K last week, it came with Metabones Speedbooster EF/BMCC. When I've tried it with Sigma 18-35 and few Xeen Cine lenses I've noticed some aberrations and vignetting in the corners. I switched Metabones for my EF/M43 XL (x0,64) and image was crystal clear.
a lot of people dont want the sharpest lens, so the viltrox would be perfect. Anamorphic lens do the same thing, and I love aberrations. It adds so much more to the camera, instead of an old boring sharp lens lol.
it is really a difference in sharpness, but with viltrox the problem is that you have to "tune" it correctly. This glass can be moved closer or further to the sensor. That solves also a lack of sharpness in the infinity problem. Great content! cheers!
Unless you are making money with your cameras, Viltrox ALL THE WAY. There is absolutely going to be better footage with a $700 adapter vs a $70 adapter. Metabones overcharges to much and if they were in the $300 max range its still overpriced but I would have considered it. I have a Viltrox myself and work has metabones, yes Mete is nicer but for personal use, the price cannot be beat. I expect 10 times better performance for that price and it was better but not at that price. But again, Metabones is meant for those doing this for a living so they will charge high prices, I do like de-clicked on Metabones where Viltrox is clicked. Viltrox is all manual, a BMPCC will not use the cameras functions for Iris. Metabones is like Autodesk, they charge so much because pros use it and can afford it, but their is the cheap version with far less for non-pros.
I have an active Canon EF lens with a Viltrox speedbooster. I can definitely confirm that the Viltrox will most definitely allow for electronic control of the iris, autofocus, and will allow lens stabilization to work.

Quite possibly the best tech review video on RUclips, and most definitely as it relates to focal reducers. This the best video in this category, by far. Thank you for this content.
This by far the most detailed comparison of the speed booster I've seen yet and probably ever will. I actually have viltrox adapter on my Gh4 with sigma 18-35 and for the most part I think the image quality is sharp for enough. It's very good to know the differences between the two. I might get a speed booster by metabones once I get enough money from the Gh4. Despite the shortcomings the viltrox is just an incredible adapter to get started with for the price.

Excellent video. I think the problem with Viltox or Chinese boosters is the quality control, the majority are very good, some are correct and a few are just crappy. I agree with you about image quality, but if you plan to use pro lenses, not sure a cheap booster (or even an expensive one) is an option but when working with old lenses such as Russian M42 or T2, the ultimate sharpest is not the aim of the booster, it's more bokeh (especially in MFT) and in this specific case, even the low cost ones do perfectly the job. I prefer not to use adapted AF lenses because often, there are AF (speed or accuracy) and back/front-focus issues. When I need to have sharp, perfectly controlled images, I prefer to use "native" premium or pro lens, ideally fixed focal. I use zooms only when I travel. About the lens attachment, with Viltrox adapters (not only boosters), on MFT you need to make a little bit deeper the hole connecting to the camera (on the MFT rear mount) to be sure it locks properly. I had this issue on Olympus OMD-1 (both mark II and III) and on OMD-5 mark III but not on OMD-5 (mark I and II), probably Olympus changed a little bit its connector to reduce use of third-parties adapters and/or to improve something but to be sure the connection works, the small hole must be drilled +-0.5mm. It has no impact on mount to older Olympus or Panasonic cameras. I had the same issue with some other adapters I bought or I printed.
Other comparisons show that the corner sharpness on the viltrox improves significantly once you stop down to 2 or 2.8. Also, the Sigma 18-35 is an apsc lens, so it may be better with full frame lenses. Bonjour 8:21 Top Right Corner 8:24 Lower Right Corner And yes, this is the proof that your copy has an issue (QC) and as very nicely you described in the early part of the clip, about that mounting gap.
I don't have a Metabones Speed Booster to test against my Viltrox EF-Eii Speed Booster. However, I am fairly happy with my Viltrox, using it with Canon EF lenses modified for use on the Sony APSC A6400 and A6500 cameras... I use this almost exclusively for portraits so the unsharp edges do not bother me to any great degree and, perhaps because I am only using the center portion of the frame, I don't notice the unsharp edges too much. I also have an inexpensive M42 to E-mount speed booster which I also use primarily for portrait work. I was able to get the Viltrox EF-Eii Speed Booster for right about $100 (U.S. Dollars) on-line. Since I primarily use native e-mount lenses, except for portraits, the Viltrox provides an economical accessory for my e-mount APSC cameras. I have noticed that my EF 70-200mm f/4L IS and 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS ii lenses auto focus better with the Viltrox than with the Metabones IV and Sigma MC-11 adapters...

Very awesome video bro! liked and subscribed!
