    Thank you so much for making your directions easy to follow, you explain everything perfectly. I made this for a family function, it traveled well and was a hit. I changed up the filling as you suggested and made a few variations for people to try, some with nuts, some with lemon zest, some without raisins. It was also a great recipe to have my granddaughter help me with! I have subscribed and I can't wait to see what's next!! Again thank you so much, you are the best!

    I’ve made this for pudding this evening, we had friends over, such a great recipe to follow and it looked and smelled amazing! But stupidly enough I sprinkled salt on the top instead of sugar before it went to the oven & very generously too!!! You should have seen everyone’s faces... 😂 lol! It could have been the best apple strudel I ever made... so funny! But I will definitely make it again! The filling was still very tasty. Thank you! Z

    I discovered my neighbor has a mackintosh apple tree.. His wife died two months ago and was sad. I decided to try my first strudel. After looking over several videos, yours was the most attractive. I made it and he said it was the best he had ever had. It was fab for my first. My only down side in mine was, there was that infamous hole. Where did I go wrong? Should I slit my braids ? There were no openings in mine.

    • @DimitrasDishes
      @DimitrasDishes  4 года назад +1

      Hi! The frozen strudel will take much longer to bake. Between 45 mins to an hour. It’s better to bake it frozen than to thaw it. Once it’s golden and puffed, it’s ready :) enjoy!!

    Would it be a good idea to sprinkle the apple slices with some fresh lemon juice so they don’t turn brown? 🍏 🍋

    • @DimitrasDishes
      @DimitrasDishes  5 лет назад

      Sure! I've never had that happen and since the sauce is almost like a caramel, It doesn't matter, but lemon adds a lovely freshness so, go for it :)

    I watched this video because I wanted to learn how to "braid" the puff pastry...but unfortunately you skipped over how to START the braid at 4:58. I understand to alternate, but I wanted to know if there are any tips on starting the braid so the apple and sauce does not leak out.

    A coworker gave us a large bag of apples, three varieties. I cooked them according to your recipe and used Pepperidge Farm puff pastry sheets. Using white sugar and light brown sugar the first batch was too sweet for me and omitted the white sugar with the other batches. The finished braids were excellent, my wife said they looked and tasted like they came from a bakery! My question is why do you list brown sugar and white sugar?

    • @DimitrasDishes
      @DimitrasDishes  5 лет назад

      I love salted butter too! It's not too salty here in the states however, overseas it tends to be extra salty. That's why I recommend unsalted. You can control the flavor better that way :)

    I find the raisins lose the apple taste, also I'm intolerant to dried fruit unless it's in a Christmas pudding or cake when the dried fruit is soaked up in rum or brandy.

    • @DimitrasDishes

      No problem. You can leave them out and it will still be delicious. This apple filling is so tasty!
