Great, easy to follow recipe and beautifully presented... particularly for a scotsman like me. I'm making it for my wife and kids tonight. Thanks again 👍
I live in the south, Alabama. My mama always said “ never go to someone’s house with your arms swinging by your sides” love it . All mama’s are the same.
This just popped up on my screen and made my mouth water! Looks delicious and the presentation is clear and so perfect you can’t miss! Can’t wait to try this soon! This is such a creative way to do apple strudel too. Thanks for a wonderful desert!
Hey I just made this and it was DELICIOUS!! My roommates absolutely loved it, thanks so much for sharing. Definitely saving this recipe for another time!
I am currently preparing this !! And it all already smells sooo good in my Home ((; Thankyou so much for sharing!!! I had one piece of pastry chilling in my freezer and yay I got to use it well (:
Thank you so much for making your directions easy to follow, you explain everything perfectly. I made this for a family function, it traveled well and was a hit. I changed up the filling as you suggested and made a few variations for people to try, some with nuts, some with lemon zest, some without raisins. It was also a great recipe to have my granddaughter help me with! I have subscribed and I can't wait to see what's next!! Again thank you so much, you are the best!
Aww, thanks so much for your kind words and support! These videos take hours to create and it brings my heart joy when I read messages like yours. All the very best!!
I’ve made this for pudding this evening, we had friends over, such a great recipe to follow and it looked and smelled amazing! But stupidly enough I sprinkled salt on the top instead of sugar before it went to the oven & very generously too!!! You should have seen everyone’s faces... 😂 lol! It could have been the best apple strudel I ever made... so funny! But I will definitely make it again! The filling was still very tasty. Thank you! Z
Very well presented. You are an excellent presenter. I wish I was your student to be quite honest, I am planning to enter baking school next month. This video was simple yet inspiring. You make it look easy. Gives me confidence. Thanks heaps!
Thank you! Technically, I am your teacher...haha! And it is as easy as it looks. Best of luck to you on your baking venture. Baking has been my passion since I was a little girl. My family and I opened a bakery and ran it for 10 years. We just sold it last year and now I'm teaching here and on my website. I'm so glad that you benefit from these recipes. All the best!! Dimitra
I discovered my neighbor has a mackintosh apple tree.. His wife died two months ago and was sad. I decided to try my first strudel. After looking over several videos, yours was the most attractive. I made it and he said it was the best he had ever had. It was fab for my first. My only down side in mine was, there was that infamous hole. Where did I go wrong? Should I slit my braids ? There were no openings in mine.
What a great, simple dessert. I feel like from start to finish this can be done in an hour! (after defrosting your puff, if frozen) So a 2-pack box of puff pastry will make one braid?
Hello Dimitra! Is it possible for you to link your stainless steel large saucepan you are using in this video? Thank you for all of your wonderful recipes and easy to follow how to videos! I love all of them! Πολλές ευλογίες Lorraine
Hi! Love how simple this recipe is, just wondering if the frozen strudel is baked for 25 minutes from frozen or do you have to defrost it first? Thanks :)
Hi! The frozen strudel will take much longer to bake. Between 45 mins to an hour. It’s better to bake it frozen than to thaw it. Once it’s golden and puffed, it’s ready :) enjoy!!
I watched this video because I wanted to learn how to "braid" the puff pastry...but unfortunately you skipped over how to START the braid at 4:58. I understand to alternate, but I wanted to know if there are any tips on starting the braid so the apple and sauce does not leak out.
A coworker gave us a large bag of apples, three varieties. I cooked them according to your recipe and used Pepperidge Farm puff pastry sheets. Using white sugar and light brown sugar the first batch was too sweet for me and omitted the white sugar with the other batches. The finished braids were excellent, my wife said they looked and tasted like they came from a bakery! My question is why do you list brown sugar and white sugar?
I love salted butter too! It's not too salty here in the states however, overseas it tends to be extra salty. That's why I recommend unsalted. You can control the flavor better that way :)
I find the raisins lose the apple taste, also I'm intolerant to dried fruit unless it's in a Christmas pudding or cake when the dried fruit is soaked up in rum or brandy.
Every single dish she explains so calmly and confidently. She makes me feel like a more confident cook!!

Hahah!! I have a similar story except, I added teaspoons of salt instead of sugar in tea...LOL!! live and learn..
So glad you enjoyed this pastry!
When you freeze it and you’re ready to cook it do you defrost it first or just bake frozen ? Thank you for your wonderful videos ❤

Love your videos!
How many sheet of puffed pastry did you use for each apple strudel?
Excellent 👍🏻

I love watching your videos. Unfortunately, I can't make the recipes. I have blood sugar challenges. Ir would be great to see you make a low carb meal
You could use a sugar substitute. They also have brown sugar substitute as well.
Thank you Dimi, That was sweet!(Pun not intended) I've subscribed! God bless!
If you freeze the extra one, when you are ready to use it, does it need to be defrosted first? Or bake frozen ty

Georgeanne Panos a 2-pack makes 2 braids :-)
Where are the ingredients measuring

Could a person add a little cream cheese inside?
Recipe please.
I need some apples to make this delicious Apple Strudel :)
Should I use pillsbury puff pastry or pillsbury pie crust? Thank you
Puff pastry
Hi! Salted or Unsalted Butter??

@@DimitrasDishes thanks so much! I can't wait to make this :)
What are the measurements for the cinnamon and brown sugar ?
www.dimitrasdishes.com/apple-strudel-puff-pastry-braid/
Would it be a good idea to sprinkle the apple slices with some fresh lemon juice so they don’t turn brown? 🍏 🍋
Sure! I've never had that happen and since the sauce is almost like a caramel, It doesn't matter, but lemon adds a lovely freshness so, go for it :)
Tvm so good

You cut two slits at the top and fold it over. It says it in the video! Goodluck
Looks great but why are the measurements???
Top tip: add the filling first then cut the pastry, makes a tighter package :)
The video says bake 25 minutes but the written recipe say 45-50 min. ???

Is that egg wash necessary, I'm vegetarian so can't use it, is there any substitute to it?
No, you can leave it out. You can brush some vegetable oil on top :)
@@DimitrasDishes thank you so much!
I would make apple strudel without raisins, sultanas or currants.
Salted butter is better for this recipe.

No problem. You can leave them out and it will still be delicious. This apple filling is so tasty!
If my baseline point of reference is those Hostess Fruit Pies, any effort should be an improvement.
