I wish I had known this earlier but at least I have been on the right path for the past year. I was forced to stop Prolia injections a year ago, my teeth have become rotten inside according to my latest x-rays taken at my University Dental School Clinic. Meaning it's pointless constantly doing fillings because underneath the fillings are mush. I started taking D3 @ 5,000iu daily in February 2020 which has given me a 120/126 nmol/L, then I added magnesium and had just found my way to K2. I refused the 2021 protocol due to my medical conditions which all involve my musculoskeletal system, even though I have been refused a medical exemption. I am 70 and told my bones were twice my age at 46 when bilateral total knee replacements were necessary. My lumbar 1 to 4 spine and a fine fracture to my sacrum, were damaged badly due to a fall along with a T12 compression fracture in 2005. Plus I have also had a distal femur fracture in 2017. My shoulders are constantly crunching and cracking with use of my arms. Now I will attempt to source KoACT, thank you. My GP is fretting as she wants me back on Prolia asap. Well now she has two chances of that happening, buckles and none. I am mad about my teeth, even though they weren't perfect I was regularly complimented on them and my smile. I had been asking my regular Dentist if the Prolia had been causing the white mottling on my teeth and was told no, it's not from medication but never said what had been causing it.
I am a 73-year-old Holistic Nurse Health Coach who teaches Yoga for Osteoporosis in 2 Retirement Communities. All of us are post-menopausal and have either osteopenia or osteoporosis. All of us are taking Vitamin D3 but are not taking K2. My scope of practice as a Certified Functional Nutrition Informed Professional includes this input from fellow-healthcare professionals. Your video has been shared to my Yoga tribes on our private Facebook Community and now everyone is adding Vitamin K2 to their D3 after talking to their Healthcare Professionals. Thank you so much for presenting this valuable information in terms that my fellow seniors can interpret. Namaste!
Nice my mom reversed her osteopenia at age 80! So it is possible to improve at any age. She takes k2 and also uses comphrey ointment on her bones and joints. She does a lot she studied nutrition in the 80s ao she has a lot of herbs and foods she eats too.
I was put on Lupron for my cancer. Lupron can cause bone density loss. A bone density scan was done after 6 months on Lupron (a hideous horrible hormone blocker) and it showed early signs of osteopenia. My oncologist told me it could not be reversed but taking a calcium supplement would help so I bought a bottle of your run of the mill pharmacy store calcium supplement. Because I am always on YT watching health related videos I eventually saw videos saying calcium supplements are trash and could cause calcification of the arteries so I threw them away. Those basic calcium supps don't get absorbed into the bones. They just build up in your arteries and could eventually calcify. How these supps can be sold willy nilly to millions of people is frightening. Your basic PA or family medicine Dr doesn't even know this. Eventually I saw a YT video that say that K2 was recommended. I was already on D3 and magnesium so I feel like I have all the bases covered now. When I told my oncologist I was not taking calcium supps she just giggled a said yeah maybe drink some milk. It was sickening to think she didn't know or care that her advice about taking calcium supps was trash. Anyway I now drink 8oz of whole milk 3-4 times a week. BTW do not take magnesium oxide. It is not absorbed very well but shockingly it's the most widely sold magnesium supplement. Do a YT deep dive on the different types of magnesium and find the one that fits your needs. Since I am low on energy from my cancer hormone treatment I went with magnesium malate. It's supposed to help with energy production, specifically ATP. Thank your for reading this far. I hope it helps.
@wildBillhabiki...try k2 mk7 in combination with your vitamin D and Magnesium. It will help with proper absorption of calcium and will not calcify your arteries. It will send the calcium where if needs to go, into your bones and teeth, nail, skin, etc.. Stay well! Don't buy one that has both vit D and mk7 unless you have you have a good brand. Try to find one on it's own. Maybe from the same company you get your other vitamins. Hope that helps
You’re exactly right my doc said double your calcium….but I research and found the same thing from almost all of my osteoporosis research. Don’t take calcium! Yes to K2, magnesium and boron. Calcium in the bloodstream can cause blockages and heart attacks. Throw away your calcium and show you doc the research. They are clueless to nutrition! They don’t teach it in the big pharma med schools today. I know it for a fact. Maybe a brief mention….it doesn’t make big pharma money. Do your own research! It’s out there!
Yesterday I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis. For years I have taken hefty doses of Vitamin D3+K2, magnesium, plus potassium……yet I still developed it. Not sure what to do. Have followed Dr. Berry’s advice.
May I ask what dosage and brand are you taking vit k2, magnesium and d3? I am being diagnosed with osteoporosis with T-score of -3.4. I watch the videos on KoAct but with so much information out there, it is confusing and not sure exactly what to combine to take. Your help is much appreciated. Thanks
@@AngieBabe-km4cr Angie, may I step in ? A week ago I watched a video by Dr. Berg saying that vitamin K2 actually needs to be taken in a much stronger dosage. There is one tiny problem I have encountered that I can’t solve. Anyway, online all that is typically sold is in mcg’s, but Dr. Berg says it ought to be taken in 45 “ MG “. I found it sold by Life Extension. HOWEVER, instead of being sold in the MK7 form that is recommended for K2, all that they sell is in the MK4 form. In phoning Dr. Berg’s office, the lady there says that the MK4 form is just shorter acting. So, if YOU locate it in the MK7 form, I will be grateful if you will let me know ! Now, on Life Extension’s bottle it says “ 45,000 mcg’s “ which IS “ 45 MG “. I recently was also diagnosed with Osteoporosis as well. I take the K2……D3……and also take Strontium. Hope this helps.❤️

After my diagnosis of Osteopinia and Osteoporosis, I asked my primary dr if K2 would help, and she told me, no! She told me to take 1200 mg of calcium, Vitamin D and weight bearing exercises! However she did offer the nasty meds that give you all kinds of nasty side effects! Im very happy i found you!
I could not take the prescribed meds for my osteopenia. The only reason I know about the correct supplements to begin with was from taking a continuing education course for my nursing license on using food as medicine as part of my Functional Nutrition health coach practice. This led me to researching more literature to which most countries have already taken the "bull by the horns" about - except our pharmaceutically driven FDA. Remember that there are nutritional journals as well as finding info on google scholar. Namaste!

Excellent info! So important- thank you! I am 67 and getting great results getting my bone density improved with Prolia injections, calcium citrate, magnesium glycinate (and threonate), vitamin K2 (MK-7) and a good quality vitamin D3. I walk every day. I love to sleep. 😄 I have some mild osteoarthritis pain, but I take turmeric with good results. I learn healthy tips from you, and it improves the quality of my life. Thank you for covering a nice wide range of subjects. I appreciate all your hard work getting health information out to us!
In reguards to the D3, Calcium, Magnesium and K2, You said you we're going to give a simple easy plan that you follow yourself at the end (approx at the 12:34 time stamp) Where is that please? I just find watching multipule videos & trying to figure it all out confusing. Thanks!
Wow, I enjoyed this information but I, and others comment never finding the promised list of nutritional and supplements recommendations. A lot of talk in Magnesium and no refernce in die? Source is variable as there are many types…. Please supply the helpful lists please…… and thank you!
Calcium 1gram D3 cal to bloodstream K2 put calcium to bone Magnesium Strength training (work your muscles. Take walks) Cardio Food Supplements Sleeping ( enough sleep)
Good abbreviated list of needs for building bone health. Be careful with calcium supplements by checking your calcium levels via a metabolic blood test. That is a high dose of calcium. Even though you are taking the D3 K2-M7 and Magnesium the doses need to be balanced for your individual needs. Check with a Pharmacist or Functional Nutrition specialist like an ND, or an ND who is an MD. Namaste!
100% correct, its one of the most important things. I personally rarely if ever get sick since I started getting the proper amounts. I used to be sick all the time!
My doctor told me to get off D3. My score was 106 which is high but I have 2 autoimmune diseases and I was feeling great most of the time. I really hate no longer taking D3.
Can you please tell us the two markers that measured the osteoclast and osteoblast levels used in the study. Why aren't these markers used prior to prescribing bisphosphonates? Thank you.
@tfoxen7518 do you really need to ask that question? Why would a doctor tell you that to take something to keep you from getting getting better it keep from getting osteoporosis? Not all doctors are willing.. My doc told me I would have a problem if I took vit k mk7 and was clueless to mk7. He was either clueless or mk7 looking to help. That's why he's no longer my doctor. He a dime a dozen. I'm seeing a different doctor with a different mind set. Plus I take care of myself and my needs. I don't depend on doctors opinions. I have my blood work done and keep an eye an that as well as take what they say with a grain of salt. Do your homework and be self sufficient Good luck!
The tests for these blood markers are not widely done - that is the issue. Much more research needed in this area - it is just sad considering the high percentage of people who have this condition
@@indigosun9891 I'm a researcher, do my 'home work', and am self-sufficient. My concern is that there are no tests to indicate osteoclast activity. Bisphosphonates often cause harm, which can be irreversible.

Really useful vid. I have been on Bisphosphonates for 6 years and now been given a 3 year break but as i do not want to return to them i am looking at alternatives. I have just started to take K2 MK 7 and have been on vit D for years but also increasing magnesium through food. This vid backs up this nicely and explains the science. The real headline for me was the importance of Vit K2 in getting the calcium into the bones and not arteries. When i was diagnosed with osteoporosis i was given vit D, calcium, and a Bisphosphonate. I hated the Bisphosphonate as i sent 3 days with a raging head ache and felt i had flu. There was no mention of K2 MK7 so i wonder why. I shall continue with is this whilst am on 3 year holiday and then see what DEXA scan says. Great Vid.
Measure your blood cbc, creatinine, lipids, sugar, thyrois status etc. If normal, go on taking natural liver, mutton, butter, ghee, milk as calcium and K2. If needed, calcium chloride supplement with MK7 to be added without fear of arterial /vascular calcification as k2 acts as a sweeper, sweeping away ca from arteries into bones. . if blood reported abnormal, take atorvastatin, bp medications. Otherwise, one will land up with IHD, renal failure.
@@carolcole570 yes I will. I have heard that DEXA scans are not that good either. And why do they compare my bone density at 65 with someone at 30. I have a lot of research to do to decide if taking Bisphosphonates is right.

Sorry what do you mean by KoACT? I'm taking levothyroxine as thyroid hormone for 7 years now Would this maintenance drug cause osteoporosis which I have 2019 yet.
I am taking AlgaeCal Plus which has calcium, K2, etc in it. I don't know if it is doing any good. It also has studies behind it. I will see when I do my DEXA scan.
I started taking AlgeaCal plus 5 years ago. My doctor had me on large doses of D only to increase my bones. Zero results. Started my own research and algeaCal has increased my bone density. Now I’m taking his advise on Mg and K2 with D3 taking with fat (tsp of olive oil)….I hope these additions will increase my bone density! I appreciate this DR information!

Talking about menopausal women: I am on HRT and therefore need to be careful about thrombosis. Is vitamin K 2 making the blood thicker? Is K 2 save if you use HRT regarding blood clots?

I took a multivitamin and D3 & K2 and blood tests were toxic levels of vitamin D. Blood test before, after, and during. Painful toxic levels for months.😢
I was diagnosed with osteoporosis in both hips over twenty years ago. I started taking 5000 IUs of Vitamin D3 and Vitamin K2 and, after 20 years, my left hip shows osteopenia and my right hip shows no signs of either osteoporosis or osteopenia. I also walked two or three times a week for several years, but for the last two years, I've increased my activity to include HIIT 3-4 times a week. I have regular blood tests every 6 months and a bone scan every two years. I watch my calcium levels so they don't get too high and periodically specifically test for high vitamin D levels, but so far, I've been within recommended range. As I age, I'm more and more aware of how the needs of our bodies change over time and try to be as vigilant as possible and keep up with the most recent research. Medical advice changes in response to new research so you have to be your own best advocate for your health.

I appreciate this information very much. I'm also a Michigan resident! Can you tell me why when I take vitamin D or any bone supplement with calcium that it causes heart palpitations? I've had AFib and ever since my first episode I can't take any bone supplement without triggering my arrhythmia. I'm trying to figure this out and I know that I've been low in potassium so if I eat a lot of potatoes every day I tend to feel better and don't have the episodes but I don't understand why calcium and vitamin D is a trigger. Thank you very much if you can answer.
Savannah, because of the solid advice from Dr. Ken Berry and of Dr. Eric Berg…….not to take calcium and why, ain’t no way I am touching a calcium supplement. I am currently researching a good collagen, but I daily take D3+K2…..Zinc…..Magnesium…..and Potassium.

I think I’m going to take a Fosamax holiday (i’ve been on it for five years) and start taking a good KoAct supplement. I also drink a collagen powder every morning (good quality type I) but I wonder if I should discontinue taking this since KoAct is also a collagen peptide/chelated? should I discontinue ingesting my collagen powder and simply just take the KoAct Since it shows to have plenty of collagen peptides in it?
I would strongly not recommend changing prescription drugs unless talking to your doctor. This was meant to be an overview of these supplements, to be clear koAct while some small studies are encouraging, these are extremely small ☺️🙏❤️
Mary, how have you been since taking Fosamax? My rheumatologist wants me to start but the side effects terrify me. I have a kidney stone, had a heart attack in 2000, have severe anxiety and suffer from migraine headaches. I see my dentist every 6 months because my teeth are so soft, with lots of old fillings, crowns, a bridge , extractions from abscesses , and root canals. Jaw necrosis is the last thing I need.
Vitamin D3 and K (vit K2 (mk7) The vitamin K also has a another variant as Mk4 and has caused people to blood clotting. I mentioned the most important pertaining to this video You can always look up how many mk2 versions are made.
Be careful to take the correct version of K2.. You don't want blood clotting issues. I know people who want made that mistake and they hand some major clotting issues
Wow, that's helpful. Thanks!! In the video he mentioned he was going to go over which supplements he was taking for kind of a quick guide kind of thing, but I'm not seeing it (so far, but I've just begun looking) Maybe he mentions the K2 advise there? At any rate, thanks for the warning!

I would just like to say that KoAct is not new. I discovered it about 10 years ago and took it for several years. However, it really did not have any effect on my bone density scores, so I stopped taking it. I take some other supplements that my obgyn recommended and they have seemed to keep my score fairly stable to just above or below the -2.5 score for my spine. I refused to take any of the bisphosphonates. I do try to stay active. Wish there was something else.
@@SuperRoxanne7 I've been taking Metagenics Ostera & Bone Builder Prime which were recommended by my gyn several years ago. They have kept my bone density scans in my spine at the -2.5 plus or minus a tenth of point. My hip has maintained osteopenia around -1.8. It's not great, but at least it hasn't progressed even faster. I wish there was something else. Of course, weights bearing exercises should be done. I should do more! It's genetic for me. You know this is the tricky thing about medicine is that I personally would love to order all the tests, but insurances do not approve or cover them (they decide the treatment in a way), should they also not be liable? I think this is the root cause with the system. And the truth is almost 80% of people are vitamin D deficiency as well

Well you know that some people say that milk is not good for building up bones.
Milk is not good for humans, we are not baby cows. Eat lots of leafy greens for calcium!
They do not have all the info. It takes quite a number of nutrients to make bone, so more than just milk is needed.
Thank You. I have osteoporosis and I have been taking, vit K2, Magnesium and D3 for many years as a result of my own research.
Has it helped?
yes, you have to be your own doctor
Yesterday I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis. For years I have taken hefty doses of Vitamin D3+K2, magnesium, plus potassium……yet I still developed it. Not sure what to do. Have followed Dr. Berry’s advice.

I'm trying to figure this out and I know that I've been low in potassium so if I eat a lot of potatoes every day I tend to feel better and don't have the episodes but I don't understand why calcium and vitamin D is a trigger. Thank you very much if you can answer.
Vitamin D helps absorb more calcium, and calcium could potentially create these changes 😊
We appreciate you watching, I hope you are having an amazing start to the new year! 😊🙏❤
chronic diabetes can cause arrhythmias

Savannah, because of the solid advice from Dr. Ken Berry and of Dr. Eric Berg…….not to take calcium and why, ain’t no way I am touching a calcium supplement. I am currently researching a good collagen, but I daily take D3+K2…..Zinc…..Magnesium…..and Potassium.
I already had it when I was younger at the age of 33 years old so what am I supposed to do now?
Never too late, strength training, vitamin d, get sunlight, good sleep and most people do amazing!
Strength training is just soooo effective 🙏❤️
Do you have a recommendation for a good doctor like you in Charlottesville, Va?
I have osteroporios pretty severe prescription drugs. I also have a rare response to collagen . specialist diagnosed it as collagenous colitis. I am afraid to take collagen because of it but my osteroporious keeps getting worse without improvements with
To followup on my previous answer, always check with your personal doctor regarding collagen there are many different types and options of one does not work 😊🙏❤️
Anyone know about teriparatide daily injections?
I think I’m going to take a Fosamax holiday (i’ve been on it for five years) and start taking a good KoAct supplement. I also drink a collagen powder every morning (good quality type I) but I wonder if I should discontinue taking this since KoAct is also a collagen peptide/chelated? should I discontinue ingesting my collagen powder and simply just take the KoAct
Since it shows to have plenty of collagen peptides in it?
@@sharongauss9298I agree with you, Sharon. I am going natural with mine.
Just 4 capsules of the Life Extension Bone Strength per day? No other calcium is needed? I also take Lactoferrin and K, D, magnesium etc.,
Vitamin D3 and K (vit K2 (mk7)
The vitamin K also has a another variant as Mk4 and has caused people to blood clotting.
Mk7 directs the all calcium to where it's necessary, in your bones to prevent osteoporosis. teeth es well.
He just failed to mention which version of K2 and it's 3 different variants. I mentioned the most important pertaining to this video
You can always look up how many mk2 versions are made.
Get K from animal foods
Comes in the right form 🙂

After a spine fracture due to severe osteoporosis, took Evenity - regained 16% of BMD in one year. Don’t ignore or think supplements will do it.
Wow amazing, that is great feedback. Has is your spine doing now?
What is Evenity?
Been on actonel for 5 years. How do i go off it?
No one is saying to go off of anything, these are just other options ❤️🙏😊
For specific medications always talk with your prescribing doctor ❤️
I would just like to say that KoAct is not new. I discovered it about 10 years ago and took it for several years. However, it really did not have any effect on my bone density scores, so I stopped taking it. I take some other supplements that my obgyn recommended and they have seemed to keep my score fairly stable to just above or below the -2.5 score for my spine. I refused to take any of the bisphosphonates. I do try to stay active. Wish there was something else.
What do you take now?
@@SuperRoxanne7 I've been taking Metagenics Ostera & Bone Builder Prime which were recommended by my gyn several years ago. They have kept my bone density scans in my spine at the -2.5 plus or minus a tenth of point. My hip has maintained osteopenia around -1.8. It's not great, but at least it hasn't progressed even faster. I wish there was something else. Of course, weights bearing exercises should be done. I should do more! It's genetic for me. My mom had terrible osteoporosis.
Bravo 👏 and thank you so much for this information…! So many people want $8000.00 just to help us know more about how to help our bones. You’re the best and we appreciate YOU for helping us. ⚔️❤️😃👏😂
Coact? What’s that
Thank God, I canceled the Prolea injections, and or the weekly pills....... I am starting on an MDCALCIUM. which contains all the needed k4 vitamin. Plus 4 others that eliminates the calcium depositing in the arteries, and other issues that can be be dangerous... Vit D .. I was over the top on calcium last labs in Sept. Taking less.... looking fwd to the supplement in one capsule.. easy to swallow. ...t u on the video. I have had but a little on collagen......I have taken magnesium..I prefer the liquid. I also small size pills, I prefer capsules... . My fibromylagia has caused throat spasms and its awful!! Spasms happen elsewhere.
Over the top on VITAMIN D. NOT CALCIUM. I was told to eat certain cheeses other foods that comply w.increasing bone mass..
Interesting on function of parathyroid....
Great great video once again ❤

Has anyone tried KoACT?
Hi, just found your channel and subbed. Will look forward to going thru your content Dr. May I ask something - I've been chewing xylitol gum quite often, at least 3 times a day after meal in order to prevent cavities, and that will be a lot of gum over months, years for the rest of my lifespan. These gums unfortunately have calcium carbonate in them. Will chewing gum that has calcium carbonate in them increase the risk factor for calcification in my arteries and soft tissues? Hope to hear your kind thoughts.
Ewwwww……you just scared the liver outa me about the Xylitol gum. I do not want to be taking any added calcium, so will definitely research this. Thank you !
@@carolcole570 i am scared too! If you find anything worthwhile, do come back and share if you can. Since the time i posted this question, i've found PUR xylitol gum that does not contain any calcium carbonate. And Zellies. Other than that, everything else i've come across seems to incorporate calcium carbonate. They say it helps keep the gums looking white. Hope this helps.

What about Vit D being a synthetic hormone?

They should be testing women sooner than 65 or menopause
You are absolutely correct. Women-focused medical studies in the past were of secondary importance. At present, women's representation in studies improved greatly and I hope it will get better. Thank you for supporting us! 😊❤🙏

Thank you for being such a great fan; we appreciate you watching!
All the best to you!
Decent video but over simplified the studies. First study compares bone strength to density. Not the same thing. apples and oranges. Then he never says what kind of calcium they used. Total difference between organic and inorganic calcium.
I have been accused of already making these videos too long, but I would gladly go into more detail with more interest 😀

Estrogen is what is missing and why women 1 and 3 become osteoporosis and also it's huge business in the United States 50 billion dollar business to get you onto a osteoporosis pharmaceutical.
Too much supplement recommendation rather than talking about real food that will help in an equivalent way
I try to emphasize that food > supplements all the time.i usually summarize it that way at the end of every video
Porque la pagarán los laboratorios 💲💵
when you go for your annual physical and your doctor says your tests come out good, only to find you have had low vitamin D for years and hes not recognizing that, he should be held accountable, now have osteoporosis
You know this is the tricky thing about medicine is that I personally would love to order all the tests, but insurances do not approve or cover them (they decide the treatment in a way), should they also not be liable? I think this is the root cause with the system. And the truth is almost 80% of people are vitamin D deficiency as well
