    Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt video. As someone who works in higher education, I can honestly say that going to college (especially right after high school) is NOT always the best choice for everyone. Taking time to figure out who you want to become (especially outside of school) is a huge milestone for people that is often overlooked. Also, celebrating the little things is so important! Please be kind to yourself and take the time you need to recuperate.

      people are so lucky to have you as a part of their educational system. There weren’t much people who questions the status quo or think like “only you know what works for you” when I was in school. so thank you for understanding and for working in education!

    It sounds like depression. I feel you and I am sorry. You need a professional help, medicines et al. Don't struggle alone, please. It can get much worse.

      all the sad feelings and worries went away as soon as I got my period so I’m 99% certain that it was pms messing with my mind. I’m gonna see a gynecologist first. thank you!

    I can tell that you are so strong. You will get through this tough time. It’s ok to feel how you do. Take good care of yourself, be kind and gentle to yourself. You don’t need to be who people think you should be, be the person that you enjoy being. someone once told me depressed stands for deep rest, it’s your body’s way of saying that you need to rest and recharge. You will come back happier with a new outlook on life. Reach out to people that care about you, you don’t have to go through this alone. Our society is structured so that we don’t allow ourselves the rest that we need, and it’s unnatural. Especially in the winter, it’s time to rest our bodies and minds, thats the natural cycle of things. Please take care and reach out to someone, a friend or relative, or a professional if you would like to.

    I'm sorry you've been through such hard meltdown. Even if it has a reason, when you are living it, it feels awful. I have been having meltdowns since 11 or so... and I'm through a rough phase since the last day of 2023. I also need time for myself after days of meetings, and this time it literally came with sickness so that made me even more sad XD. I think some of us, we tend to think that we had it clearer when we were youngers, but I'm growing, older than you, and now I think we just reflect more and understand more things, and c'mon, life it's not easy, so knowing that we have more worries and fears and also we get more tired. I'm not sure things happen for a reason, but I do think that the same as meltdown comes, good moments come. As I have been in a deep hole before, I have certainty that I can feel well again, and feel enthusiastic about things again. It's important to take some rest and then x day tell yourself: "I'm gonna do things, even if it doesn't give me emotion, but with practice, vivacity comes again. It always does, I'm sure. Also, we are living with so much propaganda and pressure about being someone, about being succesful and take profit of your hobbies, about being happy and everything has to be WOW! And life it's not always like that. It doesn't mean we are not having a meaningful life, we are just living, and that's great already, cause although there's bad moments, we still have the opportunity to live (what it is "to live", everyone of us has to keep defining that concept, and enjoy the moments we are chasing it) Sending so much love, i hope you feel excited for coffe, breakfast or wathever becomes important to you soon!

    Thank you for posting. I also get pretty wiped out after traveling and seeing loved ones. I think it is because of being an introvert. It is huge that you got up and cleaned and made tea. Like Thich Nhat Hanh said “This spot where you sit is your own spot. It is on this very spot and in this very moment that you can become enlightened.” (Miracle of Mindfulness pg. 36).

    Mai, thank you so much for this video, your honesty and vulnerability are so precious. As a 21 year old introvert who decided not to go to college and doesn’t have a regular job, I feel so much of this too. I have two medical conditions that mean sometimes I don’t do in a day the amount others, or fulfill as many things on my to-do list, or work as much. The world and even our own minds makes us feel ‘guilty’ for not doing things ‘normally’, and this reminder was so needed. It’s okay to run the race your own pace, it’s okay to be different and need different things, that’s the way we were made. 🙌🏻❤️

    • @maitoyokawa
      @maitoyokawa  5 месяцев назад

      it’s really hard to chase for what is not considered “normal.” there are not much resources, a lot of people question your choices, etc. You’re not alone. we’ve got this 🫶🏻

    I feel this… Sending you a big warm internet hug 🥺
    That was a beautiful quote on the sticky note and definitely one worth remembering. I think it’s also important to listen to our body when we might need some extra time to rest - both physically and mentally. Be kind to yourself. It’s ok and it will be ok. ❤ And it’s also winter.. most of nature is also resting.
    I hope you are feeling better and adding a little bit more sunshine day by day 😌

    My dear dear Mai I am late to this video because I too got an awful meltdown and the thing is I don't know what caused it. I guess it is January as the month itself because every January I hit rock bottom. I should be happy because I'm spending my days with two cats, but I don't know, I am not. All of this is to tell you that I am feeling what you are feeling and if you need someone to talk to... you can send me messages... I have trouble sleeping so, don't worry about that. I'm here for you

Thank you for being my life encouragement me today to change my day little more than yesterday (and my 2 years of wasted 🥹) and somehow miracle your notification video appear in morning my time area, so yeah I will do like you do to change little bit until we change lot!
