    CF-7s, GP-9s and GP-38-2s -- all incredible workhorses. This road either has good taste or good luck in what they were able to acquire.

    At least they got air conditioning with the new motors. Always a welcome improvement in a Louisiana summer!

    Great chase of the DSR Bishop, bud! It was surprising to see 2 Ex-NS units on the line. I saw these guys before they had the DSR logo. Glad you got to capture them because I was there earlier trying to get them. I know 5523 has a P5 & 5522 has a Raised Letter K5LA.

    Think about this....the very track you see in this video used to host a high speed passenger train operated by the Missouri Pacific. It was called "the Delta Eagle", and it ran from Tallulah to St. Louis, MO.
    My how times have changed!

    • @LouisianaRailProductions
      @LouisianaRailProductions  3 года назад +2

      I completely forgot about the Delta Eagle. I think it was actually Memphis to Tallulah, but it's been so long since I've researched it. Really find it's power to be the most interesting thing. Half E unit/half baggage car. Pretty unique I'd say.

      @@LouisianaRailProductions Oooops....Memphis, not St. Louis. And I found the Wiki article about the half E6/half baggage car: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/EMC_AA

      After seeing the full length of the line and the condition I'm thinking they should suck it up and start from scratch. I understand there's no need for a grade-A roadbed but when you see some of the dips it makes you wonder if they get hazard pay.

    • @killersopinion1829
      @killersopinion1829 3 года назад +1

      @@norbertdx As a (shortline) railroader myself, anything less than "grade-A" roadbed is uncivilized. Nothing makes you eat a seat cushion in reverse order faster than hitting a dip in the track.
      I first drove alongside the DSRR when I was in college in the mid 90s. I got to some spot where the mainline was west of US 65. And right there, without warning or fanfare, was a Railbox boxcar laid over on its side in the middle of a cotton field. Nothing & no one else was around it. It's like they turned it over & kept going.

    Great video. Since the mid 90s I fell in love with Cajun food, the music and wanted to see those areas of LA, so when I see that you've released a new video, I'm on it! Do you have any videos shot in the heart of Cajun country? Then the LTEX 1597s sister, RSSX 1590 is working on the former Kennecott Copper (Utah) property. It also sports those exhaust ports seen on the 1597, like the 1590, they're something else.

      I currently haven't gone down to south Louisiana for train shenanigans. There's really not a lot of things attracting me to go down. I may be in NOLA for the Big Boy, but I'm not sure yet. Also want to shoot the NOPB and 745 (if it's overhaul is complete).

    Great video LRP especially w the new DSR GP38'S! They're one of my favorite locomotives. If you have any pics of them would you be willing to send me one to add to my railroad room I'm creating in our new home? Only reason I ask is because I'm a disabled Delawarian due to a hereditary nerve disease. I'll frame the picture and hang it with the others that RUclipsrs have sent me.

      The North Louisiana & Arkansas Railroad owns the section from McGehee to Lake Village with the Lake Village to Lake Providence section leased to the NL&A by the Southeast Arkansas Development District (SEADD) and the Lake Providence Port Commission. Rehab work has just started on this line as part of a $10.516 million infrastructure rehabilitation act that was awarded to the owners. Rehab work has just started in McGehee.
