    Man!!!!! ...That brought back a lot of memories of my days growing up as a boy in Jonesboro... played along those tracks by the Jonesboro City Hall when I was 8 yrs old!!! (put pennies on the tracks to be flattened by the box cars in the spur when they would switch) It was there that I met a great man, Mr. Arley Overstreet, from El Dorado AR...Rock Island conductor, who was kind to me, but very cautious in his admonitions to me to "be careful" beside those tracks!!! I "kept up" with Arley until he passed away several years ago. I can almost bet you that those rails are much older than me... 75 this year... thus the "slow order" on all of those tracks. This video "took me back in time!!".....THANKS!!!!

    Been along side of the line from Hodge to Winfield several times. Never knew it was CRIP. Crazy to think at one time we could watch the RI cross the IC at Ruston.

    I can hear their horns from my office in the courthouse in Winnfield. I do miss the days of the KCS Carla Dodger coming to Winnfield from Latanier.

    I recognize that crossing at 06:40. It’s where I caught the LAS few years ago when they had the GP38-3 4007 (former CN GP40-2WL) as the power.

    Thanks again for another outstanding video! And thanks for sharing the historical information regarding the GM&O GP-35R. Bring in that neck of the woods, spent many an hour watching the GP-35's and the GP-30's with their alco trucks. It is a shame that there are too many more left in that configuration. Once again, thanks for sharing.

    • @ronnievail1856

      That would be correct... I used to generate the workorders for that facility (and the glue plant!) for the KCS in the Shreveport Service Center before I retired in 2016. And of course, I talked to the folks at the Hodge paper mill almost daily!

    Some of that track looks like it could use a little TLC. Your sound equipment is great...I was clearly able to audibly ID a white-eyed vireo 🙂

      Believe it or not, many miles of rail have been replaced from Gibsland south. Pulled up very old 90# rail, replaced it with brand new (2016 forge) 115# jointed rail.

    I wonder if they will start running jobs to Pineville again with a biofuel plant suppose to open where the old paper mill was in 2028

    • @killersopinion1829
      @killersopinion1829 6 месяцев назад +2

      It will be served by CPKC out of Latanier yard. The diamond across the UP at Tioga was pulled up by LAS a few years ago. The wye that served the old paper mill was south of that.

    Gibbs was the original name of the land owner who the Vicksburg Shreveport & Pacific RR had to get permission from to cross his land. Both the L&NW and VS&P (later IC) spelled the name of the town "Gibbsland". However, when the US Postal Service established a post office, they dropped a "b" in error. The protests from the railroads fell on deaf ears, and the town's name officially became "Gibsland."
