Nice collection of memories you’ve posted. Hired out on the LAJ (Losers And Junkies) in 1993. A few years down the tracks and Tommy Purscelly (Engineer), Big John Prenatt (Conductor) and myself, ran a weekend Extra (Extree) and moved more cars (spotting & pulling) in a single shift than any crew in LAJ history. Dropping, kicking and gravity moving cars across the entire railroad. It was three-men who took their jobs and living life to the fullest, seriously. I’ll never forget those days, and 30-years on, I’m still railroading in the Pacific Northwest…
@@LARailProductions Truly, it was the greatest place to learn how to railroad. The stories are endless, and all of them true, and no place can ever replace the nights spent at the C-yard shack - building fires in the 55 gallon drum out of creosote ties - sipping freshly made hot coffee from your cup. We were renegades from a bygone era, but we had our reasons…
Fascinating. I wonder how many cars and trucks have been struck over the decades (?). Anyway, thank you posting this. There's something fascinating about those old industrial areas south of downtown L.A. I guess because it's so out-of-sync of our images of Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Echo Park, Silver Lake, Marina del Rey, Venice Beach, etc., etc.
This was awesome, I love it! You don't see this type of railroading that much anymore. I suppose General Mills could be getting flour, corn, sugar or anything in them various Hoppers? Very cool and thank you for taking us along.
An amazing testament to the old ways. These 40 year old locos have no burned doors or replaced panels. Other than grafiti and a hideous re-letter, they are in great shape.
Yes I agree with you, I hate graffiti especially on these classic locomotives. Don't the clowns who do this crap have anything better to do with their rotten lives???
Where could I find information on specific crossings in Los Angeles, city of mainly, and if they still get train traffic at all or are abandoned. The ones I’m thinking of have waaaay older styled cantilevers on the crossings.
I have a question for rail fans. It seems I never see graffiti covering the rail car safety info, serial numbers, gross weight etc. Do the taggers stay off that area or does the RR have to constantly clean and repaint that info on the cars?
Are the General Mills grain towers still in operation, and rail served? I think the address is 4898 Maywood Ave, Vernon, CA. Asking because I am thinking of modeling a small industrial section of the Greater LA area in HO scale. Your videos are always appreciated.
The horn sounds like metrolink and nice video my man !
Thanks!
@@LARailProductions 😁
Los Angeles Junction Railway keeps catching my attention because I love it . Good video!
Thanks!
Love this. Thanks for documenting the rail activity in this area.
Glad you enjoyed!
WOW! Incredible Footage of 160! Glad we can view this now.
Thanks!

Agreed. Thank you!
Awesome catch! That is so cool to see two SF units still in service!
Thanks!
You know those tracks pretty well. I get lost below Hobart
Congratulations on catching 2 of the train engines in the old paint scheme man! Not everyone can do that! SO RARE ;)
Thanks!
I have some videos of them as well, but in Escondido, CA.
They send them to Barstow.
I love how the people driving can obviously hear and see the train coming and they still drove across the tracks
Gotta love these SoCal drivers that are in a rush
They aren't in a rush, they are peak STUPID
I've been listening to that whistle for 37 years as a conductor in So CaL (including LAJ)so I had to 'Bail' at 3:35
East coast dude here, thanks for the video very cool.
Thanks!
Sounded like metrolink I ain't the only one saying that but pretty rare catch
Very enjoyable….palm trees and industry in the sunset.
Thanks!
These units used to pull hot shots and now look at them. I'm glad they are still in their blue and yellow paint.
Very cool, will have to duplicate this on the layout.

That horn sounds awesome, great vid!
Thanks!
I've DEFINITELY seen this team working off the side of the 710 freeway!
GOOD VIDEO
Thanks!
Great video well done!

Nice video !
Thanks!
Happy birthday Santa Fe and BNSF all the way!😊❤
Great catch!
Thanks!
Great Santa Fe, ALL THE WAY! I am happy that BNSF kept the classic Santa Fe lettering. I hear that train-a-coming! Y-VRN227 is BUSY!
hahahaa. BNSF kept the lettering because they can't be arsed to actually spend money on locomotive upkeep. Such a shame, too.
Good Video I really enjoyed it
great vid, thanks for sharing!
No problem!
Awesome
Thanks!
I like train videos on RUclips 👍
I love the Santa Fe!! I wonder if those signals are ATSF installs?
They are
Beautiful downtown Vernon😵
Not that it would really make a difference--but bringing back gates would prevent the numerous near-misses with the speeding cars.
Nice work! Where is that diamond located that had the grade crossing next to it early in video ?
Thanks! Downey Rd/Charter St
King of the rails at one time
I love old EMD units but it is such a shame to see all the vandalism, i.e. graffiti.
Yes I agree with you, I hate graffiti especially on these classic locomotives. Don't the clowns who do this crap have anything better to do with their rotten lives???
No it’s actually nice to see it too. The benefits of not being a manchild or a republican.
Where could I find information on specific crossings in Los Angeles, city of mainly, and if they still get train traffic at all or are abandoned. The ones I’m thinking of have waaaay older styled cantilevers on the crossings.
On 0:11 sounds like Metrolink f59phi p2 horn!
Yes it is
It's such a great old pair of locomotives. I love the old company paint Jobs. Too bad about the graffiti.
Sounds like the Old Metrolink Horn my I haven't seen blue and yellow Santa Fe in forever
You know that's something when there is graffiti on the locomotive itself🤣
Real
160 has been around, was in Texas’s time I saw it, and without graffiti
That's neat
I need santa fe to come back.
I have a question for rail fans. It seems I never see graffiti covering the rail car safety info, serial numbers, gross weight etc. Do the taggers stay off that area or does the RR have to constantly clean and repaint that info on the cars?
Great video, do you happen to know the schedules of some locals by chance?
Thanks! This one runs between 3pm and 9pm around the city of Vernon, the other one runs between 5pm and 10pm in Commerce
@@LARailProductions Thank you! I live nearby but never really knew the schedules that well
does the Y-VRN have a known schedule? im curious and wanna catch this
Works around the Vernon area between 3 and 9pm Monday thru Friday
P2 go shhhhhhhaaaaaaaah
pshuuuuuuWAAAAAAAAAAAooowww

Yes, it's still in operation and served by rail.
Thanks so much. Really appreciate that info. 😊😊
@@LARailProductions Appreciate it.
Hermosas maquinas son una reliquia nose quién es el inbecil qué las grafitea 😢
I worked on this industrial spur many times in the past, what a mess.
Nice train video. How long did it take you to edit this train video?
Like 5 minutes
@@LARailProductions Cool.
sounds like a metrolink F59
Since when did BNSF get a P2 horn for 160?
Dang, people don;t wanna stop for trains. that thing will rip a car up ,
Ik, that’s why crossing gates there should be installed
Do you have to have an extra set of eyes in that area.
It's not too bad, I haven't had an issue here
Is this in Vernon? 😊
what does the title say
Bro yes it is, read the title
@@LARailProductionslike for real 😂
Sounds like Caltrain
I wonder if #3189 sounds better #160 sounds horrible.
3189 sounds fantastic
Always interesting to see a couple of people with a death wish. Future Darwin Award nominees!
BNSF
160/3189
This diesel locomotive 🚂 almost sounds like a steam locomotive 🚂
Seems a waste of a lot of horsepower and fuel when old alcos used to do the same job and more volume in the past .
The amount of graffiti on the locomotives is awful. Failing city
Were you just born yesterday? Los Angeles area has been like forever 😂.
What a shame watching five minutes of horn blowing! I would rather watch a graffiti video.
lol okay
great vidya!! love the LASF!!
Thanks!
