      Rip Cameron Boyce If you take an average season of Largent in his prime (1978-1986) , Largent would be averaging 1,150 yards and 9 TDS. In today's NFL those numbers would be worse than Devante Parker's, and he didn't even make the Pro Bowl. Please stop giving him credit because he's old. His numbers are very below average and the fact that he made the NFL 100 Team over Megatron, Julio, and TO is beyond me.

    • @Patrick-tt3ig
      @Patrick-tt3ig 3 года назад +11

      @@alexreis7394 you're an idiot.
      From 1978-1986, Largent had 607 receptions, 9,781 yards, and 73 touchdowns. Let's compare those numbers to THE TIME HE PLAYED:
      Leader in receptions: Largent
      Leader in receiving yards: Largent
      Leader in receiving touchdowns: Largent
      Those numbers don't compare to today, but they were excellent for his time (and still pretty amazing today!!). When Largent retired, he was first in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. He still CURRENTLY ranks top 10 in receiving touchdowns! He retired 30 years ago and nowadays numbers are accumulated like nothing!
      Also, from 2007-2015 Calvin was seventh in receptions, first in yards, and first in touchdowns. Calvin's numbers look better, but was not even as statistically dominant as Largent for his time. Julio is second in receptions, first in yards, and eighth in touchdowns from 2011-2019 and Terrell Owens was fifth in receptions, second in yards, and first in touchdowns from 2000-2008. None of them lead in all three like Largent. Just because they don't have better totals, does NOT MEAN they are better. It's super idiotic and shallow to say that.
      Please be have a little common sense before you try to prove someone wrong with a ridiculously fragile and stupid argument. If I had to guess, you're no older than 20.

    Jerry Rice played in an era where teams still ran the ball ALOT. In an era where defenses could still tee off on the QB and WR down the middle. Head hunters were allowed to do bad things to the offensive players. Post 2000, Qbs, WRs and offenses got soooo much more of an advantage, its almost a different game. Jerry is the GOAT by a mile. He did it in a tougher era.

    • @kangsankim976
      @kangsankim976 4 года назад +4

      SteadyCheetah dude Julio is definitely gonna be a top 5 receiver by the time his career is done. He could have a couple Super Bowl rings by now if the falcons knew how to hold on to a lead. I’m a falcons fan so call me biased but people sleep on him more than u would think. He has broken many records and is on pace for breaking a lot more, and keep in mind he missed 11 games in one season. Not only this, Matt Ryan is different from other quarterbacks he doesn’t target his star receiver every other play. Larry Fitzgerald is a hell of a player and not only did this video put him ahead of Julio, so did the fan rankings. No one knows who will be better when they both finish their careers but I’m banking on Julio

      Yeah your opinion becomes invalid because you’re clearly a fan of the opposing NFC South so you’re gonna say that.... if you actually go to Julio Jones‘s stats he has 12,000 career yards receiving and Calvin Johnson has 11,000 Julio Jones has probably some of the best receiving catches of all time not to mention he’s faster...also Julio Was a Heisman running candidate in college...I’m sorry bud, but Larry Fitzgerald is so unimpressive compared to Julio

    • @aroundonefern

      Mark Curtis by your statement your basically saying Julio is better than Calvin because he 1000 more yards than him and then you’re saying he’s better than Larry Fitz when Larry has 5000 more yards than him and then by your knowledge Odell is the best receiver since he has good catches and John Ross is the best because he has the fastest 40 time

    I agreed with most of your list... however I would only disagree with Larry Fitzgerald at 4. .. I would put him at number 3 over Owens for sure... Think about how scary this is: he has the second most receiving yards all time with a career full of backup quarterbacks throwing to him!! Imagine if he had a Steve Young or a Joe Montana or even a Kurt Warner throwing to him at least most of his career.... He would have obliterated Jerry Rice's numbers. And other than anquan boldin for 3 years, you never had a legitimate number two on the opposite side for any long period of time throughout his career...which means everyone knew he was the only threat on the field as it pertains to the receivers... And he still put up the numbers he put up!! The one-year he had a pro bowl quarterback throwing to him in the playoffs, he only broke multiple playoff receiving records that still stands today on his way to a super bowl... He has the second greatest hands of all-time behind Jerry Rice.. PERIOD!

    I may be biased bc Calvin is my favorite player of all time but I hate all the Calvin hate. When I’m looking at “best receiver of all time” - I’m not looking at the longest career or the highest stats because of long careers. I’m looking for dominance. The player that everyone shakes in their boots to think about guarding..and I think Calvin is so disrespected in that regard. One of the strongest receivers, with some of the best routes and speed, and he was 6’5. If he didn’t retire at 30 just because of health, I think he has potential to be the best receiver to ever grace the game, and if I’m picking a player for an all-time team. The only person I’m thinking about as “unguardable” that’s arguably better than Calvin is Randy moss. Rice had such a long career with crazy stats, Calvin played less than half of that and just watching him you can tell he’s the most dominant player on the field at all times. Not to mention everything he did was on one of the worst franchises in history with a winless season and Matthew Stanford at QB. Compared to Rice and Miss who had Montana, Young, Culpepper, Brady, etc.
    If the dice were rolled calvins way, I think he goes down as the greatest ever

      @@brendanmayhew6280 I think our disagreement comes down to a different school of thought. I think it comes down to the fundamental question of “Why was player x dominant”. Most people who denounce older players say the quality of play was worse which is true. However it is important to ask why was the quality of play worse. While I’m certainty not an expert it is obvious that there are multiple reasons. 1 reason would be that the pool of talent was smaller due to racism, less popularity and less financial incentive. This reason diminishes the legacy of older players. Reason 2 would be that equipment, coaching, rules, dieting etc give players today an advantage over older players. This leads to the conclusion that yes lance alworth and others would be less dominant today but they would have a better environment to increase their potential thus their skillset would be greater.

    Mike quick was just dominant during his time in the nfl and the stats show it he made 5 consecutive Pro Bowls, 2 First-Team All-Pro's, Is one of only 13 wr's in NFL history to have a 99-yard receiving touchdown, held the record for the most receiving yards in a single season for the eagles for decades before it was recently broken by A.J Brown (it was 1,409), he lead the NFL in receiving yards in 1983 (1,409) and finished second in receiving yards with 1,247 yards, Is a inductee in the North Carolina Sports hall of fame, And is also a member of the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of fame, and had a total of 363 receptions, 6,464 receiving yards, and 61 touchdowns during his career
    As for Carmichael what is there not to say he is the indisputable best wr in history of the eagles. Not only was he massive standing at 6'8 - 225 pounds but had the skills to back it up his most notable accomplishments include
    - Winning NFL-Man of The Year (1980)
    - 2 Second-Team All-Pro's (1973, 1979)
    - 4 Pro-Bowl's (1973, 1978, 1979, and 1980)
    - Leader In both Receiving Yards and receptions in 1973 (67 receptions for 1,116 yards thats an 16.7-yard average)
    - Member of the NFL 1970s All-Decade Team
    - Member of the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame
    - Member of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame
    - Member of the Florida Sports Hall of Fame
    - Apart Of the Eagles 75th Anniversary team
    - And finally Harold Carmichael is apart of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2020
    Carmichaels all time stats are, 590 receptions, 8,985 receiving yards, and 79 receiving touchdowns

    There might be a case for Bob Hayes on this list if only because he sort of created the zone defense. I get why there's an impulse to not include him as he had only about 7,500 receiving yards, but then Don Hutson didn't reach 8,000 yards, either. So you can't say Hayes doesn't qualify for this on the basis of career receiving yards.
