Hey man! Congrats on your reviews! Really good content and presented in a very nice way. Very informative. Thanks!
I was wondering about the KLH Audio Kendall showing up behind you. Have you tested it? What are your thoughts on it?

Hey thanks for that and for watching. The unit I received had a smashed in tweeter. So it did not function how it should. But the bass was good and midrange. But treble was messed up

I own those and power them with a very good for the day 80 watt RMS/channel@ 8 ohms Pioneer rack system from the late 70's, early 80's which i love, very warm sounding system for a solid state system. I think they have plenty of bass and the treble is very smooth and are a very balanced speaker. My room is not real large, probably 15' x 15' and they get very loud with this system, very nice sounding speakers. These will go very low but are not woofy at all and have very good clear midrange also, the brass has bite and they're detailed, I'm very happy I bought these.
Funny you mentioned the bass guitar as I am a lifelong pro and semi pro bassist, both electric and upright and incidentally the price for those is almost double what you quoted, I paid $1300.00 for mine here in Peru and they sell for more than that in the U.S. that I've seen anyway, in fact amazon has them at 1495.00 right now.
I put mine in the corners. I also own a Marantz 2385 but I haven't tried these on it yet. I wrote most of this before I listened to the video by the way, we seem to agree (except on music), haha!
Try Procol Harum Live with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra with them, the drums sound like they're right in the room, in fact the whole band does along with the orchestra. Jazz does also sound good with these. I've had mine for 3 to 4 months.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the speaker and what its paired to. And the recommendation for test music. The price quoted at the time of recording was the price per speaker, as it is sold, per 1 speaker. It is not packaged as 2 from the manufacture. If sellers choose to only sell them in pairs that is up to the seller. About 26 years ago I owned a Gibson Flying V Bass. So that instrument stands out to me when listening to speakers.

@@OldtradesReviews Really, I never knew they still sold only one speaker at a time. Gibson Flying V bass, I bet you wish you kept that, they're rare and worth a lot of money now. I own a lot of Gibsons, got the EB-3's, EB-3L, EB4-L Reverse T-Bird, and have a new Non reverse T-Bird on order. I have the Fenders and Rics too but really like the old Gibsons. Ever play through an SVT? I listen to a lot of rock too but I'm older than you.

    Hi there, Great review!
I bought Paradigm Monitor SE8000F (connected to Luxman LV-105 amp from early 90s, 70W, 8~16 ohm) a month ago. They give a great deep solid and full sound by all means with this amp. But at times they sound a little too aggressive or maybe too loud to my ears. So I decided to try on these Monitor Audio Bronze 500. What do you think, will it worth it for the change?

@OldTrades - How would you say the Polk R700's compare to this ? Right now they are on sale and almost the same price. Is the Polk a better buy ? I'm after very articulate mid-bass speakers.

    Thanks for the video!
In Australia the bronze 500 and the wharfdale evo 4.2 cost the same.
These are very different speakers. (Floor stander/bookshelf, smaller drivers, different tweeters)
I want to know your opinion as to what speaker is better value for money?
Do you think the monitors are much more fun?
Do the wharfdales provide much more clarity?
    Thanks!!!

Hi, Your welcome. Thanks for watching the video. I will have a video of the Wharfedale posted this week. If 2 Monitor Bronze are the same price then the Bronze easily wins. Its more clear and much better bass. Monitors better for Home theater as well. as music.

OldTrades, thanks for the review. You mentioned that the highs may be too crisp. I am 51 and hearing in the high frequencies isn't what it used to be (it was great when I was younger). I wanted to ask you if that crisp treble speaker isn't exactly what I need, since what I hear right now is a bit muffled. I currently have a pair of JBL ES80, bought new from the store like 11 years ago. Those Monitor speakers would be an improvement to what I have? Thanks.

    • @OldtradesReviews
      @OldtradesReviews  2 года назад

Hi, I have not listened to those JBL but they are rated to 40khz in the treble. With that said the Bronze may be good for a bit of dulled hearing in the upper range. Will it be better then what you have I do not know. Id suggest buying them at a store with a good return policy. So you can try them on your amp equipment...which can change everything

    • @phaenius

@@OldtradesReviews Thanks for the reply, OldTrades. The speakers I have (the JBLs) have 2 independent tweeters on each channel (they are a 4 way speaker each), with a double woofer, a midfielder, a tweeter and an ultra-tweeter (from 12KHz above). With such dedicated tweeters, are my ears so much out of whack? I should be able to hear high frequencies in the music. I bought the speakers new, from the store and I always listened to low volume, they were not abused at all. About those Monitor speakers, they are a bit under $600 in my country and I can return them, but the cost of returning is quite high, that's why I opted to ask you first. In the end, I probably will try to buy them and if I don't like them, return them. Thanks again.

I've had these speakers for several months now and sadly they are not quite doing it for me. They don't sound full-bodied at all, maybe too sharp and hard?
Two weeks ago I was streaming music with the volume a little higher up and my tweeters blew. I called Audio Advisor (where I purchased them) and I was given a number to call and was told they would ship the parts for me (which they did) but now I have to figure out how to replace them...
I am using the Outlaw Audio rr2160mkii integrated amplifier with the speakers...maybe it's the wrong amp, I don't know? Any insight would be great.

Hello! I really enjoy watching your videos. Specially this one because a couple of years ago I returned a pair of 500's as I was not so surprised with their sound at all. As you said, bass was good but tweeters were bright when I wanted to turn up the volume. I loved their soundstage. Vocal songs where not good performed as well. The amp that I used was a Cambridge AXR100. Since then I paused the project of getting a nice audio system. A dealer from other shop suggested me to try Paradigm's Monitor 8000F as they are 3 way speakers, tweeters are more balanced and they have deeper bass. The thing is that they only sale this model under request so there is no chance to listen them before the purchase. I saw you had already listened and assessed Paradigm's 8000F and I was wondering if you could help me with your impressions and experience with both models. I am looking for a pair of speakers which sound are complete, balanced and makes me feel surprised anytime I want to listen to music, at a reasonable price. Regards and thanks again for your video!

The paradigm is very opposite sounding of the monitor. The paradigm has more bass but is also very warm and more subdued sounding.

@@OldtradesReviews thank you very much for your answer. Which pair of floorstanding speakers do you consider a nice pick without breaking the bank? The problem is not the speakers.
There is a problem with AXR 100. I had this amplifier with Bronze 500 and replaced it with YAMAHA R-N803.
