I remember seeing King and Armor King in Tekken Tag 1 when I was 4 years old. I instantly fell in love with them. That was 22 years ago, and I still love them.
King's always been my boy. Like siegfried in SC, Sagat in SF, and Kabal in MK, King was my intro character to the franchise and I have done everything in my power to make him my main, and he looks INSANE here.

Out all of the fighting game out there, he's by far the scariest grappler, yes even more than Zangief. Even tho you can throw break in this game, guessing kings throw and reacting on it is painful. He isn't slow and he deals shit tons of damage into mixup into more mixup.

King is a clear reference to Tiger Mask, a real Japanese wrestler of the 70’s with a dedicated famous anime. The ending move is a grappling used by the recently passed Antonio Inoki (a friend of Tiger Mask in the anime)
Of the announced roster, we have Jack, Lars, and Jun left. It's generally assumed that Jun will be held for TWT, so that leaves the first two. We'll probably get Jack next, or they go might get wild and release them at the same time.

I'm getting PTSD flashbacks of getting grabbed by King, and getting grabbed by Tina in the DOA games, cause like King taking on Tina meant it wasn't the strikes, or flashy specials that were to be afraid of it was the grapples.
Looks like they're giving King a couple buffs with his armored run and combo-extending grapples. My best guess is they either saw the rise of Lil Majin, or the popularity of King in low ranked games and thought they might try to make him more viable. Of course, that's pure speculation right now, as we're pretty much seeing him in a bubble. The real test of these changes will be in tournaments and online play.

Slow grapplers were a thing of the past. Now, its all about aggressive grapplers that pressure you to read either a strike or command grab.
Tekken grapplers don't need to be slow, because you can step and break throws, so there is no real need to keep them away from you
This is exactly how Terminator is in MK11
These grapplers are getting extra scary
