  • Miracle Fruit, also known as Miracle Berry, is a small tropical fruit shrub native to Ghana. Its small red berries are prized for the effect they have on other foods. The fruit contains miraculin which blocks sour and bitter taste receptors on the tongue. Eat a miracle fruit and everything you eat for a while afterward will be sweet!
Learn more about the fruit, the plant and its uses in this video. Chris even demonstrates how the fruit makes sour taste sweet!

I took some miracle fruit from my local garden center (they’ve never carried this plant before to my knowledge). We just tried your experiment with the lemon and my whole family is just astonished! What a fun little experiment! Just like you described, it had a little tang but tasted like a deliciously sweet orange or such.
I am definitely going back to the garden center and buying the plant. I want my friends at work to experience this cool berry. 😁❤️

It's amazing that you should have a video about miracle fruit. I have been watching and love your mango videos. The amazing thing is that I lived in Tema Ghana for approximately 6 yrs of my life. I lived there with my family when my father worked for Kaiser Aluminum. I was a young teen during this period. The amazing thing is that this is where I fell in love with mangos! Until we moved there, I had never tasted a mango. it quickly became and still is my favorite fruit. They had several different varieties. I liked every single one of them! I am now diving in lock, stock and barrel to trying to grow mangos, and now miracle fruit. Your videos have truly inspired me, I am currently 55yrs old and live in Louisiana, so I guess I got some good mango growing years ahead of me. Thanks again for your videos and inspiration.

I picked up a miracle berry plant in September and It looked great. I live in Vegas and the temperatures got below 40 degrees and I noticed the tips of all the leaves got crispy and brown. I have since pulled it inside and will put it back outside on nice days. What should I do as far as pruning it? Do I just let it be or should I trim it way back?
Thank you for the great videos! By the way I am currently growing a Phoenix and a cotton candy mango that I picked up in September as well.

    • @TrulyTropical

I would just leave the leaves on the plant. The green parts of the leaves are keeping the plant active.

Not really. The idea is to coat your tongue with the miraculin from the miracle fruit and then eat other things you want to taste as sweet. It temporarily changes the way you taste foods. Also, miracle fruit has a rather large seed that wouldn't be great in a bowl of mixed berries.

Yes, you definitely can. However, miracle fruit is a very slow growing plant.

I live in Palm Beach County and we get temperatures as low as 39 some winters. My miracles fruit trees have been growing for years without cold effects. We had a cold spell ten years ago that killed the autograph tree.

Thanks for the vedio, but this cannot be called "All About", cause u didn't mention some most important parts of a plant, such as how to fertilize, how to polinate, how to pest control, how to prepare its soil, especitally it's a acid loving plant.
So pls address these parts next time if you wanna make "All About"

Maggie Wang that is because she wants to be safe. See what happened when Top Chef Homaro Cantu starting talking too loud about it. The sugar lobby is strong.
