Quality and excellence are not forgotten, what wonderful memories. With these melodies, I did schoolwork. Today I am 58 years old, THANK YOU Mark Knopfler and Dire Strites.
This is surely the best version of the tour, and one of the best version of Money For Nothing ever, If not THE greatest ever. Tone is perfect, the energy is all there, the song results to be raw; excellent musicianship, superb arrangement (those brass are fabulous) and the second solo is a masterpiece!
this is so good.....i just learned it on guitar and cannot stop playin it........the groove is so hot, lucky me my first years on guitar was with no pick, so it was kind of easy a bit, but still had to practice cause Mark has a unique touch.........love it and this version, the camera is focussing on the guitar.....
Thank you Mark for your music, your words, the way you can play guitar, your voice and all what you are. You were beside me during the worst moments of my life. Never forget you. Take care of yourself old favorite guitar player.
This video makes me sad. I remember Dire Straits in peak of their career, I remember Brothers In Arms coming out and had it on CD, and I've seen them live in 1992. Mark Knopfler was one of my guitar heroes and it's sad to see him get old (I know, we all get old). I just want to remember him when he was in the peak of his career and was my guitar hero.
With all the hemming and hawing on youtube about how to exactly play money for nothing the way Mark Knoppfler did on the recording, the "I've got it right and you don't" claims and the posturing... Here's Mark himself not even trying to recreate the original recording at all, but still it sounds great. Let this be a lesson to you gatekeepers - It doesn't HAVE to be exactly like the recording to be "correct". The artists themselves don't even bother to try to make them sound exact.
Mark even said he found the album version too clean. Every single live version is different and he has done a lót of concerts. I enjoy all of them. The basics are always the same though, especially the marks unique right hand technique. In my opinion that is the key to getting the sound right.
Mark & the boys sound great here! I remember when this song came out. I was with the 9th Infantry Div. We had been on a deployment for so long we were like "wtf is Mtv?"
He’s dialed it back a bit here so it sounds more like the album… if you listen to how he really plays it nowadays it’s pretty different, loads of nice little touches
Excellent performance captured with high-quality video of the whole performance. MK wails on the solo in the outro portion of the song. The band configuration is a little confusing to me--not sure who some of these folks are, but it's definitely a fuller group than would have been there in the past.
Even on the album, terry only played the intro, the rest of the song was done by Omar Hakim . Terry was or is one hell of a drummer, make no mistake :)
hell yeah - fantastic drum solo followed by the most iconic guitar riff ever - played at full volume - Love MK ❤❤
Quality and excellence are not forgotten, what wonderful memories. With these melodies, I did schoolwork. Today I am 58 years old, THANK YOU Mark Knopfler and Dire Strites.
70 years old. That is what passion does to you, you don't have to keep going, you do it for love and passion! Thank you Mark!
Can't step away from the thrill of performing live in front of thousands of fans. Plus drugs aren't cheap
Best guitar riff of all time
Pode me dizer o nome desse outro guitarrista ai ? Por favor
Absolutely)
its magic
Said the same under another video of that masterpiece
Wow !!!!!! Mister Mark Knopfler and band. Wonderful every performance. Our permanent admiration.
Mark -never did a solo the same way twice in his life- Knopler…still got the chops!..
Them drums at the beginning set the whole thing up.. Simply amazing song
Old dude just tearing it up! He’s still great! All time great!
Who else remembers when this song came out and how it rocked your soul?
Me!! 😃👍
Me. MTV was 4 years old. This video was awesome.
Could imagine the feeling to be honest. Though I was a 96 kid unfortunately. It's a shame to hear about Jack Sonni's recent passing too.
Rocked my Soul, It was my Soul!!! Lol. 🎸🎹🎤😎
This is surely the best version of the tour, and one of the best version of Money For Nothing ever, If not THE greatest ever. Tone is perfect, the energy is all there, the song results to be raw; excellent musicianship, superb arrangement (those brass are fabulous) and the second solo is a masterpiece!
I genuinely think that the versions he played as a whole on this tour are the best he's ever done, DS included. For me anyway
For me the best version, is the version from the On The Night album. It is the most energetic version, but still with that rawness.
live aid was problably their best performance except when sting forgot the lyrics lmfao.
For me he s neveu been better than 2019
Live Aid version is they Best ever for me.
Mark knophler is by far one of the best ever, saw him with Chet Atkins at Bayfront truly amazing
surprisingly good voice considering he's 70 years old! rock on mark!

Mark Knopfler has my endless, constant love
There have been so many great opening riffs to songs but this one seems to be the best one to me.
GOD BLESS YOU MARK... amazing talent. Thanks so much for your music and your songs thats helps so much in our lives, moments, etc...
Young and old, nothing change, Mark will always be Mark, Dire Straits will always be Dire Straits....
Still has his awesome voice 🎤🤓=😎🎸
This is still by far my most favorite guitar riff this intro ❤❤❤
Blasting this through old vintage stereo. Sounds HUGE.
Thanks for sharing this video.
Dear Mark! Congratulations happy birthday!🥳🤩👍 I wish you every day feel happy!
Such incredible tone with such an unorthodox technique. Love it!
Perfect, as always! ❤

Then maybe don’t watch??? Are you getting younger?
Everyone ages my guy..they still rock!
We are not older, we are better😂
I guess you'd rather he be like Jimmy Page and not play at all and be a shut-in dude. We're so lucky to have Mark knopfler. You should check yourself
It’s cool seeing him continue to do it after all these years, it’ll be sad when the videos stop.
I was born to the wrong generation
Great Mark!!!...ageless!!💋
Astonishing!
Simply the greatest
Simplesmente Fantástico. Abraços do Brasil 🇧🇷

It’s not the same amp or pedal either. He can’t exactly recreate the same distortion and effects.
Legendary rift🥺
Knopfler only the best!!!!
Really the BOSS. Unveliable...
Audio is awesome, but video recording is even better!
And you can still recognize his awesome voice 🎤🤓=😎🎸
Rupert Murdoch absolutely smashing it.
Simplesmente fantástico
Espetacular!
Mark & the boys sound great here! I remember when this song came out. I was with the 9th Infantry Div. We had been on a deployment for so long we were like "wtf is Mtv?"
great!!! good things are coming back!!!
Live shows are always transcendent !!!
Still got it
Without a pick too. Awesome
DAMN , KNOPFLER GETTIN UP THERE !
He’s dialed it back a bit here so it sounds more like the album… if you listen to how he really plays it nowadays it’s pretty different, loads of nice little touches
EXCELLENT
one of the cleanest
Very best
No one does the drum intro better then the legend Terry Wiliams from Dire Straits!
oh my... what a tone
No words...
Still got it.👍
Rock and roll del bueno.
Super
Il ruggito del vecchio leone. Grande Mark.
better with age this guy
There will not more songs like 70', 80', 90's. The songs nowadays are just crap.
GREAT🎉

CLASSICA
Wow
Genio
Šta reći "MAJSTORČINA" svog zanata 👍👍👍👏👏👏🎶🎶🎶🤷♂️😲😲😲 EKSTRA, ZA SVA VREMENA 👍👏B R A V O 🙋♂️
cool musik
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🤘🇧🇷
Fear of being cancelled necessitated an edit of the original lyrics
What a fucking wall of sound. Brilliant
Funny, this was a MTV hit at MTV's peak. Time flies. Move over Cable TV, we're on RUclips now. (Love the Dire Straits.)
It´s a good version....but without Terry Williams, it´s not the same
Love Terry Williams - saw him with Man in the early 70s.
This drummer is Ian Thomas
www.ianthomasdrummer.com/biog/
Even on the album, terry only played the intro, the rest of the song was done by Omar Hakim
. Terry was or is one hell of a drummer, make no mistake :)
Che Leone!
Dire Straits e Pink Floyd realmente sabem fazer musicas de qualidade.
”Damn this sounds good” - Mark Knopfler probably
watch at 1.05 X
Sad to see his guitar playing slip a bit. Miss when he was on top of his game. World Aid was an insane performance on his part.
Hey he's pretty good. He should play for Dire Straits. He knows all the notes
😂😂😂
Maldita la guitarra
Where is Terry Williams ........
mark kinda lost his snap here -- but hey - that was 40 years ago, right? --
Whoever filmed this, filmed all the other players the majority if the song, except the Bassist.
