Fallout 4 Settlement Croup Manor + Slight Rant

- So basically I've had a little issue with this area- the corpses of the ghouls respawned unexpectedly and are now stuck in walls and generally being gits.
I decided to go into a little detail of what I'd done in the area (and generally grumble a little) - however if you want to skip to the tour of the exterior, I've provided an annotation to jump to that point (9:51 - if it's not working on your device).
Next Fallout 4 video on Tuesday - which will be the second video on the Castle.

Funny thing here - I slashed a corpse to bits and dropped it off a cliff one piece at a time. After some time, body respawned, same place, same pose...but compiled of pieces I slashed it into. Wow. Dedication to corpse placement, Bethesda. Even if I slash it into pieces you gonna put them back in place.
the ghoul body thing is also a pain in the dick at sunshine tidings co-op.
+Zachary Brooks They never came back for me
This is the reason I never build there.
I put the ghouls in fire barrels.
I've got a living reaver ghoul that spawned outside the house. He wasn't attacking anyone just standing there not doing anything. I decided to keep him and built a whole bar around him a tv and a chair just for him. But yeah the bodies respawn for me too.
I saw him, assumed he was hostile, and headshot him :/
Yeah same. But i ended up shooting him haha
I have no idea why they do this. That dead trader in Kingsport respawns. The dead ghouls here at Croup respawn. The dead original inhabitant of Taffington Boathouse respawns. Even the dead raider and feral dog outside Sanctuary are permanently there. There are a few others. It happens enough where I have to figure they did it on purpose -- but WHY?
You can probably get rid of them with console commands on the PC, although I haven't tried.
Do the console versions do that thing where you can't pick up skeletons? That's seriously annoying.
The unscrappable things that were REALLY annoying me the other day were certain trees and a car at Greygarden which were RIGHT IN MY FUCKING WAY. I mean seriously what the fuck?
Yes the skeletons can't be picked up on consoles either.
That car in grey garden is used by the game show host robot when you chat to him. so I think that's why it can't be scrapped.
Simo I don't think he used it when I first chatted with him -- and certainly not after that -- but I might not be remembering right.
Still, that's no excuse for the trees.
+Lytrigian Same thing for the Atom Cats Garage Gunner corpses. They just won't go away, and now I have a permanent steaming pile of green goo (from a plasma weapon) sitting outside of the entrance. Sure, it's not a workshop settlement, but it sure as hell isn't pretty.
Th3_Shr00m_2001 Among the casualties at my Atom Cats garage is their eyebot, which I gather usually gets creamed during the attack.
I normally skip certain parts of video's, but for some reason you always say something interesting or funny so I watch every second haha, keep on doing what you're doing!
I just realized how fast your channel grew. I've been here since your first 5 vids, and wow have you grown. Congratulations Man!
+SlashingCat Heh cheers - hit 15k subs today :)
+norespawns
Love your building videos, always learn something new, I recently just completely enclosed starlight drive in with the concrete blocks. It's massive, it all snapped together really well.
Absolutely love your videos, one of my fav RUclipsrs, you deserve way more subs and views. Keep it up
always amazing seeing the kind of builds you do
Norespawns keep up the great work man your doing really well for your self
on the topic of scrapping bodies, It would make sense as when settlements are attacked they yield a lot supplies and equipment. I usually scrap everything because most of the tier 3 Raider/Gunner/Super Mutant weapons and armour give a lot of junk, but what i would find interesting is that when you scrap bodies it gives Bone,Abestos,Cloth,Meat (depending on whether or not the body in question are animals or if you have the Cannibal perk) & Nuclear material. love these videos by the way, this partially inspired how i built my Croup Manor keep up the good work!
You hands down are the best fallout settlement maker you do it with out mods too
I solved this problem by turning Croup Manor into an interactive House of Horrors. Ghouls in the ceiling are not only welcome, but encouraged. Just don't look any of the mannequins in the eye.
Genius.
I am having the same problem with the ghouls but at Sunshine Co-op. So annoying!
I've had the same problem, specifically at this location, i also had 3 settlers that got stuck down in the water and could never come back up, so i just stopped building at this place.
The ability to dispose of corpses and shrubbery would be very welcome.
you could use the smaller pieces of wall and build a pillar around the dangling floor ghoul. 4 sides all around, looks like a pillar built for support. :) also I love your videos. You are my fav by builder by far! You make me want to make a video tour of some of my settlements.
just like the guy just past the bridge between red rocket truck stop and sanctuary hills. I keep throwing him into the water to clear his corpse off the road, but the body keeps getting reset.
I saw your video first showing the wall/ceiling trick, and have loved and used it to death throughout my settlements. Thanks for the trick!
I like that Petard was mentioned. I love his settlement videos.
+Todd Meyer Love that guy.
norespawns I've been watching your videos and his a lot. Keep up the good work. My settlements look so much better now.
love you work dude,i had the same problems with Sunshine tiding co-op annoying asf
Maybe the ghouls don't like the concept of norespawns, so they just come back....
Irritating ghouls aside - dat thumbnail tho? Perfect lighting.
USE THE POWER FIST .
I used the power fist to chop up the bodies and I knocked the guy through the ceiling
You could use a ripper or get Le Fuis De Terrible it has bonus limb damage, if you just continue to hack away it could get rid of it
+norespawns are you playing on PC? Open thp the console, click on a body, and type in "disable" without the quotes and the body will go away.
+WhiteWeaselGaming He is not. He is playing on PS4.
The corpses reappearing are a very annoying problem. I really hope they fix it soon. I dumped them into the sea but they still come back. I kind of abandoned that settlement. There's one guy there all alone.
The respawning ghouls are a real pain in the dick. I even dragged the lot of them (took ages) to the nearby Gas Station, burned them with a flamer then used the Fat Man THREE times! Within a week they were back!
Almost as annoying at this place is when you return & all the settlers are down the bottom of the cliff. A bloody horde of them all standing in the sea!
+Jimboola Every time I arrive the damn settlers are taking a dip
I grabbed the hanging ghoul from below and twisted him out, though not sure if he respawned again, need to go back and check. Reacently someone, else where, said that if you put a large/heavy object in the spot they spawn, they won't respawn, but haven't tested that one yet.
norespawns I had the same trouble with the feral ghouls. got annoying after a while. also remember to fence in the back of the mansion on the cliff. npc's have fallen off the cliff to their death many times in my game.
I have the same body problem at Sunshine Tidings Co-op and Outpost Zimonja. Except I chopped them up...and when I come back all the pieces are magically back in a human shaped gore pile.
(Walks into the base)
Me : Man this is shaping up to be a great tour of an exterior, I can't wait to see the in- OMFG A MURDER THIS IS A CRIME SCENE ITS A FKING CORRRRPSE
Don't feel too down, I think it gives it a bit of character. Nothing says post apocalyptic nuclear pub like a couple of irradiated zombie legs hanging from the ceiling.
its not as bad but i have an ash pile in the castle settlement from clearing out mirelurks and because it isn't an actual body i can't remove it
also when i use the size glitch 2 or 3 times the lighting begins to glitch really badly
In regards to adding doorways using the rug glitch, I've found i can store the door frame and the door remains (PS4) it's pretty handy when the frame sticks out too much! :)
You have helped me so much with your ideas and how u fix walls and roofs and windows my wife and me are using your ideas to fill in holes in my settlements thanks
yeah... that damn smoke... I had the ghouls come back as well, although in different positions.
I had built a shelter that I was actually proud of prior to learning the rug glitch but every time I returned those stupid ghoul bodies kept coming back. I dragged them down the road and they still returned so I eventually abandoned the location and moved my settlers to other locations. super annoying waste of time.
Ask the gods of petardia to give you the power of the rugs to banish those ghouls and their buttsticks
All the ghouls respawned in croup manor but they were friendly so now I have about 15 ghouls defending my settlement
So annoying, I have this problem at Sunshine Tidings Co-op as well. I've left these settlements to the raiders.
why does the glowing one disappear but not the others, i tried luring the living ghouls away and then killed them those bodies never came back
Those ghouls never leave. They respawn.
I had a permanently stuck raider half in a wall. Normal weapons couldn't dislodge him, but Lorenzo's artifact gibbed him after 5 shots, and then i could move the body
Mary Sutton's corpse keep respawning in the Taffington Boathouse too. I had remodelled the bathroom, walls, doors, bathtub toilet seat etc. The corpse respawned so that her head was in the bathtub and rest of the body on the floor. Didn't bother to remove the bathtub with workbench, just blew the corpses brain out, so I could grab the body with the character. Now the corpse keeps respawning with busted skull in the same place over and over again. Got tired picking up the pieces and moved away from there.
when i did my build of croup manner i set aside a room and put all the ghoul bodies in there then i blocked it off using the carpet trick to glitch a wall in to the door way
My biggest annoyance would be that when you have 25 peeps living there, the people all gather in a circle jerk just outside the green workshop boarder and they all stand to the NE of the house down in the water at the bottom of the rock face... Even with ringing the bell... they just return down there...
I've tried many times on PS4 to get rid of the bodies but they keep coming back. I've just accepted them as power of the deco now. Ha may even turn it into a torture/haunted house.
You can pick them up and drop the at the edge of the area, you wil have to free up the stuck ones to move them lol, mine did not come back as I move all the dead ghouls to get rid of them.
I find it irritating too and have wanted to be able to permanently get rid of them. There are others that have made my shit-list too which are Starlight Drive-In (skeletons), Sunshine Tidings co-op. While they have decent amount of space to work with, those bodies are immersion breaking when they respawn and get in the way.
see if you can put lights onto the hanging ghoul legs! Free chandelier!!
there are 2 mods to clean trash and dead bodies you can use, the first is spring cleaning and the second something like clean dead bodies, you can find it in nexus mod
@norespawns I would like to know the answer to your question also. I not only had them back in, but some were back alive.
I think the ghoul that was going through the ceiling looks cool
The music at the end sounds like something from The Dark Knight Trilogy.
+Pauline Nolan I love it so much - I get royalty free music with my network, and immediately knew I knew I wanted something like that. I'm pleased with that I found.
I had this problem on Spectacle Isle with a settler corpse. Nice little resort I built up, and there's a damn body that's sunk into a board right on the main path that can't be lifted. I can hack it up and dispose of the pieces, but it re-spawns later. I finally built a little veranda over the thing so I don't see it anymore. Not sure what I'd do about your corpse chandelier, though...
+Jim Weaver that bastard annoyed the hell into me. It was the first stuck corpse I encountered (and one of the reason I pulled away from building there). I tried everything - even used 5 mini nukes. Nope :(
+Jim Weaver I think I used the Disable or Markfordelete console command and that corpse disappeared for good. Trouble is one of the mods I installed makes the game crash whether I try to fast travel or swim to Spectacle Island. Every single time.
That corpse was a pain when I was making my Deathclaw Island, I just could not get rid of it, I tried to drag him away to put him in a Deathclaw cage but he chose to get his arms stuck in the floor.
Not built at Sunshine. Mary Sutton kept respawning at Boathouse though. Eventually dragged her body to some robot base about four tiles north. Never returned after that. All on PS4.
I know it's annoying they come back even though you throw them in the sea. I wondered what they weird smoke was, thought it was from a generator or sun or something .. couldn't pin point it to anything ..
I guess this old news but with the Nexus Mods Spring Cleaning mod you can scrap all the internal damaged walls plus unboard the windows and Covenant Windows restores glazing to all windows.
had a similar problem with bloodbugs at one settlement just bug bodies everywhere
can you please make a video about the metal house structures?want to build one but its so annoying sometimes
+ValiLoco187 I tend to find mixing metal with wood works best - as there aren't many pieces in the metal tab to work with. But I will try and use them a little more in upcoming vids :)
Try using explosives/explosive ammo. A gun with explosive damage can be used almost like a broom to remove most things you can't drag/scrap from an area, like bodies and body parts, sometimes even if they're stuck in terrain.
Every time I spawn into Croup Manor all of the Ghouls have re-spawned inside the house and attack my settlers. I built a small tower around the statue base in front of the house, making it the base of the tower so they can at least sleep in a ghoul free zone. I loved this place when I found it. Now I hate it.
i have a glitch where some of my settlers will litterally dissapear and some of em will reapear at the sea
I cannot fill the damn roof in with the floors! I have tried everything that I know to do and still cannot get the floors to "go in" to the house. I have tried rug glitching them in as a set, and it stays red, built them atop a wall and used the rug to try to slide them in and they stay red, and then I tried to use a floor with,a wall on it and then the floors for the ceiling but that stays red aswell. how did you do your ceilings
I had some annoying ghouls that were still alive and didn't move at all. They stood in place and just stared. I didn't even have them pacified.
I have that problem with Raders on the sanctuary bridge.
I was going to make this place my character's main house but everything was so annoying I just gave up and moved to red rocket :/
if you drag them farther away they'll snap back faster, or atleast thats happened to me many times with cars ( propping a mannequin under them you can scoot em around)
Ah I had that problem, though since I'm on PC I used the "disable" command to get rid of the corpses. Solved most of the issue except that a withered and normal feral ghoul corpse respawn everyone and then regardless of if they are disabled or not. Still it's a minor price to pay for a lovely settlement, quite a fun fixer upper.
norespawns... I had this same issue... I took grognak's axe combined with bloody mess and caused the corpses to explode into itty bitty bits. Not too bad if you don't mind the mess.
LOL, "Boudoir" is an interesting way to put it!
My friend tells me that the ghouls reset where they were killed so I was wondering if you lured the ghouls out of the settlement (while they're alive) and kill them further away, then when they reset would they return inside the settlement boundaries or just reset to the location they were killed?
I know your comment is old but this particular ghoul is already dead when you forst discover the settlement
Did you know you can get out of work shop mode. You look at the bodies and hold X on them, and you can pick them up
yes, the normal "pick up" trick. we know that. the problem here is the bodies will come back later, they re-appear in the same spot for no reason. also, the one trapped in the floor/ceiling is stuck inside the shape and you cannot lift him, i.e. you pick him up and it wiggles but does not carry.
i couldn't say how long it took but mine went away on their own eventually.
Hey Davey, heard that a lot of other players are having same issues. Wish they would fix this.
Yay. A new video!
I have the same problem but your theory worked for me on Xbox one. I grabbed and dragged the body quite a distance. hasn't bothered me since. great vids tho! I've subbed
Unless you have an aversion to using the console (PC only) there is a way to eliminate annoying corpses. While standing over the offending corpse, enter console, and click on the corpse. A code for that corpse will appear. Type disable. Poof! Gone. Can't guarantee that they will never respawn, haven't waited long enough to be sure.
Making this settlement an inn would be cool
I noticed the corpses that are already dead when you arrive at a location are the ones that won't leave. Those ghouls that reappeared are already dead when you discover the manor. Same with the woman at the boathouse and the ghouls at sunshine tidings and ect. They make me not want to build in those places at all. The unremovable skeletons in the drive-in make me crazy too. How am I supposed to believe an entire settlement was built but no one thought to remove the bodies??
ahhh these ghouls again,in how many settlements it is like that?i now know sunshine tidings co-op and Croup Manor,as long it isnt fixed i dont want to build in this settlements, which is annoying sunshine tidings looks cool :/
+ValiLoco187 To be fair with sunshine it's not really too annoying as they're just in the buildings and can easily be moved. I love that area. But agreed - it's the stuck ones that really make me fume.
Find an area that you are not using and pile them into a self built box or drag them under the structures you build if you have empty space inside them.
The bodies may be hard coded in like that strange staircase at Outpost Zaminco (sp?) or the tow bodies on the other side of the bridge leaving Sanctuary.
+Erich Salvesen Zimonja? I've built relatively extensively there (for me) and I don't remember any perma-corpses.
+Lytrigian Stairs. Pay attention.
Erich Salvesen You meant to say that maybe the bodies are "hard coded" like... every single piece of fixed architecture in the game? And you pick the stairs at Zimonja as a particular example?
Ooookaaaay....
+Lytrigian That is what I said. Goodbye.
Erich Salvesen Well, that's ridiculous. You can't move the architecture, so there would be no means for it to respawn.
I would leave them as part of the house decor. Maybe turn it into a slaughter house for raiders
I have reappearing dead ghouls in Sunshine Tidings. I've dropped them way outside the green line (and inside; as an experiment), but they always reappear after a fast travel. Suckity suck.
+Mike Neu Yeah I visited there the other day and they had all come back. I really, really hope they give us the ability to scrap bodies soon.
Sorry man, my first time watching thru this, I was laughing when you pointed out the first ghoul.
+Daniel Johnson people keep suggesting I turn him into a chandelier - I'm not gonna lie, i'm tempted.
For the ghouls stuck in the roof. Open workshop menu press X on PS4 to select the flooring then wait for it the ghoul to fall then press O (circle) to put the flooring back
Doesn't work. The fukking ghouls arms are spread out which keeps it from falling through.
You can try to use the console with the "disable" command for the ghoul corpse.
Just click on the ghoul before activating the command
Sorry for my approximate English I'm French
I've tried picking them up and moving them and it seemed to work.
+Critical Massiah yeah but they eventually respawn back in their original place - that's the issue I'm having here; notably with the two stuck in the walls.
Hi there friend, I can't confirm this but from my experience, ghouls and dead bodies despawn from areas once you leave the cell for a period of time.I'm fairly sure I read this on a steam community forum if you want to go and check there but this did in fact happen when I cleared out Sunshine Tidings Co Op. I was away from that area for maybe about a week, possibly more, of in game days and when I went back and the bodies were gone. I'm not sure exactly how big the cells are or where the the walls between them are but I'm sure that information is available online somewhere.
So if you just leave that area I suppose, go as far away as maybe Diamond City or something and stay away then when you go back the ghoul corpses should be gone. Had the same issue at Croup Manor but haven't gone back yet to see if they'd rotted away. One of my settlers there does like jumping off the cliff into the sea though which would be humorous if I didn't need to talk to them.
Good luck
Drag the bodies away and then place something over where their bodies used to be. It prevents them from being able to spawn in there again. I think if you place something over where the body was, fast travel to somewhere else and come back you can then get rid of what ever you put where the body used to be.
+Og9y Not with the one in the ceiling - as you can see he's actually respawned between the floor boards I placed down. Plus he also had a bed over him. I appears that some of the bodies are just scripted to be there.
If you really want to you could just use the mat glitch to place objects that "hide" the bodies?
+Aodhan Newton-Creemers Fine for the floor above - but those dangling legs are a little trickier to hide D:
It'd be nice if when i select to sort comments by newest first they'd actually get sorted that way!! So I take there is no fix for this ghoul issue for those of us playing on Xbox? When I found this settlement I was on a mission to fix the house and got all the first floor cleaned up. But now that all the dam ghouls are back I think I'll wait for Bethesda to fix this problem before moving on. Already dealt with it at Sunshine Tidings. It's a PITA having all these dead ghouls respawn back.
Its a horrible place for a settlement. The house is in such a bad state I decided not to bother with it.
It was fun clearing it out though.
Great base
i got rid of them by holding A on xbox( X for ps4) not in workshop mode and dragged them to the sea
I have some bloodbugs in a corner and a dead chick in my doghouse at the one house and dock thing
Same thing happened with me. It prevents getting raided, I think. I have a gunner corpse close to the castle. Haven't been raided once. I want to get raided :(...
On the one coming through the ceiling and the floor of the upstairs, can't to put a table over it? And try putting an, I don't know a disco ball?😂
I'm sorry to say but no matter how far you move the bodies away they always come back 😤
+jess cook :(
Bethesda should get with the alternate energy program.... an alternative power source from composted ghouls etc.
