Hey everyone - my flu keeps going up and down, which is making recording this narration damn frustrating as I keep having coughing fits. I've recorded the footage, so I'm going to post-pone the next video until tomorrow. Pretty sure I must be on the trail end of this thing, so hopefully we'll be back to normal soon. Apologies all.
I mentioned it in a reply to someone in another vid, but the quintessential massive slapped-together human settlement IRL would be the old Kowloon Walled City before they demolished it in 1993. Go look it up. There aren't too many photos of the interior, unfortunately, but it's still amazing. (I think Davey alludes to it, but you probably need the name to find it.) I had actually started recording the times for the drinking game in this comment, just as an aid for people with more booze than spare time, but then I got to 6:20 and had to chug half a bottle of wine all at once. So there's no point, really.
+Lytrigian That's the place I was thinking of (saw it a few times on reddit and could never remember the name). Also the thought that people might get drunk to my videos is awesome. Wait no - grand.
Really like how you're able to fill that place so effortlessly because every time I want to build there, I get overwhelmed with space. Also, your castle is starting to look more like a town with walls which is amazing.
I know I'm 8 years late, but holy shit this is amazing. You have basically nailed the kind of aesthetic I love about FO4 building and taken it to the next level. I've been too "worried" about having certain things snap properly and you've really shown me I gotta let that go to get the look I'm going for.
Out of all i have seen on RUclips for fallout 4 builds (I've seen a lot) this is by far my favourite to watch. Lovin' the shanty town build it's delicious
Goddammit Davy, there's too many Grands, now I'm out of whiskey. :P Btw, I wanted to know if you ever considered doing some kind of livestream of a build. Pick a settlement location and just stream you building it. I imagine it would take off some of the editing burden and the interaction with your subs could lead to some interesting builds/commentary. Just a thought.
If you ever decide to use the Institute teleporter machinery in a Settlement Tour, try and save it for Outpost Zimonja. Outpost Zimonja has a shitload of prefab telecommunications equipment laying around, and by throwing in the teleporter equipment and some power conduits in grid patterns, you can make the entire settlement look like an electrical substation. It looks great and might be a nice way to break up the repetition of turning every location into a shanty town.
Looking incredible. You've been a big inspiration for my builds (which are painfully slow because I'm very self critical). Just to note, I hope they don't have rough storms in Boston ;) you're generators wouldn't last too long.
First, I love the build. But I really don't think it fits the Minutemen theme as they are a military organization. Order and uniformity are important to military outfits. Now for a raider base? It basically looks like Libertalia on land.
The minutemen are whatever you make them, theyre the most malleable faction bethesda has ever given us. If they want MM HQ to be a post-war metropolis then in that world thats what theyll do. If you want them as the next BOS thats what theyll be, if you want them as just a ragtag handful of wastelanders with pistols then thats what theyll be. You cant dictate how a factions works to someone when that faction is literally designed to be a subjective experience
Awesome build so far Davey. You were saying that it looks a little repetition-y and I think it looks that way as you've used the same roof on the walkway. Not sure so it's just a suggestion!
Yeah I've just about given up on putting Mutfruit in my settlements. Big yellow leaves all over the place just doesn't strike my eye well. So Tatos, Corn, and Carrots for me. Also for my cramped shanty towns like this one, and really all my settlements. I've given up on doors. Hear me out here, I still use the doorways, but you've recognized that settlers never shut the doors. So all the doors you place down are basically perpetually open, which looks silly. The doors seem to cause a lot of pathing issues with my settlers as well due to cramped walkways. So open doorways for me, and I think it looks better anyway. Also Davey.... How about those double railings?
Davey, always love the vids. Our build styles are incredibly similar. I also think back to Megaton often. I built a 12-sided guard tower and did a let's build on it. I didn't want to spam your comment section with a link, but if you wanted to check it out, I think you might like it.
+FilmGuy7000 At some point - next tour is the Castle; which will be up sometime this week (small delay due to me being down with the flu). Pondering my next place now.
Great Video, i love your building style... but i have one little problem with the walkways, i think you should make some of them a bit arched... in my settlements i use the technique that you did your big entrance stairs with (the small floors and small stairs one) and i replace the floors with those two block wide balcony things... i hope you understand what i'm trying to describe here... greetings from germany, keep up the good work
I don't know if you know you can do this put I prefer the switch conduits that are mid height and I basically use those for light switches inside house. You can wire directly to it then use the rug glitch and I think k it looks really good especially in sanctuary with the tall power lines because it looks liek each individual house is powered.
Do you ever find that the lack of repetition is repetition in itself? Sometimes I purposely repeat a railing, or a structure amongst not repeating them in order to make it not look forced. And then, you know, just slap jukeboxes and mirror balls everywhere.
+Potema Dunne I'm going to be tidying this up quite a bit - changing bits and generally making it look organic. Right now this is definitely suffering from 'repeating repetition' - but it'll be sorted soon.
great building! Can't wait to see what it will looks like when finished. I've got a lot of problem with the rug glitch it makes my game crash (I play on ps4) anyone has a clue why?
it crashed only when I try to make a proper fence for my redrocket settlement not during regular gameplay or building end right before it crashed my rug started to shake really fast
this is the best lets play video i wish i could play fall out 4 but i do not have a xbox one or fall out 4 :( but good job on the let build i loge your videos good job bro
Davey I absolutely adore these let's builds, but please, please do not speed them up like that... I can't keep track of anything you're doing... But still, you sir have great imagination and should consider working for Bethesda at one point! ;)
+Elephant Warrior Yeah but that would look bad - even though they're 'hidden' you can still see them if you look. There's more than enough space in the Castle to have a high defence, while still looking good.
can you do me solid and google/youtube ''i cant believe youve done this'' and do your own impression in a video. You have a similar voice to the guy in the vid. love the vids.
+SirGhostly I agree, it's way too limited. Although I'm playing on PC, I must have gone at least three times over the build limit in Abernathy farm and I can't see any difference in frame rates. Maybe it's more to do with the game engine? Maybe there are instability issues so that while frame rate is ok the game might just crash out of nowhere.
Jakub Kurowski I said I've gone over the limit three times. Meaning the bar has filled up three (four?) times all together. Quite obvious that I know how the glitch works. I re-read my comment and I don't know how it can be misunderstood. Maybe you meant to reply to Sirghostly? :)
Hey can you slow this video down please I'm to follow the video because I'm trying build the castle interior the same way you are and can't because of the speed thank you buddy :)

by far the best fallout 4 builder I've seen. you deserve so much more subscribers
I mentioned it in a reply to someone in another vid, but the quintessential massive slapped-together human settlement IRL would be the old Kowloon Walled City before they demolished it in 1993. Lol a-least he acknowledges he does it
Really like how you're able to fill that place so effortlessly because every time I want to build there, I get overwhelmed with space. Also, your castle is starting to look more like a town with walls which is amazing.
its sooooo satisfying to watch someone who understands settlement asthetics properly
like the orginised chaos just...works
+Jamie Gibbons Loves me some organised chaos :)
I don't even play Fallout 4 anymore but I make sure to watch your videos, your builds are absolutely amazing
Your videos are so helpful! They've completely changed the way I approach settlement builds in my games. Thank youuu!
I know I'm 8 years late, but holy shit this is amazing. You have basically nailed the kind of aesthetic I love about FO4 building and taken it to the next level.

The castle series is by far your "Let's Build" series. I love how you incorporate everything from the previous videos.
Goddammit Davy, there's too many Grands, now I'm out of whiskey. :P

Yeah I would definitely watch a live stream of his
Grand actually happens to be my word, we're gonna have a problem. Great videos, I really enjoy them.

Dude I respect the amount of work in your vids and your castle, it's incredible keep it up

this is one of the only other fallout settlement builders I watch besides high vis harry
First.
Why do people do this.
I love your vids. Keep doing what you do.
Second
Who knows
forth
PLZZZZ SETTLEMENT TOURS!!!!!!!
That's what I'm always saying?
"short" and simple videos. that's why i like you
I just wood not have the patience for this. Loving the videos though, who knew atomic nuclear annihilation could be such a blast.
I'm here all week.
+Phil Mitchell hehe cheers

I've done my pretty similar to yours and I love it! It's not as cramped/shanty feeling but it's the same overall idea
when did he do the first building D:
I like how you mismatched the fence types on the narrow walkways - I never thought to do that. I'll try that now :)
Awesome build so far Davey. You were saying that it looks a little repetition-y and I think it looks that way as you've used the same roof on the walkway. Not sure so it's just a suggestion!
+Will Pocock That's something I'm dealing with today - as the roofs are a definite contributing factor. It'll look grand soon.
Looks awesome! Definitely prefer the shanty look :)
I think my favorite part of your voice is your laugh.
+Ashley Mackin It's a slightly delirious flu cackle right now - but thank you :)
+norespawns It's suites you well, haha, but anytime.
You are such a good builder!! Wish I could build like you
looked great bro. I just started a city at starlight drive in.
Thanks so much for these videos man. Much love. Cheers.

Also Davey.... How about those double railings?
the question is , after youre done is it even possible to have enough space for furniture and decoration?
Davey, always love the vids. Our build styles are incredibly similar. I also think back to Megaton often. I built a 12-sided guard tower and did a let's build on it. I didn't want to spam your comment section with a link, but if you wanted to check it out, I think you might like it.
+Draco Invictus Thanks! Left a comment on your most recent video - go take a look (it's positive, don't worry).
Still watching, excellent so far! At around 6:50, did you extend the stairs with another set of stairs? If so, do NPC's still use them?
+BETACADE Gaming yeah they do :)
Do you think you'll ever build around the lighthouse? I'd love to see your building skills there. Love your vids, great work!
+FilmGuy7000 At some point - next tour is the Castle; which will be up sometime this week (small delay due to me being down with the flu). Pondering my next place now.
Great Video, i love your building style... but i have one little problem with the walkways, i think you should make some of them a bit arched... in my settlements i use the technique that you did your big entrance stairs with (the small floors and small stairs one) and i replace the floors with those two block wide balcony things... i hope you understand what i'm trying to describe here... greetings from germany, keep up the good work
You were in the zone .
+norespawns where do you get all your wood and steel to build these big settlements at?
So are the upper areas on the bridges houses? Or are they just patrolling unit type of things
I don't know if you know you can do this put I prefer the switch conduits that are mid height and I basically use those for light switches inside house. You can wire directly to it then use the rug glitch and I think k it looks really good especially in sanctuary with the tall power lines because it looks liek each individual house is powered.

Are you going to do anything for the Warwick Homestead settlement? I think it has a lot of potential
+DefileddNL At some point - there's still a good 15 or so places for me to build up.
Hi man! Your tutorials are great! Are you going to do a Hangman's Alley tutorial? It's a stones throw northwest of Diamond City.
it would be really nice if you added artillery defence somewhere
+Erik Boustedt Yeah that's coming - I just forgot to do the others.
Can you increase the size meter somehow? Any input would be appreciated
how do you get that much built I tend to fill my size just doing the outer walls and defenses
I know its lat ebut have you ever figured out the power line glitch?
How do you get all those materials? I keep running out of wood, and I am not even half way done with my cruddy Sanctuary settlement.
+Elephant Warrior Shipments - lots and lots of them.
HOLY F*** BRO YOU ABOVE AND BEYOND!
hey when do u build the first building we see in this video ?
How do i expand the size of the settlement when the maximum is reached?
when did he build he building at the start?
great building! Can't wait to see what it will looks like when finished.
I've got a lot of problem with the rug glitch it makes my game crash (I play on ps4) anyone has a clue why?
+Kevin Alibert Crash? Damn - no idea. And I use that glitch A LOT.
it works perfectly then suddenly it starts not working and the game crash, I've made some research and find nothing about it
+Kevin Alibert Are you sure that's why the game crashes? Because sometimes it just does, particularly if it's not patched.
it crashed only when I try to make a proper fence for my redrocket settlement not during regular gameplay or building end right before it crashed my rug started to shake really fast
this is the best lets play video i wish i could play fall out 4 but i do not have a xbox one or fall out 4 :( but good job on the let build i loge your videos good job bro
This build reminds me of diamond city
Is this on PS4? How do you get over build limit ??
have you expanded the size cap for your Castle build ?
+ozskeeter He has expanded it like 7 times now
How is the size of your build going down?
THIS IS AMAZING!
He said BUTT Fuck it 😂😂
I really really want to see a decorating video
Hey bud why didn't yo record building the first building
I'm just going to scrap my whole castle and leave it completely. You have just destroyed my ideas. lol
If you're in the east end you should say "bag o' sand"
You should commentate on the settlement tours
How do you cycle category's when you aim at an item with out picking it up
Up on the d pad
It looks like a brazilian favela
+Tads552 It´s true
And do u have an xbox one bc I'd love to follow you if u didn't mind
Two shots every time he says "scrappy".
Basically an another diamond city. Diamond city is inside a stadium, this is inside a castle..
AHHH new mod for pc just arrived. listen to this davy : Snappable, Junk, Fences. feels amazing
+Yusuf Alkan Rugs4Life
+norespawns ill sell you 20 rugs for 2 jet
+Yusuf Alkan I can think of all kinds of reasons why snappable junk fences aren't that great an idea.
+Lytrigian looool go watch gophers mod vault. Snapping works great
Yusuf Alkan I'm not going to watch the whole goddamn playlist. Which video?
Yo Davey which ending did you do?
+dudeomaticman Minutemen - now working on the Railroad
Oh that's cewp i did the minutemen on my first playthrough too
Imagine how annoying it would be living in the house with the walkway on the roof and having a bunch of assholes walking around on it at 3AM.
how do you jump while in settlement builder?
The normal jump button (Y, triangle whatever) but if you changed the jump button to A/X you can't.
+Rocket8176 ooooh I changed mine to X that's why it doesn't work thanks
this kind of reminds me of megaton... i like it :)
You should do Spectacle Island
Davey I absolutely adore these let's builds, but please, please do not speed them up like that... I can't keep track of anything you're doing... But still, you sir have great imagination and should consider working for Bethesda at one point! ;)
+Marios Iatrou (Marios2002) Yeah I might just have to do two more episodes or something. About to start recording now, so we'll see how long this is.
+norespawns oh hell yeah
+Marios Iatrou (Marios2002) I bet it'll be grand
Just add random turrets everywhere. No one will attack if Defence>Food+Water.
Just shove random turrets inside a pointless room inside the walls.
+Elephant Warrior Yeah but that would look bad - even though they're 'hidden' you can still see them if you look. There's more than enough space in the Castle to have a high defence, while still looking good.
3 mins in the vid and he already said "grand."
You should defo be a games developer for Bethesda your bases are better than the ones made by Bethesda
Bruuuuh can you give me the save file pls
just a bit too fast at times. looks great so far though
Love it
Anyone see that he skiped the bottom room?
show more about generator house
love
I think the word you're looking for is "repetitive" and not "repetitiony"
+Stormeris I know - I was being silly.
I don't want to have a lot of settlements I want to have a lot of room for my main settlement
can you do me solid and google/youtube ''i cant believe youve done this'' and do your own impression in a video. You have a similar voice to the guy in the vid. love the vids.
I dont understand the point of the size limit on consoles if you have all this shit and still dont have any lag
+RustySam Drop all your weapons and then transfer them all to workbench in building mode.
Your size limit will decrease.
Jakub Kurowski
I said I've gone over the limit three times. Meaning the bar has filled up three (four?) times all together. Quite obvious that I know how the glitch works. I re-read my comment and I don't know how it can be misunderstood. Maybe you meant to reply to Sirghostly? :)
+RustySam Yup.
Sorry, I missclicked.
+Waddehaddeduddedaa That happened to me even in small settlements. Try switching them off and on.
my names david too lol
PLZZZ SETTLEMENT TOURS!!!
Do a red rocket I made some sweet stuff there
+lethal loggerhead ruclips.net/video/SKcxgvS0Y9I/видео.html - already done :)
Hey can you slow this video down please I'm to follow the video because I'm trying build the castle interior the same way you are and can't because of the speed thank you buddy :)
Youre chanel is amazing..... Bye
Why are you wasting time buildings this settlement when others need your help I will map it on your mark babe
You tell me to get this settlement with your shit Minutemen and now I'm suppose to ignore it 😡😡😡😡
Too fast to follow
Solid, decent idea
