  • The return leg of our trip from Manly to Mooloolaba and return. The trip is just over 50 miles each way, so a solid day sail. Conditions on the return leg were not quite as forecast but provided some superb sailing conditions. Hope you enjoy.

You´re living the dream of so many people-including myself.
Watching from Germany on a cold foggy day, while my wife is dressing the Christmas tree up.
I`ve had the plan to circumnavigate the World one day, but I have less and less tendencies to do so.
C-19 is so much spoiling the show and nobody knows where this crany frenzy will ever end.
Ending on a positive note: I used to think that a boat with a full keel isn´t something I´d ever get a liking to,
but now I do not want anything else.
I believe it is more comfortable, it tracks way better and at the end of the day, it is excellent in a storm.
Keep the video´s coming, please! It is like therapy in these crazy times!
    thanks
    Tobias

Thanks Tobias I enjoyed reading your comments. ironically I am currently in Germany visiting my family so this year no Christmas sailing trip but cold and fog.
I am glad you enjoy the videos as I thoroughly enjoy making them.
I share that dream of circumnavigating the world or for starters perhaps a toned down version such as sailing the Queensland coast. So next year I hope to get a bit more sailing in and to post more frequently.
I also agree with your assessment of a full keel boat and it was those characteristics of seaworthiness and comfort that attracted me to the Westsail. I was anticipating that I would be undertaking a lot of the sailing single handed and so I wanted a boat that would look after me.
Well, I hope there are some presents underneath your Christmas tree ;)
      Cheers

Ah mate, you have my sympathy.
I have seen a few videos of other Westsailors in harsh winters, talking about winterizing the boat and certainly not going anywhere. I really feel for them. It always makes me grateful for the warm weather and amazing sailing conditions that I can enjoy.

Hi. I would like to know your head sails and track set up. Balena W32 from NZ

      Hi Christy and ahoy Balena
I will take some more footage of the headsail set up but I as far as I know it is fairly standard. I fly a Yankee on a furler with the tracks on the caprail and a staysail (not self tending) with tracks on the coachroof. The tracks seem to be as depicted in the build manual. It seems to work quite well although the Yankee is sheeted on the outside of the shrouds and I would like to experiment with sheeting on the inside when close hauled.

There is a bit of a boat tour of the interior in the part 3 of the Great Sandy Strait trip ruclips.net/video/0rEJGc0MrYw/видео.html (I know, a bit random)
However, I am planning on doing a more detailed one in the near future. She is a lovely boat below.

@@littlewing.ws32 thanks much appreciated. Do you think Westsail 33 is big enough to live on.

    • @littlewing.ws32
      @littlewing.ws32  2 года назад +1

@@captainjtrain8629 I think she is big enough to live on but it depends on your expectations. It is still a 32 foot boat and designed to cross oceans and not designed as a house boat. When in the marina you are living on a 32 foot boat but due to the 6 foot bowsprit you are paying for a 38 foot berth. So for living aboard a 38 footer without a canoe stern would give you a lot more bang for your buck.
