Little Wing
Австралия
Добавлен 3 окт 2020
Little Wing is a Westsail 32 built in California in 1976. The design is based on boats by the Naval Architect Colin Archer which was later adapted by William Atkin and then by William Crealock to facilitate construction in fibreglass.

Little Wing on an Easter Sail
Trying to reduce hours of footage into a handful of minutes is not that easy. Nevertheless, I hope you get a sense of how absolutely beautiful this day sail around Moreton Bay was and enjoy this video.

Little Wing doing what she does best. Somewhere off the Australian Coast ripping along under asymmetric spinnaker. Hope you enjoy, I did :)

This is the last leg of this adventure, which brings us to Burnett Heads. It was another 60 mile or so sail with the wind really picking up towards the end of the day. Little Wing and I arrived with a bent spinnaker pole and the eye ripped out of the head of the spinnaker. For me arrival was accompanied with mixed feelings. I felt a great joy and sense of achievement but it was tinged with a ti...

The fun continues. On this leg I make it to Pancake creek, which has an unlit, fairly narrow and shallow entry. So there was some pressure to arrive before sunset. But really I think the video talks for itself. Hope you enjoy the sailing. More wind, more waves, more sailing. After about 150NM of close hauled sailing we clear Townshend and can finally bear away a bit. The journey continuous via Island Head Creek on to Keppel Bay with some wonderful sailing conditions. On this leg of the trip I had some beautiful sailing conditions although at times the wind died away to nothing, really teaching me some patience… I had a plan but wind, tides and Little Wing decided to head to Curlew Island instead. I cannot complain as it is a beautiful place to visit. Music: Georgia by HoliznaCCO freemusicarchive.org/music/holiznacc0/music-from-the-vault/georgia/ Under the I...

Cyclone season in the tropical north is approaching and therefore I am beginning my solo sail from the Whitsundays back to Brisbane. For the first four days it was blowing 20 to 25 knots from South East; right on the nose. Whilst these waters are protected by the Barrier Reef, there is quite a bit of current that will create some interesting conditions as it flows around islands, accelerates th...

In this video we travel to Bowen, which is as far North as time and wind will permit this season, and return to Airlie. It has been an amazing trip and experience and great fun. Heading further into the heart of the Whitsundays and ending up in Airlie. We had a wonderful sail tacking up the Whitsunday Passage and hope you enjoy the sailing footage. We also visited Nara Inlet on Hook Island and experienced the first day with no and light winds. It is definitely getting busier especially as we are entering the charter boat territory. The catch phrase for the Whitsundays ...

We are sailing the Whitsunday Islands and enjoying this amazing stretch of the Australian coast. And finally, we get a chance to hoist the new asymmetric spinnaker. Had to battle a twisted sock, spinnaker and ropes but in the end it set just fine. We hope you enjoy this next stretch of our journey.

In Mackay we pick up the latest addition to Little Wing; the asymmetric spinnaker. We head on to more amazing tropical islands and have our first days of calm or no winds. I guess that is the reality of cruising life, that some days there is just no wind but all days spent on the water are just magnificent.

Heading north from Keppel Bay along the beautiful Shoalwater area and on to South Percy Island. The sail from Keppel to Port Clinton had some challenging sea conditions and both of us were sea sick. But the next leg, to South Percy was back to beautiful sailing conditions. We hope you enjoy this video.

You two are just great! Really enjoying all these video's. I'm wanting to learn to sail and you are giving me so much inspiration. Thank you!
It is such a joy to watch these video´s. Please make more of them and longer ones that include more info about the harbours you´re using etc.
Worked for Westsail 5 years in Costa Mesa California from the Placencia st over to Redhill plant. 1973 thru 1978. What a great time then., until the money stopped.
Just bought a Westy, wondering what dingy you have on deck…
We sold our west sail Runaway 111 in 2000. I wonder if this is her? We sailed from San Diego to Sydney in 1999. Best boat ever!!
Is that a walker bay I see ❤
Great video. What did it cost to replace the standing rigging ??? and who made up the new shrouds 'n stays, etc
I see little wing is sold, I hope it goes to someone as fastidious as yourself
My dream boat
Casually filming up top the mast. I love those W32's. Great videos.
I love the westsail 32
"That's what it looks like"....profound. Really enjoy your videos.
At what lean angle do you pucker up a little? I'd be tempted to furl in the head sail and just go staysail. But you know your boat. Love the WS 32
Thank you for not putting music over any of this, it's great to just listen to the sounds of sailing.
Wow that tired me out and made me hungry too! ....
I don’t know about anyone else but when the lee rail is constantly underwater the angle of heel becomes too uncomfortable to stand in the cockpit. Time to bear away and get the boat on more of an even keel. That’s just me 😆👍
very nice well organized boat !
It's nice to see something taken Well Care of .......
Very nice. What kind of anchor windlass is that?
Your videos are so peaceful... From a land locked sailor, I thank you.
Were many of the Westsail boats built by professional shipyards? I have never seen one around the great lakes or southeast coast of the US.
Great stuff 👍 A good friend of mine just recently had gave me a gift.. Witch is the same Yacht like yours. It just needs some work to be done on it. And off i go😅 . Perhaps some day will bump in to eachother 😂 Good on ya guy's! Great video.. Cheers, Joe from Sydney
👍
Great footage thanks
Thanks for posting these videos its great to see the Westsail doing its thing
I always thought that one had to use a special paint on the bronze wheel?
Only thing that I don't like is how that Rocna sits on the anchor roller. Perhaps a Spade or a Delta would fit better? Also, looks as if the rudder was designed to catch pot lines. On my Glander Cay 23 I was able to remove the " catchy" protrusion of the rudder, but that does not seem possible on the Westsail. Perhaps a bronze tang extending from the keel to under the rudder?
Beautiful Australia may be Good project for long time.... And Plans.....
Awesome runs! Nearly done with my refit of a Westsail 32, and then I'll be cruising along like you two.
It's Little Wing's world, we just live in it:)
If you turn on captions, Little Wing clearly says "thank you" at 17:00
LOL. You are right. That is hilarious. Little Wing is chipping in...
Motor boat drivers ruin pretty much everything at every opportunity. When you have an entire ocean why park your bus right on top of a sailor? And the motor boat closest to you invariably starts their drunken orgy at the time sailors like to sleep in order to rest for the next favorable tide.
Lovely Mate
Very nice. My only gripe (which I have no right to make as it is not my boat) is how that Rocna sits on the bow roller. I like the Delta for its all-around reliability.
So jealous , CHEERS
Where abouts in Australia was this shot?
Hope you get away on another coast run, really enjoyed the last series.
I hope so too! That would be awesome.
Hi guys. I'm a new subscriber having fallen in love with the Westsail 32. What a fantastic boat! I love your videos with their mix of unadulterated sailing sequences and your friendly presentations. Keep up the good work. I notice your dinghy fits nicely on the foredeck - what type and size is it? many thanks 🙂
Welcome aboard. The dinghy is a Walker Bay 8 foot / 2.4m
Thank you. Please make more. Just the sound of the boat, rig. Their sounds mixed with the sea. Therapy for many. Get to go Sydney on occasion if your in the neighborhood talk boats and stories.
I agree; therapy. Sailing is so good for the soul.
Thank YOU!
Glad to see you posted another excellent video! I've been wondering what you've been up to. I hope to see more soon!
Thank you, much appreciated.
She's beautiful!
What design is the vessel? Length displacement etc
She is a Westsail 32. Check out the description and links on the Channel Home Page, right up the top, underneath the photo banner.
Thank you
Lovely
My little yacht called little wing to..named after the jimi Hendricks song ..they played at my sons funeral
I am so sorry for you loss.
Wow ....... this is a treat after such a long absence! We missed you but great to see you are still sailing.
Thanks for your kind words.
Finally! A sailing video that doesn't ruin the beautiful sounds of the ocean and boat with tacky music. Please keep it up!
We will do our best🙂
@@littlewing.ws32 Thank you. 🙏
Fabulous! Such nostalgia for my younger days. Thank you x
Your back skipper! Awesome. Hope all is well.
Cheers, all well.
7 knots is not too shabby at all Ben.
😊😊 its a real buzz when Little Wing hits the 7 knots. One of the best improvements over the last Year has been the installation of a Log.
Does anyone know the length and design of this beautiful sailboat?
