You didn’t mention the bobbin thread. I’ve heard recommendations of not using the metallic in the bottom, but another type of thread to help with tension issues.
I would love to use metallic thread but after using an invisible thread I ruined my machine! It tangled inside my machine because it was so unruly. It would have cost me more to get my machine fixed than to get a new one. Now I am afraid to any kind of jazzy thread! I'm thinking about buying a used/cheap machine to experiment!
I made a couple of Frozen quilts for my girls and used silver metallic thread for the quilting - looks gorgeous!

I just use a net over the spool and that takes care of the crazy unspooling!

I like using the same in top and bottom, so I used the metallic in the bobbin as well.

Planning to do gingerbread houses part of it with metallics. And to keep from thread from jumping off would thread nets help?
yes there are covers you can get to help with that
