Hi Melanie, Thanks for the information I didn't know that you used a different needle when using metallic thread. I've not used any have heard all kinds of story's about how hard metallic thread is to use. But after watching this I might just give it ago.

How do you get the metallic thread on a metal bobbin? It just spins and spins.

Thank you I have just jumped in to sew with metallic threads and they have split, broken and been a bit rubbish. I’m going to try again using your advice

You didn’t mention the bobbin thread. I’ve heard recommendations of not using the metallic in the bottom, but another type of thread to help with tension issues.

I like using the same in top and bottom, so I used the metallic in the bobbin as well.

What kind of thread do you use in the bobbin?

  • @dailycharmaddict

I just use a net over the spool and that takes care of the crazy unspooling!

I would love to use metallic thread but after using an invisible thread I ruined my machine! It tangled inside my machine because it was so unruly. It would have cost me more to get my machine fixed than to get a new one. Now I am afraid to any kind of jazzy thread! I'm thinking about buying a used/cheap machine to experiment!
