    From a long time, I had problems with nylon- meaning they break easily- should I use something else? Thank you for your answer!

    • @WonderFilThreads
      @WonderFilThreads  2 года назад

      Hi, if you have been struggling using nylon thread, we suggest you to try different threads. Threads come in so many different materials such as cotton, polyester, rayon, etc. If you can describe us what project you are working on, we can definitely suggest you the right thread :)

      Hi Christina, if you can email us at marketing@wonderfil.net with your city, state/province, and country, we can see if there's a store in your local area. If you live in the US, you can also order it online at this link: shopwonderfil.com/product/thread-tamer/

    • @WonderFilThreads

      Do you mean like a serger/overlocker machine? You wouldn't be able to use the thread stand with one of those as it only fits 3-4 threads on it.

    What is considered best thread?

    • @WonderFilThreads
      @WonderFilThreads  2 года назад

      It really is hard to choose 1 out of all the wonderful threads out there! It really depends on what you are doing with your project. There are so many different thread lines to match with different sewing projects such as quilting, embroidery, serging/overlocking, hand quilting, machine embroidery.. and so on! If you let us know which project you are working on, we'd love to suggest you some threads that goes well :D

    Hi thank you for this video .My question is if I’m working free standing items the bobbin thread has to be the same as the top thread ? I have a gold metallic thread called Superior Threads #40wt and it says to reduce upper tension to “1”. I did everything it says used metallic needle Schmetz 80/12 but it still giving me problems by stitching few stitches then it cut the thread .I have a Bernina 570 QE .Please can you guide me on what I’m doing wrong?Thank you

    • @WonderFilThreads

      While you can get away with using the metallic in both the top and bobbin for freestanding lace, it's very, very difficult. This thread tends to be more fickle to work with as that's just the nature of metallic. While it is possible to do it, it usually requires a lot of experience and familiarity with the inner workings of your machine, so we normally don't recommend using metallic in the bobbin as well.
      Instead, it's preferable to use a really fine bobbin thread with the metallic in the top. We recommend DecoBob which is an 80wt polyester. It's strong and the smaller size will greatly improve the tension in the machine as it will always give way to the top thread. This is especially helpful with machine embroidery because of all the dense stitching.
      Another thing you can try is using a 90/14 topstitch needle instead of the 80/12 metallic needle. A topstitch needle has a larger eye on it, which gives the metallic thread more space to move around.
      Hope this helps!

    • @WonderFilThreads

      In this particular video, we used a Bernina B570 Quilter's Edition. However, you should be able to use metallic threads on pretty much any home sewing machine.

    Hi, what kind of metallic silver thread to use for swimwear fabrics? Thanks

    • @WonderFilThreads
      @WonderFilThreads  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Hanna, we don't recommend metallic threads for swimwear as it would be exposed to adverse conditions such as water and chlorine over a long period of time, resulting in damage to the thread. If you plan on doing any decorative stitching on swimwear fabric, the best thread to use is a polyester embroidery thread (the brand we carry is called Polyfast). It should be designed to withstand bleaching and will stretch with the fabric. It won't look the same as a metallic would, but will still have a shiny finish that looks great for decorative stitching.

    Do you need to do anything with the tension?

    • @WonderFilThreads
      @WonderFilThreads  6 лет назад +2

      Hi Judy, since this is a 40wt thread, you shouldn't need to adjust your tension. It's more important that you use the correct needle and bobbin thread. However you can always pull on the thread when it's threaded in the machine, and if it feels too tight, you can always loosen the tension a little.
