I needed this. I was going back and forth between the sigma 18-50mm f2.8 vs sigma 23mm f1.4 as an everyday carry lens. If a guy like you who has a much better access to camera and gear says its good enough then its good enough for a non professional casual/beginner like me.
Thanks man.
i’m in the same position!
What a great video went from the zve10 to the A7r4a with a Sigma 24-70, t2.8. But it’s a lot cry around if not for professional reasons. I decided to get an a6700, but with this set up I lose nothing thank you brother!
I have these lenses with the A6700.I'm still learning, but it seems that due to the lack of stabilisation in the lenses (IBIS enabled), video content shakes when you walk with the camera. For general purpose lenses I would recommend something with stabilisation.
Which lens you would recommend me for vlogging? And insta reels?
Broooo thinking really hard abt this one! I love my 16-50 kitlens, but the sigma looks like a worthy upgrade!
And one of the biggest reasons im looking at it is like you said. SIZE! i love how small and compact the kitlens is, and everything else is just too big!!!
Awesome vid mark!
Thank you, bro! I think so too! I can't believe this weighs so little for a zoom lens with an f2.8 aperture! I'm thinking to get the 10-18mm variant as well!
The minimum focus distance of the Sigma 18-50mm is insane 😍😍😍.
I use this lens for extreme close up unboxing and review footage on my RUclips channel.
Amen! This lens is incredible for the price. I love it on my a6700!
my 18-50 doesn’t fit on my 6700 😐🙁
Hi Mark! I am looking for this lens for a while and I would be very pleased if you can tell me about any problems with Sony's ai technology?
Hi, there! By AI technology You mean this lens' compatibility with the A6700? So far I've had no problems. Actually brought this lens with my a6700 for professional shoot the other day as a B camera to my a74. It was just an amazing feeling to not have to lug around my Sigma 24-70 on my a74!
Hello and thanks for your reply. I would like to be more specific. How does the camera correct Focus Breathing through its menu and the ai technology it has on this sigma lens? Did you saw a weakness or is this better done on sony lenses?
Always be well!
Great comparison! Having a similar situation here.
Right?? It's so hard to get myself to bring out my A7IV with a heavy 24-70 lens when I know I can just bring out my A6700 with the Sigma 18-50 2.8! Things have changed technology wise, I can't believe this kind of lens exists now!
how is the video when using this lens with the a6700 in body stabilization?
Hey, man! Good question! In video mode, it's a lot more of a smoother interaction on the a6700's stabilization software because it already has "active" stabilization. For photography, I can't really feel the difference especially when I tried it with my friend's older a6400, it's pretty much the same for photography.
@@markfridayhow is it for sharp photography sir with Sony a6400
@@markfriday I have an A6700 with these lenses and for me the stabilisation is very weak, I have to do post processing in GyroFlow as Catalyst Browse does not seem to support gyro data from these lenses. I would recommend going with stabilised Sony lenses, I made the mistake of buying Sigma (great for stills, weak for video when walking around). But maybe I'm doing something wrong, I'm learning.
It always work better with native lens. I sold my sigma 18-50mm f2.8 and bought the sony 16-55mm f2.8. No regrets.
I want a camera for cinematography. I am confused between A7IV and a6700, you have both cameras
Hey, Kushal! For cinematography both are very powerful and very similar cameras. Both can shoot 10 bit. I would say that the a6700 has a slight edge because it does not have an additional crop in 4K60. But of course a74 has the advantage due to its full frame image sensor which may result to better low low performance. It's also worth mentioning that the a6700 is like a hybrid version of the Sony FX30. So solely depends on your budget and which direction you want to take, APSC or full frame
@@markfriday Ok thanks and If I buy a6700, could my video quality decrease as compared to full frame camera
Great video! Very informative on thus Sigma lens!
Love the Jesus tee
Hey, man! Thank you! Happy that you noticed it! Haha!
Thanks so much 🙂🙏

With the modern line up of fast lenses, it's virtually impossible to differentiate between crop and full frame for most use cases of photos online these days anyway. Who could be bothered carrying around full frame?
Hey there thanks for dropping a comment! Appreciate it! Full frame still holds the ability to shoot better in low light and shallower depth of field. Of course if those don't matter to you so much, then APSC is the way to go. I never bring my full frames out anymore unless it's a paid client shoot, but for everyday use, my A6700 fits the bill and it sometimes I want to strip things down a bit more, I bring out my Canon G7X III which is a 1-inch sensor point and shoot style camera which weighs nothing which is why I bring it out a lot!
Can we take nice wedding video shoot bro
Nice vid thanks! Subbed.
There is no best lens, there is only a best lens for the job and your expectations on the result.
The Sigma 18-50 is the best compact zoom. If you don't mind the size, the Tamron 17-70 f2.8 is the better lens.
Totally agree with you, man! That's why I made sure to mention the Tamron 17-70 f2.8! That was my option #2! Just wanted something a lot ligjter and smaller than my already heavy A7IV + Sigma 24-70! Thanks for your input!
@markfriday Mission accomplished, I'd say. You can now add the Sigma 10-18 f2.8 and soon will leave your A7IV at home because you'll wonder why you still need it. 😄
Semi decent quality??? The image that comes out of that little camera can literally rival that a74, and yea the background is just a little more blurry the the crop which with a zoom lens you can easily adjust your position video is great and colour as well, whaaaaaaaat. The only problem most ppl be having is overheating and I bearly get any a that, great review tho bro
@artbynaition1278 I have the impression you commented on the wrong comment.
thank you

why would someone watch a video that can be googled in a second.? you need to go out and do real video test, that what the viewers want. I need to know what the videos and pictures look like. the bokeh and all
