Good tips. I’ve been playing with my A6700 this week. No need to set a custom button C2 for Focus Standard to move the focus point. By default, pressing the center button on the control wheel is already set to Focus Standard which toggles the set focus point ON/OFF which allows you to move the focus point using the up/down/left/right buttons or by touch using either the touch screen or the touch pad if using the EVF. Also when the focus mode is set to Center Fix, pressing this same center button performs an AFS center focus. I left the C2 button customization to the default Focus Area while setting C3 to Focus Mode. I also activated, touch focus so regardless of what focus area is set, I can simply touch the screen or use the touch pad to move my focus point even when I am not in the set focus mode. Pressing the AF On button activates AF ON and Tracking while half pressing the shutter in AFS activates single focus. While, I wish the A6700 also had a joystick, the touch screen/touch pad gives me other ways to control the focus point besides the control wheel buttons. I can live with that. Upgrading from an A6000, I find real time tracking and AI subject recognition works really well.
Really good points here, I'll pin this to the top as I think it adds to the video. I guess there is some preference involved? I tend to like the center button to toggle zebras as it is close to the left button that I use for zebra levels. Enjoy the upgrade from the a6000. 10-bit....boom
I think it is a worthwhile investment to take the time to configure this camera to one’s preferences that fits their workflow. On my other Sony cameras, I put the zebra, peaking along with the focus map in the function menu so that’s what I did on this one as well. That works well for me. It’s also good to compare notes and see what others are doing.
tip at 3:10, exactly what i was looking for! its silly why its not all checked by default. So relieved to find out, caused me so much frustration in so many shoot!
Thank you for sharing this, as a beginner noob, I am hoping your lessons to take us from beginner to pre-intermediate with the Sony 6700. Looking forward to your videos.
Enjoy the new a6700 and there are a few videos on the channel about it, this one in particular might be worth a look: SONY a6700 SETUP ALL CINEMATIC FUNCTIONS ruclips.net/video/RL4CNxr0x1M/видео.html
Love this video! Having the option of seperate photo and video settings makes the seperate photo/video switch even better! I had this issue with my A6600 and i would constantly have to turn Picture Profile off when switching from Photo and Video (shooting in Slog-3). As I use this camera very specifically as a hybrid camera on shoots going from photo to video in a moment this has saved me soooo much time and avoiding any potential mistakes! Great video with proper explanation. You rock!
Thanks Sean , haven't seen any good cinematic videos showcasing what the a6700 can do compared to higher end full frame offerings , can you hook us up with a comparison video ?
Great tips Sean! Thanks! I just started learning about my A6700 last week. Have watched several videos and I really appreciate your take on initial settings. I feel like it adds something to my knowledge of the camera. 😁
Would you have any suggestions for choppy footage? No matter what settings I choose when using a slider my footage comes out choppy. I've watched probably a hundred videos and tried all the picture profiles with all the recommended settings that are most commonly used.
Great, however, my A6700 does Not have this Focus Standard. I went exactly on the location you mentioned. First, for me would 23/55, not 18/31, and then, on AF/MF 1 I only have Focus Mode, AF Transition Speed, AF Subj. Shift Sensitivity and AF Assist and that's it.
Hi Sean, thanks a lot for all this information. Just a remark: 10 Bit video does not work with the free version of Davinci Resolve! For someone professional, 295 USD is not a big deal, for someone on a budget or just a casual video shooter, this might be a dealbreaker. 8 Bit still is good for most situations, don' t you think?
Hello, I want to use focus stacking in studio photography. However, I will need 1.5 seconds for the flashes to charge. Is there a setting to extend the time between photo shoots? Thank you
Thanks, Asiad, always good seeing you in the comments. Some might say too many tools... I haven't figured out where it fits in the kit yet, but through making videos about it over the next few months I'll figure out where/if it fits
At the end you showed a RAW file in Lightroom. I have tried to use RAW in my a6700 but Lightroom doesn’t support them yet. How did you manage to do this?
At this point Sony has not release the software to allow the raw to function in Lightroom. Sony does have a product that you can download that will output a TIFF. I functions like LR
First time I set up my a6700 it told me that it was too hot and had to shut down... I was only in the menu settings for maybe 10-20 minutes!!! Now it stays in high.
Hey why I can’t open my video from the a 6700 , when I use 10bit 4-2-2 it’s giving me error do you think that’s a bug or I need to use one of the creators app ??
WOW -- way too fast for me to pick up some of your recommendations. It's day one with this camera and I don't have all the basic down yet. Slowing down and making sure every step is clear would be good.
I dont understand why you talk about manually setting focus. You have here in this camera the latest and best AI object focus and track tech. If you do landscape its manual focus anyway.
Not one of you better videos. You never identify which mode you're using, 'Manual' I guess. You say 'video' but I think you're in Photo? And for the world of me, I can not find 'Focus Standard' on my a6700?
I've seen mixed opinions when it comes to the ideal frame rate for RUclips content. Some say 30fps is better, some say 24 is better. This video looks great in 24, so I might just do that and save some space!

If you use Zebra mode then sean's customization is more optimal since the dial groups them easier. If don't use Zebra it doesn't matter.
I think it is a worthwhile investment to take the time to configure this camera to one’s preferences that fits their workflow. For tip one, just press the center button on the D-pad, then move with the D-pad, then press the center button again when you are finished.

Amazing setup tips for the Sony a6700, thanks for the Custom Button Cheat Sheet btw. Very efficient work flow with these settings.
Love it and happy to help, William

Really good stuff Sean . I learned a lot
Love to hear that!
I like some of your custom settings. Thanks for that
Happy to hear that, thanks for checking out the channel

Please what lens do you recommend, for this camera. The goal is to create content and photograph the family.
Quality stuff mr Gigachad
There it is 😂
😜

Great, easy to follow you!
I saw a lot of other videos, that were kinda convoluted by comparison...
Do you have any good PP settings for photography? Thanks for the video !
Sean, can you check the system that emails the custom button settings document? I've tried 3 times in the last 2 days and haven't gotten the file.
Of course - please check your inbox. All set!
Would you have any suggestions for choppy footage? No matter what settings I choose when using a slider my footage comes out choppy. I've watched probably a hundred videos and tried all the picture profiles with all the recommended settings that are most commonly used.
Very nice - Just subscribed
Thank you for subscribing! Your support means the world to me.
Hey! Is it possible to hook a tethering cable on the a6700? if so, what kind of cable tip! Thanks! Helpful video
This was so helpful! Thanks!

That’s odd. Assuming you’re in manual mode?
What's the sweet spot / max for iso on the a6700 without introducing noise ?... I would use something like the sigma or Tamron 1.4

Great video!
Good tips like always. I’m curious how you will use the different cameras you have a7 iv, zv, 6700? So many tools to create :)
Thanks, Asiad, always good seeing you in the comments. Some might say too many tools...
I haven't figured out where it fits in the kit yet, but through making videos about it over the next few months I'll figure out where/if it fits
Hello, Sean. What SD card do you recommend I buy?
A V90 OR V60 for video.
thank you very helpfull
At the end you showed a RAW file in Lightroom. I have tried to use RAW in my a6700 but Lightroom doesn’t support them yet. How did you manage to do this?
Just realized, its a photo of the a6700, so im guessing taken with a different sony camera?
You can use SONY's software (and some others) to turn the RAW into TIFF. Then all programs will be able to see the TIFF file
@@john-md Nailed it...
@@lexbraxman9270 Great info here
Caught me...busted. That was taken with the a7iv, but I'd expect Adobe to have an update for the a6700 in the VERY near future
Hello! I have a question, when I switch camera mode to one of three fast modes, I can't change shutter or aperture, any idea how to change this?
So now my question is would you buy this over the A7IV?!? Trying to decide if I should spend the extra 💵 or not.
Great video! Have you played around with the LUTS at all? I'm having trouble getting mine to load and haven't been able to find a solution.
and we should not forget about choosing NTSC mode as a step 0 :)))
If I select 100M 4:2:2 10 Bit then my PC and mobile can't play the videos. Shows some error like codec issue or not. How to resolve this?
thank you
Sony 6700 has in shooting Auto mode default setting iso auto max 6400. Is it possible to change it in shooting Auto mode?
Have you managed to set your A6700 up with a LUT while shooting in LOG? Is this not possible?
Yep - it supports in camera user LUTs and I love this feature
At this point Sony has not release the software to allow the raw to function in Lightroom. Sony does have a product that you can download that will output a TIFF. I functions like LR
can you drag the focus point on the touch screen while looking into the EVF like Panasonic cameras?
no you cant do that. if you look through the evf then the screen goes blank
First time I set up my a6700 it told me that it was too hot and had to shut down... I was only in the menu settings for maybe 10-20 minutes!!! Now it stays in high.

I’ve noticed that when looking in the viewfinder and screen, skin tones are red. When I export they look fine, is this normal?
Not at all, very odd...
Found it, “gamma assist” at some point I turned that on. I’ve watched a few of these setting videos and had turned that on for some reason.
My camera doesnt have focus standard
WOW -- way too fast for me to pick up some of your recommendations. It's day one with this camera and I don't have all the basic down yet. Slowing down and making sure every step is clear would be good.
The thing to remember 10bit you need software that will use it daVinci free version don’t use 10bit need the studio pro
Price?
You gonna tell me about that suhweet little stubby Manfrotto tripod?
Got very little of that. All too quick and indistinct.
The a6700 has a joystick?
It doesn’t
Greetings Sean. Make a video that says "How to get a sharp jawline".

Guilty.
Flicking through too quick for me.

If you want to keep me as a subscriber you're going to have to slow down. I'm looking for steps not a firehose of information. Thx.
you really no need to talk that fast
Indeed it,s a pitty he talks to fast.
dude, you have funny voice be natural!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 it's not an F16 fighter jet it's just a camera for taking photos of your family events!!!

I'm the worst and I like them both, but yea seems like it is hard to go wrong
30p for RUclips is smoother!!
