This guy is just a HERO, explained in this video what I was not able to get so far on any place in the web, we really need to thank him for sharing this acknowledge, you won't get it that easily from a professional This guy is soo underrated 🔥🔥🔥
Hey man, thanks for all the a6700 content. I'm learning a ton from you since I recently got an a6700, and I appreciated your explanation of how dual base ISO works.
Such a killer video!!! The A6700/FX30 aren't bad at all in low light. Only caveat is that Zebra values do vary depending on which LUT you use (or don't use). For example, if you shoot in SLOG3 with Gamma Display Assist, your lower limit zebra is 94+. If you put it at 100+ you will not see any zebras even if you are clipping the highlights. I use Gamma Display Assist because it's consistent across all Sony cameras and only need to worry about 2 custom zebras - 94+ for highlights and 52 +/- 1 for skin tones. Easy peezy. Keep up the AWESOME content!!
Hi, thank you for the informative comment! If one is working with s-cinetone, would Gamma Display Assist still need to be used, and what would the custom zebras be when using s-cinetone?
I've been shooting for major clients for over 40 years. From film to digital. Listen to this guy he's giving you good advice. Understand your lens your camera your lighting your exposure your composition. With digital do these things and you will never need to color correct on 99% of your jobs. The only jobs that need any color correction are those that request it up front or theatrical releases. The rest of these people out there touting all this color correction bull are wasting your time. Most of all CREATE GOOD CONTENT.
Of all the videos I've seen, yours are the ones that have helped me the most, even though I don't speak English, it helped me with the subtitles!! great video!! Does this configuration also work when there is a lot of light? I have a car detailing shop and I have a lot of lighting!! In any case I am going to put into practice what I have seen in your videos!! greetings from Mexico!!
Is the same system useful for photographs too? You indicate in yr table the "still" values 1st 100 - 2st 320. Is the benefit so important for photographs too? Thanks - Ciao from Rome
Love the channel! However I’d say the studio and parking lot with blasting light isnt lowlight. Lowlight is at a lowlit bar at night. The beach after sunset etc lol
your videos are really helpful, thanks a lot sharing the details I recently brought A6700 body and I wanted right lens for the same I am thinking to get sigma 18-70 2.8 but wondering if this can handle good on low light or artificial lighting conditions my main requirement is to take human photos and capture the family functions and sometimes outside landscapes when we travel, could you kindly share your suggestions with your expertise. Thank you very much
Do you think the a6700 is a better choice than the a7iii for video? I own the a7iii and use it still as a b cam but being an 8bit camera has me wanting to get a budget friendly 10bit camera (a6700) to pair with my a7iv.
Hi Brother, great video will deferentially try it out 👊. I’m leaning towards more videos to improve my skills. With this I can per-set most things at home with controlled light and wait for the right moment. Then I focus on capturing the right moment with my son. Off course that is like getting a feral wolf to pose 🤣 and there is no workaround for that. Thank you for the charts PS: Congrats on hitting 20 k sub 💪
This was great thanks :D Only now figuring out how to really use zebra stuff. Big jump for me with be using Slog. I have no idea how the hell to get started with it.
I have to admit I got a bit lost. Firstly, it appears you are suggesting that base ISO applies to stills along with video? Either way, I plan on shooting video using the S-Cinetone picture profile but unclear on how you know where your base ISO is in order to then select a 2nd baseline 5 levels higher?
@@seandewispelaere ah, ok, thank you. So if using s-cinetone, you are suggesting to switch the ISO to 400 given that profile had a base ISO of 125 already identified in the camera?
@@saturn_fpv Are you sure? This means if I shoot one raw image @100 iso and one with 10000. We can make the 2nd one to look like 100 iso without loosing details just because we have captured the raw data? I don't think so.
would you say fullframe is superior in low light? i love the a6700 but as an event/ nightlife videographer low to barely no light ability is crucial to me. especially as light conditions are not consistent at all with strobe lights
Would you please explain how to set up the center and left buttons for displaying zebras and setting levels. My camera can't figure out how to do this(can't be user error because Sony menus are perfect.)
Is the Baseline Iso only for video? I'm a photographer (not a videographer) so this isn't making sense to me based on the "SLOG, etc." Could you explain how this works with stills?
Hi, so just to clarify. If I was filming someone with dark skin tone, then I would need to set my zebra levels to 40 to ensure I didn’t overexpose their skin?
Ez egy nagyon fontos videó. Ha fotózáshoz is tudnál tanácsot adni azt nagyon megköszönném. Jelenleg küzdök a zajosodással. Szerintem indokolatlanul magas a zaj a fotóimon. Hogy működik ez a dual ISO? Működik ez fotózásnál is? Hol lehet bekapcsolni? Pontosan melyik értékeknek van dual ISO párja? This is a very important video for me! Could you help my with photos too? I would really appreciate it. I'm currently struggling with noise. I think the noise in my photos is unreasonably high. How does this dual ISO work? Does this also work for photography? Where can I turn it on? Which values exactly have a dual ISO pair?
just subscribed! btw u know that a74 can not just turn off the focus beep sound without turning off the shutter sound.I'm just wondering that if there is any way can ONLY turn off focus beep and keep the shutter sound on a7c2? thx alot
So if 2500 is 5 stops above 800, would it make sense that ISO 2000 (800 + 4 stops) would have the same noise as ISO 6400 (2500 + 4 stops)? If so, would 800-6400 be a good range to shoot with (not ideal but Max)?
I wanted to love this camera for making low light short films, but it's terrible and NEEDS post noise reduction which is a bummer. Tested it with slog3 - f1.4 lens 1/48 shutter 2500 second base ISO, even over exposing scenes with studio lights at +1.7 just to keep the second base ISO of 2500, there's still tons noticeable noise and especially color noise in the shadows. Yes, I've tested the same shot with an super old A7iii and that produced zero noise, so it's definitely not my settings or the lighting setup. Definitely disappointing, hence I'll be switching over to the ZV-E1 and from all the videos I've seen on your ch about it. I know it's going to be a beast for low light.
Im confused. So are we only supposed to use ISO 800 & 2500 for SLOG3? But you mentioned we can get the ISO higher? Like 12800? So as long as I go above 2500?
Actually the a6700 is REALLY good in low light ONLY if you shoot under 500 ISO. BUT here comes the BIG PROBLEM!!! You don't see anything on the display If you put the Auto ISO from 100 to 6400 max. The display is okand you can see what are you shooting, but the shots are really noisy and blurry. Which means for events this camera is kind of bad. If you want to have amazing sharp photos, get ready to shoot on a black display
I felt the same way. What helped me is looking up the terminology of certain words to learn and understand what they mean and getting a better understanding. Once you do that with a few terms that get repeated in these videos watch them again and you’ll better understand it.
Where have been my whole life? Saved me so much time on research thank you.

XD
We were told there was dual native ISO of 800 and 2500. We WEREN'T told that was only for SLOG. Very helpful video. Subscribed.
dude you nailed this video! you clarified and answered quite a few pain points I have been struggling with on my a6700! thank you!

Tip 4: Temporal denoising in editing? Though if the others work this well maybe it's not needed.
False color has given me consistent results on my FX30.

Thanks for the ISO chart! I wish Sony would simply make these base ISO recognizable.

Where does the baseline ISO start with RAW photos? And is there a dual baseline too?
Insane quality
Thank you 💯
Thanks for breaking it down...

hi exellent video , which lens do you use?
Nice one! How did you get the screen effect in the 50th sec?
Thanks and I might need to make a video to explain that

how big is the difference between 3200ISO and 2500ISO when shooting in lowlight for A6700?

Either way, I plan on shooting video using the S-Cinetone picture profile but unclear on how you know where your base ISO is in order to then select a 2nd baseline 5 levels higher?
Should have clarified that the dual iso is for video only. S-Cinetone base is 125 so the 2nd is 400. Should have all of that outlined on the chart 🤙
@@seandewispelaere ah, ok, thank you. So if using s-cinetone, you are suggesting to switch the ISO to 400 given that profile had a base ISO of 125 already identified in the camera?
Does the second-baseline discussion also apply to stills? If so, where in the menu is it set?
yea, this is something I can't figure out either.
If you shoot in RAW, which you should, then ISO doesn't matter.

Have you ever tried shooting the interior of a car under low light with Sony APSC CAMERA using this method? Where would be the skin tones?
I haven’t but I’d pick a white decal or something and get that to 95 IRE and then you should be good
Would you please explain how to set up the center and left buttons for displaying zebras and setting levels. My camera can't figure out how to do this(can't be user error because Sony menus are perfect.)

I am curious to know if you slowed down you video? When I play at x1 it feels slow, when I play at 1.25x it feels normal
For me, the base ISO is 200 in SLOG-3. Am I doing something wrong?
Do you think the zv-e10 mark ii will be similar to the 6700?

I need the answer to this question

The Sony 16 - 55 f2.8

That rule (5 clicks): for all Sony's cameras?

Maybe the fx30?
Why Sony not tell us officially about the second base ISO
