This is an awesome video! Love the drone footage and the time lapse filming. What a stunning spot to camp and the walk you all went on looked amazing, isolated with stunning scenery - a winning combination. Thanks for taking us along on your family adventures.
thanks, yea an awesome spot fo camp for free for sure. We really liked how quite and remote it was, it's always great to look out at nature and it's not filled with houses and hotels aye. Beautiful part of NZ.
Lake Ohau is beautiful. I didn't go as far in as you guys...I stayed at Lake Middleton, but the views from the top of the village are incredible...360% of mountains and lakes. You guys are living the dream😁😁😁
It was a really nice spot to camp, so quiet and peacful, Lake Middleton is Beautiful on a still morning reflecting the ranges. We got some footage of that in a upcoming video.
Ohau is a fantastic place to camp. We have camped at Lake Middleton over the years but gets busy over the Xmas break. The Temple Basin walk is a nice walk. That drone is worth its weight in gold you get a totally different perspective from up above. A walk up the Ohau ski field road may have given you some snow to play in. Another great video Mike👍
Cheers mate, yip Mavora lakes and glenorchy are is on the list of places, likely get to those spots in sept I reckon we'll see how we go. Def looking forward to some snow soon though.
Hello from Ohio. Love everything about your channel. Love the music. Love the drone shots. Love that Toby has to rearrange the rocks by the water. Love the meals you cook. Love how you try to include the kids in the videos. Blessing to your family.
Definitely not the best mate, I got a few favorites... the hoar frost one, out at Lake camp in the Ashburton lakes, or is there something in particular you liked about this one?
@@leopardsgowild Probably my favourite as I lived near Omarama for a few years and spent lots of time driving around the MacKenzie area before I retired.
Yea looked like the access for a large caravan was a bit average though... Some beautiful reflections of the mountains. An upcoming video is us returning for an over night tramp up the South Temple valley.
Awesome Drone footage, great to see from a different view. Have been to the Lake Ohau area but not seen the aerial views you show, stunning 👍😀 Thank you for sharing 👍
That area certainly does have some beauty and beast (Sandflies 🤬). It was a shame there wasn't any snow, especially after being kind of promised it! OMG that water was cold, the sea must have been really cold 🥶
great episode leopards!! i just watched another documentary on the south island, so crazy what those moubtains do to the weather!! literally in the middle of no where,, hope all is well, cheers brother
Did you have a look at Huxley lodge? Just north of the temple its the old school camp. Also on the other side of the lake there is a very cool hut with a good track up from it. Well worth putting sleeping bags and a load of wood in the ute for a nights trip.
Was still a great spot despite missing the snow. That valley has quite a Molesworth feel to it. There's a light dusting of snow on the Kaikoura hills this morning.
Oh man this campsite was awesome... The snow is far far away from us here in Mac Kenzie land lol... Back in the Hoar frosts tonight. Shes freezing. Hope you have a good time in Kaikoura.
We wondered about getting up there... I ran a bit of the way up the ski field road, the snow was so minimal... We know we will get our big snow dump some time this winter and when it's coming we'll head in to it lol..
What beautiful backcountry, shame you didn't get the snow you were chasing but then again you were able to explore the valley. You kids must eat a ton of food with all the big walks you get to go on
Mate, they eat us out of house and home thats for sure... They definately are goers, they will be fast cross country runners when they are your kids ages... Def a beautiful part of New Zealand.

Lol... I think the ocean where I swam has some more direct Antarctica currents lol... I bet those lakes are way colder now...

Shes a Gnarly stretch of land mate, rugged and awesome, not to many people live close to these mountains.

No Huxley lodge for us, we did go for an overnight up the South Temple valley though, that video is still to come.
I was sure you would have been caught on that snow. Plenty of winter yet!
Yea I think this area is renowned for being skipped
@@leopardsgowild It was like that I Edinburgh. It could snow all round the city, but not inEdinburgh
And yet another great episode. One quick question if I may: what's the music playing from 9:07? TIA.
Thanks Dorian, I had a look the some is called 'better halves' by humming house
@@leopardsgowild Many thanks Mike. Stay warm ... howdy from chilly Springfield (Canterbury).
