And the "context" is totally false, humanity is NOT the reason why the climate has changed (if it even has, it's very debatable). The climate has been very cold and also very warm throughout human history way way before the evil burning of fossil fuels/gas/whatever. People don't seem to realize just how little CO2 we actually have in our atmosphere.

It's clear to me after watching this interview, that Destiny has his mind set on a lot of this and he will not stray from what he's told by the mainstream. Thinking for himself is what he apparently does, so I'm quite confused.
Depends what you mean by the mainstream. The current "mainstream" is western governments backed by the best universities in the world. Do you honestly think JP or anyone else is more intelligent than all of those educational and government systems? These guys do it day in, day out. Unlike JP who has an interest and 7 different business ventures ongoing as well as tour.
Im inclined to trust 99% of western universities and the consensus of western governments over Jordan and yourself.

If Hollywood celebrities truly cared about man-made global warming, they would stop making movies. Movie's do nothing important, they just provide entertainment, but think of all the massive amount of carbon put out when making a movie. All the planes, trucks, constructions, etc. For what? In South Africa, the government fails to produce enough electricity for the entire country. Thus everyone takes turns using it in a process called "Loadshedding".
Obviously people aren't happy with this and thus many people have invested in their own power production, the favoured being solar due to our agreeable weather year round.
Over the past few years solar grew to account for about 6.2 gigawatts of power.
In summary. Renewable energy now powers the equivalent of several power stations and is pretty much the sole reason our grid hasn't completely collapsed.
So in other words, solar CAN and DOES produce enough energy not only to pay for itself but to help keep an entire electrical grid online when only used on the residential level.

As a German citizen, I want to clarify a few things that I find very misrepresented in this discussion by Peterson (and even Destiny to some degree):
1) Shutting down nuclear power plants in Germany was not a decision by the radical left or radical 'greens'
2) Shutting down nuclear barely affected the electricity costs in Germany in 2023 (5x cheaper claim is absolutely ridiculous)
3) Germany does not NEED foreign electricity (it can produce all its needs) but choses to because of pricing. And renewable energy is the overall winner here.
4) The net import from France in 2023 was 0,4 TwH whereas from Denmark (78% renewable) and Norway (110% renewable) it was over 15 TwH, which is more than the overall net import for Germany (12,6 TwH). So no, Germany is not reliant on France's nuclear power, but takes advantage of it's cheaper price during certain times, but more so uses cheap renewable energy from the Scandinavian countries.
5) German CO2 emissions in 2023 were the lowest in 70 years. To be fair, it was in part due to a less active industrial sector, but still renewables (in Germany and Europe as a whole) helped.
6) In 2023, Germany lowered their use of coal and lignite significantly.
A little in depth extra info:
Regarding 1)
The decision to slowly fade out nuclear power in Germany started in 2002, by the government that (back then for the first time) was a coalition of the 'green party' and the social democrats. This was by no means a radical government, but a reaction to a somewhat critical view of the technology because of its big drawbacks: the lack of a secure long term storage of nuclear waste and the potential disaster from a malfunction (as Germans first hand experienced with Tchernobyl).
In 2010, the more conservative government decided to slow the process of phasing out nuclear and give more time to strengthen renewable energy first.
In 2011, Fukushima happened and the parliament (under a conservative government!) agreed with a clear majority to shut down 8 of it's old power plants more or less immediately.
Until 2019 they shut down 3 more nuclear power plants.
In 2023 only two remaining power plants were running and were ultimately shut down, having added only 6% to the total energy production in 2022 anyway.
Leaving these old power plants running would have also meant considerable costs in maintenance and upgrading equipment.
Yes, older nuclear power plants provide some of the cheapest electricity out there, but at some point the maintenance becomes expensive and security risk higher. Fun fact, if you factor in a possible event like Fukushima into electricity costs, nuclear wouldn't even be comparable).
Regarding 2) Germany's electricity prices became more expensive because of a number of factors. A major one being the Ukraine war and the lack of Russian gas. Also, very dry summers lead to nuclear power plants being shut down in France and hydro power plants in Austria not working well. Some people like to focus on exploding gas prices, which did happen, due to the war. This was mainly a problem for households which are 71% reliant on gas and oil for heating as well as the industrial sector using gas a lot. More cheap energy from nuclear power plants would have helped marginally in reducing the overall gas price, but not considerable.
Regarding 3) The whole reason Germany imports electricity from Denmark and Norway is because it's cheaper than the competition (despite being renewable). Germany exported almost as much energy (60 TwH) in 2023 as it imported (70 TwH). It's a price game like trading stocks. A higher amount of import just says which country has more affordable energy.

It shows that the concept of building more and more renewable energy works in Europe and is economically competitive and even beneficial.

The question I would have asked is do you think the worlds poorest billion people would be happy for their children and their children’s, children to starve and freeze for something that you’re guessing “might” happen in 100 years. It’s a very easy argument to make when you live in abundance and I don’t think they will take solace in the idea that you would be tightening your belt to when economically speaking you’re already obese.

Jordan's point about the location of temperature sensors is the only point that matters. We haven't really been measuring temperature over 100 years in a repeatable way. The uncertainty is larger than the change we are trying to detect.
When thermometers compromised by the urban heat island effect are removed from the dataset, it becomes clear that temperature has increased only slightly since the start of the industrial revolution (with a multidecade cycle superimposed over the same time frame). Thus, claims of warming are derived from compromised temperature data. Sadly, data tampering has also been employed to align temperature increases with CO2 increases. $$ and politics have compromised scientific inquiry...a truly sad reality.
The whole methodology is faulty. Why are we averaging the entire planet, or even large nations? I remember one "hottest year evah" where the planet cooled slightly but the Arctic warmed from -38F to -32F (still far below freezing) and this skewed the entire average up.

It’s not the governments job to tax sin. You shouldn’t be punished by the state for spending your money unwisely.
I agree with Dr. Peterson on most things, but here I differ. Where I agree: Fixing climate change 50 years from now with solutions today is pointless. This is a basic tenant of Chaos theory, "the deterministic nature of these systems does not make them predictable". Where I disagree: We should still pursue clean energy and a better future. Why? Because we are humans and we put humans on the surface of the moon, and that's cool.

Great conversation here. One little thing I want to point out is about the example that Dr. Peterson is using with Germany and the rising cost of energy due to government intervention. This may not be the best one as other external factors have to be considered. But I believe the same argument could be made with an opposite example, namely complete deregulation, that is well know to Dr. Peterson could be made. The premise under which deregulation will lead to cheaper goods or services, especially in the energy sector hasn’t been up to the task. Alberta energy sector was deregulated years ago, but this year the same conservatives are backtracking due to the cost of energy skyrocketing since deregulation.
My take is that as much as I don’t want to see a big government, a minimal amount or more effective regulation is needed. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing and the regulations can come from different levels or another one. The job of government shouldn’t be of taking over a sector but rather to be the referee; set minimal rules and step aside.
After reading the comments, I can see critical thinkers and I can see the blind who depends on Corporate Media information.

When Peterson says the margin of error of the climate models increases to the point that no prediction can be made, he confuses weather models with climate models. They are very different. What he says only applies to weather. It's surprising that he hasn't learned this yet. When it comes to economics, who knows? Maybe we will figure out a way to prosper for the hundreds of millions of people that would have to leave everything and become refugees because it is impossible to survive without water, food and reasonable temperatures and humidity. Maybe the developed countries can take on a few million refugees per year. That could work right? That wouldn't be expensive or anything.
Why has no climate model ever successfully predicted climate?
Call me crazy, but shouldn't at least one of these two be a climate scientist to talk about this deeply-scientific matter?

South Australia has tried to prove to the world a state can run 100% on renewable energy. We have the highest energy prices in the world, we had state wide blackouts for 2 days, we have rolling blackouts in the city every night, rural areas can be without power for days at a time, industry is leaving the state because their energy bills are through the roof. We have an abundance of natural resources that we mine and ship overseas, but no way would we do anything to reduce the prices for the state population. We also buy a lot of our energy from other states. It's gone beyond a joke and is just plain corruption now.

All the east coast states are part of the grid. All states buy and sell based on how much they are currently producing and need. Blackouts would have been for another reason. Probably underfunding of transmission maintenance.

This couldn’t be further from the truth. Solar energy is SO productive that it creates a duck curve. This is a real problem as over generation causes severe strain on the grid.

When he debated Sean Fitzgerald, he didn't know the academic origins, development cycle, and current practice of Critical Race Theory, and still tried to debate about it with him, so he got his ass destroyed. In later videos, he specifically mentions these things when talking about Critical Race Theory, and tried to argue that they were at WORST a moral nullification because they could supply good things like perspective, etc. Completely invalidating that they are not critical thinking processes and focusing on their producing results that he agrees with.

Excellent response. I totally agree with what you’re saying. To do those measurements there must be set parameters. And the accuracy of the outcome would depend on the set parameters. Weather is not like that. Weather is continually changing its parameters. One of the major shifts and weather throughout history has been caused by volcanic eruptions. Massive eruptions have actually plunged the temperatures into 18 months of winter like weather. This is happened twice in written history. Just a small release of volcanic ash and gases exceeded the amount of carbon that humans have produced in their entire existence. I totally concur with the fact that we do not have winters like we used to have when I was young. However, the changes that are proposed to be made to reduce carbon emissions are plunging people into poverty and food deprivation. I think certainly in the near future, we will find a fuel source that far exceeds oil in economic value and renewability. I think patience with vigorous research for new technology at this point, is the best option.
To be fair, as any climate "scientist" will tell you, climate is not the same as weather.
If you compare it to the stock market, weather is like the daily reports where things go up and down, much more volatile in that scope, where climate would be the 10, 20, 30 year overall trend of the market, so it's not useful to equate the 2.
Having said that, they are still wrong about their climate predictions because, unlike the markets where you are either going up or down, climate has many variables that are trending and they all influence each other. It's a FAR more complex problem.

Trying to predict the chaotic nature of the climate future in 100 years is like setting the parameters at 1-b. We don't know what we don't know about the climate, we don't even know what we actually know. Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant, it is plant food and in turn food for everything else too. It is naturally in the air and even now only in a trace amount of 400ppm or 0.04% It's worth noting that below 0.02% all plants die and all of us with them.
The real issue is that now with carbon dioxide being labeled a pollutant then every single person on Earth is a small pollution factory. Well if your mandate is to reduce pollution the road to justifying, shall we say..."direct" population reduction become very much shorter than anyone wants to think.
