I'm 52 seconds in, I already feel these guys are not going to debate anything worth debating.
Destiny unwittingly damaged his argument that Trump seriously planned an insurrection by pointing out that none of Trump's own picks actually supported his election contentions. A true insurrectionist would have picked the right people to carry out his demands the first time.

in my opinion Lex is the real MVP here. This is the first i have watched, and now have subscribed. i have never and i mean never seen a debate handled with such care and neutrality. It might not look like he does not do much but the man has reached the level cap in facilitation. I think that bad debates can be attributed to poor one sided facilitation and or cutting in and stopping the arguing party mid argument, it breeds frustration and can affect the mental state and the clear thinking of the debaters. It’s really a sign of how messed up things are that the majority of comments are people saying how amazing it is that two adults are talking…like adults.
It's because these two have studied the facts and have formed their own opinions. While the rest of society consume opinions then formulate their facts
@@jamescarbon3853 if you hit reply please reply to what I wrote, otherwise just comment on the video
@@jamescarbon3853I mean you’re not wrong implying that most people form an opinion then gather facts, but Ben Shapiro is one of them. I agree with him on almost everything, but when it comes to Israel, he time and time again exposes his opinion in the face of facts. To the contrary of facts. For me this was enough to stop following him. There are other people out there with a soul, with a heart, that have the same domestic ideas as him. Ben is a smart man, but that doesn’t make him right all the time.
On the Israel Palestine conflict, Ben is over his head and completely misguided and misinformed

This is what a true debate is like. Not yelling over each other, throwing insults, etc. You can hear both Ben and Destiny debate their points and at the end of each segment, both can admit to agreeing to each others points in some way or another. There's no egotistical view that they MUST BE RIGHT at all costs.

i can't explain how refreshing it is to listen to a debate where when one person is speaking, not a single word comes out of the other one until their name is called and their opponent is finished. they just silently sit and write down points to rehash on when it's their turn but there's no interrupting, or like back and forth yelling or emotions. seriously so god damn refreshing
Fortunately Shapiro isn’t formulating foreign policies. He has the audacity to condemn the Houties and support the U.S. & British bombings thus espousing ultra right wing political ideology.
now lets look at the hasan card
Yes, very nice to see, you actually get to hear every point.
Did you actually watch the entire thing?

@@richardhands904Having a mix is definitely good.
no insults?!? Ben called Destiny a Republican in the fist minute!! haha
Except if Alex Jones or Trump are participating
This was a fantastic discussion. The world needs so much more of this. Talking and keeping human connection in the face of different views and values is vital to society.
What I like about this debate is that tho they disagree on pretty much like 80-90% of things as well as even proved one another wrong on some topics off and on is that they definitely seem to respect and like one another. Which shows that regardless of your political belief, people can come together and respect/like one another ultimately. I could be wrong but that’s what I’m picking up from this
Imagine if this was the type of discussion we had in Congress. Our country would be so much better.
Isnt it amazing that this discussion is free? They have real jobs. The time and money wasted in u.s government constant tug of war is just wild
Regardless of Biden or trump, you have two people who understand. We could never hope for so much in any country.
yes. left and right thinkers alike. and I personally would rather see them on the same debate team. Defending Israel for example.
@@tnndll4294 lets be honest they are on the same team.
People in Congress can't have this type of discussions because they represent interests they can't openly admit to. This is why most people think politicians are idiots who don't make much sense. They do if you consider it's a balancing act between saving face in front of voters and pleasing their masters, whoever they are.
Otherwise politicians are pretty smart. We just don't see it.

I think anyone that thought going in to this that there'd be anything other than well reasoned arguments and respectful dialogue hasn't watched very much of their content.
Here is what I have to say about education. I want to agree with destiny, but here are the problems.
1. What will they be taught? Western thought? Eastern thought? Marxism? We would HAVE to teach Western thought because the Constitution is based on Hume or Neo-platonism philosophy.
2. Bring back trades in schools.
Amazing. Thank you for giving us this, Lex! It’s a breath of fresh air.
This was a debate where both parties looked like they were having fun.
Incredible thing to watch.
I also think that despite their differences they actually respect and like one another.
It was actually a healthy debate and disagreement. As observers we didn't witness petulant smears, but an exchange of views and informations such as we now should have a better understanding not just of the topic but of the predominant views represented by these "sides".
Its stuff like this that makes diversity a strength.
Hoping for more destiny Shapiro content in the future but who knows
It's a little uncanny and a bit concerning that when previewing comments before I dive into the video, almost every comment is gushing about how wonderful it is that the conversation is civil. While I understand and sympathize with the overwhelming desire to have grounded conversations considering the state of public discourse...everywhere, this is a 2.5 hour video and the top comments are priming me to expect that very little of substance will be in the video itself because all the comments are ONLY about how civil the conversation was. Normally in videos, comments are filled with people zoning in on specific topics that get mentioned, discussing the specifics of what one person or another has said and either picking it apart or responding to it by adding further clarifying details.
When I sorted comments by new, things were a lot more specific and came across a lot less...performative/masturbatory, which made me more excited for the video. But the whole thing does scratch at a suspicion I've had for a while now that because our public platforms for discourse is so awful, some people conflate more heated discussions with bad faith discussions because people tend to get angry and heated when their opponents argue in bad faith. And depending on who you agree with, you won't notice the bad faith habits of your ideological ally in the debate but will notice all the bad faith arguments of your ideological opponent, which is why most modern debates are associated with performative rage-bait and polarizing audiences into even smaller echo chambers.
Throw in the fact that one side or another might start screaming back in bad faith defensively because the other side started it first, the whole thing turns into a mess really quickly. But good faith heated debates also happen, especially when serious topics are discussed. In fact, if people aren't getting a little heated in discussions about really serious topics, it's kind of a red flag indicating the possibility that the aesthetics of civility is more important than the lives affected by the politics being discussed. You run into a similar echo chamber problem running into reverse--whereas bloodsport debates are useless because nothing gets done, with the target audience being people addicted to rage, a debate running purely on civility politics becomes useless because both sides go out of their way to not challenge their opponents, to avoid controversial topics, etc etc. Anyone who cares about the subjects at hand usually end up not being the target audience--and the people who enjoy the debates are people who see politics as a game rather than a force controlling the lives of millions, often threatening their ability to survive.
I'm honestly a bit pessimistic about how this video will turn out. I hope very much I'll be proven very wrong and feel very silly by the end of it.
@@Hoberpopkin That was entirely too much to write before ever watching the fucking video. Jesus, STFU and watch it. It's Destiny and Ben Shapiro, if you think they won't have passion just because people said they liked the discourse, you don't know these two..... They live for this shit.

I'm looking through these comments for what one person said and it's COMPLETELY OVERSHADOWED by "oMg what a healthy conversation!"
I don't care! Yes, these are two people who realize civility looks good, now can we talk about what was said?!
I think the biggest part that also drives this debate is that they find common ground, and see where their similarities in idea are. It’s important to separate facts and common ground from opinions to keep the debate healthy. It’s about the ideas they believe, and not the person themselves.
Honestly, we need more of this in everyday life and universities. It’s important to band together as US citizens, voice our concerns, but also find common ground to make sure everyone can prosper.

Finally a conversation between people from across the political aisle without constant interrupting and name calling and cheap insults, just comparing each other's ideas and trying to see where the other stands in relation to them. These kinds of conversations is what we need in an increasingly divisive world instagated by social media. It's certainly way more constructive than the 10,000th "Ben Shapiro DESTROYS leftie college student" debate about the culture war.
I had some buddies tell me it was boring and I laughed. This is how the conversation should look, if you want children arguing then watch actual politians. LOL @countbaldwin - Great comment!
I wouldn't call Destiny a far leftist
I mean, you could label this one as "Ben Shapiro DESTROYS leftie cuckold" and it would still be accurate. Destiny spent at least 30 minutes whining about a merry go round when he was the one driving the carousel.
Destiny didn't do any better except maybe studied before the debate since it was a predetermined debate. Its such a breath of fresh air to leave a debate and NOT be either frustrated, annoyed, or left learning absolutely nothing .
You guys did a great job. Very respectful.
Thanks for your comment, we deposited your shekels in your account. Sincerely, Dem boys.
Nice! Did you change your mind about any of the topics discussed or did you find despite convincing arguments and it being a "breath of fresh air" that you still believe in exactly the same things you did prior to the video?
Indeed!
@zipzzo Could you possibly have worded that more passive-aggressively lmao

This was so amazing, thank you to everyone involved in making this happen. We need more intelligent, respectful, and honest discourse between opposing views on topics like these on the internet and beyond.
I love that the moderation was only there to ask questions, and these two allowed each other to make their points. Can you imagine if this was the standard for a presidential debate? We might be able to actually have an informed vote.
Lex is the man!
Oh it should be... But the people in the debate can be the issue
Not likely to happen cuz these 3 men are very intelligent, articulate, and respectful individuals. I'm not saying they are saints or care particularly about every person, but these guys are relatively fair level headed and real. The personalities that usually succeed in US politics today are sensationalist demagogues who function on mob mentality and will say whatever they have to WIN PEROID.

A Great conversation.
This is glorious. If only everyone could speak to each other with this much knowledge and respect. ❤
I love how they're both very respectful and take the time to listen to each other's arguments. All while coming up with a well though-out rebuttal without attacking the individual. Kudos to both
best debate I've listened to
Kudos for being a grown man having a respectful conversation? The world is doomed we gotta praise the bare minimum, it’s the equivalent to a woman saying she’s independent
It was kind of mind numbing. The whole thing was Ben saying what he thought, destiny saying he doesn't agree, then Ben rebutting, then destiny saying he agrees 100% with Ben... Butttttt

Actually getting to watch 2 people finish their topics with neither of them interrupting each other? WTF IS THIS? Love when people can actually get their full point across without getting interrupted. It makes for a good debate.
Thinking Ben Shapiro has a point lol.
What are you talking about, Destiny wouldn't shut the fck up when Ben tried to answer questions, especially about foreign policy. Kept saying "one more question" or "one last time" and kept trying to deflect the conversation on what VERY little Biden did. Very annoying.
@@calvinhobbes5524 cope
to be fair they are both agreeing on a lot of things so ig the mutual respects comes from it
Ben has a persona to protect and maintain while Steven likes to do a lot of research not only about the topics but the person he is going to debate with.
you wont see Ben going beast mode yelling at people unless you watching tiktok "destroy" complications of rare occasions where ig he some sort of been rude back to someone else who was definitely rude.
sure I wish every debate would go peacefully but you cant deny that if you are not already well known on media having heated debates can and will bring more views
Disagree. Destiny was constantly interrupting with vocalizations. He wasn't butting in with disagreements but it's not the same is not interrupting.
Best debate I’ve ever seen, I love watching Ben and Destiny.
they're plainly on the same team
But they aren’t tho? They have extremely different views on Trump v Biden and Jan 6. I don’t think these were covered in the debate, but their views on religion, abortion, and immigration are not the same at all. Just because they both are more on the Israel side (even then with many disagreements), they have completely different social and political values. Just because the debate wasn’t a screaming match doesn’t mean they agree.
@@hunningtonnuo9213Destiny has major TDS. He makes solid points here and there, then all of the sudden he says Donald Trump will become a dictator who will abolish elections and rule forever.
That is not a reasonable opinion to have, only someone with full blown TDS would say that with a straight face.
You haven't been paying attention lol
Man, I wish this could have been 5 hours long. Loved listening to all of this. Please bring them both back soon!
It was 5 hrs.... they just both speak at 2.5 times speed
@@RustCole01Fuck! I clicked this comment just to say this.
I stopped listening at 2 hours. One of the most useless debates. Yes they are both highly opinionated and very educated on what they are opinionated 6 what a waste of such inelligence. Such surface level conversations. Why are people still debating about and defending evils of any kind. Let's move past the lesser of two evils. There are far more important conversations going on like the evolveing of mind and spirit. People are actually having deeper conversations about how the next 2k years are going to pan out and these two are worried about the past.
@@CasuallyAuthenticThis is such a childish view on what makes a deeper conversation. They discussed their own philosophies, how to they view education(which effects the next generation) their analysis of the last two presidential terms which are going to have impacts for years to come not to mention this years election, Their views on two wars which affect millions if not billions of people, about institutions in America and how they view the future of human relationships. While there are many more topics to discuss and each of these topics they could both go into more depth on to say this was surface level compared to some nonsensical view on a future we could never predict is insane
@killtheo8894 as I said, very surface level. And your statements only backs that up. I understand that you don't agree, we all have different levels of intellect. Sorry to have offended you to make you ironically call me childish. I think we're beyond being offended and offending because of different opinions. It no longer serves us. I personally just want some intellects with platforms to have deeper conversations, but then again, maybe they are just stuck in the old way too. By the way, you never did say why my opinion was childish...
This was probably my favorite debate I’ve listened to in a while. Both were very respectful, made solid arguments on either side, pretty much no interruptions or speaking over each other, and everything flowed well.

Lex proves literally anyone can do podcasts interviews
Nope. Someone like Tim Pool would constantly be interjecting, taking up half of the air time for himself.
(I still like Tim Pool though)
I usually don´t like debates because they often turn into a rhetorical battle with little political/philosophical substance. This debate however was an example of how a debate should be done. You state WHAT you think, you explain WHY you think what you think. The other party then state what they agree/disagree on, and why that is.
Exactly. Ben shapiro has so much "i believe, because of my narrow belief system, that if everyone was like me, we'd be better off." Ok ben, in a microcosm where every person was just you, i'm sure this would all work. but it's not like that." Ben has such rudimentary fundamentals, it's literally talking to an amish guy who can't even speak english. Ben doesn't know anything besides money and "core values.???"
And debates are supposed to be like this. Subject matter...each person answers question. Then they debate their points. May the best person win.
Yes, but destiny doesn't even know what he believes. He say something stupid, gets destroyed, and then moves onto another stupid point. Clown show
Doesn't matter if what you believe in is stupid which is the case for both of these creeps

This is low-key how presidential debates should be throughout the entire four years before election
these people should run for president. but the broader political system would crush them.
Joe would fall asleep 10 minutes in, lol🤣
You want an incumbent president to waste their term having debates like this instead of running the country?
If only presidential candidates were as cordial and respectful as Ben and Destiny. Sadly most people who seek political office are power hungry and not decent people.
What does the term low-key mean? Did it replace “true” as the next generation’s nonsensical overused catchy sounding word?
U can see these two men have great respect for each other
Destiny didn't have that much respect for Jordan Peterson, who thinks more before talking. Ben is closer in style with Destiny, both fast talkers.
@@han1218Destiny learned from Peterson not to “play games”.
When Destiny starts losing, he starts dragging the debate off the rails to where he says things like, “how do you know the sun will rise tomorrow”.
And Destiny’s fans will think he is the next Aristotle for asking that. 😂
I hereby nominate ale for the Nobel Peace Prize. This is the most civil conversation between these two major ideologies I’ve seen for as long as I can remember . The shear number of issues that remain unresolved between these ideologies was astounding. And yet, the number of times they agreed was admirable of all parties.

@@RedPillAlways how? I saw Destiny destroying Shapiro on every issue.
@@RedPillAlways @kerzytibok3211 I think it was pretty balanced, both had their moments. I would say that for education Ben did a much better job claiming ground that both would agree on and put it in opposition to Destinys points. I don't think Destiny should have accused Ben of trying to switch the topic as Ben clearly stated he sees it as the foundational issue (2 parent households). Destiny should have stresses that the absence of food safety and AC in schools is not just a needle but rather just as big of an issue when neglected. Even the kids with supportive parents would struggle greatly when the classroom gets too hot a few months out of the year and when they have to go hungry at times, it is actually a huge affect, which is why it is a no brainer to eliminate these issues in all schools. Ben did a much better job there representing his side.
