Robert Rodgers I agree as well....with Robert and F. Clark....Somehow some folks seem to think that the "issue" is somehow going to go away, if the pass "something", anything...against MArriage Equality. They say that the LGBT population is a small fraction of the population, OK,, and still the MAJORITY of the POPULATION as a WHOLE is well over 60% nationwide FOR IT.....that would mean that the MAJORITY that is FOR IT...is MOSTLY "so-called" STRAIGHT population....that said.....should tell us something. That the MAJORITY of our Populace WANTS and NEEDS and DESERVES Marriage Equality across the board, full and complete. THANKS ALSO....and Hats off to MATT for his weekly reports....YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!
It's amazing to actually be proud of being ignorant(George Bush). I know that it is difficult, but it's important for intelligent people to remain in the South, if possible. Courage!
Frugal Traveller If that is your view of marriage then you don't. But how exactly do you get God to officiate your marriage? If you want legal rights then yes you will need a state license.
It isn't necessary to have a ceremony in order to get married. A man and woman can simply pray and tell God they intend to marry, and they will be married in the eyes of God. This is because God dwells in each of us, and marriage is a covenant between Him and husband and wife. As for legal rights, why would you need those? God knows you are married, and that's all what really matters.
Frugal Traveller You don't need legal rights if you feel that way, just as one does not need have a convenant with God. But in a society of laws it can make life easier.
Marriage isn't about convenience, or making life easier... It's about sacrifice and taking up your cross. The "old ball and chain" is what marriage is about.
Frugal Traveller For you perhaps. Many situations become fraught with difficulty and inconvenience if we adopt your position. eg. making health decisions for your spouse in an emergency.
As far as I am concerned you are a "saint", your comments, attitude and information allow me to believe that in the 21th century we will "overcome"...

I'm actually for the states getting out of marriage business every last one
Why are Southerners always the last to deal with equality?

Curiouser and curiouser....
Nothing bigot about ending marriage license
Why do we need a state license to marry, anyway? Marriage is a covenant between man, woman, and God.
