Its a recording of button presses that are applied to the game (as a ROM in an emulator). It isn't exactly a 'program' playing it... rather, a person played this game himself, using save states and playing at frame-by-frame speeds to ensure the maximum performance possible as allowed by the game itself. This is perfection, and completely POSSIBLE to do on the game. Of course, no human has such incredible speed or reaction time.
this is a TAS run meaning he did it all at possibly less than 10% speed and repeatedly until he got it all perfect. It could be segmented over months and strung into the video that you see above.
Also, though you might not have to be some God to put together a well-done TAS, it still takes a considerable amount of time and patience to put them together. I wouldn't say it's a completely talentless affair.
He's playing the game. The "tool assisted" part means he's using save states and abusing frames to have super human reaction times, but he's still doing everything manually.
For all you fellow Mega Man fans out there, just wanted to let you know about Keiji Inafune's new game "Mighty no. 9", a spiritual successor to the Mega Man franchise. The concept looks really nice, and is currently on track for a PC release, but there is a possibility of it being ported to consoles as well! If interested, please take a moment to look at Inafune's Kickstarter page (type in Google "Inafune Kickstarter Mighty no. 9") about this new project. Here is hoping all works out!
well technically, getting the saber makes the chronologically correct ending, because of the enemy that damages zero his buster gets damaged and doesnt get repaired till x5
Requirements for the best ending are to simply play the game and avoid going into a boss room in Doppler Lab 2, I believe, as Zero. You would probably not know about it because by that point you're trained to not bother going in boss doors as Zero. If you DO go in, you have to fight that boss as Zero and he nearly dies, so he gives X the Z-Saber. The Z-Saber kills EVERY boss in 2 hits, but getting it causes the bad ending.
The buster upgrade capsule in Megaman X4 ( the one on the right). It makes the X buster incredibly overpowered. In fact, I'd say X4 had the best upgrades of all. Or maybe its the game itself that makes it seem that way...
I never thought of it that way myself. I always thought there was something like a cheat tool since emulators have them built in. I once took TAS plays (in general) as a short cheap way to play a game. Since that was what I thought I kinda hated them but had a new respect for them about a month ago and I REALLY enjoy them now.
isn't there a secret teleport to Vile Stage in Crush Crawfish stage. or is it part of getting the Zero's sword which is why it was skipped.. it's been around 3-4 years since I last played X's through.. so my memory is little hazy. =)
100%, but it says best ending, because the getting the Z-saber will result in the bad ending with doppler sacrificing himself as Zero is not running with you
You shouldve watched the twitch 7 day speedrun funraiser for preventing cancer, Caleb the best megaman X player currently did it live on a super nintendo almost close to the world record so indeed it is possible and doable.
outside of the TAS, and the fact he's beating bosses w/o their weakness(i know its possible) but if your going 100%, you shouldnt even have to fight vile in the doppler stages
Dude, The Best ending is Getting Zero's Z-Saber when you kill Bit, Byte than kill Vile in the secret area with Neon Tigers weakness so instead of fighting Vile you fight a stupid insect with Zero. he gets damaged and gives X his Saber
@sn00chies I don't know some of the stuff he does makes me wonder how it did it. I was told on another video that because of the frames rates you can't see if he's blinking or not so I wonder if you can download a video from TAS.
This is a "Tool-assisted" speed run, meaning he probably used save stats, and played the game on an amazingly slow frame rate. Don't feel bad. Playing like that is inhumanly impossible lol.
hey nice video can you tell me what happend at 30:11; does it have anything new ? i only regonized blue X into yellow X xD please answer if possible , its interesting for me
the true ultimate armor would be to combine all the power ups x gets ever in any game and in lore. Take x 8 ultimate armor give him infinite we energy and add all of the previous armor sets powers to that and add previous boss power ups too and you have ultimate x
I played the Playstation version with Megaman X Collection on GC, and the game seemed to be a little faster (for example less lag on wall jumpings and such). Am I wrong ? I'd love to see a TAS of the Playstation version anyway :)
I've a question, aren't you supposedly unable to get the gold armor if you install another armor chip? From what I saw, he had the leg one.. Please help me understand, or correct me if I'm wrong..
this is an AMAZING tas
amm...it's amazing, I have no words to describe it
Fucking awesome, I have played the game like a billion times and never noticed such a thing. I salute you.
you are awesome, man!
Dude what that f you're the best megaman player I've ever seen great played man....
I like how moth uses EVERY WEAPON during the refight with Catfish.
A bunch are really great, nobody can deny that.
X "Damn. Its a dead end"
Zero: "Why dont you just teleport out, numbnuts!?"
X: "Oh.... right"
TAS is not an automated controller, it is a real time play; it allows you to undo any game play that you have messed up from.
Very good man, very good!!
God damn this is gorgeous.
this is a TAS run meaning he did it all at possibly less than 10% speed and repeatedly until he got it all perfect. It could be segmented over months and strung into the video that you see above.

Ahh... The original SNES version, with the better music and sound effects. Clearly the best version of the game. Good to see it again!!
If you're not slip-n-sliding around during a boss fight, ur doing it wrong. I've believed this for my entire life and this just reaffirms it.
You are really good at this. watching you own levels and bosses i had trouble at made me jealous!
thank you very much=D
Man, I forgot how much better the music and sound effects are in this version of the game compared to the anniversary version.
Completing Mega Man LIKE A BOSS
Most impressive! Nice touch doing all those neat tricks. Good work!
AMAZING!!!!!!
I think the common opinion is there are two ways to 100%, you can either save Zero (best ending) or get the saber.
Turned the X-buster into what's basically a heavy machine gun, and gave X godlike dodging skills.

zacmidnigh And now
Can't believe this is five years ago. And man, how sad Mighty turns out to be.
at the end it should say... Thanks for Owning this Game like a Boss...
well technically, getting the saber makes the chronologically correct ending, because of the enemy that damages zero his buster gets damaged and doesnt get repaired till x5
The explosion scenes in this game are totally over the top hahaha. BOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOM
Really good job, my only question is were you got that anime pic from the beginning of your vid lol
My mind can't... comprehend... excuse me i have to go lie down for a while...
Epically awesome! especially with the secret techniques as well.
yeah I watch TASes all the time I love them dey funneh
listen with headphones on for the high quality 16-bit stereo, oh my god its like im really playing the game

It says best ending, best ending is the one where zero doesn't die, and zero has to die for you to get the sword.
The buster upgrade capsule in Megaman X4 ( the one on the right). It makes the X buster incredibly overpowered.
In fact, I'd say X4 had the best upgrades of all. Or maybe its the game itself that makes it seem that way...
And also if you see at sigma virus, you can see he's being surrounded by something like a shield or energy.
Golden Megaman is so sick!
that was badass!!!!
I have never seen Sigma drop so quick.
That depends on what are you trying to achieve.
This is Tool-Assisted-Speedrun. This is not his actual real-time gameplay, but frame-by-frame instead.
I don't know, man... it's like.. I just turn around and THERE HE IS EVERY TIME!
You said it bro.
I never thought of it that way myself. I always thought there was something like a cheat tool since emulators have them built in. I once took TAS plays (in general) as a short cheap way to play a game. Since that was what I thought I kinda hated them but had a new respect for them about a month ago and I REALLY enjoy them now.
why the hell there is no delay on the damage of bosses?!
isn't there a secret teleport to Vile Stage in Crush Crawfish stage. or is it part of getting the Zero's sword which is why it was skipped.. it's been around 3-4 years since I last played X's through.. so my memory is little hazy. =)
that's when seeing who makes the faster TAS happens
100%, but it says best ending, because the getting the Z-saber will result in the bad ending with doppler sacrificing himself as Zero is not running with you
If you listen close at 44:00 on, you'll hear 3 teleporting noises. SIGMA ESCAPED!
how does this guy remember all of this I didnt even play this game and it looks pretty hard for me
You shouldve watched the twitch 7 day speedrun funraiser for preventing cancer, Caleb the best megaman X player currently did it live on a super nintendo almost close to the world record so indeed it is possible and doable.
outside of the TAS, and the fact he's beating bosses w/o their weakness(i know its possible) but if your going 100%, you shouldnt even have to fight vile in the doppler stages
Um, when against Blast Hornet, I go ahead and use his official weakness, Gravity Well, though I do admit it has no rapid fire.
Nah, X's body was just a shell when Elpizo destroyed it. X was already surviving on his own when it happened.
Please allow me to excuse myself as well...my mind is at a all standing awe.
Dude, The Best ending is Getting Zero's Z-Saber when you kill Bit, Byte than kill Vile in the secret area with Neon Tigers weakness so instead of fighting Vile you fight a stupid insect with Zero. he gets damaged and gives X his Saber
OMG you are awesome player!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG the fight the bee blew my mind
@DarkXxXNightmare He is aiming for the good ending, if he got the z-saber then he would force the bad ending
The first Blast Hornet fight was like watching a dance
It's sad that even a TAS game it's still 40+ minutes long.
when you first got to be zero i was like really excited
That music when Zero comes in...
Zero saved X's life so many times, from so many people
Elpizo did the impossible XD
@sn00chies I don't know some of the stuff he does makes me wonder how it did it. I was told on another video that because of the frames rates you can't see if he's blinking or not so I wonder if you can download a video from TAS.
this and megaman 3 were a freaking gauntlet
haha juegas genial bro~
What. What are all those new bosses in Doppler's lab? Why is Vile a boss now? What the heck??
This is a "Tool-assisted" speed run, meaning he probably used save stats, and played the game on an amazingly slow frame rate.
Don't feel bad. Playing like that is inhumanly impossible lol.
Yeah, but the SNES controller didn't come with a turbo button... and changes A LOT the time of a speedrun...
hey nice video can you tell me what happend at 30:11; does it have anything new ? i only regonized blue X into yellow X xD please answer if possible , its interesting for me
with the second feet upgrade or with the golden armor
But the whole point of a TAS is to show the game pushed to its highest limits... not to take away from real-time speedruns without tool-assistance.
modified in the game, my grandmother makes too
This is like a big middle finger to the face of Dr. Willy, or whoever the bad guy is in this storyline :3
mate TAS runs are mainly for entertainment
megaman x3 es de lo mejor
i blinked, what happened?
Megaman X Marverick Hunter X (Ville Mode)
Ville vs Zero and X
X say: ''Is over Ville''
Zero say: ''Is finish Ville''
the true ultimate armor would be to combine all the power ups x gets ever in any game and in lore. Take x 8 ultimate armor give him infinite we energy and add all of the previous armor sets powers to that and add previous boss power ups too and you have ultimate x

I'd love to see a TAS of the Playstation version anyway :)
Great TAS ! Am i the only one who play PSX version ? (saber sound
Anyone knows why is Sigma likes animal so much?
oye hermano tengo una duda eres el creador del juego o un experto
Spikes don't even exist to this guy.
This was tool assisted btw.. :D
Slowdowns, save states... All that derp
The drill is that powerful, my whole life is a lie !
CC's so cute >.
I don't think I see anything in there about hitting them in between their invincibility frames, doc. :/
I ended up playing this again from the nostalgia lol. Thanks.
they are all humanly possible, its not cheating
TAS devices are not cheat devices
Well getting Zeros Sword is kinda like a bad ending because in a way you kill/disable him.
7:26 how are you doing this glytch ? is it like when hes looking left you leave the screen and come back to make him cancel his attack over and over?
I didn't know Byte had two weaknesses!
Uhhh I just saw 43:52 minutes of fast ass kicking!!
but how can anyone shoot that fast???
that so cool
around 18 minutes.. he opned the hole, but didnt go in to get the robot
I've a question, aren't you supposedly unable to get the gold armor if you install another armor chip? From what I saw, he had the leg one.. Please help me understand, or correct me if I'm wrong..
