Hi Patti, Yes the food bill is very high, 5 dogs, a horse and now 15 chickens!! We are sending some Tractor Supply CEO's children to college!!! Glad you like the Disappearing Potato Chip quilt!!!

@AmericanaQuilting Sorry, let me try again. It appears to me that you have a pack of Livestock Guard Dogs (LGD) as companions when you sew. When I walk into my sewing studio, I sometimes think about all of us who sew and have a lot of inventory at hand. Some of us have some sort of security, and some of us do not. I have get back to work now. Keep up the great work.
Joyce that cracked me up!!!! Yes, there are very few who would try coming into my yard, let alone my workroom. Little do they know they may get loved to death, shhhh don't tell anyone!!! Now, if you try reaching over the fence, all bets are off!!!

Very interesting. I've made a couple of "potato chip" quilts but did not know that's what the block was called. The one I just finished used your same goldish but with black. I also made one using 1.5x2.5 logs (that was a fun leader/ender).
I think for your disappearing block starting with a 2.5" or larger piece would be easier. Good video and you've given me something to think about.

The dogs were an added bonus. I have 3 and set a timer for pills and feeding but they start coming around just before the timer goes off. I’m always amazed how they know.

Svetlana, the strips are 2 1/2" wide and you cut them into the chips which are 2 1/2"x 4 1/2". The blocks prior to cutting should be 16 1/2" x 16 1/2". We do have a pattern on our website but that you could get and then use google translate to read it, that might help. Let me know if I can help!!

I love this block! Using only two colors makes it easy to pull fabrics from the scrap mound! The disappearing blocks make such an interesting design.
Hi Dawn, I love the Potato Chip block, it is so much fun to make. I call it the Goldilox quilt because its just right, not too hard, not too easy. Its pieces aren't too big, they aren't too small. It doesn't take too long and it's not too quick, its just right!! I really wanted to find a way to make it disappear though because thats what potato chips do around me!!! I love this! I'm currently obsessed with making randomly scrappy potato chip blocks. I may have to think about color placement vs. random colors. The table runner falls short, though, because it forms two hate symbols. The quilt is awesome though!
I know!!!!! I didn't see them until I was finished!!!! I don't think I'm even going to quilt them!!! The potato chip block is just the most enjoyable block to make, isn't it!!!

Hi Mary, glad you liked the quilt!!! So sorry to hear about the loss of your fur babies, it's always so hard to let them go. Glad you enjoyed watching mine! We are on our 15th dog at this point, the big ones don't last nearly as long as the little ones. And, although their loss is difficult it gives us space to rescue another one, and we love giving the ones pushed aside to have a wonderful loving home for the rest of their lives, no matter how long that might be!!!

I love, love, love this clever quilt! I am working on my Neighborhood Square quilt and suddenly realized that I can piece pairs of "potato chips" together as leaders and enders and have those pairs ready for this Disappearing project!
YES!!! This would be a wonderful leader ender project!!! Please share pictures of your projects when you are finished so we can see them!!! Just a word of caution, the disappearing potato chip blocks do need to be made using two distinct colors otherwise the peaks and valleys may not show up. I don't think I mentioned that in the video clearly enough.

Omg love the puppy dogs.
They are my happy place!!! And the black one is just a puppy!!! I had her weighed a couple of months ago when she was 8 months old and she weighed 98lbs!!!! She is truly going to be a giant, and sooooo sweet!!!

Long ago, you said you had to make bedskirts for your drapery business. Have you thought about doing a video on that? My skirt has torn from that thin crappy cheap wanna be, so-called fabric, I would love to try making one from sheets maybe, but I have no clue where to begin. Such a gorgeous quilt. Haven’t made a potato chip quilt yet but I think I need to. It seems so versatile with many options. Thanks for taking the time to show us the disappearing one…super fun. Love your sewing center. How do you store your batting for the long arm? I have several rolls and bought two hammocks to hold them. 😜 I just had no more room in my area.
Hi Debbie, Thank you so much!!! Yes, those little potato chips are super versatile, I have other quilt ideas swirling around in my brain!!!
If you can see in the videos, I have a trough under my machine, just made out of pvc and some drapery lining, this is where all my quilts sit while being quilted so that they never have to touch the ground (dogs and a farm) I store my batting in the trough. If the bolts are narrow enough I also have large racks that I have drapery fabric stored on. Thanks for commenting!

Fantastic pattern. It’s so effective. Your dogs are fabulous, I was watching them playing in the background before they decided it was dinner time. I loved that big, gentle, giant having a chomp on your arm. One of my hounds does that to my wrist when she wants my attention. The worst bit about it is the slobber! 💦💧💦 at the end I was almost expecting you to be knocked over!

Yes, the slobber is the worst part! That's why their water is at the barn with horses, hopefully all the water slobber drips off before they get back inside!!! And I have ended up on the ground a time or two when they get the zoomies!!! Glad you liked the pattern, that makes me very happy!!!

Are you referring to the bonus project? Unfortunately I only noticed the secondary pattern that one made (other than the pinwheel I was going for) after I had made the video. Thankfully not many have noticed.
