But knowing Boeing still have issues on their certifications of their 777x, and the late production once certified, PAL can't afford to wait for 777x. So A350-1000 is one of their better options despite that Boeing 777x is a better replacement to their Boeing aircraft.

I stopped halfway through. PAL can buy all the airplanes it wants to, but until the airport operating authority improves the airport terminals & other infrastructure, no thanks.
It's quite obvious that they want an airplane that doesn't struggle into the air with all those Balikbayan boxes in the cargo hold, plus the weight of ultra-long haul fuel, every seat occupied and overhead bins filled with even more boxes.
i do not think they will order the boeing 787 but the boeing 777x will since Philippine airlines is still eyeing for an order, this also happens in the boeing 777x possible order but it has been shelved due to the pandemic so best thing to do is just wait and watch what will the airline will order in the coming years, their boeing 777 300ers are still kicking and many of them are less than 10 years of age
A350-1000 is absolutely fit to PAL, however, If they want to order that aircraft, I hope they will order directly from Airbus, not in any lessor. It might happen "again" that they used to have six Airbus A350-900 in the past, but now there are only two.
Replacing old 777’s with the A350K is a good decision for PAL coz 777x is too big to fill for them. And if they really want to be more competitive and save a lot on costs, they should consider replacing their A330s with a more fuel efficient B787. B787-9 is perfect fit for their Middle East destinations. 787 has more range they can open routes new routes as far as Morocco.
They’ll more likely to order the A330neo. Despite it’s lacking performance to the 787-9. It all comes to delivery slots, safety, and commonality. The A330 and A350 shares the same rating than the 787 and 777. Airbus type rating is the only type rating in the Philippines which is why Boeing’s presence has sealed it’s fate.
@@mxttyzw safety haaa?. Curious. Isn't it weird how most of the recent injuries (both serious and minor) due to turbulence were on the a330? Airbus has a huge backlog because of China and it will take forever to fulfill PAL's orders. They should consider the 777-9 which offers more capacity and could be delivered sooner despite the certification issues.
Problem is - both Airbus and Boeing can't keep up with the demand for long haul wide-body aircraft. Turkish Airlines for one "paused" its USA route expansion - Detroit and Denver due to lack of aircraft (and also of pilots). Regardless - I would go with PAL opting for the B777X (777-9) over the A350-1000. The A350 type is getting dated by the time the 777X comes into service 2 years from now.
As someone who's working closely with airlines in the airport in Manila, I still believe they'll order the 777x & 787. But for the mean time, they'll order the A350-1K (atleast 3 or 4) while planning to take also Boeing aircrafts. PAL is also a legacy airline for Boeing and from what I heard they might convert their 777 300er as freighter if they wish to venture to Cargo. As for the A330neo, I think you are spot on. It is a logical choice for PAL to order especially for medium to long haul destinations like Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Sydney, Seoul, Tokyo, and Osaka. I do think they'll order the -900 rather than the -800.
A35Ks to replace the 77W and 787s to replace their a330s. Both A and B go home happy. 🤝
This is just the plane that they need to have more flights here in Toronto... or in general in North America... I'm tired of always connecting either to ICN, HND or in NRT whenever I go home during the holidays and I always fly during the holiday peak season (Christmas and New years)... its just saves time if you fly direct... i lost 2 days of my vacation in my last flight home due to weather and connection times... PAL pls make this happen
Problem is as long as Russia has leverage over its airspace, this will be a difficult prospect, especially on the flight back to MNL.
2:10 when did PAL order B787-9s?!
it got cancelled.
FYI the A350-1000's length is close to the 777-300ER's length.
Edit : And it came to fruition.
The range of the 300ER is shorter than the A350-1000. They could wait for the 777-8 and 777-9 but there is one problem, ehich is range. The 777-9 has more capacity but has less range (-3000km). The 777-8 has the same range of the A350-1000 but it has less capacity and lenght. Also, both the 777-9 and 8 is very expensive to operate compared to the A350 and PAL is a huge fan of Airbus.
@@Ferruru694 Too bad they didn't got the A380 though. Hope they order the A220 to bridge the gap of A320/A321 and their turboprop Q400.
@@markdwighttadina7655 I would actually want to see them order the A220 for domestic flights
Yessss
So is it goodbye to boeing for PAL?
Nice report 🌟
both Boeing 777x and Airbus A350- 1000 is good fit for Philippine Airlines.🛫
A350s to replace the 777s. 787s to replace the A330s. This is the way.
I agree of this
A350-1000's to replace the 777-300 if they don't want to wait for the Boeing 777-9X
and thet should replace the A330-300 with the 787-9 or 787-8 maybe.
but im hooked to the 777-9X
About time the old 777s and A330s get replaced 😆
1:34 A350 without the mask looks so weird 😭
Economics and they will be used for long haul. They favor airbus because of the service facility in Singapore and Manila. Plus Boeing is often tied politically.
Yes, I agree A350-1000 fits for PAL upgrade or additional fleets for there operation.
Have they placed the order yet????
making a video just for the sake of it? there was a reason why I subscribed to this channel.
Would love to see the A350-1000 in the Retro cheatline livery or the Eurowhite Livery with the Sunriser logo stretched downwards touching the rear fuselage similar to that of Lufthansa
In my opinion, Boeing 777x is a good replacement to their ageing Boeing 777-300ER. But knowing Boeing still have issues on their certifications of their 777x, and the late production once certified, PAL can't afford to wait for 777x. So A350-1000 is one of their better options despite that Boeing 777x is a better replacement to their Boeing aircraft.
Another thing is the familiarity of the cockpit and pilots don't have to go thru a lot of retraining which saves some money for the airlines....
@@johnpatricklim4509 although the A35K only provides 40 additional seats than the A359. And PAL's 77Ws carry 370 passengers, including 42 C passengers on the 2-3-2 configuration. Sayang din ang 30-odd passengers that PAL will forego by settling for an A35K instead of a newer 77W or 777x.
The A350-1000 is a perfect choice for Philippine Airlines but I wish they would join the ID90 program!
I stopped halfway through. PAL can buy all the airplanes it wants to, but until the airport operating authority improves the airport terminals & other infrastructure, no thanks.
And plus they can probably just use mactan-cebu
Flying on Pal next
if from the US, good luck
They prolly gonna cram 500 people on that A350 😂😂😂
I think replacing the A340-300 with the A350-1000 is kinda strange, but interesting at the same time.
It's quite obvious that they want an airplane that doesn't struggle into the air with all those Balikbayan boxes in the cargo hold, plus the weight of ultra-long haul fuel, every seat occupied and overhead bins filled with even more boxes.
They got rid of the last 340-300 in 2018
@@WRic86 But they use the A350s as A340 replacements!
I WOULD USE IT FROM HEATHROW OR MANCHESTER TO CLARK EVERY TIME.
I really hope they operate more aircrafts like B787
lol
Nope. Not gonna happen. It’s already confirmed Boeing’s presence is over.
i do not think they will order the boeing 787 but the boeing 777x will since Philippine airlines is still eyeing for an order, this also happens in the boeing 777x possible order but it has been shelved due to the pandemic so best thing to do is just wait and watch what will the airline will order in the coming years, their boeing 777 300ers are still kicking and many of them are less than 10 years of age
absolutely ! as B777-300ER is getting older.
The oldest is about 13 years old. These can fly up to 20 years
A a350-1000 is the best I hope they order so we can see long flights
Just in the last few months/weeks passengers on a Lufthansa, condor and Hawaiian a330/a330neo reported injuries, some even serious.
I have never heard such on a 787 flight, yet you claim the a330 is safer.
If it's safer then why have many people been injured flying the a330 in the past few weeks/ months?
Why does the a330 react to turbulence soo poorly that many people have had concussions from banging their heads against the bins above?
Service like low-cost and price of ticket is expensive than Qatar airways... PAL should upgrade their interior especially those from Middle East..
A big yes since it's an Airbus!
May benefit them with more flights and newer sectors to Europe, North America.
.
Both... for recreational travel and business travellers.
No I been on those in Lufthansa and tourist class on those for 14 hours is purgatory cramped seating and I am no giant. The boing 787version dream liners much better for long haul even in tourist or economy class and. More toilets incidentally .....Don't do it PA's if you really care about passegers as much as profits

Big win for Airbus
Absolutely, why not? Airbus is an excellent product and it'll be a perfect pair with their already 900 in use.
im just quite sad they decided to not operate PR701/702 to London and back
Due to the war between Ukraine and Russia
They might open this route for the coming future. They might service again by mid to late 2024.
They don't have enough airplanes
@@WRic86 fair enough
The font they use for the black lettering of "Philippines" looks like it was created with MS Word. So tacky, I hope they can at least use the "It's more fun in the Philippines" font or update it with more character somehow.
Good to see Boeing going under.
I am neither qualified nor informed well enough to make any such comments. 😉
Airbus has a huge backlog because of China and it will take forever to fulfill PAL's orders. They should consider the 777-9 which offers more capacity and could be delivered sooner despite the certification issues.
As long as no accident and safe to fly 🙄
Just be a plane lover, someone from the comment section burst hatred to Boeing LMAO Sheesh.
Flew PAL recently and it was bad. Never again flying PAL.
how bad was it?? how long was your delay, or did they cancel your flight? (or both)
PAL would like to launch A350 1000 on routes for fuel efficiency and luxury experience
the -1000 would make most sense on their US, Canada, UK and NZ routes. The -1000 is best utilised on those ultra-long haul routes.
I want these in the LA and San Francisco routes as these are the ones currently served by 777-300 ERs, which, let's be honest, are showing their age.
Really want that premium economy in these routes.
On the San Francisco routes 3 out of the last 4 days, they have cancel the flight
I just want them to fly the route
You’re correct on that it’s pretty pathetic with the old beat-up planes that feel like jeepneys already inside.
Nevertheless, we will have to wait a very very long time. If PAL hasn’t already ordered by now, these new planes are just put at the end of a long backlog.
Gave up on them after last year , and already switched over to ANA for this year’s trips .

The Chinese are not noted for their ground breaking aviation technology, and that's what propels airline orders. A need to reduce costs by increased fuel efficiency, in engine and airframe manufacture, plus increased comfort, when your competitors are offering that. Chinese workers are excellent automata, but as for design, forget it. Im sure that Comac will develop reasonable aircraft in the future, but their technology will be old school. When they compete with wide bodies, they might as well reverse engineer a B787 and A350, and when they've done that, both Boeing and Airbus will have moved on. Only sanction busting airlines will buy these Chinese models, especially if they fail to get airworthiness certs in the West........😀.......

Indeed, Boeing has only received 200 orders for the 787 in the last 4 months. Poor Boeing. 🙃
I don't think the A350-1000 is a good option for the carrier. It's far too big for the airline. It should look for a smaller aircraft. Otherwise it will proabably struggle financially again.
