yeah chapter three with the highways really makes you feel like that but it gets really good once you get into the mountains, getting to the top of a mountain and then using the climbing ropes is very fun and cool

@@kyleflood9121 There's tons of freedom. What works about the gameplay is seeing the obstacles in front of you and figuring out how to overcome them or get around them. It's about preparation, using the tools you have at your disposal, and actually paying attention to the ground you walk on and the rivers you cross instead of just mindlessly going somewhere like other open world games.
@@mortified0 it also involves how you plan your traveling route from one stop point/distribution centre to another, making as minimal backtracking as possible in one go. It has both micro and macro management. It's great.
As an actual Italian i have to agree with Kojima, you guys simply do not get this game. You are not meant to put the disk on the PS4 and actually play it, you are meant to use it as a coaster for your drink. It´s not brain science or rocket surgery, people.

As soon as I clicked on this video, I knew Dunkey wouldn't like it. I really enjoyed Death Stranding personally, but I could see why dunkey didn't like it. especially how he was playing it, you have to plan your routes effectively and forcing it ends up with a lot of frustration, there's like 10 different routes between all the areas, some risky and hard, some way easier. The waypoint system is fucking incredible in this game, and makes route planning a breeze. For the few weeks I played it, it was my relaxation game. Just load up with some packages and away I went, just absorbing the atmosphere and forgetting my troubles for a few hours Dunkey said in the past he has no patience, and that's exactly what you need. It's an expository dump and trying to understand the story in parts is exhausting, but possible if you've been concentrating on the story otherwise you'll need a glossary, because by the end it's lingo city and fuckin shit, it gets annoying. I understand why Dunkey doesn't like it, but overall I got 100 hours of enjoyment building roads, bridges and keeping on keeping on. If you want to try unhinged Kojima sci-fi weirdness, go for Death Stranding. Just go in with patience and an open mind. There's a lot of good, but the bads can get pretty bad.

@fizzydinosaur -- I know what you mean in terms of it's supposed to be atmospheric. They have a fucking in-game soundtrack. You're supposed to walk around and enjoy the view and shit and listen to knock-off radiohead. But to be fair, it fails in even that respect. Witcher 3 had better environments to simply traverse. Kojima should've taken a page out of CDPR's book and after the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 had said "Oh shit, I better make sure my game is as polished and good as it can be, because RDR2 just set a new standard". I'm glad Cyberpunk is getting delayed, they understand what it means to be a top tier AAA game now that RDR2 and God of War and Uncharted 4 have come out swinging.

I think it works sometimes. I don't mean video game to movie adaptions, I mean like "mixing" them. I like death stranding- I actually believe that the narrative themes tie into the gameplay quite well. But I agree with dunkey in that the way they set up the cutscenes is just shitty pacing. Interactive movies can be nice if you are in the right mindset. Detroit:Become Human is the most successful on its choose your own adventure promise yet (as in less illusion of choice). I just wish the writing in it was less questionable.

If you play to help others and share it's a way different game. All the rocks on the paths go away the more people use the same path. And the menus are quicker if you share too

It even had an optional weapon (fire flower) to attack enemies but you could actually avoid killing a single enemy except for the browsers if you really are skilled. Each time I look at this game I'm filled with ideas on how to improve it while keeping the action as simple traversal, which is a bad thing

The thing that's so strange about this game for me is that even though the gunplay is shit, the physics are frustrating, the vehicles are basically unusable, and it's repetitive as fuck, it somehow hasn't bored me. And on top of not boring me I had this moment a few hours in where it all just clicked, as I rode my cycle down the highway I stopped and realized that the highway was only there because other players made that highway together, and that's what I think is so great about this game, it legitimately feels like it is connecting people and allowing them to lift each other up to succeed. Yeah it's corny but I love it.
This is how I feel about Tears of the Kingdom. Combat is shit, physics are annoying, travel sucks, story is dumb, and the whole world is repetitive and pointless. But if all you wanna do is wander around picking shit up…. It’s ok.
Every time I see reviews of Death Stranding that say the game sucks, I mostly see people rushing through places that are impossible to get through in this game or any other. I never see any of them trying to establish a coherent route and properly use the various tools that enrich the gameplay. In Death Stranding the primary enemy is the terrain, not for nothing is Sam equipped with a topographical scanner. The story, although implausible, can be very nice if you are sensitive to it and understand what the game wants to propose to you in relation to its particular gameplay and its story. That said, Death Stranding is a contemplative game and it will not necessarily please everyone.
@@dalgusmaximus4557 The thing with Death Stranding mechanics is that they're quite solid if you know what you're doing. What I mean by that is that if you actually go through reasonable paths, don't use a motorbike on a rocky ground and treat Sam in a mora fragile manner, he actually feels pretty good to play. That's why there are so many polarised opinions about the gameplay, it has to do with how much patience you have to play carefully and in a planned manner. It really is a test of patience, but in a good way. From the moment I realized how the game would play out I realized Dunkey wouldn't like the game because he's already stated that he has no fucking patience at all. Me personally I'm a bit of a slow moron that likes to watch paint dry so I adored Death Stranding.

Death Stranding, a game that reminds you how good MGSV was and makes you want to play it again
As soon as I clicked on this video, I knew Dunkey wouldn't like it. I really enjoyed Death Stranding personally, but I could see why dunkey didn't like it. especially how he was playing it, you have to plan your routes effectively and forcing it ends up with a lot of frustration, there's like 10 different routes between all the areas, some risky and hard, some way easier. The waypoint system is fucking incredible in this game, and makes route planning a breeze.
For the few weeks I played it, it was my relaxation game. Just load up with some packages and away I went, just absorbing the atmosphere and forgetting my troubles for a few hours
Dunkey said in the past he has no patience, and that's exactly what you need. It's an expository dump and trying to understand the story in parts is exhausting, but possible if you've been concentrating on the story otherwise you'll need a glossary, because by the end it's lingo city and fuckin shit, it gets annoying. I understand why Dunkey doesn't like it, but overall I got 100 hours of enjoyment building roads, bridges and keeping on keeping on. If you want to try unhinged Kojima sci-fi weirdness, go for Death Stranding. Just go in with patience and an open mind. There's a lot of good, but the bads can get pretty bad.

@fizzydinosaur -- I know what you mean in terms of it's supposed to be atmospheric. They have a fucking in-game soundtrack. You're supposed to walk around and enjoy the view and shit and listen to knock-off radiohead. But to be fair, it fails in even that respect. Witcher 3 had better environments to simply traverse. Kojima should've taken a page out of CDPR's book and after the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 had said "Oh shit, I better make sure my game is as polished and good as it can be, because RDR2 just set a new standard". I'm glad Cyberpunk is getting delayed, they understand what it means to be a top tier AAA game now that RDR2 and God of War and Uncharted 4 have come out swinging.

As an example, while watching this video, I thought, "he hates the game so much he's taking the most difficult and stupid paths possible in order to be done with it as fast as possible, which is gonna make it worse because all of those efforts are going to fail and take up more time."
So for me, while I totally understand his frustration, I can see with perfect clarity why I am not frustrated like that.
I blame Skyrim for giving us unrealistic standards for walking up mountains.

I think they do mention something about planes and helicopters not working in the in-game logs. Something about the atmosphere having changed after the Death Stranding, if I recall correctly.
They can't use airborne vehicles because of the timefall. It's explained in the game if you'd at least played it

I think it works sometimes. I don't mean video game to movie adaptions, I mean like "mixing" them. I like death stranding- I actually believe that the narrative themes tie into the gameplay quite well. But I agree with dunkey in that the way they set up the cutscenes is just shitty pacing. Interactive movies can be nice if you are in the right mindset. Detroit:Become Human is the most successful on its choose your own adventure promise yet (as in less illusion of choice). I just wish the writing in it was less questionable.

@@lucymorrison Plenty. I think I enjoyed it because I saw a lot of video reviews and knew what I was getting into. The game is quite easy and relaxing for the most part. Dunkey just chose to use difficult paths in this video and make it look like it's a pain.

If you play to help others and share it's a way different game. All the rocks on the paths go away the more people use the same path. And the menus are quicker if you share too

@Succ The hedgehog nah it was more dunkey pointing out how Mario made the simple act of running and walking into a fun fast paced but though filled experience. It even had an optional weapon (fire flower) to attack enemies but you could actually avoid killing a single enemy except for the browsers if you really are skilled.
Each time I look at this game I'm filled with ideas on how to improve it while keeping the action as simple traversal, which is a bad thing

The thing that's so strange about this game for me is that even though the gunplay is shit, the physics are frustrating, the vehicles are basically unusable, and it's repetitive as fuck, it somehow hasn't bored me. And on top of not boring me I had this moment a few hours in where it all just clicked, as I rode my cycle down the highway I stopped and realized that the highway was only there because other players made that highway together, and that's what I think is so great about this game, it legitimately feels like it is connecting people and allowing them to lift each other up to succeed. Yeah it's corny but I love it.

Every time I see reviews of Death Stranding that say the game sucks, I mostly see people rushing through places that are impossible to get through in this game or any other. I never see any of them trying to establish a coherent route and properly use the various tools that enrich the gameplay.
In Death Stranding the primary enemy is the terrain, not for nothing is Sam equipped with a topographical scanner. The story, although implausible, can be very nice if you are sensitive to it and understand what the game wants to propose to you in relation to its particular gameplay and its story.
That said, Death Stranding is a contemplative game and it will not necessarily please everyone.

@@dalgusmaximus4557 The thing with Death Stranding mechanics is that they're quite solid if you know what you're doing. What I mean by that is that if you actually go through reasonable paths, don't use a motorbike on a rocky ground and treat Sam in a mora fragile manner, he actually feels pretty good to play. That's why there are so many polarised opinions about the gameplay, it has to do with how much patience you have to play carefully and in a planned manner. It really is a test of patience, but in a good way.
From the moment I realized how the game would play out I realized Dunkey wouldn't like the game because he's already stated that he has no fucking patience at all.
Me personally I'm a bit of a slow moron that likes to watch paint dry so I adored Death Stranding.
