mans was just casually holding the lowest note on a 5-string bass guitar for like 18 seconds 💀

  • @lizlilliman3644

Cesar will make you cry with his face in creep. You really feel the words and meaning.

  • @breannadeal8610

Eli's voice is extraordinary. Another reactor did a very cool comparison where she played snippets from Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" and Sia's "Chandelier" and a few other women well-known for belting, and Eli is sustaining the highest note in "I Will Always Love You" for that *entire phrase*. The most ridiculous part is that he's figured out how to sing like this without damaging his voice.

  • @Aurora-cv5to

VoicePlay often changes the rhythms of the original - almost always to make it much more complex and interesting, and I LOVE it! Layne's beatboxing is so creative. (The creaking door when J walks in is all Layne too!) Eli's tenor is GORGEOUS - but he's becoming increasingly crucial to their "look", too. This background was done by Eli, and increasingly he's the one designing the lighting, too!) That's Cesar standing between Layne and J None. Agree, his ability to convey emotion in his expressions and body is next level. He's the newest member, Cesar joined in 2021 after J None left.

  • @johndeeregreen4592

Yes, the rap section was J.None. He was a regular member of VoicePlay, then enlisted in the Navy and has been singing with them. However, he comes back to do features with VoicePlay when it comes up and he is able.

  • @Broomrider1492

Miracle of Sound was so imprest that they posted it on the VoicePlay channel and gave them ten alehorns out of ten for the most imaginative cover. I laugh so much at their newest silly cover of Drunken Sailor. J. None is a former group member. He left the group summer of 2021 and signed up for five years in the Navy. He is currently the new frontman for Navy Band Northwest. When he is home on leave he makes videos with the group.

  • @Galantus1964

Everybody and their mother are all up in arms about Geoff BUT thge oscar goes to Ceasar and Eli they became Vikings

  • @laundrygoddess4

I highly doubt you'll hear this song live. This was Geoff's hardest song and he had to trash his voice for five hours so he could sing that low for the whole song.

  • @ruthrussell1329

Cesar is a true "Angel of Music" who could call the birds from the trees. He is really giving his all for these forceful power notes, and his face shows it. I especially love when he gives us the grit! But, in quieter songs, like Creep, his true voice shines.

  • @sunnysidesofblue

Everything about this cover and video is awesome, but I LIVE for the intensity of Cesar's facial expressions. <3

  • @katthor7311

When the world shut down in 2020 and VoicePlay couldn't tour, they really started to delve into these produced videos. The early ones were often of work that they did tour with, so there was minimal back end alteration needed. However, as time has gone on and these productions are how VoicePlay supports themselves, they've delved into more complex arrangements and videos.

Warning, you're going to get too much information...

So glad to see people get on the voiceplay journey. Some fun ones to do when you have time: The Dragonborn comes, What do you do with a drunken sailor, Friends on the other side, basically everything they work on.

  • @jamiem4941

    Eli is a Rock tenor!

  • @Gael4ce

So glad you’re giving Eli and Cesar their due; too many reactors only lock onto Geoff. Not that Geoff isn’t amazing, but he’s not the only amazing singer here.

  • @nightthornkvala94132

That's Cesar De La Rosa, their newest member you're referring to. I think of him and Eli being in berserker mode for this song. Valhalla Calling is the followup to My Mother Told Me. In that video J None was a group member and Jose Rosario, Jr. was the guest singer. Here Cesar is the member and J is the guest.

  • @yoshimitsu5537

They sound incredible, I've never heard them before. Glad that has been fixed.

  • @Cpperk95

They hit every note spot on and perfect enunciation so we can understand every word - Awesome. Like your reacti9on, thanks .

  • @Badger77722

VoicePlay is not averse to using some techniques that some other a cappella groups eschew, including layering. There are some songs where it's obvious they are doing it (Oogie Boogie's Song has places where Geoff is singing lead while his bass line is very prominent underneath). So it's possible there was some layering going on in the section you highlighted. I know Pentatonix has their "wall of sound", where you'd swear it was a full choir singing until you hear them do it live, so it could be either way. It does sound like there's some post-production effects going on in that section to me.

  • @letheardaw

Love your enjoyment and insights. Eli has a uniquely beautiful voice. Not just his range, but everything he can do with it. He can rock up in Beyonce territory, and then do a 50's smooth, sweet, goofy love song (Mermaid Medley). I would love to follow his voice acting (anybody got the background on that? Help!).
