Great vid, Elizabeth 🙂 Writing a song that so many people want to cover has been a wild, bumpy journey. It has had upsides and also a few downsides; both in the business realm and in the more creative & personal realm. It has at times been a lot for a 100% independent creator to learn about & deal with, lol. But for me the good parts have mostly outweighed the not-so-fun parts, due to the simple joy of having inspired people. My 2020 Nordic folk-inspired original version will always be my favorite as I have such an emotional attachment to it, but the Voiceplay cover was definitely one of the most creative & interesting ones I heard
Nothing beats your duet with Peyton. It will forever be the best version of this song. Your compositions are incredible and always transport me to a different place. This song in particular always energizes me when I'm low or tired.

I am glad to see someone (and many more in the comments) enjoy this version. I was just in a rabbit hole of people who decried it as "inauthentic" so this is a nice palete cleanser. Really, we know that all modern "Viking" is clearly ahistorical...and we do have a roughly contemporary Scandinavian song (from 1300...so a little too late) with musical notation in only one case that I know of (called "Drømde mik en drøm i nat"). Geoff down to a B zero several times, Eli blasting that intense rock tenor and stretching his voice way up, Layne extending his vocal percussion, Cesar showing some grit and ability to belt, and J-None rapping. It’s like they figured out what each person’s most badass thing they could pull off and made an arrangement with it all. “Ear Candy” galore, their most intense song and I’m ready run through a wall. I don't know how they keep growing but they just keep getting stronger. As always thank you for the technical insight that you bring to all of your videos :)
So glad to see you getting to this one Elizabeth, it was a genuine joy to watch your reaction! I agree that Voiceplay should do more Viking music: I for one would love to see them spin off of something crazy like an Amon Amarth song. Don't know if that's technically possible, but if anyone can pull it off it's these guys!
Never heard that song before. AWESOME!!!!! My neighbors are digging it too. My cats not so much. The deep bass scares them for some reason. :) I'm gonna blow a speaker if I keep cranking it up.
You were talking about Eli getting big and the sustained wail. It’s like it’s a rock song instead of an a cappella arrangement and then thirds the end leading into Jay’s rap and after is like it switched to a Rock Opera. It gives me almost Phantom of the Opera with Gerard Butler “The Phantom of The Opera” they get really powerful.
Now please do some songs performed by Miracle of Sound! I'm conflicted about loads of people now in some way hearing his work, but not performed by him. He is SO good!!
I love how thirty seconds in, you say, "Wow, that's really low..." then have to stop because Geoff just dropped out the floor with his entrance. This was the first time I'd listened to VoicePlay, and a great way to get introduced to them it is. I'm not a big fan of rap, but with everything else that has been done with this video, it's almost inevitable that something like that would be put in. Still not sure it works, as you go from this Viking warrior feel into something very modern. Not trying to knock VoicePlay for the arrangement. Very well done. And I love how you're able to pick out so much that I missed even after listening to it multiple times.
I was so happy you did this. I have seen this must be 30 times and was just waiting for your expressions, tech talk and being blown away by them, as usual. continued success and good health to you and family.

This song is so addictive. Not just the music which can be sung in different ways but the feeling it creates inside.
It is a joy to see you REACT and have so much fun as this. Good weren't they.
I have been waiting for this video. Thank you so much for giving us this amazing reaction.
I love your reactions, Elizabeth. You always point out something that I missed even though I have listened to this video numerous times.
I knew you would enjoy this one. Voiceplay knocked it out of the park.
How much you love voice work really comes through. You are actually giddy when they play with the voices, harmonies and techniques. You have a complete geek out and it is a joy to see.
We got to the rarely spotted highly giggles Elizabeth. 😂
These guys never disappoint.
It's fun to watch you get so overwhelmed with some of the songs you watch. I really enjoy Geoff. His base is always amazing.
If this one hits you, check out their cover of In the Air Tonight.... This mix of singers is TRULY their power group.
Oh man. This brought out the animal instincts. Does something to my belly. Love the reaction for sure.
I'm enjoying this on so many levels. I'm listening twice so I can really absorb what's happening here with the production and mixing. So well done..
These gentleman always surprise me, just like you said Elizabeth ... I should be prepared by now but every time there's something new or a new way of expressing the music that just blows my mind. I don't know how they keep growing but they just keep getting stronger. As always thank you for the technical insight that you bring to all of your videos :)
An amazing arrangement! Odin would be proud to hear them echoing the halls of Val Halla!
I found it fascinating to listen to the other members during the rap part. Everything is just so perfect!
“The way he sometimes coughs up a hairball for effect” 😂😂😂😂
So glad to see you getting to this one Elizabeth, it was a genuine joy to watch your reaction! I agree that Voiceplay should do more Viking music: I for one would love to see them spin off of something crazy like an Amon Amarth song. Don't know if that's technically possible, but if anyone can pull it off it's these guys!
your reactions are the most wholesome, endearing thing I have seen in a long time. Love it!
Even though I expect a Capella singers and groups to be super competent; they still dazzle me so often, I love it !!!!
I love it when they make you giggle. Makes me smile.
I've been waiting for this video for so long!!!
I think this is Cesars best yet, really showcased him superbly.
I am absolutely love this group! Thank you Elizabeth for treating us to all these different musical genres!
I was so happy you did this. I have seen this must be 30 times and was just waiting for your expressions, tech talk and being blown away by them, as usual. continued success and good health to you and family.
I am loving your analysis of this video. You are putting into words what I feel when watching this video. They went all out for this video.
I goosebumped on that last chord
Right around the 12:30 mark on your video, that was Eli's "Floki" from their last Viking song, "My Mother Told Me."
Thanks for a great reaction, full of emotion and admiration!
