it's not greenscreen, they filmed this in a studio with giant LED walls that Eli created all the digital backgrounds for. and yes, Geoff wrote an additional verse with original melody and lyrics for Man of Constant Sorrow.

Geoff did add lyrics and music to Man of Constant Sorrow.

Miracle Of Sound is a guy who writes songs based in video games and yes Valhalla Calling is based on Assassin's Creed Valhalla. And yes Geoff wrote that bridge section for Man Of Constant Sorrow as he says he always felt that song should have had a bridge part.

Thanks for watching to the end of Man of Constant Sorrow and listening to Geoff's little speech about train track safety. So many just ignore it while I've been told by other it made the reaction to long. One even told me he felt it wasn't important.
Yes Valhalla Calling is from Assassin Creed. I'm going to agree with your wife that everyone stuck out including Cesar and Eli. Eli took his bazerker mode to new heights and Cesar showed he has grit and not just an angelic voice.
J's plane was three hours late and the rest were in costume in a building that the AC had gone out (wasn't working). I would have started without him too and deal with the rest later. But it turned out great 😂.
Hopefully it might be the precursor of J coming back as a permanent member
    Thanks for the reaction 😊

Hi y'all! J's 'solo appearance' in the early part may have been filmed later - his plane from Washington to Orlando was 3 hours late! As mentioned by Huldra, this was filmed in a large VR studio - in 90 degree heat, as the studio AC was out! The costumes and even the makeup have been seen before, in 'My Mother Told Me', which you did about 5 months ago - Cesar is wearing the same hooded robe that Jose wore in that - MMTM was 'green screen', as this was released over 2 years ago - so they were all in seperate locations physically!
You need to do the follow-up by Geoff to 'Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold', which is 'I See Fire' from the 2nd Hobbit movie - and VP's recent covers of 'Seven Nation Army', 'In The Air Tonight' (IMHO one of their best - so far!)..! 😊

@@TouchyReactions And something it took me awhile to notice. Geoff's front is covered by the fir piece that was hanging off one shoulder in the first video. Cesar is wearing Tim's shirt.

Great reactions! Disagreements ,teasing and shorthand conversations is what keeps marriage fun .As much as I love their theatrical videos I also love the simpler singing on a couch or stool just as much. They have so much to choose from in almost any genre it's insane.

This is the 2nd of the "Viking saga" songs that VoicePlay have done, the first one was My Mother Told Me featuring Jose Rosario Jr. They kept all of the costumes and makeup from the first, with Cesar taking the place of Jose for the new one.
Miracle of Sound is the stage name of the singer/songwriter who wrote Valhalla Calling for the video game Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. There are several other versions of the song available on RUclips, most of them duets or trios including MoS. J. None's rap is used in place of a section of the original song that is (IMO) rather slow and repetitive - I don't think you're missing much by not hearing it.
    J. None's plane from the west coast was late getting into Florida, so they started filming without him and he joined when he was able to. Of course, the audio tracks had been recorded previously, so it was only the video portion that J. None had to "catch up" for.
The video was recorded inside a complete studio with the walls, ceiling (perhaps floor, for all I know) covered with digital screens that Eli programmed using the Unreal Engine animation/background software engine.
Geoff hits one of his lowest notes ever - a B0 - 3 times during this song. The first one comes pretty early (at 01:13 in your recording), and he sustains it for about 15 seconds, with a few small modulations.
Geoff's version of Man of Constant Sorrow is a lot more upbeat than the one from Home Free that I'm most familiar with. While the lyrics are the same, the tempo of the song is different, and Geoff thought the song needed a bridge - so he wrote one for it! The section starting, "Now, now, now take me to the water" to "From these ghosts within my head" is the new bridge that Geoff wrote.
While Geoff doesn't really play the guitar (he uses plug-ins for his keyboard for the sounds), he knows a few chords he can "fake", and apparently did a pretty good job of doing so.
But don't let Layne pick your locations for your video shoot - he wanted to film on a train track that was not only active, but had trains zipping through it about every 10 minutes - "You'll have almost a minute to get off the tracks when the train comes!"

About Valhalla Calling, it is from Assasin's Creed. I loved Cesar's over the top angry Viking as well as Eli's crazed Viking. Voiceplay rarely does a cover without giving a solo to each member. I've seen some reactors who don't like that, they want one lead singer with everyone doing backup. They have a few that way, but they are all so, so talented that they all deserve to shine.
Man of Constant Sorrow,I like Geoff's version infinitely better than any other that I've heard. The rhythm gives it drive, his voice in all registers is magnificent. But my favorite thing is how he took a sad/melancholy song and made it hopeful by his attention to detail.
On the back of the photograph the words "On God's Golden Shore", the bridge he wrote of having his sins washed away, the major chord at the end, and the bouquet of baby's breath he carried throughout. It was the best part, I swear!

I really enjoyed this reaction, especially your response to the new Bridge written by Geoff and your reaction to your wife's feeling that there wasn't as much artistry in Man of Constant Sorrow as there was in Valhalla Calling. Very entertaining.

I heard from someone else that the reason why J-None was outside and then went inside is that he was basically the 'mortal' viking and when he goes inside he's died on the mortal plane and arrives in Valhalla

Man of Constant Sorrow is more of a Southern Rock take on a bluegrass song tbh.

A twofer of excellence! Thanks. I think J None was the watchman so the rest could be inside. A software company brought in the new software for the backgrounds. Eli is the expert on computer backgrounds, green screens, etc. Miracle of Sound did the original and they were impressed by VoicePlay's rendition and gave them 10 raised alehorns out of 10. J None's plane from the West Coast to Orlando did arrive later than expected but interfered only on the prep. His wedding was 3 days later and of course all the guys were there. Geoff did a new bridge to Man of Constant Sorrow. I know this song has been done by everyone and Geoff's position is that if he can't improve or make it his in some way there isn't any point in singing just a copy.

Geoff wrote the bridge for this song to make is a bit longer and also it can get a bit repetitive as it was originally. And yes he is starting to get some grey in his hair. :)
