    I'm an INFJ in a relationship with a really wonderful INTJ. It seems to me that when an NT realizes that they love you they become very proactive about making sure you know it. They will usually be aware of a general need in their NF for them to be demonstrative, but they often do not understand what that looks like. Their attempts can be adorable/frustrating. When they do get it right, they shine. NF's reaction here is key- NT's are fascinated/affirmed by it.

    My INFJ didn't want to take the test because he thought me ENFP would hold it against him.
    I am really hard on him, but he has softened me now. His strength was his silent knowing and questions and pointing out softly my problem areas. He took alot from me, I think too much, but it was indeed humbling. He teaches me humility and I teach him assertiveness. It's been really ruff on me, but he's hung in there now to the point I'm needy and he's more demanding.
    It's working to a good balance.

    Great video!
    I'm an INTJ and I think that another way that NT's show love is with planning. Reasoning that the relationship with said person is something worth making room for and readjusting priorities accordingly; a very big deal for somebody who handles their time so carefully. If an NT is love, they will assess the plans of both parties as well as the gap in between the two and develop some elaborate system to make the relationship work.

    Yes, you do. You have an emotional shield. You just don't know it yet. The shield is understanding. Understanding where it comes from. Reading deeper is your defense. Knowing is your defense, and loving is your defense. Acceptance and understanding is the ultimate protection.
    This comes from 18 years of abusive parenting, 10 years of an abusive relationship, the death of my child, the death of my friend, and an accident I will never recover from. I'm 29. I feel 60. And at peace.

    That's great!!! As an INFJ you should understand this the best. Not only do you really have a deep spiritual connection to love but an understanding of the mystical as well that is greater than all other types. Of course you didn't offend. NFGeeks is meant to stand strong for NF's everywhere at all times. We are your vanguard. NF's are often meant to feel dysfunctional or crazy and have internalized this negativity. Thus, we are quite unapologetic in defending and praising NFness everywhere.

    Not always. There are four temperaments that represent a cluster of values, orientations, etc. that can be generalized to more specific types. Two dimensions combined in each temperament create the variations between the four, so there are always two dimensions but not always the middle. Here they are: NF means intuitive feeling, NT means intuitive thinking, SJ means sensing judgers and SP means sensing perceivers.

    13:45 My INFJ friend I made this year BLEW my MIND, how he was so open. I LOVED that, as an INTP my chameleon trait was like WHOA, this is new. I took on how he was doing that, it was so interesting. I learnt a lot about myself by letting my barrier down. I honestly couldn't believe how he was doing that.

    As an INTJ i can attest, that we can be crippled by love as well. No matter how much we know in our rational minds, that we should move on, our Fi is too far down in our subconscious to be affected by it. And thats the same reason why we do not seem crippled. We feel the pain, we cannot stop it, but it is seperated enough from our primary functions, for us to act (but not feel) as if it wasn't there

    Must add: we all love differently. NFs love literally and completely. Love pours from them in speech and action. They are Invested heart and soul to the idea and the practice of love. But it is an emotional love. NTs love too. I don't think it occupies their mind the same way, but it does consume time for them. They want to make sense of it, figure out its rules. But the weaker their T, the better they are at expressing and acting on love. SPs (sigh) seem to focus on the fun of love. It can be

    I really miss watching you and Dave interact. You two are probably the most entertaining and complimentary together out of all the other people you have in your videos. Maybe that's just because you two are an ENFP and an INFJ.
    I am an ENFP btw :)

    Oh, and in response to this video: as an E/INFP, I think about love, as you said, day and night. And for this reason I've had to set aside dating while I finish my undergrad degree, because when I let myself start caring for someone, it takes over my life and I neglect my schoolwork. As a result, of course, I sometimes feel that I'm pushing away an inherent part of myself. I wonder if other very ambitious or career-oriented NF's experience this too?

    NFGeeks is recorded at NFGeeks headquarters, The Crystal Sky Castle. Crystal Sky Castle actually floats in the air. Its location varies. Someday it may just float above the European Union somewhere...
    On a somewhat unrelated topic; Have you ever watched something called "A Town Called Panic"? I think it is produced in Belgium.

    (INTJ) My definition of love became most clearly defined during a moment in Shriek 2 or 3. Toward the end Shriek says to his girl, "You are my adventure." My entire being went NO!!!! NO NO NO NO NO NO NO !!!!!!!!! I revolt against the idea of the "winning" the girl. I don't want a trophy. Love for me is an equal who is in the trenches with me. Love is not the prize at the end of the level, she is the one fighting with me for OUR prize every step of the way.

    Hey Mike and Dave!
    I'm an ISTJ! and I'm a total fan of these videos!
    I was rather sad that there weren't more SJs commenting :( SJs should get out there more often! Where are you people?
    I have a few NF and NT friends and they are awesome! I love that they seem to know where I am at instantaneously - this has been a comfort, source of wonder and frustration at times - (secretly they are ahead of me a lot of the time.. How do they do this??!! I wish I knew so I could get it for myself and sell it for the STs/J/Ps out there who wish they could understand better this other language you have which is very cool too btw! haha!
    NTs/NFs are I find easy to get along with which I love :))Awesome!
    What Dave was saying about NF and NT love is true I think...I've seen it in action with some friends of mine one particular NF and has a keen interest in the romantics of relationships with the opposite sex and is constantly ribbing me about it whereas I'm quite practical about love (I feel like I have to be or otherwise the pain of the rejection from a fantasy is pretty bad :'((
    Loving these videos - they are probably the best MBTI explorative videos out there about the NF types! :))
    Best Wishes,
    Sara

    I do not believe one can change their personality type at all. I do think that the personality type that is found from the inventories might change over time because as the individual gets older they get more self aware and answer more correctly.
    Jaded is not the same as dispassionate, so you might still be the type you previously were.

    I agree with everything in this video! It is SO nice to know that I am not the only one who thinks about love ALL THE TIME. Also, I have heard of and am addicted to personalitycafe! What do u think the best match is for an NF?

  • @nfgeeks
    @nfgeeks  14 лет назад

    @sk0gul: That is what we were trying to get out about NT's, but less articulately than how you wrote it because we don't plan what we say. That is what we meant or what we were trying to mean.

    Positive or negative, loyal or transient. But it tends to focus on the physical pleasure rather than emotional. SJs are very practical lovers. In the sense that they show love by practical assistance. They will drive 1000 miles to help change a tire, but won't call to say 'I love you'. Very difficult for us NFs to accept.

    @nfgeeks  12 лет назад

    Oh, love is an intense, mystical experience where you transcend the body and physical limitations of this world and see the majesty of divine celestial spheres and its circling seraphim for you too? It is not about superiority, it is about understanding the strengths, gifts, and weaknesses of every type and temperament. Love, in its most intense and transcending sense, is the domain of NF. Other virtues, which are just as important, are the domain of other types. Feel pride in your own virtues.

    Hey guys! I have a question probably more for Mike. When I've taken Myers-Briggs tests in the past, if I'm feeling particularly stressed or depressed at the time I take the test, I score as an INFP but if I'm feeling more upbeat and energized I'm an ENFP. I was wondering if it's possible to be an "ambivert" this way, or is one or the other more my "true" self? I've read that ENFP need time to retreat and process all that they take in, so maybe when I score "I" it means I'm in that place.

    I really enjoyed this video :).. I was wondering about a certain type in particular though; the ISFJ. They seem a little different compared to the rest of SJs, in the sense that they take a more romantic approach to life, in the way an NF would.. What are your thoughts? :)
